• How do I tell gcc to relax its restrictions on typecasting when calling a C function from C++?

  I'm trying to use Cmockery to mock C functions called from C++ code. Because the SUT is in C++, my tests need to be in C++. When I use the Cmockery expect_string() macro like this: expect_string(mock_function, url, "Foo"); I get: my_tests.cpp: In function ‘void test_some_stuff(void**)’: my_tests.cpp:72: error: invalid conversion from ‘void*’ to ‘const char*’ my_tests.cpp:72: error: initializing argument 5 of ‘void _expect_string(const char*, const char*, const char*, int, const char*, int)’ I see in cmockery.h that expect_string is defined: #define expect_string(function, parameter, string) \ expect_string_count(function, parameter, string, 1) #define expect_string_count(function, parameter, string, count) \ _expect_string(#function, #parameter, __FILE__, __LINE__, (void*)string, \ count) And here's the prototype for _expect_string (from cmockery.h): void _expect_string( const char* const function, const char* const parameter, const char* const file, const int line, const char* string, const int count); I believe the problem is that I'm compiling C code as C++, so the C++ compiler is objecting to (void*)string in the expect_string_count macro being passed as the const char* string parameter to the _expect_string() function. I've already used extern "C" around the cmockery.h include in my_tests.cpp like this: extern "C" { #include <cmockery.h> } ...in order to get around name-mangling problems. (See "How do I compile and link C++ code with compiled C code?") Is there a command-line option or some other means of telling g++ how to relax its restrictions on typecasting from my test's C++ code to the C function in cmockery.c? This is the command I'm currently using to build my_tests.cpp: g++ -m32 -I ../cmockery-0.1.2 -c my_tests.cpp -o $(obj_dir)/my_tests.o

• iPad SDK, how to handle orientation with an UIImageView

  Hello I'm developing an app for iPad and I try to handle multiple orientation. My app contains a webview and a loading UIImageView that appears when my webview is loading content. This UIImageView has a background image that I set in InterfaceBuilder. When I change orientation to landscape, the image is cut. I'd like the UIImageView to set image-portrait.png when the ipad is in portrait mode and image-landscape.png when it's in landscape mode. Thank you for your help and advices! Screenshots :

• Find point which sum of distances to set of other points is minimal

  I have one set (X) of points (not very big let's say 1-20 points) and the second (Y), much larger set of points. I need to choose some point from Y which sum of distances to all points from X is minimal. I came up with an idea that I would treat X as a vertices of a polygon and find centroid of this polygon, and then I will choose a point from Y nearest to the centroid. But I'm not sure whether centroid minimizes sum of its distances to the vertices of polygon, so I'm not sure whether this is a good way? Is there any algorithm for solving this problem? Points are defined by geographical coordinates.

• [Android] Text inserted in the edittext is overwritten

  Hello.. I'm a beginner and am making a calculator (fairly easy), but it's happening the following problem: When Cline in "1" button for example, he enters this number in the EditText, but if you click again the number is overwritten instead of the inserted his side as desired. How do the numbers were placed side by side without overwriting those already there? Note: The layout of buttons and etc. I did in. XML, so I'm not using the keyboard native Android. Thanks!

• Combining two .png images into one image using .NET

  I have two (actually many) .png images in my application. Both have transparent areas here and there. I want, in my application, to take both images, combine them, and display the result in a picture box. Later I want to save the result through a button. So far I managed to find the two images and combine them, but it seems the transparency thing won't work. I mean, if you put one image over another, only the top image is visible as the result because, apparently, the image's background is a plain white box. Which is not. • Happy New Year! Back to school :)

  A brand new year is upon us and it’s time to get cracking with WebMatrix again…and go back to school :).  Last year we ran a successful product walkthrough for WebMatrix Beta 2 with our students from around the world, gathering awesome feedback for the final version of WebMatrix which is coming soon!  I’d like to take this chance to thank all the students who participated in this effort…you have really helped make the final product much better than it would have been otherwise. In 2011, we’re looking, as always, at bigger and better things.  One of the ideas that has been floating around is the concept of a WebMatrix college course that you could take for actual credit.  Of course, this is going to require coordination with college educators, but we think we’re up to the challenge :) If your school is still using an antiquated language to teach their web development 101 course, and you’d like to switch to WebMatrix, we’d like to hear your voice – better yet if you have contacts from your school and would like to be one of the first to give the program a try!  Comment on this post or email wptsdrext at microsoft.com.  We look forward to partnering with you guys ^^.

