Flex actionscript project stage height/width

In the metadata I have set the heights as following.

 [SWF(width=760,height=610,backgroundColor="#cccccc")]

But when I trace stage.stageWidth it comes out to be 950. If I change width to 570 in matadata stageWidth becomes 710. Can't really figure our whats happening here.
