  • Why won't SSI work in IIS?

    - by Josh Kodroff
I can't get IIS to respect my SSI directives - it just outputs the #include directive as if it were regular old html. Here's the relevant data points: My file with the include directive is called index.html This is my directive: <!-- #include file = "header.shtml" --> (it doesn't work with virtual either.) The file being requested is in the same directory as the file being #include-ed. The SSI module is installed. The SSINC-shtml handler mapping is present and enabled. I think it might be some sort of permissions issue (read/write/execute), but I don't know where those settings are in IIS 7.5.

  • How to change the mail domain server so it's not displaying IP? Changing [email protected] to [email protected]

    - by Pavel
Hi guys. I'm kinda a noob as a server admin so please bear with me. I've installed postfix mail server and everything is working fine but the 'from' box is displaying [email protected]. I want to set it up so it displays domainname.com instead of IP. I just hope you know what I mean. My main.cf in postfix folder looks like this: # See /usr/share/postfix/main.cf.dist for a commented, more complete version # Debian specific: Specifying a file name will cause the first # line of that file to be used as the name. The Debian default # is /etc/mailname. myorigin = /etc/mailname smtpd_banner = $myhostname ESMTP $mail_name (Ubuntu) biff = no # appending .domain is the MUA's job. append_dot_mydomain = no # Uncomment the next line to generate "delayed mail" warnings #delay_warning_time = 4h readme_directory = no # TLS parameters smtpd_tls_cert_file=/etc/ssl/certs/ssl-cert-snakeoil.pem smtpd_tls_key_file=/etc/ssl/private/ssl-cert-snakeoil.key smtpd_use_tls=yes smtpd_tls_session_cache_database = btree:${data_directory}/smtpd_scache smtp_tls_session_cache_database = btree:${data_directory}/smtp_scache # See /usr/share/doc/postfix/TLS_README.gz in the postfix-doc package for # information on enabling SSL in the smtp client. myhostname = mail.thevinylfactory alias_maps = hash:/etc/aliases alias_database = hash:/etc/aliases myorigin = /etc/mailname mydestination = mail.thevinylfactory.com, thevinylfactory, localhost.localdomain, localhost relayhost = mynetworks = 127.0.0.0/8 [::ffff:127.0.0.0]/104 [::1]/128 mailbox_size_limit = 0 recipient_delimiter = + inet_interfaces = all Can anyone help me with this one? If you need any more details please let me know. Thanks in advance!

  • Rails 3 + Nginx + Passenger -- Routing index

    - by Bijan
I have no index.html file in my public folder. My rails routes file routes this, and it works fine when I run 'rails server' on my machine. I'm trying to deploy the app. I have passenger and nginx running When I run rails server on my local machine, it works fine. But it's just trying to access static file when I try to access it on the production server. Here's my nginx conf: worker_processes 1; #pid logs/nginx.pid; events { worker_connections 1024; } http { passenger_root /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.9.1/gems/passenger-3.0.2; passenger_ruby /usr/bin/ruby; include mime.types; default_type application/octet-stream; sendfile on; keepalive_timeout 65; server { listen 80; server_name mmjconsult.com; root /www/mmjs/public; access_log logs/host.access.log; passenger_enabled on; } } Thank you for any help. I really appreciate it.

  • Have two exchange servers to communicate together

    - by Data-Base
We have Exchange Server 2007 using our domain ddd.com. We created an isolated network with a firewall/gateway and installed a DC and Exchange Server 2010 using a demo/test domain (ddd.loc). We opened all the needed ports in the firewall (10.10.2.88) to the Exchange Server 2010. In our main Domain Controller (10.10.2.3) we defined the domain ddd.loc with IP 10.10.2.88 (firewalls). We also we defined MX records to the same IP (10.10.2.88) We did that so when we send email from my email [email protected] it will go to the Exchange Server 2010. Anyways, all the pings test from to any servers are OK. But we are not able to send or receive emails. Between these Exchange Servers we can not send any email from the 2010 to any email in general (emails are pending). Also, in Exchange 2007 we are getting error #550 5.1.1 RESOLVER.ADR.RecipNotFound; not found ##

  • Windows xp keeps rebooting itself every morning at 8am?