• DNS Replication on Server 2008 R2

  Hi There, I have been trying out public only facing DNS servers with Server 2008 R2 Web - I've wanted to setup at least 2 in a master/slave replication. Using Microsoft DNS I am able to add in the domains into the primary zone on the master DNS server (ns1) and add the records ok and have them visible publically. On ns2 I can then add in the same domain but as a secondary zone and get them to replicate / zone transfer fine. Is there a way inside of Windows to have the slave(s) automatically synchronise all the changes from the master? For example it's ok if i have manually added the domains onto each of the NS's but if i add a new zone on the master i have to add it on the slave before it replicates. I installed Simple DNS and they have a 'Super Master/Slave' which takes care of exactly this whereby if you add a new domain into the primary zone it is automatically created and kept in sync on NS2 but i would have to buy a licence. All this is non active directory if that helps. Can anyone advise if it is possible to do this using Microsoft DNS? Many Thanks in Advance!

• 9000+ different subdomains 301 to main domain, .htacess apache

  I bought a domain that had various subdomains such as Kim.domain.com/whatever john.domain.com/whatever1 Lizo.domain.com/whatever2 Simon.domain.com/whatever1 And this was in the thousands, and also had links to these pages I'd like to do a 301 redirect for all these urls into http://domain.com Any idea how this could be done? This is for a apache web server and needs to be done via .htaccess I have implemented the solution from reading the answer below. RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www. domain.com$ RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^$ RewriteRule ^/(.*)$ http:/ / www. domain.com/$1 [L,R=301] However I have a slight problem, I would like to redirect all subdomains + subfolders to http://www. domain.com/ With the exception of http: //domain. com/subfolder/, in which case I would like to redirect to http: // www.domain. com/subfolder/ [i.e. exception for no subdomain] I'm guessing I need to add an exception, what can I do to implement this. Note: example URLs above have had spaces added to them to prevent spam blocks for blocking the post.

• Trouble getting SSL to work with django + nginx + wsgi

  I've followed a couple of examples for Django + nginx + wsgi + ssl, but I can't get them to work. I simply get an error in my browser than I can't connect. I'm running two websites off the host. The config files are identical except for the ip addresses, server names, and directories. When neither use SSL, they work fine. When I try to listen on 443 with one of them, I can't connect to either. • What is the typical maximum number of database connections for Oracle running on Windows server ?

  We are maintaining a database server that serve a large number of clients. Each client typically running serveral client-applications. The total number of connections to the database server (Oracle 9i) is reaching 800 connections on peak load. The windows 2003 server is starting to run out of memory. We are now planning to move to 64bit Windows in order to gain higher memory capability. As a developer I suggest moving to multi-tier architecture with conneciton pooling, which I believe is a natural solution to this problem. However, in order to support my idea, I want the information on: what exactly is the typical number of connections allowed for Oracle database ? What is the problem when the number connections is too high ? Too much memory comsumption ? or too many sockets opened ? or too many context switching between threads ? To be a little bit specific, how could Oracle Forms application scale to thousand of users without facing this problem ? Shall Oracle RAC applied to this case ? I'm sure the answer to this question should depend on quite a number of factors, like the exact spec of the hardware being used. I'm expecting a rough estimation or some experience from the real world.

