  • DUnit: How to run tests?

    - by Ian Boyd
    How do i run TestCase's from the IDE? i created a new project, with a single, simple, form: unit Unit1; interface uses Windows, Messages, SysUtils, Classes, Graphics, Controls, Forms, Dialogs, StdCtrls; type TForm1 = class(TForm) private public end; var Form1: TForm1; implementation {$R *.DFM} end. Now i'll add a test case to check that pushing Button1 does what it should: unit Unit1; interface uses Windows, Messages, SysUtils, Classes, Graphics, Controls, Forms, Dialogs, StdCtrls; type TForm1 = class(TForm) Button1: TButton; procedure Button1Click(Sender: TObject); private public end; var Form1: TForm1; implementation {$R *.DFM} uses TestFramework; type TForm1Tests = class(TTestCase) private f: TForm1; protected procedure SetUp; override; procedure TearDown; override; published procedure TestButton1Click; end; procedure TForm1.Button1Click(Sender: TObject); begin //todo end; { TForm1Tests } procedure TForm1Tests.SetUp; begin inherited; f := TForm1.Create(nil); end; procedure TForm1Tests.TearDown; begin f.Free; inherited; end; procedure TForm1Tests.TestButton1Click; begin f.Button1Click(nil); Self.CheckEqualsString('Hello, world!', f.Caption); end; end. Given what i've done (test code in the GUI project), how do i now trigger a run of the tests? If i push F9 then the form simply appears: Ideally there would be a button, or menu option, in the IDE saying Run DUnit Tests: Am i living in a dream-world? A fantasy land, living in a gumdrop house on lollipop lane?

  • How does heap compaction work quickly?

    - by Mason Wheeler
    They say that compacting garbage collectors are faster than traditional memory management because they only have to collect live objects, and by rearranging them in memory so everything's in one contiguous block, you end up with no heap fragmentation. But how can that be done quickly? It seems to me that that's equivalent to the bin-packing problem, which is NP-hard and can't be completed in a reasonable amount of time on a large dataset within the current limits of our knowledge about computation. What am I missing?

  • Does mixing Quartz and OpenGL-ES cause big performance degrade??

    - by Eonil
    I have a plan to make a game using OpenGL for 3D world view, and CALayer(or UIView) for HUD UI. It's easy to imagine performance degrade from mixing them, but the document which mention this impact disappeared: http://developer.apple.com/iphone/library/technotes/tn2008/tn2230.html I cannot find the document on current version of SDK reference. And I got this document: http://gamesfromwithin.com/gdc-2010-the-best-of-both-worlds-using-uikit-with-opengl If you experienced about this, please let me know about performance impact on current SDK.

  • bluetooth file send.

