  I would like to enable SMB2 on a FAS 2050 running Data ONTAP 7.3.2 as by default it is disabled. I have discovered that to enable SMB2 the following option must be set: options cifs.smb2.client.enable on Does this require a restart of cifs to take affect or just does it start working magically? Also will this change persist across a reboot?

• Apache LogFormat IP Address

  I am using the following LogFormat in my httpd.conf: LogFormat "%h %l %u %t \"%r\" %>s \"%{Referer}i\" \"%{User-Agent}i\" %a %t" combined It's working ok, but for some reason the IP address is coming out as ::1. Is there a particular reason why Apache isn't logging the users IP address? Thanks

• Arguments of using WCF/OData as access layer instead of EF/L2S/nHibernate directly

  We develop mostly low traffic but highly specialized web applications. Normally we use L2S, EF or nHibernate as access layer and then throws Asp.Net MVC to it and in which for normal crud operations we query the ISession/DataContext directly but for more advanced functions/side effects we put it in a some kind of service layer. Now, i was think about publishing the data through OData (WCF Data Service) and query that from the controllers (or even from jQuery when the a good template engine shows up) and publish the service operations through a WCF service (or as custom methods on the WCF Data Service?). What advantages/disadvantages does this architecture poses? Do I gain something except higher complexity and latency? Better separations of concerns (or is it just a illusion)?

• How do I send floats in window messages.

  Hi, What is the best way to send a float in a windows message using c++ casting operators? The reason I ask is that the approach which first occurred to me did not work. For the record I'm using the standard win32 function to send messages: PostWindowMessage(UINT nMsg, WPARAM wParam, LPARAM lParam) What does not work: Using static_cast<WPARAM>() does not work since WPARAM is typedef'ed to UINT_PTR and will do a numeric conversion from float to int, effectively truncating the value of the float. Using reinterpret_cast<WPARAM>() does not work since it is meant for use with pointers and fails with a compilation error. I can think of two workarounds at the moment: Using reinterpret_cast in conjunction with the address of operator: float f = 42.0f; ::PostWindowMessage(WM_SOME_MESSAGE, *reinterpret_cast<WPARAM*>(&f), 0); Using an union: union { WPARAM wParam, float f }; f = 42.0f; ::PostWindowMessage(WM_SOME_MESSAGE, wParam, 0); Which of these are preffered? Are there any other more elegant way of accomplishing this?

  Is there any way to change the name of a dynamic assembly after it has been created? I'm using a framework that uses dynamic methods, and it is creating a dynamic assembly with the same name as my main assembly (which causes problems with WPF when it tries to load resources). So I need to find a workaround, and I thought of trying to change the name of the dynamic assembly. I've tried using GetName() and then setting the Name property, but it appears that GetName returns a clone of the name because my change doesn't stick. What else can I try?

• Can't access web service when connected to the network :: HTTP 407

  Hi All, I have a console application that communicates with a web service. Both of them are on the same machine. When I am accessing the web service with the LAN disabled, it connects without a problem. But if the LAN is enabled and connected to our office network, I receive this error: "HTTP 407 Proxy Authentication required - The ISA Server requires authorization to fulfill the request. Access to the Web Proxy service is denied." We've been hunting the source of the problem for three days now. We have tried everything that we can think of. Any ideas what's causing the problem? Additional notes: - The machine is in a Workgroup setup but with DNS suffix (computer.local). When accessing the web service, we type the address as "http://machine.computer.local/service.asmx" I talked to the IT guys and they said that we don't have an ISA server installed There is no "proxy" set in IE. The machine is in mint condition.

