I think I might be missing something really obvious here but how can I stretch the width or height of the text in a TextArea rather than just resizing the bounding box of the control ?

In Flex3, I could compile pure as3 code and use "embed" tags to load in images. This was done by Flex making a BitmapAsset class.
I can still do this in Flex4.

I try to set different a background colors for left and right columns and to maintain the same height.