• Primary zone will not transfer to secondary zone

  Using DNS on Windows Server 2008, there is a constant struggle with adding primary and secondary zones. I will add a primary zone to NS1 for a new domain, edit it as needed, and when it's ready add the secondary zone to NS2. However, MOST of the time, the secondary zone remains in an error state, and will never acquire the primary zone data. I have gone back to domains a few weeks after adding them to find out that Windows never propagated the change. Annoying. Anyway, I recently updated SP1 to SP2 thinking this would help, but it hasn't. I added two new domains today, and spent an hour after the secondary zone would just not sync. During that time, the only error in the logs I had seen was for one of them where DNS complained about not being authoritative. In order to eventually resolve the issue, I ended up deleting the primary zone, creating a new primary zone, and hitting "Apply" after each and every field change. For example, after modifying the serial number from "1" to a date appropriate "2010093001", I hit apply, and then the Primary Server (apply), Responsible Person (apply), and finally Name Servers (apply). After I did this, the secondary zone didn't waste any time getting the data. Ideas?

• USB Adapter for Memory Cards

  I am looking for something like a USB adapter for video cards. It is a cable that on one end hooks into a USB port on a computer and on the other accepts any one of a variety of video cards. Essentially it's an "all-in-one" USB adapter for video cards. I'm told that they are sold all over... does anyone know what it is called or where to find them? I should clarify, by the way, that by "video card" I mean a memory card for a video camera, and that the goal is to read this video data onto a computer, from a variety of video card types, through a USB port. That way if you go to your friend's house and bring your computer, you can transfer the video data on his video camera to your computer, trusting that the adapter will have a slot for his kind of video card.

• PC reboots instead of shutting down, no software problem. What could be the cause?

  Hi, first of all: I'm not sure if superuser is the right site for my question and google didn't help. I have a pc here that prefers rebooting to shuting down. Everytime I try to shut the pc down it reboots, however it is possible to turn the pc off by pressing the power button. The problem is not windows-specific, the Ubuntu LiveCD does exactly the same that's why I said that it is no software problem. I checked wake on LAN, it is disabled and I also resetted the BIOS settings to factory default. That might not mean that it can't be a BIOS problem but I don't know what else to try here. I did not check any hardware yet but nothing exploded so far. I don't know what could have caused this behaviour as it is not my PC. The Mainboard is a ASUS P5Q-E P45.

• Netsh commands not working on remote computer

  Hello, At work, we are in the process of migrating over 200 computers from static IPs to DHCP. The DHCP server is configured. My biggest hurdle is physically going to every single computer in the area and configuring them all for DHCP. I am trying to use netsh to accomplish this. However, I cannot even seem to set one computer to DHCP remotely. The command I am trying is: netsh -r COMPUTERNAME interface ip set address name="Local Area Connection" source=dhcp netsh -r COMPUTERNAME interface ip set dns name="Local Area Connection" source=dhcp This results in the error The following command was not found: interface ip set address "name=Local Area Connection" source=dhcp. Any ideas?

• DrayTek 2820 configuration using public IP addresses

  I have a /29 range of public IP addresses assigned to me by my ISP. I'm trying to configure a SIP VOIP handset to register with my VOIP provider who recommend using public IP addresses rather than NAT. I have a DrayTek 2820 router flashed with the latest firmware and have configured my router as per DrayTek's FAQ at: How do I use a public subnet on the LAN (non-NAT operation ) ? My IP range is: xx.xx.94.16 -> xx.xx.94.23 This gives a usable range of: xx.xx.94.17 -> xx.xx.94.22 My router's public IP address is: xx.xx.94.17, the SIP VOIP handset is allocated xx.xx.94.18. I have a second internet connection and via that I can ping the handset. However for some reason I can't seem to get it to register with the provider. I tried adding a new Firewall filter to pass through from WAN to LAN: Source: ANY, Destination: xx.xx.94.18, UDP - Ports 1024 -> 65535 Out of interest I also tried opening port 80 to see if I could browse to the phone's admin web interface but no joy. I know that my ISP aren't blocking inbound service ports because I NAT Port Forwarded port 80 to one of my internal web servers and it rendered a test page I had set up. All the NAT settings are reset to factory defaults, i.e. there are no Port Redirection, DMZ Host, Open Ports or Address Mappings configured. The handset I'm using is a GrandStream GXP-2000. Is there anything else I should be doing?

• How do I install the vi text editor ONLY on my Cygwin installation?