    - by mark
Hi, I've got windows xp sp3. It seems to restart itself every morning at 8am (judging by the windows logs, I can see all apps log a startup at 8am every day). Whenever I get to the machine in the morning (around 9 am) I see it's rebooted. I've checked that automatic updates are off, and that the power management settings are set to "always on". I'm not sure what else could be causing the machine to reboot, not sure where to start looking. Any ideas? Thanks ---------- update ---------------- Just looking at the Event Viewer, I see a log message at 8:00:47am every day, which looks like a reboot log statement: Microsoft (R) Windows (R) 5.01.2600 Service Pack 3 Multiprocessor Free. • Outlook 2010 Rules on an IMAP Account

    - by Sonny
I have an IMAP account set up in Outlook 2010. This account receives notices from scheduled tasks. It receives a LOT of messages. I want to filter the messages that contain error reports into a new folder. I created a rule in Outlook that looks for specific text in the message. The problem is that the filter doesn't seem to see the text unless I have already viewed the message. How can I work around this limitation? EDIT This post was originally for Outlook 2003. I am now using Outlook 2010.

  • Wireless router setup for 1-1 NAT

    - by Carlos
What I have: A linksys router WAG160N with firmware version 2 A "pool" of 5 external static IP's provided by my ISP 213.xx.xxx.n All the required configuration values for the static IPs such as (Subnet Mask, Gateway and static DNS 1, 2, 3) Current WAN Configuration: Encapsulation: RFC 2364 PPPoA Multiplexing: VC QoS type: UBR DSL modulation: MultiMode What's connected to the network: 1 x Server (That I want to make available to the outside) 5 x Desktops with static internal IP's, such as 192.168.0.xx 2 x Network printers, also with internal static IP's 2 x Laptops 1 x NAS (Network Attached Storage) also on static IP What I want to do: I would like to make the server available from outside the network, for example from your house. The problem is that Im not really sure how to do this. I have tried following the steps on the instruction manual in Linksys but they do not seem to work, once I set it up as shown bellow, I loose internet and all hell breaks loose. Going into further detail, I would prefer if the network is changed as little as possible, by this I mean that all the computers stay networked within eachother and only the server is accessible from the outside the network. What I need HELP with: I have read around that it is possible to set a 1-1 NAT (I know where it is in the menu but have no clue what it does...) so that I can NAT a single public IP directly to a single private IP (in our case the server). But please, How do I do that? Or maybe an alternative?

  • Trouble cloning a Macbook Pro hard drive

    - by Mirko Froehlich
I am trying to upgrade the 250GB hard drive in my MacBook Pro (early 2008 model) to a 750GB drive. I have connected the new drive via an external USB enclosure. The drive is recognized fine, I can format it, etc. However, every time I try to clone the drive, I am getting Input/Output errors. Before the clone operation, I have verified both the internal and the external drive using Disk Utility, and they both check out fine. After the clone operation, the external drive shows multiple "Invalid node structure" errors: I have tried two approaches for cloning the drive: Using Disk Utility, by starting from the OSX install DVD Using Carbon Copy Cloner The outcome is the same in both cases. The Carbon Copy Cloner logs show a handful of the following types of errors: rsync: mkstemp "<... an external filename ...>" failed: Input/output error (5) rsync: stat "<... an external filename ...>" failed: Input/output error (5) The actual files affected seem to be different across different runs of the application. Before the last run, I used Disk Utility to (once more) reformat the external drive and explicitly overwrite it with zeros, but this made no difference. I also tried running a surface scan in Tech Tool Pro overnight. It got about 2/3 of the way through before I had to disconnect the drive (had to take my MacBook Pro to work), but so far it didn't report any bad blocks. Assuming it scans the drive in the same order in which blocks would be allocated during actual use, it seems like if bad blocks were to blame for the clone failures, they should have been found already (given that the source drive is only 250GB). As a last attempt, I may try SuperDuper as well, although my understanding is that it uses the same underlying rsync approach as Carbon Copy Cloner, so it's unlikely to perform any better. Are there any other things I should try before I send the drive in for a replacement? Could these problems be caused by my internal drive, even though it works fine and checks out fine in Disk Utility?

  • Notebook display problem (multiplication)

    - by SubniC
Hi, I'm having some troubles with the display of a LG E500 notebook. The thing is that without any known reason the display starts to show the screen divided in eigth parts and each part show the display image as if I had a matrix of eigth displays :) I thought it could be some kind of refresh rate problem or driver related, but it is happening at boot-up as well and the BIOS. I got the computer completely unassambled yesterday and I check all the wires and connectors looking for something broken or unconected, but without luck... You can see a picture here of the problem (sorry for the low quality, but I think it illustrate the problem. EDIT 1: I uploaded a new pictrue, here you cans ee the problem better :) There are three horizontal lines that you can see just between the windows. You can see the grey line at the first moment you turn on the computer and the after the duplicated screens show up just like if they where arranged over a grid (over the horizontal lines...) I hope it makes any sense. Do you know what could be happening? or can you tell me what would you do? Thank you very much for your help.

