  • Display Pdf Stream on page load with Binary Write

    - by Israfel
I have a pdf file being generated on the fly which I want to display inline on pageload, as below Response.Clear() Response.AppendHeader("Content-Disposition", "inline; filename=_Bulk_Print.pdf") Response.ContentType = "application/pdf" Response.BinaryWrite(docData) Response.End() If I put this in a click event it works perfectly but when on page load I Just get a blank aspx page despite the fact it's stepping through that code and the generation of the DocData no problem. Does anyone know the reason for this or a workaround, thanks for your help.

  • How to set ReceiveBufferSize for UDPClient? or Does it make sense to set? C#

    - by Jack
Hello all. I am implementing a UDP data transfer thing. I have several questions about UDP buffer. I am using UDPClient to do the UDP send / receive. and my broadband bandwidth is 150KB/s (bytes/s, not bps). I send out a 500B datagram out to 27 hosts 27 hosts send back 10KB datagram back if they receive. So, I should receive 27 responses, right? however, I only get averagely 8 - 12 instead. I then tried to reduce the size of the response down to 500B, yes, I receive all. A thought of mine is that if all 27 hosts send back 10KB response at almost same time, the incoming traffic will be 270KB/s (likely), that exceeds my incoming bandwidth so loss happens. Am I right? But I think even if the incoming traffic exceeds the bandwidth, is the Windows supposed to put the datagram in the buffer and wait for receive? I then suspect that maybe the ReceiveBufferSize of my UdpClient is too small? by default, it is 8092B?? I don't know whether I am all right at these points. Please give me some help.

  • How do you uninstall a ClickOnce application that doesn't appear in Add/Remove Programs?

    - by digiduck
I'm getting the following error when I try to install one of my ClickOnce applications: An application for this deployment is already installed with a different application identity. I understand this is because I have used the same Application Identity but moved the deployment URL. I'd like to just uninstall the existing ClickOnce application and install from the new deployment location, however the existing application does not show in Add/Remove Programs. How can I remove the existing ClickOnce application so that it will let me install from the new location?

  • Regex replace help

    - by Jeremy
    Using the .NET framework, I'm trying to replace double slash characters in a string with a single slash, but it seems to be removing an extra character and I don't know why. I have a string: http://localhost:4170/RCRSelfRegistration//Default.aspx My regex is: [^(://|:\\\\)](\\\\|//|\\/|/\\) And the return value is: http://localhost:4170/RCRSelfRegistratio/Default.aspx You can see that the n in RCRSelfRegistration has been removed. I am not sure why. /// <summary> /// Match on double slashes (//, \\, /\, \/) but do not match :// or :\\ /// </summary> private const string strMATCH = @"[^(://|:\\\\)](\\\\|//|\\/|/\\)"; /// <summary> /// Replace double slashes with single slash /// </summary> /// <param name="strUrl"></param> /// <returns></returns> public static string GetUrl(string strUrl) { string strNewUrl System.Text.RegularExpressions.Regex rxReplace = new System.Text.RegularExpressions.Regex(strMATCH); strNewUrl = rxReplace.Replace(strUrl, "/"); return strNewUrl; }

  • HTML5 apps

Right now nobody’s interested in a mobile solution that does not contain the words “iPhone” and “app” and that is not submitted to a closed environment where it competes with approximately 2,437 similar mobile solutions.Compared to the current crop of mobile clients and developers, lemmings marching off a cliff follow a solid, sensible strategy. Startling them out of this obsession requires nothing short of a new buzzword. Therefore I’d like to re-brand standards-based mobile websites and applications,...Did you know that DotNetSlackers also publishes .net articles written by top known .net Authors? • Advanced Data Source Engine coming to Telerik Reporting Q1 2010

This is the final blog post from the pre-release series. In it we are going to share with you some of the updates coming to our reporting solution in Q1 2010. A new Declarative Data Source Engine will be added to Telerik Reporting, that will allow full control over data management, and deliver significant gains in rendering performance and memory consumption. Some of the engines new features will be: Data source parameters - those parameters will be used to limit data retrieved from the data source to just the data needed for the report. Data source parameters are processed on the data source side, however only queried data is fetched to the reporting engine, rather than the full data source. This leads to lower memory consumption, because data operations are performed on queried data only, rather than on all data. As a result, only the queried data needs to be stored in the memory vs. the whole dataset, which was the case with the old approach Support for stored procedures - they will assist in achieving a consistent implementation of logic across applications, and are especially practical for performing repetitive tasks. A stored procedure stores the SQL statements and logic, which can then be executed in different reports and/or applications. Stored Procedures will not only save development time, but they will also improve performance, because each stored procedure is compiled on the data base server once, and then is reutilized. In Telerik Reporting, the stored procedure will also be parameterized, where elements of the SQL statement will be bound to parameters. These parameterized SQL queries will be handled through the data source parameters, and are evaluated at run time. Using parameterized SQL queries will improve the performance and decrease the memory footprint of your application, because they will be applied directly on the database server and only the necessary data will be downloaded on the middle tier or client machine; Calculated fields through expressions - with the help of the new reporting engine you will be able to use field values in formulas to come up with a calculated field. A calculated field is a user defined field that is computed "on the fly" and does not exist in the data source, but can perform calculations using the data of the data source object it belongs to. Calculated fields are very handy for adding frequently used formulas to your reports; Improved performance and optimized in-memory OLAP engine - the new data source will come with several improvements in how aggregates are calculated, and memory is managed. As a result, you may experience between 30% (for simpler reports) and 400% (for calculation-intensive reports) in rendering performance, and about 50% decrease in memory consumption. Full design time support through wizards - Declarative data sources are a great advance and will save developers countless hours of coding. In Q1 2010, and true to Telerik Reportings essence, using the new data source engine and its features requires little to no coding, because we have extended most of the wizards to support the new functionality. The newly extended wizards are available in VS2005/VS2008/VS2010 design-time. More features will be revealed on the product's what's new page when the new version is officially released in a few days. Also make sure you attend the free webinar on Thursday, March 11th that will be dedicated to the updates in Telerik Reporting Q1 2010. • What is a quick way to report login/logout times on Windows 2003?

