  • Create a CSR in C# using an explicit RSA key-pair

    Using the OpenSSL libraries one can create a CSR (certificate signing request) by doing this: openssl genrsa -out rsa.key 1024 openssl req -new -key rsa.key -out output.csr -config config.txt where config.txt contains the distinguished name to use in the certificate. I would like to do something similar under Windows using C#. However, the method createPKCS10 does not require you to supply an RSA key. Is there a way to get C# to generate an explicit RSA private key and then use that private key to create the CSR?

  • SSL Slow in IE 8.0.7600.16385IC

    I'm having a performance problem on my company's web site using a specific version of IE 8 to load a page using https. Here's what I know. Server: Virtual machine running on VMWare ESX Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition SP 2 Tomcat 6.0.16 Client: Windows XP and Window 7 Internet Explorer 8.0.7600.16385IC Page loads/refreshes in under 1 second using HTTP. Page loads/refreshes in 15-16 seconds in HTTPS using this version of IE. Problem reproduced on multiple client machines with same IE version. Problem reproduced on multiple client machines with different Windows versions (XP and 7). No performance problem using Chrome, Firefox, Opera, or Safari from same machine. No performance problem using other versions of IE 8 on other machines. Slow load causes virtually no CPU, memory, or I/O spike on server or client machine. No performance problem on other sites using HTTPS on same client machine. The pages in question use JavaScript and innerHTML to replace the contents of div elements to create a collapsible menu, and an iframe to display some content. A couple of the div elements contain images. If I remove the iframe and the JavaScript, the performance issues go away. However, rewriting the entire site to make these changes would be very time consuming. We're in the process of replacing the whole site, but it may be 2-3 months before we do so and we really cannot live with this slowdown that long. I've already looked at several IE tuning options, such as disabling add ons, running IE-rereg, and resetting IE, with no luck. Does anyone have any suggestions?

  • Windows path in python

    Hi all. What is the best way to represent a windows directory, for example "C:\meshes\as"? I have been trying to modify a script but it never works because I can't seem to get the directory right, I assume because of the '\' acting as escape character? Thanks, Gareth

  • Paperclip - Validate File Type but not Presence

    I am using paperclip to handle my file uploads, and in one situation I don't want the file to be mandatory. I do however want to make sure it is a specific file type when it is present. I have this: class TestModel < ActiveRecord::Base #stuff has_attached_file :sound #etc... validates_attachment_content_type :sound, :content_type => ['audio/mp3', 'application/x-mp3'] end And when I have no sound file present, it tells me it is not one of the valid content types. I've tried adding '' to the :content_type array, which also doesn't work! I also attempted creating a lambda procedure for the :if property, but I can't get it to run without some kind of error. Anything missing here?

  • Delayed responses for cURL SSL PUTs/POSTs (php) (NSS vs OpenSSL)

    I have two Fedora-based apache webservers making the same SSL PUT/POST calls with php/cURL. One works fine, but with the other the call succeeds but takes a VERY long time to return a response (~10 min). (GETs don't seem affected) The working server's cURL uses OpenSSL for SSL, while the non-working version uses a later version of cURL that uses NSS for SSL I know nothing about SSL implementations or their effect on cURL. What would cause such a significant delay in SSL PUT/POST responses? Any suggestions appreciated- Thanks--

With this regex sed 's|{moslate}.*{/moslate}||g' a.txt a get no output at all but when i add a ? to the regex s|{moslate}.*?{/moslate}||g a.txt (I've read somewhere that it makes the regex non-greedy) i get no match at all, i mean a get the following output {moslate}alho{/moslate}otra{moslate}a{/moslate} How can i get the required output using sed?

  • Using tab key to navigate google search results

    Google the phrase "Humans vs zombies" (just used for an example here, phrase doesn't matter). When you see the search results, put your fingers on the keyboard, and press tab until you get to the first result. It takes me over 10 tabs to get through the "images", "videos", "maps", "advanced search" and other links. (Do you get the same results?) How can I get it so pressing the tab key the first time takes me to the first link? I'm using FF 3.6. How might I be able to greasemonkey this?

