  • Probability Question

    - by Juddling
if i pick 10 numbers from a possible 80. what is the probablity for someone else picking the same 10 numbers as me? or just 4 numbers? or no numbers? i think it's no matches: 10/80 one match: 10*9/80*79 so the formula would be (10!/matches!)/(80!/matches!) is this right? i've only just started doing this at A-level and i need it for a game script i'm making.

  • Override as_json or to_json model class name

  • Double request from mod-rewrite

    - by Dave
I've written a module that sets Apache environment variables to be used by mod-rewrite. It hooks into ap_hook_post_read_request() and that works fine, but if mod-rewrite matches a RewriteRule then it makes a second call to my request handler with the rewritten URL. This looks like a new request to me in that the environment variables are no longer set and therefore I have to execute my (expensive) code twice for each hit. What am I doing wrong, or is there a work around for this? Thanks

  • Greasemonkey: load url using GM_xmlhttpRequest and createContextualFragment

    - by Dave
I have the following GreaseMonkey Script: GM_xmlhttpRequest({ method: 'GET', url: "http://www.testurl.com", headers: { 'User-agent': 'Mozilla/4.0 (compatible) Greasemonkey/0.3', }, onload: function(responseDetails) { var tagString = responseDetails.responseText; var range = document.createRange(); range.selectNode(document.body); var documentFragment = range.createContextualFragment(tagString); How do I now extract stuff from documentFragment? documentFragment.getElementById(''), document.body etc all returns undefined. I suspect this is due to the createContextualFragment method returning a XPCNativeWrapper object, but how do I work around this to access the underlying DOM? Thanks

  • Is there anything wrong with my texture loading method ?

    - by José Joel.
    I'm a noob in openGL and trying to learn as much as possible. I'm using this method to load my openGL textures, loading every .png as RGBA4444. I'm doing anything incorrect ? - (void)loadTexture:(NSString*)nombre { CGImageRef textureImage =[UIImage imageWithContentsOfFile:[[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:nombre ofType:nil]].CGImage; if (textureImage == nil) { NSLog(@"Failed to load texture image"); return; } textureWidth = NextPowerOfTwo(CGImageGetWidth(textureImage)); textureHeight = NextPowerOfTwo(CGImageGetHeight(textureImage)); imageSizeX= CGImageGetWidth(textureImage); imageSizeY= CGImageGetHeight(textureImage); GLubyte *textureData = (GLubyte *)calloc(1,textureWidth * textureHeight * 4); // Por 4 pues cada pixel necesita 4 bytes, RGBA CGContextRef textureContext = CGBitmapContextCreate(textureData, textureWidth,textureHeight,8, textureWidth * 4,CGImageGetColorSpace(textureImage),kCGImageAlphaPremultipliedLast ); CGContextDrawImage(textureContext, CGRectMake(0.0, 0.0, (float)textureWidth, (float)textureHeight), textureImage); //Convert "RRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGBBBBBBBBAAAAAAAA" to "RRRRGGGGBBBBAAAA" void *tempData = malloc(textureWidth * textureHeight * 2); unsigned int* inPixel32 = (unsigned int*)textureData; unsigned short* outPixel16 = (unsigned short*)tempData; for(int i = 0; i < textureWidth * textureHeight ; ++i, ++inPixel32) *outPixel16++ = ((((*inPixel32 >> 0) & 0xFF) >> 4) << 12) | // R ((((*inPixel32 >> 8) & 0xFF) >> 4) << 8) | // G ((((*inPixel32 >> 16) & 0xFF) >> 4) << 4) | // B ((((*inPixel32 >> 24) & 0xFF) >> 4) << 0); // A free(textureData); textureData = tempData; CGContextRelease(textureContext); glGenTextures(1, &textures[0]); glBindTexture(GL_TEXTURE_2D, textures[0]); glTexImage2D(GL_TEXTURE_2D, 0, GL_RGBA, textureWidth, textureHeight, 0, GL_RGBA, GL_UNSIGNED_SHORT_4_4_4_4 , textureData); free(textureData); glTexParameterf(GL_TEXTURE_2D, GL_TEXTURE_MIN_FILTER, GL_LINEAR); glTexParameterf(GL_TEXTURE_2D, GL_TEXTURE_MAG_FILTER, GL_LINEAR); } And this is my dealloc method: - (void)dealloc { glDeleteTextures(1,textures); [super dealloc]; }