  I have managed to install the Cygwin on my Windows Vista machine. I installed using the default settings. When I try to do vi in the Bash shell, Bash tells me command not found. I believe I need to install the Cygwin editors package which include the vi editor. The nightmare is every time I run the Cygwin setup and select ONLY the editors package and specifically the Vim and select install, Cygwin setup tries to install all other packages, very frustrating!! Is there an easier way of installing just a single package using the Cygwin setup utility?

• How do I get Dreamweaver to deploy syntax highlighting for full script CFC's?

  Is there a way to get Dreamweaver CS4 to use syntax highlighting when writing full script CFCs? If the document type is .cfc and they syntax is fullscript, there is no syntax highlighting; the code will be in black text... For example, the following block of code will appear without syntax highlighting: component extends="whatever" output="false" { public void foo() { } } While the tag equivalent would be highlighted normally: <cfcomponent extends="whatever" output="false"> <cffunction name="foo" returnType="void" access="public"> </cffunction> </cfcomponent>

• SQL SERVER – Beginning SQL Server: One Step at a Time – SQL Server Magazine

  I am glad to announce that along with SQLAuthority.com, I will be blogging on the prominent site of SQL Server Magazine. My very first blog post there is already live; read here: Beginning SQL Server: One Step at a Time. My association with SQL Server Magazine has been quite long, I have written nearly 7 to 8 SQL Server articles for the print magazine and it has been a great experience. I used to stay in the United States at that time. I moved back to India for good, and during this process, I had put everything on hold for a while. Just like many things, “temporary” things become “permanent” – coming back to SQLMag was on hold for long time. Well, this New Year, things have changed – once again, I am back with my online presence at SQLMag.com. Everybody is a beginner at every task or activity at some point of his/her life: spelling words for the first time; learning how to drive for the first time, etc. No one is perfect at the start of any task, but every human is different. As time passes, we all develop our interests and begin to study our subject of interest. Most of us dream to get a job in the area of our study – however things change as time passes. I recently read somewhere online (I could not find the link again while writing this one) that all the successful people in various areas have never studied in the area in which they are successful. After going through a formal learning process of what we love, we refuse to stop learning, and we finally stop changing career and focus areas. We move, we dare and we progress. IT field is similar to our life. New IT professionals come to this field every day. There are two types of beginners – a) those who are associated with IT field but not familiar with other technologies, and b) those who are absolutely new to the IT field. Learning a new technology is always exciting and overwhelming for enthusiasts. I am working with database (in particular) for SQL Server for more than 7 years but I am still overwhelmed with so many things to learn. I continue to learn and I do not think that I should ever stop doing so. Just like everybody, I want to be in the race and get ahead in learning the technology. For the same, I am always looking for good guidance. I always try to find a good article, blog or book chapter, which can teach me what I really want to learn at this stage in my career and can be immensely helpful. Quite often, I prefer to read the material where the author does not judge me or assume my understanding. I like to read new concepts like a child, who takes his/her first steps of learning without any prior knowledge. Keeping my personal philosophy and preference in mind, I will be blogging on SQL Server Magazine site. I will be blogging on the beginners stuff. I will be blogging for them, who really want to start and make a mark in this area. I will be blogging for all those who have an extreme passion for learning. I am happy that this is a good start for this year. One of my resolutions is to help every beginner. It is totally possible that in future they all will grow and find the same article quite ‘easy‘ – well when that happens, it indicates the success of the article and material! Well, I encourage everybody to read my SQL Server Magazine blog – I will be blogging there frequently on various topics. To begin, we will be talking about performance tuning, and I assure that I will not shy away from other multiple areas. • Converting a PV vm back into an HVM vm

