MDS is Metadata store used to store shared artifacts in AIA 11gR1. The shared artifacts are the artifacts which are used by multiple composites. These are like xsds, wsdls, xsls etc. Instead of hosting on http location, we use MDS to store these artifacts.
We use 'oramds' protocol in all the composites instead of 'http'.