  • MySQL and GROUP_CONCAT() maximum length

    - by zewaren
Hello everyone, I'm using GROUP_CONCAT() in a MySQL query to convert multiple rows into a single string. However, the maximum length of the result of this function is 1024 characters. I'm very well aware that I can change the param group_concat_max_len to increase this limit: SET SESSION group_concat_max_len = 1000000; However, on the server I'm using, I can't change any param. Not by using the preceding query and not by editing any configuration file. So my question is: Is there any other way to get the output of a multiple row query into a single string? Thank you for your answers.

Hello everyone, I have an applet that communicates with a servlet using Http (Not sockets). Currently, each instance of the applet (i.e. when each applet is run by a different client on a different computer), all the instances communicate with the same servlet. What I want is that each instance of the applet communicate with different instances of the same servlet. Is this possible?

  • recognizing a link in an email

    - by Rob Bonner
Is there a mechanism where I can identify a string in an email, say a order number, and have it route to my iPhone application? I know that base types do this, but not sure if I can create a new type for my app. Thanks!

  • c program for this quesion

    - by sashi
suppose that a disk drive has 5000 cylinders, numbered 0 to 4999. the drive is currently serving a request at cylinder 143 and the previous request was at cylinder 125. the ueue of pending requests in the given order is 86,1470,913,17774,948,1509,1022,1750,130. write a 'c' program for finding the total distance in cylinders that the disk arm moves to satisfy all the pending reuests from the current heads position, using SSTF scheduling algorith. seek time is the time for the disk arm to move the head to the cylider containing the desired sector. sstf algorithm selects the minimum seek time from the current head position.

  • UITableViewCell selected subview ghosts

    - by Jonathan Cohen
Hi all, I'm learning about the iPhone SDK and have an interesting exception with UITableViewCell subview management when a finger is pressed on some rows. The table is used to assign sounds to hand gestures -- swiping the phone in one of 3 directions triggers the sound to play. Selecting a row displays an action sheet with 4 options for sound assignment: left, down, right, and cancel. Sounds can be mapped to one, two, or three directions so any cell can have one of seven states: left, down, right, left and down, left and right, down and right, or left down and right. If a row is mapped to any of these seven states, a corresponding arrow or arrows are displayed within the bounds of the row as a subview. Arrows come and go as they should in a given screen and when scrolling around. However, after scrolling to a new batch of rows, only when I press my finger down on some (but not all) rows, does an arrow magically appear in the selected state background. When I lift my finger off the row, and the action sheet appears, the arrow disappears. After pressing any of the four buttons, I can't replicate this anymore. But it's really disorienting and confusing to see this arrow flash on screen because the selected row isn't assigned to anything. What haven't I thought to look into here? All my table code is pasted below and this is a screencast of the problem: http://www.screencast.com/users/JonathanGCohen/folders/Jing/media/d483fe31-05b5-4c24-ab4d-70de4ff3a0bf Am I managing my subviews wrong or is there a selected state property I'm missing? Something else? Should I have included any more information in this post to make things clearer? • jQuery: modify hidden form field value before submit

