  • Java3D: Problem with order of objects that have a transparent PNG texture

    Hello! Today I tried to program a little fish tank with Java 3D. The fish tank rotates and fishes are placed in it. The fishes in the box are Java 3D Boxes with a PNG picture that has an alpha channel. Without activated transparency the order of the objects is correct. But when I enable it, some fishes in the back come to the front what looks really wrong. I tried NICEST, FASTEST and BLENDED as Transparency Options but I had no effort. Does someone know what the problem could be?   • HTTP downloads slow - FTP of same file very fast - Windows 2003

    I am having some issues with download speeds on my site via http, i am averaging around 70kbps downloading a file that is around 70mb. But if i connect to my server via FTP and download the same file on the same computer / connection i am averaging about 300+kbps. I know my server has alot of connections at any one time, probably around 400 connections. My server has a 1gbps connection to the internet so there is plenty of bandwidth available, as proven with the FTP. I have no throttling of any kind enabled in IIS.   • Project Server 2007 Task Updates hangs on 'Loading Grid...'

    A strange problem began occurring after applying MOSS2 (KB953334) and the August 2009 cumulative update to our Project server. When a user enters the 'Task Update' screen they are prompted to download a new ActiveX control. Upon refresh, and subsequent access attempts, the user is presented with a blank grid with the caption 'Loading Grid...' We have attempted to fix this issue by updating the 'Trusted Sites' list and changing the security settings according to KB818046. However, nothing seems to definitely fix the problem. Also, when the problem randomly fixes itself, it still occurs when viewing specific projects. Any ideas on a fix?

  • How do I reset the $PATH variable on Mac OS X?

    I've messed up my path variable, and now some apps that I run raise errors saying Command Not Found (error 127) for commands like 'date' and 'sleep'. These commands work fine when executed directly in the shell. I'm guessing this has something to do with a malformed $PATH variable, and need to know how to reset it. I've deleted the files ~/.bashrc , ~/.bash_profile, /etc/bash.bashrc, and ~/.bashrc and ~/.profile. What other files could hold my $PATH? Is there some simpler way to reset the Path than dig into the myriad files which could hold my path? Note, this path problem is only with my user. I made a test user on my system, and the path was fine, back to normal.

    Is their any profilers that support Silverlight? I have tried ANTS (Version 3.1) without any success? Does version 4 support it? Any other products I can try?   • How to read piped input in Perl?

    I am trying to create something in Perl that is basically like the Unix "tee" command. I'm trying to read each line of STDIN, run a substitution on it, and print it. (And eventually, also print it to a file.) This works if I'm using console input, but if I try to pipe input to the command it doesn't do anything. Here's a simple example: print "about to loop\n"; while(<STDIN>) { s/2010/2009/; print; } print "done!\n"; I try to pipe the dir command to it like this: C:\perltestdir | mytee.pl about to loop done! Why is it not seeing the piped input?

  • Swap unique indexed column values in database.

    I have a database table and one of the fields (not primary key) is having unique index on it. Now I want to swap values under this column for two rows. How could this be done? Two hack I know are: Delete both rows and re-insert them Update rows with some other value and swap and then update to actual value. But I don't want to go for these as they do not seem to be the appropriate solution to the problem. Could anyone help me out?

  • Open Javascript dialog from Opensocial gadget

The problem is that the window gets blocked by the popup blockers. I know this is possible because facebook gadget does that. Any ideas please?

  • SSIS Package deployed - Fails when executed from schedule

    I've deployed a SSIS package to my SQL server. I can run the package fine by connecting to Integration Services in SSMS and right clicking on it and choosing "Run Package" However, if I schedule the package, it fails. It tells me to check the logs for information on why, but there is nothing in there... Any ideas? (this is my first SSIS package by the way)

  • What does O(log n) mean exactly?

