  • How do I get an unexpanded REG_EXPAND_SZ string from a remote registry?

    - by dalehhirt
I am currently using RegistryKey.GetValue(string name, object defaultValue, RegistryValueOptions options) with RegistryValueOptions.DoNotExpandEnvironmentNames for the options value. However, this is only valid when run on the local machine. Digging down via Reflector, I find it expands the strings locally. Which means that irrespective of the setting, the strings come down remotely already expanded. Has anyone come across a solution to this that does not require running a process directly on the remote machine to get a REG_EXPAND_SZ value? Update: I attempted to use WMI's StdRegProv provider to gain access, but it still expands the strings before sending them back.

  • PRINT statement in T-SQL

    - by ProfK
Why does the PRINT statement in T-SQL seem to only sometimes work? What are the constraints on using it? It seems sometimes if a result set is generated, it becomes a null function, I assumed to prevent corrupting the resultset, but could it's output not go out in another result set, such as the row count?

  • Bad linking in Qt unit test -- missing the link to the moc file?

    - by dwj
I'm trying to unit test a class that inherits QObject; the class itself is located up one level in my directory structure. When I build the unit test I get the standard unresolved errors if a class' MOC file cannot be found: test.obj : error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol "public: virtual void * __thiscall UnitToTest::qt_metacast(char const *)" (?qt_metacast@UnitToTest@@UAEPAXPBD@Z) + 2 missing functions The MOC file is created but appears to not be linking. I've been poking around SO, the web, and Qt's docs for quite a while and have hit a wall. How do I get the unit test to include the MOC file in the link? ==== My project file is dead simple: TEMPLATE = app TARGET = test DESTDIR = . CONFIG += qtestlib INCLUDEPATH += . .. DEPENDPATH += . HEADERS += test.h SOURCES += test.cpp ../UnitToTest.cpp stubs.cpp DEFINES += UNIT_TEST My directory structure and files: C:. | UnitToTest.cpp | UnitToTest.h | \---test | test.cpp (Makefiles removed for clarity) | test.h | test.pro | stubs.cpp | +---debug | UnitToTest.obj | test.obj | test.pdb | moc_test.cpp | moc_test.obj | stubs.obj Edit: Additional information The generated Makefile.Debug shows the moc file missing: SOURCES = test.cpp \ ..\test.cpp \ stubs.cpp debug\moc_test.cpp OBJECTS = debug\test.obj \ debug\UnitToTest.obj \ debug\stubs.obj \ debug\moc_test.obj

  • #1130 - Host ‘localhost’ is not allowed to connect to this MySQL server

    - by Raph
I accidently changed the "host" value for the root user inside of the user table for mysql. I need to change it back to localhost because I changed it to arancillary2125 (my other machines DNS name) but I cannot access mysql (from PHPMYADMIN or command prompt) due to "localhost" not having permissions anymore. I am running windows XP // apache // I have tried the following solutions but they didn't work: http://serverfault.com/questions/92870/1130-host-localhost-is-not-allowed-to-connect-to-this-mysql-server

  • SVN: is it possible to delete a branch that was copied removed etc for good?

    - by dimus
I have to remove a branch from svn history for good. Normally I would use svnadmin dump /path/to/repo |svndumpfilter --drop-empty-revs --renumber-revs exclude /branches/bad_branch However this branch was not just created, but also moved and then removed and dump script fails to process downstream information with messages like: Invalid copy source path '/branches/bad_branch' So I imagine 2 ways to cope with the problem keep only last few revisions of the history and put current repository as an archive on the web make a dump up to the revision where the 'bad_branch' was created and apply the rest of the changes as a patch, therefore losing history of a few recent commits. Is there a better, cleaner way to deal with this?

  • Adobe Flex Transparency not working on Button icon

    - by johnc
I am fairly inexperienced with Flex, but my googling has retrieved nothing to suggest this is an obvious question. I have an mx:Button with an Icon on it that is a png file with a transparent background, as below, however the transparency is not working, and the icon is painted with a white background. <mx:Button label="Button" icon="@Embed(source='images/clearTracks.png')"/> I have seen how to use a ByteArrayImage to get a transparency working on an image, but this technique doesn't appear available for a button's icon property.

