  • Downloading Spreadsheets From Google Docs

    Hello, I am working on an Android app that uses the gdata-java-client to download documents for display only. So far I have an application that authenticates with the services and displays a list of user documents. When the user selects a document another query is made for the documents itself. A request for txt, html, rtf and doc files works well, however when I request a spreadsheet in either .csv or .xsl format the result is unexpected. I'm using an HTTPResponse object to store the result of a an HTTPRequest. When I request a document in .csv or .xsl format the HTTPResponse.parseAsString() method produces an entire html page which appears to be the Google Docs home page. Sounds strange, but the result is the actual html for the login page. The HTTPResponse.getStatusMessage returns a 200. Seems like I am missing something simple here. Is there another property of the HTTPResponse that contains the .csv data? I am pretty sure that I am using the correct uri for downloading spreadsheets because it works when I download through my browser.   • Limiting the size of the managed heap in a C# application

    Can I configure my C# application to limit its memory consumption to, say, 200MB? IOW, I don't want to wait for the automatic GC (which seems to allow the heap to grow much more than actually needed by this application). I know that in Java there's a command line switch you can pass to the JVM that achieves this.. is there an equivalent in C#? p.s. I know that I can invoke the GC from code, but that's something I would rather not have to do periodically. I'd rather set it once upon startup somehow and forget it.

  • relative path issue (noob)

    I am using the following code to check existence of a file before publishing an image in my erb file. <% @imagename = @place.name + ".jpg" %> <% if FileTest.exist?( "/Users/Tim/projects/game/public/" + @imagename ) %> <p><img src= '<%= @imagename %>' width="400" height="300" /> </p> <% end %> And when I publish this to Heroku, it obviously wont work. I tried using a relative path, but not able to get it to work. <% if FileTest.exist?( "/" + @imagename ) % any help appreciated.

  • Can Goldberg algorithm in ocamlgraph be used to find Minimum Cost Flow graph?

    I'm looking for an implementation to the Minimum Cost Flow graph problem in OCaml. OCaml library ocamlgraph has Goldberg algorithm implementation. The paper called Efficient implementation of the Goldberg-Tarjan minimum-cost flow algorithm is noting that Goldberg-Tarjan algorithm can find minimum cost graph. Question is, does ocamlgraph algorithm also find the minimum cost? Library documentation only states, that it's suitable at least for the maximum flow problem. If not, does anybody have a good link to a nice any minimum cost optimization algorithm code? I will manually translate it into OCaml then. Forgive me, if I missed it on Wikipedia: there are too many algos on flow networks for the first day!

  • Kohonen SOM Maps in R Tutorial

    Hi Everyone, I am simply looking for a good tutorial that will walk me through how to create a SOM in R. I am reading Kohonen and Kaski's paper on using the maps to identify the structure of Welfare, and want to try the technique my self. I think many of the examples in R have a lot to be desired. I have looked on the web and didn't find anything that I thought made the process easy to understand. Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

  • Where are the readonly/const in .NET?

    In C++ you'll see void func(const T& t) everywhere. However, i havent seen anything similar in .NET. Why? I have notice a nice amount of parameters using struct. But i see no functions with readonly/const. In fact now that i tried it i couldnt use those keywords to make a function that promises to not modify a list being passed in. Is there no way to promise the caller that this function will never modify the contents of list? Is there no way to say to call code and say this list should never be modified? (I know i can clone the list or look at documentation but i like compile errors sometime)

  • DataTable.Select Behaves Strangely Using ISNULL Operator on NULL DateTime Column

    I have a DataTable with a DateTime column, "DateCol", that can be DBNull. The DataTable has one row in it with a NULL value in this column. I am trying to query rows that have either DBNull value in this column or a date that is greater than today's date. Today's date is 5/11/2010. I built a query to select the rows I want, but it did not work as expected. The query was: string query = "ISNULL(DateCol, '" + DateTime.MaxValue + "'") > "' + DateTime.Today "'" This results in the following query: "ISNULL(DateCol, '12/31/9999 11:59:59 PM') > '5/11/2010'" When I run this query, I get no results. It took me a while to figure out why. What follows is my investigation in the Visual Studio immediate window: > dt.Rows.Count 1 > dt.Rows[0]["DateCol"] {} > dt.Rows[0]["DateCol"] == DBNull.Value true > dt.Select("ISNULL(DateCol,'12/31/9999 11:59:59 PM') > '5/11/2010'").Length 0 <-- I expected 1 Trial and error showed a difference in the date checks at the following boundary: > dt.Select("ISNULL(DateCol, '12/31/9999 11:59:59 PM') > '2/1/2000'").Length 0 > dt.Select("ISNULL(DateCol, '12/31/9999 11:59:59 PM') > '1/31/2000'").Length 1 <-- this was the expected answer The query works fine if I wrap the DateTime field in # instead of quotes. > dt.Select("ISNULL(DateCol, #12/31/9999#) > #5/11/2010#").Length 1 My machine's regional settings is currently set to EN-US, and the short date format is M/d/yyyy. Why did the original query return the wrong results? Why would it work fine if the date was compared against 1/31/2000 but not against 2/1/2000?