  • MS Access Query Criteria Issue

    - by xxl3ww
Currently I have a MS Access database query that has a field named FedEXDetTotal that totals 9 FedEX charge fields. I have another field that is from our inhouse system called "Total Charge". This is just a normal number field. I have created another Field in this query Diff: [FedEXDetTotal]-[Total Charge] This tells me the difference between the Fedex charge and what we actually charged. Everything works OK with this, but when I try to put the criteria 5 for the Diff field, when I run the query, I get a prompt saying "Enter Parameter Value FedEXDetTotal". Why is Access doing this? How do I get around this? I'm trying to start out with something simple(5), but what I really want is [Forms]![Dis].[txtbox_Diff].

  • Wireless adapter won't enable

    - by user52141
I bought a d-link dwa-125, plugged it in and windows recognized it right away and said everything was good to go. But there were no connection options. When I open up the network control panel and have it show me the adapters... the wireless adapter is greyed out and says it is disabled. So I tell it to enable. It says is it enabling, then says it is enabled... but the adapter stayed greyed out saying disabled. I am running 7 x64. I have reinstalled drivers, connected it via lan and had it update drivers.. same problem. It works just fine on any other computer in the house, just not this one.

  • File type actions for ruby scripts

    - by Kovags
Hello, I just installed the Ruby interpreter and created the file test.rb. In the Folder Options, I created the rb file type and an action called Run and assigned the application C:\Ruby192\bin\ruby.exe "%1"" So It's possible for to get into the Windows XP command line and run the script simply by doing this: C:\>test.rb But when I need to send parameters to the script, I can't simply do the following: C:test.rb parameter1 parameter2 I'll have to do the following instead: C:\Ruby192\bin\ruby.exe c:\test.rb parameter1 parameter2 I just noticed that I'm able to edit the action the following way to pass more parameters: C:\Ruby192\bin\ruby.exe "%1" "%2" "%3"" That allows me to give 2 parameters to the script, but for some cases I need to pass a handful of parameters and it doesn't seem right for me to append "%5" "%6" "%7" ad nauseam. What's the canonical way to do it?

  • Getting GTalk and Alt-Tab to play nice

    - by Steve Armstrong
I'm running GTalk on Windows 7, and it refuses to work properly with Alt-Tab. Let's say I've got 2 message windows open (msg1 and msg2) and the contact list, as well as Firefox. Alt-tab from Firefox to msg1 works, but now the contact list is the most recent thing in the alt-tab list (not Firefox as expected). Then there's the problem that I can't use alt-tab to select a specific message window, and when switching back to msg2 (showing msg2 in the alt-tab window) it might switch back and have focus on msg1. I found this thread complaining about the same problem, but it's over a year old, and I'm hoping some progress has been made.

  • Ubuntu 10.10: 2nd instance of Firefox does not obey GTK2 customizations

    - by Cocoro Cara
Hi On Ubuntu 10.10 I started a 2nd instance of Firefox using the command: $ firefox -ProfileManager -no-remote & Created a new profile and everything works smoothly except for the fact that this instance of FF does not obey by GTK2 customizations that I have placed in ~/.gtkrc-2.0 Moreover, only SOME of the customizations are not obeyed. For example, the vertical scrollbars are supposed to be on the left, but they are on the right. The scrollbar arrows are together (Mac-like) as specified, so is the scrollbar width. The first instance obeys all customizations with scrollbars on the left. Any ideas?

  • Sony VGN-NR260E "External Device Boot"

    - by user72158
[A LITTLE BACKGROUND] On all modern Dell computers pushing the F12 on bios boot will allow for a screen that lets you choose what boot option you need. For example if I want to boot off of a USB flash drive to boot into a live Linux distribution in order to clean virus's on netbooks that do not have CD drives to boot from I would push F12 and choose USB device from the list of options. If this does not show up then I can always go to the F2 bios setup and choose flash drive to be the first option. When I restart the computer it will boot into the flash device. I understand that I can purchase an external USB CD drive and then boot from that. I do not want to use that option. The reason for using a flash device instead of a CD is: A: This USB flash device has several different boot OS's on it that are used. B: The antivirus disks are updated often and burning cd's and throwing away others is wasteful compared to simply updating a flash drive. There is nothing wrong with the flash drive. It works perfect on many other PC's. [PROBLEM] Booting this flashdrive has been working for years on hundreds of computers... I just have this ONE computer that I cannot figure out how to get it to boot on... I have a Sony Vaio that will not boot to this device. I've tried pushing every key combo I can think of (F12, Esc, Del, F10...) and none of these key combinations will bring up the boot menu. I chose F2 and went into the bios and changed the first boot device to USB flash device. This did not work either. There is an astrix next to the device and the note states: "This Drive is available when External Device Boot is Enable." [WHAT I NEED] I need to know How to enable External Device Boot on the Sony Vaio VGN-NR260E laptop. OR How to bring up the Boot Menu to allow me to boot off a flash device. Thanks for anyone that can help!