    - by cheesebunz
    i'm new to bluetooth development and i found the 32netfeet . Right now i'm able to search for bluetooth devices nearby and connect to them but how do i send a file e.g SendTest.txt? I tried buttonclick event using the OBEX but i don't understand this is my example code: using InTheHand.Net; using InTheHand.Net.Sockets; using InTheHand.Net.Bluetooth; namespace BluetoothIntheHand { public partial class Form2 : Form { private Guid service = BluetoothService.DialupNetworking; private BluetoothClient bluetoothClient; public Form2() { InitializeComponent(); } private void btnSearch_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { BluetoothRadio.PrimaryRadio.Mode = RadioMode.Discoverable; BluetoothRadio myRadio = BluetoothRadio.PrimaryRadio; lblSearch.Text = "" + myRadio.LocalAddress.ToString(); bluetoothClient = new BluetoothClient(); Cursor.Current = Cursors.WaitCursor; BluetoothDeviceInfo[] bluetoothDeviceInfo = { }; bluetoothDeviceInfo = bluetoothClient.DiscoverDevices(10); comboBox1.DataSource = bluetoothDeviceInfo; comboBox1.DisplayMember = "DeviceName"; comboBox1.ValueMember = "DeviceAddress"; comboBox1.Focus(); Cursor.Current = Cursors.Default; } private void btnConnect_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (comboBox1.SelectedValue != null) { try { bluetoothClient.Connect(new BluetoothEndPoint((BluetoothAddress)comboBox1.SelectedValue, service)); MessageBox.Show("Connected"); } catch (Exception ex) { MessageBox.Show(ex.Message); } } } private void btnSend_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { bluetoothClient.Connect(new BluetoothEndPoint((BluetoothAddress)comboBox1.SelectedValue, service)); String addr = "112233445566"; Uri uri = new Uri("obex://"+@"SendTest.txt"); ObexWebRequest req= new ObexWebRequest(uri); ObexWebResponse rsp; } I found the guide but don't really know how to convert to C# ' The host part of the URI is the device address, e.g. IrDAAddress.ToString(), ' and the file part is the OBEX object name. Dim addr As String = "112233445566" Dim uri As New Uri("obex://" & addr & "/HelloWorld2.txt") Dim req As New ObexWebRequest(uri) Using content As Stream = req.GetRequestStream() ' Using a StreamWriter to write text to the stream... Using wtr As New StreamWriter(content) wtr.WriteLine("Hello World GetRequestStream") wtr.WriteLine("Hello World GetRequestStream 2") wtr.Flush() ' Set the Length header value req.ContentLength = content.Length End Using ' In this case closing the StreamWriter also closed the Stream, but ... But as soon as I add binmode(STDOUT, ":encoding(ISO-8859-1)"); to my script file, I get an error like "segmentation fault", "access denied". What is wrong to define an encoding type when trying to call a perl thread? Kind Regards --Andy

  • understanding P4 describe / diff summary (-ds) option

    - by JavaScriptDude
    Greetings P4 folks, I am trying to understand the P4 describe -ds output. I am assuming that this is the same as the p4 diff -ds output. Here is an example of the "Differences ..." block: ==== //depot/Groups/mygroup/trunk/main/FooBar.java#5 (text) ==== add 7 chunks 13 lines deleted 1 chunks 1 lines changed 16 chunks 92 / 118 lines ~ Now I understand that add and deleted lines are clear but why are there two numbers for the changed lines (92 / 118). Thanks! - JsD

  • Why is C++0x's `noexcept` checked dynamically?

    - by rlbond
    I am curious about the rationale behind noexcept in the C++0x FCD. throw(X) was depreciated, but noexcept seems to do the same thing. Is there a reason that noexcept isn't checked at compile time? It seems that it would be better if these functions were checked statically that they only called throwing functions within a try block.

  • How can I move the close button to the top-right corner of the box in slimbox (jQuery)

    - by janoChen
    I want to have my button in the top-right corner, I tried position: absolute, but I think the position of the box is not relative so I can't use top: 0;. Any suggestions? CSS: /* SLIMBOX */ #lbOverlay { position: fixed; z-index: 9999; left: 0; top: 0; width: 100%; height: 100%; background-color: #000; cursor: pointer; } #lbCenter, #lbBottomContainer { position: absolute; z-index: 9999; overflow: hidden; background-color: #fff; } .lbLoading { background: #fff url(slimbox2/loading.gif) no-repeat center; } #lbImage { position: absolute; left: 0; top: 0; border: 10px solid #fff; background-repeat: no-repeat; } #lbPrevLink, #lbNextLink { display: block; position: absolute; top: 0; width: 50%; outline: none; } #lbPrevLink { left: 0; } #lbPrevLink:hover { background: transparent url(slimbox2/prevlabel.gif) no-repeat 0 15%; } #lbNextLink { right: 0; } #lbNextLink:hover { background: transparent url(slimbox2/nextlabel.gif) no-repeat 100% 15%; } #lbBottom { font-family: Verdana, Arial, Geneva, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10px; color: #666; line-height: 1.4em; text-align: left; border: 10px solid #fff; border-top-style: none; } #lbCloseLink { display: block; float: right; width: 31px; height: 32px; background: transparent url(slimbox2/closelabel.gif) no-repeat center; margin: 5px 0; outline: none; } #lbCloseLink:hover { background: transparent url(slimbox2/closelabel_hover.gif) no-repeat center; border-bottom: 0px; } #lbCaption, #lbNumber { margin-right: 71px; } #lbCaption { font-weight: bold; }