  • ASP.NET ListView, custom DataSources, and editing items

    The MSDN walkthroughs provide a number of examples where you can drag a DataSource from the toolbox, run through some simple configuration steps, then drag a ListView onto the screen, point it at the DataSource, and hey - you've got full table editing. Now I'm trying to write my own DataSource class (a class that implements System.Web.UI.IDataSource) and my own DataSourceView class. I now assign an instance of this custom DataSource class to the ListView.DataSource propery. The display of all the items is working well. However, updating, inserting and deleting just is not working. I'm overriding every function I can in my DataSourceView class, and they just aren't being called. This is such a huge topic, I'll focus this question on one simple example: When you press the "Edit" button (the button inside the ItemTemplate with a CommandName of "Edit", you expect the ItemTemplate to be replaced by an EditItemTemplate. This did not happen. The only way I could get it to happen was to handle the onitemediting event. protected void _listViewPublicHolidays_ItemEditing(object sender, ListViewEditEventArgs e) { _listViewPublicHolidays.EditIndex = e.NewEditIndex; _listViewPublicHolidays.DataBind(); } This is hardly a problem, but how come I had to do it at all? In the MSDN walkthroughs where I attach a ListView to a LinqDataSource, this code doesn't have to be written. Can someone who's been here before hazard a guess as to what would be different or missing in my custom datasource?

  • Can IDL create a contour plot colorbar like this?

    At the bottom of this image, you'll see a nice colorbar that matches the colors of the graph correctly: http://stribog.cc.umanitoba.ca/ceos/20100517_00z_prod/ I couldn't find anything that created a color bar with exactly the colors I wanted, it always seemed to involve a spectrum that included colors I didn't use. I have a vector of colors I use for my data. Is there I way I can use that vector to create a color bar with only those colors?

For example, in my python script I'm just trying to use os.chdir("/Users/aaron/Desktop/testdir/") But would like to use os.chdir("~/Desktop/testdir/") I'm getting a no such file or directory error when trying to run this. Any ideas?

  • Performing a clean database creation using msbuild

    So I’m taking a break from writing about other Agile stuff for a post. :)  I’m still going to get back to the other subjects, but this is fun too. Something I’ve done quite a bit of is MSBuild and CI work.  I’m experimenting with ways to improve what I’ve done in the past, particularly around database CI. Today, I developed a mechanism for starting from scratch with your database.  By scratch, I mean blowing away the existing database and creating it again from a single command line call.  I’m a firm believer that developers should be able to get to a known clean state at the database level with a single command and that they should be operating off of their own isolated database to improve productivity.  These scripts will help that. Here’s how I did it.  First, we have to disconnect users.  I did so using the help of a script from sql server central.  Note that I’m using sqlcmd variable replacement. -- kills all the users in a particular database -- dlhatheway/3M, 11-Jun-2000 declare @arg_dbname sysname declare @a_spid smallint declare @msg varchar(255) declare @a_dbid int set @arg_dbname = '$(DatabaseName)' select @a_dbid = sdb.dbid from master..sysdatabases sdb where sdb.name = @arg_dbname declare db_users insensitive cursor for select sp.spid from master..sysprocesses sp where sp.dbid = @a_dbid open db_users fetch next from db_users into @a_spid while @@fetch_status = 0 begin select @msg = 'kill '+convert(char(5),@a_spid) print @msg execute (@msg) fetch next from db_users into @a_spid end close db_users deallocate db_users GO Once all users are booted from the database, we can commence with recreating the database.  I generated the script that is used to create a database from SQL Server management studio, so I’m only going to show the bits that weren’t generated that are important.  There are a bunch of Alter Database statements that aren’t shown. First, I had to find the default location of the database files in the install, since they can be in many different locations.  I used Method 1 from a technet blog and then modified it a bit to do what I needed to do.  I ended up using dynamic SQL because for the life of me, I couldn’t get the “Filename” property to not return an error when I used anything besides a string.  I’m dropping the database first, if it exists.  Here’s the code:   IF EXISTS(SELECT 1 FROM [master].[sys].[databases] WHERE [name] = N'$(DatabaseName)') BEGIN drop database $(DatabaseName) END; go IF EXISTS(SELECT 1 FROM [master].[sys].[databases] WHERE [name] = 'zzTempDBForDefaultPath') BEGIN DROP DATABASE zzTempDBForDefaultPath END; -- Create temp database. To make this work, you’ll need msbuild in your path, and then run the following command: msbuild database.target /target:Rebuild Once you’ve got your virgin database setup, you’d then need to use a tool like dbdeploy.net to determine that it was a virgin database, build a change script based on the change scripts, and then you’d want another sqlcmd call to update the database with the appropriate scripts.  I’m doing that next, so I’ll post a blog update when I’ve got it working.   • Python unicode Decode Error SUDs