  I have been doing some Oracle VM benchmark stuff in the last week or 2 in my off hours and yesterday I wanted to convert one of my VMs that was based on a paravirt kernel into a vm that just boots as a regular hardware virt VM with a standard x86-64 kernel. It took me a little while to figure out the fastest way so now that I have it pretty much down I wanted to share the steps. A PV kernel uses pygrub and a paravirt kernel image that lives on the vm image virtual disk. since this disk image does not have to be bootable it doesn't contain a boot sector and if you just restart the VM in hvm mode the virtual bios will just not do much as it can't start the boot process from disk The first thing I do is make a backup of my vm.cfg file :-) and then edit it as follows : the original file contains : bootloader = '/usr/bin/pygrub' I replace that with : acpi = 1 apic = 1 builder = 'hvm' device_model = '/usr/lib/xen/bin/qemu-dm' kernel = '/usr/lib/xen/boot/hvmloader' then changing the disk files. I change my xvd disks to hd disks and I copy over the iso image of my instal lDVD. In the case of my VM template it was based on OL5U4 So I downloaded Enterprise-R5-U4-Server-x86_64-dvd.iso and added it as a cd device. disk = ['file:/ovs/OVM_EL5U4_X86_64_11202RAC_PVM/System.img,xvda,w', 'file:/ovs/OVM_EL5U4_X86_64_11202RAC_PVM/Oracle11202RAC_x86_64-xvdb.img,xvdb,w', ] to disk = ['file:/ovs/OVM_EL5U4_X86_64_11202RAC_PVM/System.img,hda,w', 'file:/ovs/OVM_EL5U4_X86_64_11202RAC_PVM/Oracle11202RAC_x86_64-xvdb.img,hdb,w', 'file:/ovs/OVM_EL5U4_X86_64_11202RAC_PVM/Enterprise-R5-U4-Server-x86_64-dvd.iso, hdc:cdrom,r', ] boot='d' for the network devices (vifs) I change : vif = ['bridge=xenbr2,type=netfront'] to vif = ['bridge=xenbr2,type=ioemu'] That should do it. Next, inside the VM, I copy over the regular kernel rpm that I want to end up running in hvm mode. In this example case it was : kernel-2.6.18-164.0.0.0.1.el5.x8664.rpm. I will use that later on in the process. I put this kernel simply in /root At this point I just start the vm with xm create vm.cfg and start my vnc console to the vm console. Oracle Linux will boot from the iso image, I just go through the install steps and click on UPgrade existing (not re-install). Because the VM is the same as the ISO the install won't actually do anything and it will run through instantly. When the "Reboot" button pops up, don't reboot. Switch to the command prompt console. hi alt-f2 to go to the shell prompt. Now it's easy : umount /mnt/sysimage/boot cd /mnt/sysimage chroot . mount /dev/hda1 (if that was your /boot partition) export PATH=/sbin:$PATH (just to clean that up) edit /etc/modprobe.conf and comment out the xen modules (just put a # in front) Install grub. if your /boot is hda1 then that is (hd0,0) $ grub root (hd0,0) setup (hd0) exit grub now you have a good bootsector, grub installed and you have your grub.conf file Install the new kernel cd root (this is your old /root in your pv image) rpm -ivh remove (or comment out) boot='d' in your vm.cfg restart the VM and you should be good to go, regular grub should start and load your environment. Caveats : this assumes you used labels for your filesystems. if /etc/fstab were to have devices listed then you would have to rename these device before rebooting as well. If you had a /dev/xvda disk then this would be /dev/hda or /dev/sda. All in all it is a relatively short and simple process.