  • CSS drop-down menus pushing page content down

    - by Mason Jones
    This is probably (hopefully) a pretty simple question, but I can't seem to get it to work so I'll turn to the experts here. I'm using a pretty straightforward CSS drop-down menu, with just a little JQuery involved. The issue is that when I hover over the drop-down and it opens, it's pushing everything on the page down below it rather then opening over it. I've tried messing with the z-index but that doesn't seem to be the issue. Any tips would be fantastic, thanks in advance. Here's the HTML; sorry it's not super-pretty, I had to rip out a bunch of stuff to make it simple and generic. <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <HTML style="zoom: 100%; "> <HEAD> <script src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4.0/jquery.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script> </HEAD> <BODY class="bodyclass" style="background:#BCE2F1; height: 100%;"> <DIV id="maincontainer" style="min-height: 100%;"> <STYLE type="text/css"> #cssdropdown, #cssdropdown ul { font-size: 9pt; background-color: black; list-style: none; } #cssdropdown, #cssdropdown * { padding: 0; margin: 0; } #cssdropdown li.headlink { width: 140px; float: left; margin-left: -1px; border: 1px black solid; background-color: white; text-align: center; } #cssdropdown li.headlink a { display: block; color: #339804; padding: 3px; text-decoration: none; } #cssdropdown li.headlink a:hover { background-color: #F8E0AC; font-weight: bold; } #cssdropdown li.headlink ul { display: none; border-top: 1px black solid; text-align: left; } #cssdropdown li.headlink:hover ul { display: block; text-decoration: none; } #cssdropdown li.headlink ul li a { padding: 5px; height: 15px; } #cssdropdown li.headlink ul li a:hover { background-color: #CCE9F5; text-decoration: none; font-weight: normal; } /* #cssdropdown a { color: #CCE9F5; } */ #cssdropdown ul li a:hover { text-decoration: none; } #cssdropdown li.headlink { background-color: white; } #cssdropdown li.headlink ul { background-color: white; background-position: bottom; padding-bottom: 2px; } </STYLE> <SCRIPT language="JavaScript"> $(document).ready(function(){ $('#cssdropdown li.headlink').hover( function() { $('ul', this).css('display', 'block'); }, function() { $('ul', this).css('display', 'none'); }); }); </SCRIPT> <DIV class="navigation_box" style="border: none;"> <DIV class="innercontent"> <DIV style="background: white; float: left; padding: 5px; border: solid 1px black;"> LOGO </DIV> <DIV class="navmenu" style="float: right; bottom: 0; font-size: 9pt; text-align: right;"> <SPAN>Logged in as [email protected]</SPAN><BR> <UL id="cssdropdown"> <LI class="headlink"> <A href="http://localhost:3000/one">One</A> <UL style="display: none; "> <LI><A href="http://localhost:3000/one">Option One</A></LI> <LI><A href="http://localhost:3000/one">Option Two</A></LI> <LI><A href="http://localhost:3000/one">Option Three</A></LI> <LI><A href="http://localhost:3000/one">Option Four</A></LI> </UL> </LI> <LI class="headlink"> <A href="http://localhost:3000/two">Two</A> <UL style="display: none; "> <LI><A href="http://localhost:3000/two">Option Two-One</A></LI> <LI><A href="http://localhost:3000/two">Option Two-Two</A></LI> <LI><A href="http://localhost:3000/two">Option Two-Three</A></LI> </UL> </LI> <LI class="headlink" style="width: 80px;"> <A href="http://localhost:3000/three">Three</A> </LI> <LI class="headlink" style="width: 300px; padding-top: 2px; height: 19px;"> <FORM action="http://localhost:3000/search" method="post"> <P> Search: <INPUT id="searchwords" name="searchwords" size="20" type="text" value=""> <INPUT name="commit" type="submit" value="Find"> </P> </FORM> </LI> <LI class="headlink" style="width: 60px;"> <A href="http://localhost:3000/four">Four</A> </LI> <LI class="headlink" style="width: 60px;"> <A href="http://localhost:3000/logout">Logout</A> </LI> </UL> </DIV> </DIV> </DIV> <DIV id="contentwrapper" style="clear:both"> <DIV class="innercontent" style="margin: 0px 20px 20px 20px;"> <H1>Some test content here to fill things out a little bit.</H1> </DIV> </DIV> </DIV> <DIV id="footer" style="clear: both; float: bottom;"> <DIV class="innercontent" style="font-size: 10px;"> Copyright 2008-2010 </DIV> </DIV> </BODY>