    - by blueberryfields
I have about a dozen servers, and I am looking to quickly find out all of the login/logout times, for a subset of users, for all servers, during January. Is there a quick, easy way to get this information (faster and easier than manually combing through the security logs)? I would rather not replicate any work - are there any publicly posted tools or scripts that already implement a solution to this problem?

  • Custom signature for Gmail mobile

    - by pilcrow
Is it possible to use a custom signature for Gmail to be used only when accessed over an iPhone or other mobile device? While I don't find the Sent from my [iPhone|mobile device] siglines to be very pretty, they are a convenient way to explain and excuse the brevity and occasional typo in mobile email.

  • How can I find out which service is keeping Vista from restarting?

    - by Jeff
Running Vista on my Toshiba laptop for several years now. Recently, I noticed it will not restart - I have to power cycle it. I have enabled Verbose Status messages, so I know it's stuck at "Stopping services". Is there a way to figure out which service is not stopping? I'm hoping for some kind of log like the bootlog. I've tried looking through the event viewer - no luck there.

  • Disabling partition just for one OS on multi-boot system

    - by Emiswelt
Hi Regarding to the solution there: http://serverfault.com/questions/36385/how-can-i-mount-a-hard-drive-as-read-only-on-windows-xp I have a system with three partitions. One runs windows 7, one runs windows XP and is for some experimental programming and testing. I don't want to mess up anything, so I am going to disable the windows 7 partition like described on the linked page above from windows XP to protect the operating system. When I do this, is the windows 7 partition only disabled for the running XP os, or is the windows 7 partition rendered unbootable? with best regards

  • How can I change the binding order of network adapters in Windows 7?

    - by Chris Farmer
The end goal here is that I am trying to install an Oracle 10g server on my Windows 7 x64 dev box. I use DHCP, and the Oracle installer is throwing up this warning: Checking Network Configuration requirements ... Check complete. The overall result of this check is: Failed <<<< Problem: The install has detected that the primary IP address of the system is DHCP-assigned. Recommendation: Oracle supports installations on systems with DHCP-assigned IP addresses; However, before you can do this, you must configure the Microsoft LoopBack Adapter to be the primary network adapter on the system. See the Installation Guide for more details on installing the software on systems configured with DHCP. I have installed the loopback adapter, but I am not sure how to make it the primary network adapter. I see this Microsoft KB article on the subject but it's Windows XP-oriented, and I can't seem to find a comparable one for Windows 7. Some of the options it talks about don't seem to be present in the views of the adapters that I see. So, how can I make the loopback adapter become the primary adapter?

    - by WindyCityEagle
I've got a WinForms project that I've had for quite some time, and now suddenly, I can't open the designer anymore and when I try to open the designer I get an error that says could not find type 'System.Collections.Generic.List' All of the code builds just fine, but I can't use the designer anymore, and I don't know what happened, nor do I have any idea where to look to solve the problem. Has anyone ever run into this or have any insight?

  • Facebook Connect Statistics

    - by thekevinscott
All, A client is asking for Facebook Connect statistical data. Specifically, how many people have shared a link to their wall. I have a Facebook app setup but I am having trouble interpreting the statistical data. Do Facebook apps collect this data, or can anyone think of any way of gleaning this data from the past month, from server logs or something? For instance, can I look at the logs for xd_receiver.htm and see usage patterns from that, or something?

  • Javascript new keyword and memory management

    - by Whyamistilltyping
Coming from C++ it is hard grained into my mind that everytime I call new I call delete. In javascript I find myself calling new occasionally in my code but (hoping) the garbage collection functionality in the browser will take care of the mess for me. I don't like this - is there a 'delete' method in javascript and is how I use it different from in C++? Thanks.

  • Register applications via Registry table rather than TLBs

We register the capabilities of Delphi applications using TLB files. However, from reading MSDN documentation, "Installation package authors are strongly advised against using the TypeLib table. Instead, they should register type libraries by using the Registry table". Does anyone have any advice on how to do this in a 'Delphi' way for Windows 7?