  • installing bitnami stacks with virtualbox

    Background: I cannot seem to get the vmdk files to work with VirtualBox as a way of using Bitnami stacks. The documentation says you can use VirtualBox, but there is no detail except how to use VMWare player. I know how to get .iso files working with virtual box, but not the files that Bitnami uses. Question: Anyone have experience getting this specific configuration to work?

    Hi, I have a number of elements that i want to loop through as groups. Consider this HTML: <input class="matching match-1" /> <input class="matching match-1" /> <input class="matching match-2" /> <input class="matching match-2" /> <input class="matching match-2" /> <input class="matching match-3" /> <input class="matching match-3" /> // etc I want a CSS selector that would allow me to loop through these as groups so there would be - using this example - 3 iterations of the loop (one for match-1, one for match-2 and one for match-3). The 1,2,3 etc is a variable used for grouping but this is not fixed so it cannot rely on hard coding of these values. Is this even possible? I'll be using jQuery or prototype not that that should matter really. Thanks

  • Java Program Design Layout Recommendations?

    I've learned enough to begin writing programs from scratch, but I'm running into the problem of not knowing how to design the layout and implementation of a program. To be more precise, I'm having difficulty finding a good way to come up with an action plan before I dive in to the programming part. I really want to know what classes, methods, and objects I would need beforehand instead of just adding them along the way. My intuition is leading me to using some kind of charting software that gives a hierarchal view of all the classes and methods. I've been using OmniGraffle Pro and while it does seem to work somewhat, I'm still having trouble planning out the program in its entirety. How should I approach this problem? What softwares out there are available to help with this problem? Any good reads out there on this issue? Thanks so much! Edit: Oh yeah, I'm using Eclipse and I code mainly in Java right now.

In my code I set my visibleRect like this: btnSearch.setVisibleRect(-64,-80,16,16); So when I run my code with firebug the html looks like this: <img border="0" style="width: 16px; height: 16px; background: url(&quot;http://tempest/deltaflow/Content/Images/icon.png&quot;) no-repeat scroll 64px 80px transparent;" src="http://127.0.0.1:8888/trunkui/clear.cache.gif"> Why is the '-' left off? When I edit it with firebug to have the '-' it works fine.

  • How to pull UIImages from NSData from a socket.

    Hey all! I'm using ASyncSocket to move some UIImages from one device over to another. Essentially, on one device I have: NSMutableData *data = UIImageJPEGRepresentation(image, 0.1); if(isRunning){ [sock writeData:data withTimeout:-1 tag:0]; } So a new image will be added to the socket every so often (like a webcam). Then, on the other device, I am calling: [listenSocket readDataWithTimeout:1 tag:0]; which will respond with: - (void)onSocket:(AsyncSocket *)sock didReadData:(NSData *)data withTag:(long)tag { [responseData appendData:data]; [listenSocket readDataWithTimeout:1 tag:0]; } Essentially, what I want to be able to do is have an NSTimer going which will call @selector(PullImages): -(void) PullImages { In here, I want to be able to pull images out of ResponseData. How do I do that? There might not be a complete image yet, there might be multiple images, there might be one and a half images! I want to parse the NSData into each existing image! } Any assistance?     I am trying to reset a variable (that updates the src value for an image) when an area of an image map is clicked, so that the hover function calls a different image when the user hovers over another area in the image map. I have a variable called "state" that I set right off the bat.   • How to take snapshot in linux - programmatically C++

    I am currently involved in a project which requires me to repeatedly take snapshots of the screen. I am using qt's grabScreen function to do the same. The screen freezes for half a second every time the program takes a snapshot causing the computer to seem to be very slow :( Can anybody suggest me a better method of doing this ?

    I've written a PL/SQL procedure that would benefit if indexes were first disabled, then rebuilt upon completion. An existing thread suggests this approach: alter session set skip_unusable_indexes = true; alter index your_index unusable; [do import] alter index your_index rebuild; However, I get the following error on the first alter index statement: SQL Error: ORA-14048: a partition maintenance operation may not be combined with other operations ORA-06512: [...] 14048. 00000 - "a partition maintenance operation may not be combined with other operations" *Cause: ALTER TABLE or ALTER INDEX statement attempted to combine a partition maintenance operation (e.g. MOVE PARTITION) with some other operation (e.g. ADD PARTITION or PCTFREE which is illegal *Action: Ensure that a partition maintenance operation is the sole operation specified in ALTER TABLE or ALTER INDEX statement; operations other than those dealing with partitions, default attributes of partitioned tables/indices or specifying that a table be renamed (ALTER TABLE RENAME) may be combined at will The problem index is defined so: CREATE INDEX A11_IX1 ON STREETS ("SHAPE") INDEXTYPE IS "SDE"."ST_SPATIAL_INDEX" PARAMETERS ('ST_GRIDS=890,8010,72090 ST_SRID=2'); This is a custom index type from a 3rd-party vendor, and it causes chronic performance degradation during high-volume update/insert/delete operations. Any suggestions on how to work around this error? By the way, this error only occurs within a PL/SQL block.

  • There's @interface in my @implementation — why is that?

    This is a pretty noobish question – I'm looking at some Cocoa sample code and there's @interface blocks in the .m files as well as the headers. For instance, in the AppDelegate class header, a UIWindow and UI navigation are defined as instance variables, but the @property declarations are actually made in the implementation file. Is there a functional reason for this, is it a stylistic choice, or… ?