  • recaptcha still submits form when one word invalid

    - by luckytaxi
    Um so I was in for a little bit of a surprise tonight. I spent a good 20 mins trying to figure out why I was able to submit a form knowing that what I entered into the recaptcha field was invalid. Is it true that you don't need to input the exact words it displays? If it shows me two words and I misspelled one of the words, I still pass validation? Same goes if "hello world" and I input "hell man" it still works.

  • Enumerate registered namespaces of a PHP DOMDocument object

    - by zneak
    Hello world, For one of my projects, I'm using the DOMDocument class to load and manipulate XML documents. I'd need to retrieve every namespace used in the document; however, I can't find how I'd do that. The DOMDocument class has methods to get the namespace prefix of an URI or the URI of a namespace prefix, but I've seen nothing to actually enumerate registered namespaces. The SimpleXML library has a getNamespaces() method for that. Is there an equivalent for DOMDocument?

  • String comparison in Numpy

    In the following example In [8]: import numpy as np In [9]: strings = np.array(['hello ', 'world '], dtype='|S10') In [10]: strings == 'hello' Out[10]: array([False, False], dtype=bool) The comparison fails because of the whitespace. Is there a Numpy built-in function that does the equivalent of In [12]: np.array([x.strip()=='hello' for x in strings]) Out[12]: array([ True, False], dtype=bool) which does give the correct result?

  • Is Ogre's use of Exceptions a good way of using them?

    - by identitycrisisuk
    I've managed to get through my C++ game programming career so far virtually never touching exceptions but recently I've been working on a project with the Ogre engine and I'm trying to learn properly. I've found a lot of good questions and answers here on the general usage of C++ exceptions but I'd like to get some outside opinions from here on whether Ogre's usage is good and how best to work with them. To start with, quoting from Ogre's documentation of it's own Exception class: OGRE never uses return values to indicate errors. Instead, if an error occurs, an exception is thrown, and this is the object that encapsulates the detail of the problem. The application using OGRE should always ensure that the exceptions are caught, so all OGRE engine functions should occur within a try{} catch(Ogre::Exception& e) {} block. Really? Every single Ogre function could throw an exception and be wrapped in a try/catch block? At present this is handled in our usage of it by a try/catch in main that will show a message box with the exception description before exiting. This can be a bit awkward for debugging though as you don't get a stack trace, just the function that threw the error - more important is the function from our code that called the Ogre function. If it was an assert in Ogre code then it would go straight to the code in the debugger and I'd be able to find out what's going on much easier - I don't know if I'm missing something that would allow me to debug exceptions already? I'm starting to add a few more try/catch blocks in our code now, generally thinking about whether it matters if the Ogre function throws an exception. If it's something that will stop everything working then let the main try/catch handle it and exit the program. If it's not of great importance then catch it just after the function call and let the program continue. One recent example of this was building up a vector of the vertex/fragment program parameters for materials applied to an entity - if a material didn't have any parameters then it would throw an exception, which I caught and then ignored as it didn't need to add to my list of parameters. Does this seem like a reasonable way of dealing with things? Any specific advice for working with Ogre is much appreciated.

  • Byte = 8bits, but why doesn't BitConverter think so

    - by Paul Farry
    Given the following information Public Enum Request As Byte None = 0 Identity = 1 License = 2 End Enum Protected mType As Communication.Request mType = Communication.Request.Identity Debug.Print (BitConverter.GetBytes(mType).Length.tostring) 2 Why does bitconverter report that mType is a length of 2. I would have thought that passing a Byte into BitConverter.GetBytes would just return the Byte. I mean it's no big deal because it's only sending a very small block of data across a TCP Socket, but I'm just intrigued why it thinks it's 2 bytes.