• Not showing error when calling another function in Spring

  Hello, I have a controller with 2 methods. The first one just add some lists to the model (the lists of my comboboxes) and return a JSP with a form. The second one validates the data and if there aren't errors it saves the data. The code looks like this: public String showForm(Model model){ //load some data into some lists return "tiles:myJSPfile"; } public String save(@Valid @ModelAttribute("MyData") Data data, BindingResult result, Model model){ if(result.hasErrors()){ //there are errors: show form with error messages //(but I need to reload the combobox lists) return showForm(model); } //save data } The problem is that in this way I don't see the error messages in the form (though I see by the debugger that it has found errors). I've thought that the problem comes because the showForm method doesn't have the error messages because it can't see the BindingResult, so I've added BindingResult as a parameter of showForm method, but it still doesn't work. I've added My Model Attribute as well but I get the same problem. If I just return the JSP file in the save method I can see the errors, but in this way I would need to add again in this other method the lists I had already added in the showForm (duplicated code). I can't save the data in session scope so it's compulsory to get again the lists after getting the error. if(result.hasErrors()){ //there are errors: show form with error messages return "tiles:myJSPfile"; } Why are errors not shown when I call a function to display my JSP different from the one I used for the validation? What's the best way to do this? Thanks.

• Possible to repair garbled Chinese filenames?

  I'm downloading via FTP some files with chinese names (BIG5 encoded), and Filezilla displays those filenames as garbage (as FTP cannot handle any encoding other than ASCII and UTF-8, as least the standard compliant ones). Given a filename with garbled characters, is it possible for me to repair the encoding and get a proper filename String given that I already know the source encoding? Will the FTP client misinterpreting BIG5 as UTF-8 insert bytes that make conversion back to BIG5 difficult?

• Reloading a JTree during runtime

  I create a JTree and model for it out in a class separate to the GUI class. The data for the JTree is extracted from a file. Now in the GUI class the user can add files from the file system to an AWT list. After the user clicks on a file in the list I want the JTree to update. The variable name for the JTree is schemaTree. • Implementing IPermission

  Hi there, I'm considering writing a custom IPermission implementation but am not clear as to how it should work. I've already implemented IPrincipal and IIdentity. What I would like to accomplish is to be able to check permissions vis a vis the current IPrincipal's authorizations rather than its roles. Generally, authorizations are read/add-delete/update/none for a given type. So I would like to write something like this: [CustomPermission(SecurityAction.Demand, Type = typeof(Foo), MinimumAuthorization = AuthorizationFlags.Read)] public void SomeMethod(){} Is this possible? I've looked over the code at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.security.ipermission.aspx. This shows how to implement the interface, but I don't understand how the above pseudo-code would be able to check against the IPrincipal's authorizations for the type. Any help or resource references would be appreciated. Joni

• Has glassfish 2.1.1 a bug handling http request and handle them twice?

  I'm using glassfish 2.1.1. I've watched a mysterious http/webservice-call handling. It seams an http request is handled by two different threads. After http basic authentication the first thread is faster. Persisting some data end, but writing response fails in glassfish internal. The second thread fails, because it tries to persist identical data and there are (unique) constrain failures. The response (the failure) of second thread was delivered to client. I don't won't discuss the behavior with the unique constrain failure. I've improve the webservice, so it can handle this better, because it could be happen anytime, that the client send the ws call a second time. But I think, glassfish 2.1.1 has an bug handling http request. Is there any known issue? Have I done an mistake? • Size SKU in Magento

  Hi, How can I allow SKU be longer than 34 characters (for simple products) for all products? When i add new product(simple) and enter more than 34 characters, Magento cuts it to 34 after saving. In the database the 'sku' attributes ( for quete item,order item,invoice item, shipment item) from eav_attribute table hold varchar(255). For Catalog_Product_Entity the attributed is VarChar(64). In either case, it is more than 34characters. Thus, I could change SKU to 64 characters without making any change in database, correct? How do i do that? I have good understanding of the user side magento code, but not Admin side. Can you suggest me good tutorial on making changes in Admin side that could help me figure this question myself.   Hi, I am trying to understand type members in Scala. I wrote a simple example that tries to explain my question. First, I created two classes for types: class BaseclassForTypes class OwnType extends BaseclassForTypes Then, I defined an abstract type member in trait and then defined the type member in a concerete class: trait ScalaTypesTest { type T <: BaseclassForTypes def returnType: T } class ScalaTypesTestImpl extends ScalaTypesTest { type T = OwnType override def returnType: T = { new T } } Then, I want to access the type member (yes, the type is not needed here, but this explains my question). Both examples work. Solution 1.   Hi Guys, i created an additional content type called "clients" where I can create new client records. I mostly reference to this type to retrieve data. Now I'd like to make this content type inaccessible from the outside world. Any idea how that works? Thanks in advance!