    - by Jason Miesionczek
I have the following code in a partial view (using Spark): <span id="selectCount">0</span> video(s) selected. <for each="var video in Model"> <div style="padding: 3px; margin:2px" class="video_choice" id="${video.YouTubeID}"> <span id="video_name">${video.Name}</span><br/> <for each="var thumb in video.Thumbnails"> <img src="${thumb}" /> </for> </div> </for> # using(Html.BeginForm("YouTubeVideos","Profile", FormMethod.Post, new { id = "youTubeForm" })) # { <input type="hidden" id="video_names" name="video_names" /> <input type="submit" value="add selected"/> # } <ScriptBlock> $(".video_choice").click(function() { $(this).toggleClass('selected'); var count = $(".selected").length; $("#selectCount").html(count); }); var options = { target: '#videos', beforeSubmit: function(arr, form, opts) { var names = []; $(".selected").each(function() { names[names.length] = $(this).attr('id'); }); var namestring = names.join(","); $("#video_names").attr('value',namestring); //alert(namestring); //arr["video_names"] = namestring; //alert($.param(arr)); //alert($("#video_names").attr('value')); return true; } }; $("#youTubeForm").ajaxForm(options); </ScriptBlock> Essentially i display a series of divs that contain information pulled from the YouTube API. I use jQuery to allow the the user to select which videos they would like to add to their profile. When i submit the form i would like to populate the hidden field with a comma separated list of video ids. Everything works except that when i try to set the value of the field, in the controller on post, the field comes back empty. I am using the jQuery ajax form plugin. What am i doing wrong that is not allowing the value i set in the field to be sent to the server?

  • Can in-memory SQLite databases scale with concurrency?

    - by Kent Boogaart
In order to prevent a SQLite in-memory database from being cleaned up, one must use the same connection to access the database. However, using the same connection causes SQLite to synchronize access to the database. Thus, if I have many threads performing reads against an in-memory database, it is slower on a multi-core machine than the exact same code running against a file-backed database. Is there any way to get the best of both worlds? That is, an in-memory database that permits multiple, concurrent calls to the database?

  • Updating Samba From RPMs

    - by KnickerKicker
My Red Hat Enterprise Edition 4 comes with Samba Version 3.0.10, which does not have support for the "inherit owner" attribute that is essential in implementing a Deny-Delete Write Once Read Many share (for examples, search google for a-shared-drop-box-using-samba). (BTW, if any body knows an alternative way to do it without updating samba, I'm all ears!) I am not all that comfortable building from source, and after hours of googling (no, I do not have a red hat subscription, so I cannot just run the up2date command), I found a whole bunch of rpms on http://ftp.sernet.de/pub/samba/tested/rhel/4/i386/ (Samba 3.2.15 for RHEL 4)... Next, I tried updating them with the rpm -U --nodeps command, but I got file conflict errors. So I went ahead and overwrote everything (or so I thought) by using the rpm's --force option. But no good has come of all that. /usr/sbin/smbd -V still returns the old version. As of now, rpm -qa | grep samba returns, samba3-client-3.2.15-40.el4 samba-3.0.10-1.4E.2 samba-client-3.0.10-1.4E.2 system-config-samba-1.2.21-1 samba3-3.2.15-40.el4 samba-common-3.0.10-1.4E.2 samba3-winbind-3.2.15-40.el4 I cannot remove the older ones because samba-common >= 3.0.8-0.pre1.3 is needed by (installed) gnome-vfs2-smb-2.8.2-8.2.x86_64 libsmbclient.so.0()(64bit) is needed by (installed) kdebase-3.3.1-5.8.x86_64 libsmbclient.so.0()(64bit) is needed by (installed) gnome-vfs2-smb-2.8.2-8.2.x86_64 Now thats a whole bunch of dependencies that I dare not touch :) Any and all pointer are welcome at this stage. Thanks in advance!

  • Google Docs: Tie the Form with a Spreadsheet to email addresses and responses?

    - by Nick Gorbikoff
Hello. I'm just trying to figure out if I'm doing something wrong or it's not possible. I created a small form ( I'm trying to get current mailing addresses from my friends and relatives - since I lost my address book) and it ties to a Google Spreadsheet. I sent out a sample to my work address - filled out a form and saved it. However when I go to see the responses - in a spreadsheet - it has a time stamp but it has no email associated with a response - so I don't know who made it ( well in this case I know it's me - but when you have 100 replies?) I understand - it may be great for anonymous surveys - but in this case I'd like to know who responded with what - and I don't wan to make them fill out Email and First Name & Last Name - I already have this information. Any suggestions?

