• Darwin kernel architecture and OS X, 64bit on 32bit kernel, how does this work?

  The OS X Lion (10.7) OS runs on mostly 64-bit binaries as reported by Activity Monitor. Given this, and the fact that my laptop runs a 32-bit version of the EFI and thus also a 32-bit kernel, how does the arch mixing work in general? Darwin Kernel Version 11.3.0: Thu Jan 12 18:48:32 PST 2012; root:xnu-1699.24.23~1/RELEASE_I386 Normally one would run 32b binaries on x86_64, but the other way around would require pushing the cpu into 64b mode, which AFAIK cannot be undone. Hope this question is clear enough..

• Vim plugin Align fails to work. Can it be installed without vimball?

  I've happily installed the vim Align plugin on my home computer, but on the Red Hat servers at work, the installation doesn't work. The servers at work have a very old copy (2006) of vimball, which from Googling I know doesn't support more recent vimballs, including Align. I can't get the systems group (IT department) to upgrade vimball, so I thought perhaps I could simply copy the various files into ~/.vim/plugin by hand. I copied the 3 files from my home system AlignMapsPlugin.vim AlignPlugin.vim cecutil.vim, but when I attempt to use Align from within vim I get the following error message E117: Unknown function: Align#Align I know that it's seeing the plugin, because when I remove the plugin the error message is different (it says "Not an editor command Align"). Is there a workaround for this? I love "Align" and would sure like to use it at work as well as at home.

• ListBox content does not resize when window is made smaller

  I've implemented horizontal page view with many images. Is it because of horizontal page views? • MySql php: check if Row exists

  This is probably an easy thing to do but I'm an amateur and things just aren't working for me. I just want to check and see if a row exists where the $lectureName shows. If a row does exist with the $lectureName somewhere in it, I want the function to return "assigned" if not then it should return "available". Here's what I have. I'm fairly sure its a mess.   I am curious whether it is possible to determine the maximum size that an array can have in C++. #include <iostream> using namespace std; #define MAX 2000000 int main() { long array[MAX]; cout << "Message" << endl; return 0; } This compiles just fine, but then segfaults as soon as I run it (even though array isn't actually referenced). I know it's the array size too because if I change it to 1000000 it runs just fine. So, is there some define somewhere or some way of having #define MAX MAX_ALLOWED_ARRAY_SIZE_FOR_MY_MACHINE_DEFINED_SOMEWHERE_FOR_ME? I don't actually need this for anything, this question is for curiosity's sake.

  I'm new at using the glpk tool, and after writing a model for certain integer problem and running the solver (glpsol) i get negative values in some constraint that shouldn't be negative at all: No.Row name Activity Lower bound Upper bound 8 act[1] 0 -0 9 act[2] -3 -0 10 act[2] -2 -0 That constraint is defined like this: act{j in J}: sum{i in I} d[i,j] <= y[j]*m; where the sets and variables used are like this: param m, integer, 0; param n, integer, 0; set I := 1..m; set J := 1..n; var y{j in J}, binary; As the upper bound is negative, i think the problem may be in the y[j]*m parte, of the right side of the inequality.. perhaps something with the multiplication of binarys? or that the j in that side of the constrait is undefined? i dont know... i would be greatly grateful if someone can help me with this! :) and excuse for my bad english thanks in advance!

  Im doing a project where Alice and Bob send each other messages using the Diffie-Hellman key-exchange. What is throwing me for a loop is how to incorporate the certificate they are using in this so i can obtain their secret messages. From what I understand about MIM attakcs, the MIM acts as an imposter as seen on this diagram: Below are the details for my project. I understand that they both have g and p agreed upon before communicating, but how would I be able to implement this with they both having a certificate to verify their signatures? Alice prepares ?signA(NA, Bob), pkA, certA? where signA is the digital signature algorithm used by Alice, “Bob” is Bob’s name, pkA is the public-key of Alice which equals gx mod p encoded according to X.509 for a fixed g, p as specified in the Diffie-Hellman key- exchange and certA is the certificate of Alice that contains Alice’s public-key that verifies the signature; Finally, NA is a nonce (random string) that is 8 bytes long. Bob checks Alice's signature, and response with ?signB{NA,NB,Alice},pkB,certB?. Alice gets the message she checks her nonce NA and calculates the joint key based on pkA, pkB according to the Diffie-Hellman key exchange. Then Alice submits the message ?signA{NA,NB,Bob},EK(MA),certA? to Bob and Bobrespondswith?SignB{NA,NB,Alice},EK(MB),certB?. where MA and MB are their corresponding secret messages.

