Configuring port forwarding on Fortigate 50B

I can't for the life of me get port forwarding to work on my Fortigate 50B. I followed the setup tips described on this other SF thread with no success.

The only specific difference I can find is we are using load balancing through 2 different internet uplinks. Is there any caveat specific to this scenario that I might be missing?

If you need any specific additional information please ask because I think I have checked everything:

Virtual IP mapping on external interface wan1
ACCEPT all from any on wan1 to the corresponding server on internal
No seeming offending firewall rules (any specific pitfalls that I might want to check for?)