  • Correlated SQL Join Query from multiple tables

    - by SooDesuNe
    I have two tables like the ones below. I need to find what exchangeRate was in effect at the dateOfPurchase. I've tried some correlated sub queries, but I'm having difficulty getting the correlated record to be used in the sub queries. I expect a solution will need to follow this basic outline: SELECT only the exchangeRates for the applicable countryCode From 1. SELECT the newest exchangeRate less than the dateOfPurchase Fill in the query table with all the fields from 2. and the purchasesTable. My Tables: purchasesTable: > dateOfPurchase | costOfPurchase | countryOfPurchase > 29-March-2010 | 20.00 | EUR > 29-March-2010 | 3000 | JPN > 30-March-2010 | 50.00 | EUR > 30-March-2010 | 3000 | JPN > 30-March-2010 | 2000 | JPN > 31-March-2010 | 100.00 | EUR > 31-March-2010 | 125.00 | EUR > 31-March-2010 | 2000 | JPN > 31-March-2010 | 2400 | JPN costOfPurchase is in whatever the local currency is for a given countryCode exchangeRateTable > effectiveDate | countryCode | exchangeRate > 29-March-2010 | JPN | 90 > 29-March-2010 | EUR | 1.75 > 30-March-2010 | JPN | 92 > 31-March-2010 | JPN | 91 The results of the query that I'm looking for: > dateOfPurchase | costOfPurchase | countryOfPurchase | exchangeRate > 29-March-2010 | 20.00 | EUR | 1.75 > 29-March-2010 | 3000 | JPN | 90 > 30-March-2010 | 50.00 | EUR | 1.75 > 30-March-2010 | 3000 | JPN | 92 > 30-March-2010 | 2000 | JPN | 92 > 31-March-2010 | 100.00 | EUR | 1.75 > 31-March-2010 | 125.00 | EUR | 1.75 > 31-March-2010 | 2000 | JPN | 91 > 31-March-2010 | 2400 | JPN | 91 So for example in the results, the exchange rate, in effect for EUR on 31-March was 1.75. I'm using Access, but a MySQL answer would be fine too. UPDATE: Modification to Allan's answer: SELECT dateOfPurchase, costOfPurchase, countryOfPurchase, exchangeRate FROM purchasesTable p LEFT OUTER JOIN (SELECT e1.exchangeRate, e1.countryCode, e1.effectiveDate, min(e2.effectiveDate) AS enddate FROM exchangeRateTable e1 LEFT OUTER JOIN exchangeRateTable e2 ON e1.effectiveDate < e2.effectiveDate AND e1.countryCode = e2.countryCode GROUP BY e1.exchangeRate, e1.countryCode, e1.effectiveDate) e ON p.dateOfPurchase >= e.effectiveDate AND (p.dateOfPurchase < e.enddate OR e.enddate is null) AND p.countryOfPurchase = e.countryCode I had to make a couple small changes.

  • XSLT question, how to transform xml when I have xslt file stored, but object in mem?

    - by JL
I have a function that takes 2 parameters : 1 = XML file, 2 = XSLT file, then performs a transformation and returns the resulting HTML. Here is the function: /// <summary> /// Will apply an XSLT style to any XML file and return the rendered HTML. /// </summary> /// <param name="xmlFileName"> /// The file name of the XML document. /// </param> /// <param name="xslFileName"> /// The file name of the XSL document. /// </param> /// <returns> /// The rendered HTML. /// </returns> public string TransformXml(string xmlFileName, string xslFileName) { var xtr = new XmlTextReader(xmlFileName) { WhitespaceHandling = WhitespaceHandling.None }; var xd = new XmlDocument(); xd.Load(xtr); var xslt = new System.Xml.Xsl.XslCompiledTransform(); xslt.Load(xslFileName); var stm = new MemoryStream(); xslt.Transform(xd, null, stm); stm.Position = 1; var sr = new StreamReader(stm); xtr.Close(); return sr.ReadToEnd(); } I want to change the function not to accept a file name, but rather a strongly typed object de-serialized (now in the form of a variable). Is this possible? So keep the xslt coming from a file, but the xml input should be a the serialized xml of the object I pass, and I want to do this without file system IO.