    I am currently learning about Big O Notation running times and amortized times. I understand the notion of O(n) linear time, meaning that the size of the input affects the growth of the algorithm proportionally...and the same goes for, for example, quadratic time O(n2) etc..even algorithms, such as permutation generators, with O(n!) times, that grow by factorials. For example, the following function is O(n) because the algorithm grows in proportion to its input n: f(int n) { int i; for (i = 0; i < n; ++i) printf("%d", i); } Similarly, if there was a nested loop, the time would be O(n2). But what exactly is O(log n)? For example, what does it mean to say that the height of a complete binary tree is O(log n)? I do know (maybe not in great detail) what Logarithm is, in the sense that: log10 100 = 2, but I cannot understand how to identify a function with a logarithmic time.

  • Model in sub-directory via app_label?

    In order to place my models in sub-folders I tried to use the app_label Meta field as described here. My directory structure looks like this: project apps foo models _init_.py bar_model.py In bar_model.py I define my Model like this: from django.db import models class SomeModel(models.Model): field = models.TextField() class Meta: app_label = "foo" I can successfully import the model like so: from apps.foo.models.bar_model import SomeModel However, running: ./manage.py syncdb does not create the table for the model. In verbose mode I do see, however, that the app "foo" is properly recognized (it's in INSTALLED_APPS in settings.py). Moving the model to models.py under foo does work. Is there some specific convention not documented with app_label or with the whole mechanism that prevents this model structure from being recognized by syncdb?

  • Does Meta Refresh work during page load?

    Page A has a meta refresh to redirect to another page, C, after a certain amount of time (time T). From page A a link is clicked that takes a long time to load, longer than time T, and would eventually load another page; B. Will the meta refresh on page A cause the page to be re-directed to C, or will the processing of the link override the meta refresh, eventually loading page B?

  • How do I change the frame position for a custom MKAnnotationView?

    I am trying to make a custom annotation view by subclassing MKAnnotationView and overriding the drawRect method. I want the view to be drawn offset from the annotation's position, somewhat like MKPinAnnotationView does it, so that the point of the pin is at the specified coordinates, rather than the middle of the pin. So I set the frame position and size as shown below. However, it doesn't look like I can affect the position of the frame at all, only the size. The image ends up being drawn centered over the annotation position. Any tips on how to achieve what I want?   • (For what) Are Fortran, Cobol and Co. used today?

    I'm a relatively young programmer and so I don't really know much about languages like Fortran or Cobol that have their origins in the beginning of modern informatics. I'm a bit confused because it seems like there are many people out there saying that these two languages are still very alive and being used all over the world whereas others say the opposite. In addition, it seems like there are only very few questions tagged Fortran or Cobol here on stackoverflow. Can someone "demystify" the situation for me? Who uses these senior languages these days and are they even used anymore? Do you have any experiences with one of the languages or do you know something about their latest developments?

  • Blackberry - Custom size EditField

    I am trying to put together a dialog that should look like this: Fill in the below fields ___________ likes ________________ where the "_" lines are the EditFields. I am sticking all the fields in a HorizontalFieldManager, which I add to the dialog. Unfortunately, the first EditField consumes all the space on the first line. I have tried to override the getPreferredWidth() method of the EditField by creating my own class extending BasicEditField, but have had no success. Surely there must be a simple way to force a certain size for an edit field. What am I missing?

  • Determine how an application is closed

    I am trying to determine if my application is closed through clicking the "X" on the windows form, or if they clicked an "Exit" button I have on it. Right now I am using StackTrace.GetFrame(someIndex) to determine how, but i am looking for a more definitive way since it looks like these frame orders arent guaranteed. Is there a better way to make the distinction? This is a .NET 3.5 WinForm, and Im writing in C#.

  • XmlTextWriter.WriteFullEndElement tags on the same line

    I am using an XMLTextWriter to create an XML document dynamically (in VB.Net). I want empty tags to appear like this - <Tag></Tag> and not this - <Tag /> So, I am using WriteFullEndElement to end the element tag. But it is writing out the tag as - <Tag> </Tag> i.e. with a newline character between the tags. The web service reading this XML rejects it due to the newline character. How do I avoid the newline, and have both the start and end tags on the same line?