In the case of my VM template it was based on OL5U4 So I downloaded Enterprise-R5-U4-Server-x86_64-dvd.iso and added it as a cd device. disk = ['file:/ovs/OVM_EL5U4_X86_64_11202RAC_PVM/System.img,xvda,w', 'file:/ovs/OVM_EL5U4_X86_64_11202RAC_PVM/Oracle11202RAC_x86_64-xvdb.img,xvdb,w', ] to disk = ['file:/ovs/OVM_EL5U4_X86_64_11202RAC_PVM/System.img,hda,w', 'file:/ovs/OVM_EL5U4_X86_64_11202RAC_PVM/Oracle11202RAC_x86_64-xvdb.img,hdb,w', 'file:/ovs/OVM_EL5U4_X86_64_11202RAC_PVM/Enterprise-R5-U4-Server-x86_64-dvd.iso, hdc:cdrom,r', ] boot='d' for the network devices (vifs) I change : vif = ['bridge=xenbr2,type=netfront'] to vif = ['bridge=xenbr2,type=ioemu'] That should do it. Next, inside the VM, I copy over the regular kernel rpm that I want to end up running in hvm mode. In this example case it was : kernel-2.6.18-164.0.0.0.1.el5.x8664.rpm. I will use that later on in the process. I put this kernel simply in /root At this point I just start the vm with xm create vm.cfg and start my vnc console to the vm console. Oracle Linux will boot from the iso image, I just go through the install steps and click on UPgrade existing (not re-install). Because the VM is the same as the ISO the install won't actually do anything and it will run through instantly. When the "Reboot" button pops up, don't reboot. Switch to the command prompt console. hi alt-f2 to go to the shell prompt. Now it's easy : umount /mnt/sysimage/boot cd /mnt/sysimage chroot . mount /dev/hda1 (if that was your /boot partition) export PATH=/sbin:$PATH (just to clean that up) edit /etc/modprobe.conf and comment out the xen modules (just put a # in front) Install grub. if your /boot is hda1 then that is (hd0,0) $ grub root (hd0,0) setup (hd0) exit grub now you have a good bootsector, grub installed and you have your grub.conf file Install the new kernel cd root (this is your old /root in your pv image) rpm -ivh remove (or comment out) boot='d' in your vm.cfg restart the VM and you should be good to go, regular grub should start and load your environment. Caveats : this assumes you used labels for your filesystems. if /etc/fstab were to have devices listed then you would have to rename these device before rebooting as well. If you had a /dev/xvda disk then this would be /dev/hda or /dev/sda. All in all it is a relatively short and simple process.

  I am interested in finding out about other job scheduling packages besides Quartz and Flux. Given the plethora of web frameworks i find it perculiar that there is really only one scheduler. Are there others that perhaps are very much unknown/unpopular ? Is there a place for them both in a solution? Spring Batch and Quartz have different goals. Spring Batch provides functionality for processing large volumes of data and Quartz provides functionality for scheduling tasks. So Quartz could complement Spring Batch, but are not excluding technologies. A common combination would be to use Quartz as a trigger for a Spring Batch job using a Cron expression and the Spring Core convenience SchedulerFactoryBean .

Hi, In the project we need to develope a mail system. This must do common work with the webservice. We create a Bean who recieves an auto-generated class from non-root xsd element (not wsdl); this bean do this common work. The mail system recieves a xml with elements defined in xsd file and we need to drop this elements info to wsdlc generated classes. With this objects we can use this common bean. Is not possible to redirect the mail request to the webservice. We've looking for the code to do this with WL9.2 resources but we don't found anything. At the moment we've tried to use JAXB for this unmarshalling: JAXBContext c = JAXBContext.newInstance(new Class[]{WasteDCSType.class}); Unmarshaller u = c.createUnmarshaller(); WasteDCSType w = u.unmarshal(waste, WasteDCSType.class).getValue(); waste variable is an DOM Element object. It isn't the root element 'cause the root isn't included in XSD First we needed to add no-arg constructor in some autogenerated classes. No problem, we solved this and finally we unmarshalled the xml without error Exceptions. But we had problems with the attributes. The unmarshalling didn't set attributes; none of them in any class, not simple attributes, not large or short enumeration attributes. No problem with xml elements of any type. We can't create the unmarshaller from "context string" (the package name) 'cause not ObjectFactory has been create by wsldc. If we set the schema no element descriptions are founded and unmarshall crashes. After updating, I want to go directly back to the list view, bypassing a couple of intermediate pages - but I don't simply want to link_to(:action => list) - there's pagination involved. I want to go back to the exact 'list' page I came from. What's the best way? Pass a hidden arg somewhere with the page number? Is there an elegant way to accomplish this?

  hai, is it possible to loading of tabs in jtabedpane dyanamically in java.. that means i have frame that consinting of one tabbedpane.. in that i have 10 tabs and in each tab consting of another tabbedpane and in that each tabbedpane has 4 tabs and each tab consisting buttons and textfields...... when i login into my project the next frame takes more time to visible.... this is happens why because i have more tabbedpanes in my frame so that it takes the lot's of time to visible.. my question is.. is it possible to load tabs content dynamically when i click the tab in tabbedpane..... or is it possible to load tabbedpanes fastly......????????