  • Microsoft DevDays 2010 Day 2

I delivered a session today that describes what's new in Office 2010 for solution developers. It's a session that I have evolved over the past year. My core demos have also evolved, and I'm pleased with the impact they make. The session was well attended, and I was pleased to see plenty of enthusiasm for Microsoft Office solutions from the good folks in the Netherlands. My demo image is still based on Office 2010 Beta 2, and that's something I'm already in the process of changing. I'm moving to RC...Did you know that DotNetSlackers also publishes .net articles written by top known .net Authors? We already have over 80 articles in several categories including Silverlight. • How does BTRFS compare to ZFS?

    - by Zubair
I am considering which OS and filesystem to use on some new servers I have and am considering either Free BSD with ZFS, or Linux with BTRFS. The programs I have run on both systems, so the only issue is reliability of the filesystems and performance, etc.

  • should the same machine key be used in development and production environments?

    - by Henry Troup
Our production servers all have the same machine key. However, our production and development systems do not have identical machine keys. We get heaps (about one per second) of exceptions of the form System.Security.Cryptography.CryptographicException: Padding is invalid and cannot be removed. at System.Security.Cryptography.RijndaelManagedTransform.DecryptData() at System.Security.Cryptography.RijndaelManagedTransform.TransformFinalBlock() at System.Security.Cryptography.CryptoStream.FlushFinalBlock() at System.Web.Configuration.MachineKeySection.EncryptOrDecryptData() at System.Web.UI.Page.DecryptStringWithIV()... We deploy the code after a build, .cs source is not present on production. aspx files are present on production. (Should I have posted in Stack Overflow? It's not a coding question.) From experimentation, we've found using the dev machine key value causes the exceptions to go away. Does anyone have documentation that I can use with the security team on the need for identical keys at compile and deployment time?

  • How does the timeout work in Restlet's client class?

    - by Greg Noe
Here's some code: Client client = new Client(Protocol.HTTP); client.setConnectTimeout(1); //milliseconds Response response = client.post(url, paramRepresentation); System.out.println("timed out"); What I would expect to happen is that it prints "timed out" before the resource has time to process. Instead, nothing happens with the timeout and it doesn't print "timed out" until after the resource returns. Even if I put a Thread.sleep(5000) at the resource that's handling the request, the entire sleep is performed, like the timeout did nothing. Anyone have experience with this? I'm using Restlet 1.1.1. Thanks.

  • How to cast an NSDecimal value into an NSInteger value?

    - by mystify
I have an situation where I get an NSDecimal, and I need an NSInteger. I do know it is a very small value (this is absolutely sure). It won't be bigger than 100. So It would be perfectly fine to cast it to NSInteger, no overflow would happen. How could this be done? There's just an -doubleValue method in NSDecimal.

  • Long overdue (for me) question about disposing managed objects in .Net, VB.Net, C#

    - by Jules
I can't believe I'm still confused about this but, any way, lets finally nail it: I have a class that overrides OnPaint to do some drawing. To speed things up, I create the pens, brushes etc before hand, in the construtor, so that OnPaint does not need to keep creating and disposing them. Now, I make sure that I always dispose of such objects, but I have the feeling I don't need to because, despite the fact they implement IDisposable, they're managed objects. Is this correct?

  • Example of use of unregistered, dynamically created gen_server's?

    - by me2
Tutorials are abound for working with gen_servers that are named in an OTP application. However, I've been unable to find a good example of dynamically spawning servers that are not registered (not named). Can someone point to a good, simple example? Not ejabberd, for example, where there is a lot to confuse the core idea I'm trying to get at. Thanks.
