Gaurav Gupta, a senior program manager on Microsoft's cloud backup team, announced details of the service in a recent post on Microsoft's Windows Server Blog. In essence, the Microsoft Online Backup Service allows Windows Server 8 users to backup and recover their files and folders from the cloud.
