• git-receive-pack : command not found.

  I made a git repo on a local machine with "git init --bare" and added it as the remote origin on the project on my main computer with ssh: git add remote origin [email protected]:repoName.git I was able to make a commit and push from my main computer to the other computer the day I created the repo, but today i tried and it didn't work. When I did "git push origin" it returned this error: bash: line 1: git-receive-pack: command not found fatal: The remote end hung up unexpectedly The two machines are mac the main one running Leopard and the server one running Tiger. • How to block a sub-domain in windows?

  How can i block a sub-site of a website as e.g. http://example.com/someSite unfortunately the hosts file is not an option since you can only block whole domains there and any "/" just destroys these rules. this is just for my personal protection against visiting some sites too often, while i still have to be able to get to the other sites of that domain (as e.g. example.com/someOtherSite) would be great if someone knows a solution regarding this topic

• How to make VIM settings computer-dependent in .vimrc?

  I share my VIM configuration file between several computers. However, I want some settings to be specific for certain computers. For example, font sizes on the high-res laptop should be different to the low-res desktop. And more importantly, I want gVIM on Windows to behave more windowsy and MacVim on OSX to behave more maccy and gVIM on Linux to just behave like it always does. (That might be a strange sentiment, but I am very used to switch mental modes when switching OSes) Is there a way to make a few settings in the .vimrc machine- or OS-dependent?

• dual boot with windows and linux

  hi, i have windows xp installed. Recently i installed suse linux and afterwhich suse linux is the main OS to be booted up. However suse rovide options to boot windows 1 (window xp) during boot up. If i uninstall suse linux (i've tried), windows won't be able to be booted up as the grub master boot will be corrupted. my question is: is there a software tool which can be booted on cd to modify the master boot record so as to reduce much effort??

• Why when I log in my two screens shows the same image automatically?

• recent unreliable wireless connection with Netgear KWGR614 router

  Recently, my internet connection over wireless ( via a Netgear KWGR614 router ) has become unreliable, on both a Dell laptop running Ubuntu 10.04 as well as my Desktop running Ubuntu 10.10 . The problem does not seem to occur on a laptop running Windows Vista, nor on a Desktop running Windows 7 ( this machine is connected with an ethernet cable ). The problem does not seem to occur on my Openmoko Freerunner ( running Android 1.5 ), though I hardly ever use this device to connect over WLAN, so the problem may have just slipped by. On my main Ubuntu Desktop, I have tried the following wireless devices: a Longshine PCI card ( an old device with an RTL8180L chip ) a D-Link DWL-510 PCI card ( this device threw warnings in dmesg ) a USB device from MSI ( US54EX ). Usually my wireless network shows up in the network manager with a normal signal strength, even when the connection speed is slow or the connection gets reset ( asking me to click connect to re-authenticate my wireless connection ). I know that this router is susceptible to denial of service attacks, as I have previously been able to disrupt its operation by putting an nmap scan into a while loop. Is it possible that someone is jamming my signal ?

• Getting front audio jacks to work

  I run Ubuntu 10.10 on my Intel D945. My front audio ports don't work in Ubuntu, the rear one does. I never got it working earlier when I had Ubuntu 10.04 but this time I am going to try it again. • How long till HTML5 canvas becomes a viable game development platform?

  So I have been working on web application. So invariably what it boils down to is making simple games which were previously based on flash or openGL. Now I know apple was moving away from flash because its proprietary unlike their stance that its got "pathetic performance"! Not true, try playing a canvas game, I can assure you at any point of time (including when its idle) it will use up a fair bit of processing power just to redraw the UI. Now I do understand that this is my fault because when the game is not active I should not be redrawing the canvas, but honestly its a lot of work and I suppose there should be libraries which should be able to assist me with that! So, how much will it be before I see a decent canvas library which handles these "tiny" issues for me? I can't honestly expect Steve Jobs to be doing anything more for HTML5! I someone knows of a good library, I am all ears...! :) PS: I use mootools and am presently using Mootools Canvas Library.