  • From the Tips Box: Pre-installation Prep Work Makes Service Pack Upgrades Smoother

    - by Jason Fitzpatrick
Last month Microsoft rolled out Windows 7 Service Pack 1 and, like many SP releases, quite a few people are hanging back to see what happens. If you want to update but still error on the side of caution, reader Ron Troy  offers a step-by-step guide. Ron’s cautious approach does an excellent job minimizing the number of issues that could crop up in a Service Pack upgrade by doing a thorough job updating your driver sets and clearing out old junk before you roll out the update. Read on to see how he does it: Just wanted to pass on a suggestion for people worried about installing Service Packs.  I came up with a ‘method’ a couple years back that seems to work well. Run Windows / Microsoft Update to get all updates EXCEPT the Service Pack. Use Secunia PSI to find any other updates you need. Use CCleaner or the Windows disk cleanup tools to get rid of all the old garbage out there.  Make sure that you include old system updates. Obviously, back up anything you really care about.  An image backup can be real nice to have if things go wrong. Download the correct SP version from Microsoft.com; do not use Windows / Microsoft Update to get it.  Make sure you have the 64 bit version if that’s what you have installed on your PC. Make sure that EVERYTHING that affects the OS is up to date.  That includes all sorts of drivers, starting with video and audio.  And if you have an Intel chipset, use the Intel Driver Utility to update those drivers.  It’s very quick and easy.  For the video and audio drivers, some can be updated by Intel, some by utilities on the vendor web sites, and some you just have to figure out yourself.  But don’t be lazy here; old drivers and Windows Service Packs are a poor mix. If you have 3rd party software, check to see if they have any updates for you.  They might not say that they are for the Service Pack but you cut your risk of things not working if you do this. Shut off the Antivirus software (especially if 3rd party). Reboot, hitting F8 to get the SafeMode menu.  Choose SafeMode with Networking. Log into the Administrator account to ensure that you have the right to install the SP. Run the SP.  It won’t be very fancy this way.  Maybe 45 minutes later it will reboot and then finish configuring itself, finally letting you log in. Total installation time on most of my PC’s was about 1 hour but that followed hours of preparation on each. On a separate note, I recently got on the Nvidia web site and their utility told me I had a new driver available for my GeForce 8600M GS.  This laptop had come with Vista, now has Win 7 SP1.  I had a big surprise from this driver update; the Windows Experience Score on the graphics side went way up.  Kudo’s to Nvidia for doing a driver update that actually helps day to day usage.  And unlike ATI’s updates (which I need for my AGP based system), this update was fairly quick and very easy.  Also, Nvidia drivers have never, as I can recall, given me BSOD’s, many of which I’ve gotten from ATI (TDR errors). How to Enable Google Chrome’s Secret Gold IconHTG Explains: What’s the Difference Between the Windows 7 HomeGroups and XP-style Networking?Internet Explorer 9 Released: Here’s What You Need To Know

  • RetinaPad Enables Retina Display for iPhone Apps on the iPad

    - by Jason Fitzpatrick
RetinaPad is an iPad application that actives the Retina Display resolution on iPhone applications to increase the clarity on the iPad. It’s a feature that should be built-in but is currently only available for jailbroken iPads. The premise is simple. Currently iPads lack support for the Retina Display level resolution that iPhone apps are capable of if displaying. RetinaPad allows you to stop using the ugly and blocky simple doubling available on the iPad and start accessing the higher resolution Retina Display mode for iPhone applications on the iPad. It’s such a trivial thing that it’s outright shameful Apple doesn’t include it by default. You should have to jailbreak your device to unlock functionality that should be there right from the factory. Check out the demo video below to see it in action: Fire up your jailbroken iPad, launch Cydia and search for RetinaPad. Retina Pad is $2.99, iPad only. • The How-To Geek Guide to Audio Editing: Cutting, Trimming & Arranging

    - by YatriTrivedi
Audacity novices often start with lofty project ideas, but sometimes they lack the basics. Knowing how to cut and trim tracks is basic audio editing and is a fundamental starting point for making more elaborate arrangements. For this exercise, I’ll be making a ringtone from a Castlevania: Symphony of the Night track. I have the original CD and used that so I started with better quality audio than an MP3. You can follow along with any file you like, just so you get a feel for cutting, trimming, and arranging sound clips for yourself.
