Digital signature alternative upon ecommerce checkout

I'm looking for alternatives to a digital signature option for a checkout page. I've been on several sites where I've had to type my own name in order to apply a digital signature for an item. What are your thoughts on this kind of thing.... would it hinder sales if you were checking out?