  • Our New Website Header (& Other Tweaks)

    - by justin.kestelyn
Last week, the Oracle Technology Network Website went fixed-width. There are several reasons for this, most relating to providing a consistent user experience, easier management of Website content, etc. Furthermore, it's fairly standard for developer portals these days - java.sun.com, MSDN, and IBM DeveloperWorks are also all fixed-width sites. (My apologies to everyone who is unhappy about this change, but it really is an overall positive one.) Today, we have rolled out a brand-new header, the first step in what we call the "Mosaic" project - which is an effort to make the user experience across all Oracle Websites more consistent. To summarize the impact: The "pull-down" menus on the OTN site disappear; most of them move into a "flyout" button in the header. You can access the OTN flyout from any page on Oracle.com or the OTN site. Great for our page views. :) You also have direct access to the Downloads index from anywhere on Oracle.com. If you so desire, you can directly access product overviews, Oracle University and Support info, Oracle Store, etc etc from the OTN site now. Due to limited space in the flyout we cannot accommodate *all* the pull-down items, but they are all no more than 1 or 2 clicks away. This approach has been validated in extensive user testing over the last few months; I welcome your feedback now in comments. There are many other changes in train, with the next one being: A major homepage redesign, the first in 4 or 5 years.

  • JQuery and IE8 - Form posting on tab change

    - by Tommy
This issue is only happening in IE8 - Firefox 3.5 seems to handle it fine. I have JQuery UI tabs setup on a page. Within each tab is a form that users can do stuff from. I have defined in the select option of the using: $("#tabs").tabs({select: function(event, ui) {...}}); a submitForm function that submits the form of the tab the user was on previous to changing tabs. This all works in all browsers. The issue comes in that IE does both the POST of the form on the previous tab and the GET for content of the newly requested tab and or really close to the same time (from what I can tell walking through the debugger). As a result, if a tab is dependent on the form input from another tab, the data is stale - does not match the user input from the previous tab. How can I either a) force the POST to complete before rendering the next tab or b) force IE to not make the POST and GET for the next tab at the same time?...or c) some other option?

We're collaborating on a new ASP.MVC 1.0 app. He's done some pretty amazing stuff that I'm just getting my head around, and used some 3rd party tools etc. for datagrids etc. but... He rarely uses Submit buttons whereas I use them most of the time. He uses a button but then attaches Javascript to it that calls an MVC action which returns a JSON object. He then parses the object to update the datagrid. I'm not sure how he deals with server-side validation - I think he adds a message property to the JSON object. A sample scenario would be to "Save" a new record that then gets added to the gridview. The user doesn't see a postback as such, so he uses jQuery to disable the UI whilst the controller action is running. TBH, it looks pretty cool. However, the way I'd do it would be to use a Submit button to postback, let the ModelBinder populate a typed model class, parse that in my controller Action method, update the model (and apply any validation against the model), update it with the new record, then send it back to be rendered by the View. Unlike him, I don't return a JSON object, I let the View (and datagrid) bind to the new model data. Both solutions "work" but we're obviously taking the application down different paths so one of us has to re-work our code... and we don't mind whose has to be done. What I'd prefer though is that we adopt the "industry-standard" way of doing this. I'm unsure as to whether my WebForms background is influencing the fact that his way just "doesn't feel right", in that a "submit" is meant to submit data to the server. Any advice at all please - many thanks.

  • Overriding Constructors in F#

    - by kim3er
How would I write the following C# code in F#? namespace Shared { public class SharedRegistry : PageRegistry { public SharedRegistry(bool useCache = true) : base(useCache) { // Repositories ForRequestedType<IAddressRepository>().TheDefaultIsConcreteType<SqlAddressRepository>(); ForRequestedType<ISharedEnquiryRepository>().TheDefaultIsConcreteType<SharedEnquiryRepository>(); // Services ForRequestedType<IAddressService>().TheDefaultIsConcreteType<AddressService>(); ForRequestedType<ISharedEnquiryService>().TheDefaultIsConcreteType<SharedEnquiryService>(); } } } As is as far as I have managed, but I can't work out to inherit from PageRegistry at the same time as declaring my own default constructor. type SharedRegistry(useCache: bool) = inherit PageRegistry(useCache) new() = new SharedRegistry(true) Rich