  • Csharp: I am trying to get the top nth values from and rectangular array

    I am reading a txt file for strings that represent intergers. the file is space delimited. I have created an array[10,2]. evertime the the strings 1~10 is found in the file I increment array[n,0] by 1. I also feed array[n,1] with numbers 1~10. ie txt file contents: 1/1/1 10/1/2001 1 1 10 2 2 3 1 5 10 word word 3 3 etc.. streamreader reads 1/1/1 and determines that is is not 1~10 streamreader reads 10/1/2001 and determines that it is not 1~10 streamreader reads 1 and ++array[0,0] streamreader reads 1 and ++array[0,0] streamreader reads 10 and ++array[9,0] etc.. the result will be: '1' was found 3 times '2' was found 2 times '3' was found 3 times '5' was found 1 time '10' was found 2 times My problem is that I need this array placed in order(sorted) by value of column 0 so that it would be: 1 3 2 10 5

  • cakephp redirecting to wrong relative address (htaccess?)

    Hi All: I have an issue with not getting the correct relative url. Right now, say my home page is at (please ignore quotation) "http://www.foo.com/user/home" I have links on the homepage that should go to "http://www.foo.com/user/home/page1" but right now I'm getting "http://www.foo.com/page1" Everything worked locally, can this be fixed with modifying .htaccess and how? Thank you.

  • WiX major upgrade! Need different behaviors for different components...

    Okay! I have finally more closely identified the problem I'm having. In my installer, I was attempting to get a settings file to REMAIN INTACT on a major upgrade. I finally got this to work with the suggestion to set <InstallExecuteSequence> <RemoveExistingProducts After="InstallFinalize" /> </InstallExecuteSequence> This is successful in forcing this component to leave the original, not replacing it if it exists: <Component Id="Settings" Guid="A3513208-4F12-4496-B609-197812B4A953" NeverOverwrite="yes"> <File Id="settingsXml" KeyPath="yes" ShortName="SETTINGS.XML" Name="Settings.xml" DiskId="1" Source="\\fileserver\Release\Pathways\Dependencies\Settings\settings.xml" Vital="yes" /> </Component> HOWEVER! This is a problem! I have another component listed here: <Component Id="Database" Guid="1D8756EF-FD6C-49BC-8400-299492E8C65D" KeyPath="yes"> <File Id="pathwaysMdf" Name="Pathways.mdf" DiskId="1" Source="\\fileserver\Shared\Databases\Pathways\SystemDBs\Pathways.mdf" Vital="yes"/> <File Id="pathwaysLdf" Name="Pathways_log.ldf" DiskId="1" Source="\\fileserver\Shared\Databases\Pathways\SystemDBs\Pathways.ldf" Vital="yes"/> </Component> And this component MUST BE REPLACED on a major upgrade. I can only accomplish this so far by setting <RemoveExistingProducts After="InstallInitialize" /> THIS BREAKS THE FIRST FUNCTIONALITY I NEED WITH THE SETTINGS FILE. HOW CAN I DO BOTH?!

    Is there a way from JRuby to introspect on a Java object and find out its Java-land methods? Like what http://github.com/oggy/looksee provides, but for Java. Or like (someobject).methods - 1.methods This would be nice for just taking a look at what a Java object provides versus the APIDoc for it.
