What does a beginner need to know before switching to Ubuntu?

I have never worked with Linux before. I always used Windows. But I'm considering installing Ubuntu on my machine.

I read installing Ubuntu should be very easy. But are there any thing I need to keep in mind during the installation?

What are the first things I have to do when I completed the installation?
