R users are advised to download R and R packages from local repositories. But some are outdated. Is there an easy way to check if a repository is outdated? Any function in R that does that?

I would like to create a local CRAN repository such that users in my company can install packages from it and the system admins can update the local repo periodically. Access to the CRAN mirrors is currently denied.