• Obtaining a world point from a screen point with an orthographic projection

  I assumed this was a straightforward problem but it has been plaguing me for days. I am creating a 2D game with an orthographic camera. I am using a 3D camera rather than just hacking it because I want to support rotating, panning, and zooming. Unfortunately the math overwhelms me when I'm trying to figure out how to determine if a clicked point intersects a bounds (let's say rectangular) in the game. I was under the impression that I could simply transform the screen point (the clicked point) by the inverse of the camera's View * Projection matrix to obtain the world coordinates of the clicked point. Unfortunately this is not the case at all; I get some point that seems to be in some completely different coordinate system. So then as a sanity check I tried taking an arbitrary world point and transforming it by the camera's View*Projection matrices. Surely this should get me the corresponding screen point, but even that didn't work, and it is quickly shattering any illusion I had that I understood 3D coordinate systems and the math involved. So, if I could form this into a question: How would I use my camera's state information (view and projection matrices, for instance) to transform a world point to a screen point, and vice versa? I hope the problem will be simpler since I'm using an orthographic camera and can make several assumptions from that. I very much appreciate any help. If it makes a difference, I'm using XNA Game Studio.

• How does Blizzard manage to support Mac OS and Windows in their games?

  I've always thought, that using Direct X for Windows was the most powerful, easy and modern method to create games with modern graphics nowdays. And knowing, that it's only Windows I thinks it's pretty difficult to make something similar on other platforms (Mac OS to be exact). But Blizzard somehow managed to deliver Starcraft 2 for Mac OS, and Diablo 3 will be available for Mac too. So what I'm interested in is information about: what technologies are they using for their game engines? are they using one engine for both games (Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3)? Or develop custom for each game? what are they paying in terms of time and money for Mac OS support? Thanks

• Virtual audio driver (microphone)

  Hello guys, I want to develop a virtual microphone driver. Please, do not say anything about DirectShow - that's not "the way". I need a solution that will work with any software including Skype and MSN. And DirectShow doesn't fit these requirements. I found AVStream Filter-Centric Simulated Capture Driver (avssamp.sys) in Windows 7 WDK. What I need is an audio part of it. By default it reads avssamp.wav and plays it. But this driver is registered as WDM streaming capture device. And I want it in Audio Capture Device. • UIPickerView crashing when switching segemented control

  Hello, I have four NSDictionaries that I would like to use to populate a pickerview depending on a segemented control. With the code I have, the first segmented control/pickerview works fine but when I switch to the second segment the picker view only loads part of the second dictionary, that is it loads the same number of rows as it counted in the first dictionary. When I change the segmented control to the third or fourth segment it simply crashes with a sigabrt error indicating that it cannot index item43 when only 27 exist. This I suspect stems from a UItextfield population based on the upickerview row and object. • Stay on current page after POST

  I have a form which once the Submit button is pressed, it goes to a blank page and returns any error messages on that blank page. However I have a website template and I wish that my script is run, and returns the the page which did the action POST and puts any error messages on that page. Example of what is happening: PAGE REQUESTS POST ---- SCRIPT RUNS --- RETURNS ERROR MESSAGE What I want it to do is: PAGE REQUESTS POST --- SCRIPT RUNS ---- GOES TO THE PAGE WHICH REQUESTED POST ---- SHOWS ANY ERROR MESSAGES WHICH THE SCRIPT PICKED OUT.

• Python: How to quit CLI when stuck in blocking raw_input?

  I have a GUI program which should also be controllable via CLI (for monitoring). The CLI is implemented in a while loop using raw_input. If I quit the program via a GUI close button, it hangs in raw_input and does not quit until it gets an input. How can I immediately abort raw_input without entering an input? I run it on WinXP but I want it to be platform independent, it should also work within Eclipse since it is a developer tool. Python version is 2.6. I searched stackoverflow for hours and I know there are many answers to that topic, but is there really no platform independent solution to have a non-blocking CLI reader? If not, what would be the best way to overcome this problem? Thanks

• How can I configure Devise for Ruby on Rails to store the emails and passwords somewhere other than in the user model?

  I'd like to store emails in a separate table and allow users to save multiple emails and log in with any of them. I'd also like to store passwords in a different table. How can I configure Devise to store authentication info elsewhere? Worst case scenario, if I just have to hack into it, is there a generator to just port everything over to the app? • Port AS3/Flex app to iPhone

  I believe Adobe tools like CS5 have ways to output as an iPhone app, but what about a regular AS3 or Flex project? Are there any tools to auto-port, or AS3/Flex iPhone implementations out there? Out of interest, how does the CS5 thing work? Is it a totally different code-path or something less drastic? For instance Flash supports Shapes and Timelines, etc... do they in fact provide an iPhone Flash runtime of some sort?

• UITextField in UITableViewCell Help

  Hello All, I have scoured the internet looking for a good tutorial or posting about having a UITableView populated with a UITextField in each cell for data entry. I want to keep track of each UITextField and the text written within it while scrolling. The tableView will be sectioned. I have been using a custom UITableViewCell but I'm open to any method. Also, is it possible to use the textFields as ivars? If any of you could point me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!
