  • Hibernate fails with NullPointerException in EntityTuplizerFactory.constructTuplizer? Why?

    I have a problem when I try to instantiate Hibernate and connect with a MySQL database (see error message below). Curiously enough the connection works fine using the exact same hibernate.cfg.xml file when running Junit tests but it refuses to work when run from Tomcat... I am starting to run out of ideas. Any clues or tip where to look?   • jface.preference.FileFieldEditor can't specify a new file

    I'm setting up a series of preferences in my Eclipse (3.5.2) application and I'm having a problem with the FileFieldEditor. I want to allow the user to specify a log file to print output to. Often, this will be a new file. But when I use the file select dialog with FileFieldEditor, it complains that the file doesn't exists ("Value must be an existing file"). Is there a way, without extending the FileFieldEditor class, to suppress this error and have Java create that file if it doesn't exist? Thanks!

  • Passing methods/functions as args in Objective C

    Hello, I am new to Objective C and I am trying to implement an async library which works with callbacks. I need to figure out a way to pass callback methods as args to my async methods so that the callback can be invoked when the task is finished. What is the best way to achieve this in Objective C? In Python, for example I could easily pass a function, but in Objective C it seems selectors are the way to go(?). Can anyone point me to an example from where I can get some ideas?   • Uploading file to multiple servers ?

    I'm creating an image uploader which will give the user an option to upload file to a different server than which the script is hosted on. Is making an FTP connection from the script server to the target uploading server the only way to do this ? Correct me if im wrong, but would the path of the file look like this ? User computer (file) --- script server ---- target server Is there another way to do this ?

  • Listing both null and not null in mysql query

    Let's say I have the table NAME | ID | REF foo1 | 1 | NULL foo2 | 2 | 1234 foo2 | 3 | 567 foo1 | 4 | NULL foo3 | 5 | 89 I'd like to count all instances of NULL and NOT NULL in one query so that I can say NAME | null | not null foo1 | 0 | 2 foo2 | 2 | 0 foo3 | 0 | 1 I could run these two queries select NAME,count(*) from TABLE where REF is not null select NAME,count(*) from TABLE where REF is null But I'm sure there must be a simple way to do it in one mysql query.

  • How to use SMS content provider? Where are the docs?

    Hi, I'd like to be able to read the system's SMS content provider. Basically I wanted to make an SMS messaging app, but it would only be useful if I could see past threads etc. It seems like there's a content provider for this, but I can't find documentation for it - anyone know where that is? Thanks -------- edit ----------- Ok I found a way to get the sms inbox provider, and I just dumped all the column names in that provider, looks like this: Uri uriSms = Uri.parse("content://sms/inbox"); Cursor c = context.getContentResolver().query(uriSms, null,null,null,null); // column names for above provider: 0: _id 1: thread_id 2: address 3: person 4: date 5: protocol 6: read 7: status 8: type 9: reply_path_present 10: subject 11: body 12: service_center 13: locked I'm just piecing this together from random threads I find around the net, I'm really wondering where this is all documented (if at all)?   • Deleting SQLite rows automatically/periodically

    Hi guys! So, i have a application that displays tasks and i created an option in the Settings menu that lets you choose in how many days all (Never, 10 days, 20 days or 30 days) these tasks should be automatically deleted. So when i open up the app there will be a method that will be called and check if theres any tasks to be deleted. I did that to challenge myself, but i'm hitting the wall with my head and i cant come up with something. So here i am in need of help! A little more information: i was trying to do something with java/android code, but from past searches i saw people dealing with it using SQL functions. Is it better? Thanks in advance guys!

  • Zip Code Radius Search question...

    I'm wondering if it's possible to find all points by longitude and latitude within X radius of one point? So, if I provide a latitude/longitude of -76.0000, 38.0000, is it possible to simply find all the possible coordinates within (for example) a 10 mile radius of that? I know that there's a way to calculate the distance between two points, which is why I'm not clear as to whether this is possible... Because, it seems like you need to know the center coordinates (-76 and 38 in this case) as well as the coordinates of every other point in order to determine whether it falls within the specified radius... Is that right?

I read the manual and it says: RSYNC_PASSWORD Setting RSYNC_PASSWORD to the required password allows you to run authenticated rsync connections to an rsync daemon without user intervention. Note that this does not supply a password to a shell transport such as ssh. USER or LOGNAME The USER or LOGNAME environment variables are used to determine the default username sent to an rsync daemon.     Hello, Ubuntu 9.10 2.6.31-20-generic I am trying to install some software. When I do the ./configure. I get the following error: checking for Qt... configure: error: Qt (>= Qt 3.0.2) (headers and libraries) not found. Please check your installation! So I install the following package thinking this would solve the problem. sudo apt-get install libqt4-dev I was thinking that the libqt4-dev would install the headers and libraries.     Each block of animations, grouped in an Effect.Parallel, runs simultaneously. That works fine. Then, I want each of the Effect.Parallels to trigger sequentially, with a delay. The second block doesn't wait its turn. It fires when the function is run.   • App.Config Best Practices ?

    Normally when you have a application configuration file in your application and your application is expected to read from it. Is it good to check initially at start up if this file exists and raise an error and not to proceed at all ? (Worse case senarios) Or leave it to the unhandled exception manager to handle it and shut down the application? (WPF/Winforms etc)

  • Flash ActionScript 2.0 problem with the object's _visible parameter

    Hey guys, I've been trying to build something simple in Flash 8, and I stumbled across something weird I cannot explain: I have an object, and at some point of the program, I want it to be visible (it is invisible at first), so I write: _root.myObj._visible = true; _root.gameOver.swapDepths(_root.getNextHighestDepth()); //so it will be on the top and this works fine, the object becomes visible and etc. What I planned to happen next is that the user presses a button on that same object, and the object will go invisible: on(release) { trace(_root.myObj._visible); _root.myObj._visible = false; trace(_root.myObj._visible); _root.gotoAndPlay("three"); } The trace returns at first true and later on false, so the command works, but oddly the object stays visible, that's what I don't understand.
