  • Whats the best way to launch and promote a mobile application

    I´m looking forward to launch a mobile application for Android, iPhone and maybe other platforms like Blackberry, Symbian, ... too in the future. What do you think is the best way to promote this application? Is setting up a website; provide a screencast with the features; running ads on ad networks enough or are there other ways too ?   • virtualenv on Windows: not over-riding installed package

    My current setup is Python 2.5/ Django 1.1.1 on Windows. I want to start using Django 1.2 on some projects, but can't use it for everything. Which is just the sort of thing I've got virtualenv for. However, I'm running into a problem I've never encountered and it's hard to Google for: installing Django 1.2 into a virtualenv has no effect for me. If I then activate the environment and do python import django django.VERSION I get "1.1.1 Final". Django is installed in the site-packages directory of my environment and the init file in the root shows that it is 1.2. But the environment falls back to 1.1.1, even if I create the environment with the --no-site-packages flag. What am I screwing up?

  • Strange - Clicking Update button doesn’t cause a postback due to <!-- tag

  • Help with HQL Query (find duplicates)

    I am trying to convert this native sql into an HQL query. Basically it returns all the contacts that are duplicates (by company, firstname, and lastname). The query below works great, but performing a joined subselect seems impossible in HQL is it not?!   • INSERT 0..n records into table 'A' based on content of table 'B' in MySql 5

    Using MySql 5, I have a task where I need to update one table based on the contents of another table. For example, I need to add 'A1' to table 'A' if table 'B' contains 'B1'. I need to add 'A2a' and 'A2b' to table 'A' if table 'B' contains 'B2', etc.. In our case, the value in table 'B' we're interested is an enum. Right now I have a stored procedure containing a series of statements like: INSERT INTO A SELECT 'A1' FROM B WHERE B.Value = 'B1'; --Repeat for 'B2' -> 'A2a'; 'B2' -> 'A2b'; 'B3' -> 'A3', etc... Is there a nicer more DRY way of accomplishing this? Edit: There may be values in table 'B' that have no equivalent value for table 'A'.

    I am involved on a project to talk to communities about the risks of posting online content is social networks. But this time I was really impressed how far security concerns can go. This video from CBS news talks about security risks related to corporate fax/printers and scanners. It was very clear that when they got the machines they selected the machines by previous owner and they were not random machines, but still, I will never scan from my company machine again.     I have a multidimensional array in python like: arr = [['foo', 1], ['bar',2]] Now, if I want to print out everything in the array, I could do: print(arr[:][:]) Or I could also just do print(arr). However, If I only wanted to print out the first element of each box (for arr, that would be 'foo', 'bar'), I would imagine I would do something like: print(arr[:][0]) however, that just prints out the first data blog (['foo', 1]), also, I tried reversing it (just in case): print(arr[0][:]) and I got the same thing. So, is there anyway that I can get it to print the first element in each tuple (other than: for tuple in arr: print(tuple[0]) )? Thanks.

  • Weird background offset of UIToolbar when in formSheet.

    As you can see in the pic, the buttons from the toolbar on the right align perfectly with the segmented control on the left. They are displayed on the navigation bar. For some reason though, the background of the toolbar seems to be offset 1px to the bottom. What is especially weird, is this exact same view controller, in fullScreen or even pageSheet, displays everything properly. Segmented control is being allocated: UISegmentedControl* segmentControl = [[UISegmentedControl alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0,0,300,30)]; Toolbar is being allocated: UIToolbar* toolbar = [[UIToolbar alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, 100,44)]; I've spent hours trying to fix this, it's driving me crazy.

    Does anyone know of a good way to encrypt and decrypt strings using VB6 to ensure sensitive data is secure? Also, is there an encryption method that can be shared between VB6 and .NET? Example: The encrypted string will be written to a database using a VB6 application, but the value also need to be read an decrypted in a c# .net application using the .net framework if possible.   • Restoring Sharepoint content database

    Hi, My WSS_Content database had got corrupt. And my pc was infected by virus. I had no backup of my WSS_Content database. So, I copied the corrupt database to a separete disk, formatted and reinstalled Sharepoint, with SQL Server 2005 as before (I'm using sharepoint 2007 ). I used Sytools Sharepoint Recovery tool, that i found on the net, which helped me restore my corrupt WSS_Content database. Now i want to set this content database as my "The content database" for my newly installed sharepoint. I tried the steps that i found in the link :- http://www.stationcomputing.com/scblogspace/Lists/Posts/Post.aspx?ID=40 I get stuck at step 3. Can anybody help me. I am really in a big mess.     I'm an old school tables guy, and am pretty baffled when it comes to modern HTML. I'm trying to something as simple as vertical / horizontal layouts (i.e. Flex's hbox/vbox), but am having major difficulty replicating them. When using display:inline, I cannot set a percentage width -- it only takes explicit widths. When using float:left, settings 100% percentage width causes it to really be 100% and pushes the next div down. The urls are dynamic and contain 2-3 values for each result (www.example.com or example.org).