• Not able to override CSS within IFrame

  I am using disqus comments for my jekyll blog with some CSS styles overriden in my stylesheet and used to work perfectly. Recently, disqus has introduced a new UI for their comments system which has completely broken the font colors. Since my site has dark background, I am trying to apply styles based on new disqus HTML structure generated. However, it seems that none of my styles get applied. It seems that is because disqus is loaded within iframe. Any ideas how can I fix the font colors.   In C, it is considered bad practice to call strlen like this: for ( i = 0; strlen ( str ) != foo; i++ ) { // stuff } The reason, of course, is that it is inefficient since it "counts" the characters in a string multiple times. However, in Python, I see code like this quite often: for i in range ( 0, len ( list ) ): # stuff Is this bad practice? Should I store the result of len() in a variable and use that?

On click "Call Batch", the "child page" is loaded in div of "parent page" using javascript without refresh! Now this "Child Page" contains a label and a button. On click of button the text of label shoud change. I want the functionality of "child page" on "parent page". I got the "child page" in "parent page" div but the functionality of "child page" is lost and i am getting error.Where to put the code of button click event which changes the text of label? • c permutation of a number

  I am writing a program for magic box. As the only way around it is brute force, I wrote a program to compute permutations of a given array using bells algorithm. I wrote in the lines similar to http://programminggeeks.com/c-code-for-permutation/. It does work for array of 3 and 4. It does not work for an arryay of 8 numbers (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8). I see that the combination 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 gets repeated couple of times. Also there are other combinations that gets repeated. I see that certain combinations don't get displayed even. So could someone tell me what is wrong in the program below. • Custom action getting published multiple times on user's timeline for same object

  I just noticed that when I publish an action on the user's timeline for the same object multiple times, using facebook's 'built-in' action type (eg: 'read' an article), i get an error response, something like "action is already associated to the user on this object". But when i try to do the same for a custom action that i created(eg: 'agreed' with an article), I don't get any error message, instead the actions gets published multiple times. I want my custom action to behave just like facebook's default action-type.

  I need to write a VB.NET code to reverse the given characters using a stack. Input: 'S','T','A','C','K' So far I have input the letters, but I don't know how to get the console to reverse it. I'm a beginner to programming so please excuse my ignorance. An explanation as to how it's done would also be greatly appreciated. What I got so far. • Add "secure" in cookie by httpd server

  How do I have to configure my httpd server to add "Secure" in the cookies? I tried the one in the below link, http://blog.modsecurity.org/2008/12/fixing-both-missing-httponly-and-secure-cookie-flags.html but this did not seem to be working. I inspected the cookie via firebug and found that the cookies have "HttpOnly" but not "Secure". I double checked the configurations and they the same as mentioned in the link. I also noticed that the server response time goes bit high when doing it by mod_security. Is there a better way to do it? Any ideas or pointers to configurations would be helpful

• Links not using FQDN on Sharepoint Mysite from an external access

  I've configured external access to some sharepoint applications, including MySites, using AAM and ISA configuration. Every seems working well, but when using the external access (ie via https), some links are not working because they use the internal name (http://mysite) instead of the FQDN via https (https://mysite.mydomain.fr*) Any hint or suggestion are welcome. *yes, i'm french. =) EDIT : examples of links that are not working : - when clicking on a folder in a library - when clicking on "My links" then "My sharepoint sites" and then clicking on one of the links displayed

• Network driver for Hyper-V restore from Windows Home Server

  I have backed up Windows Server 2008 running virtualized on Hyper-V to a Windows Home Server 2008 SP1 (I know I should have backed up the VHD instead). Now I need to restore the contents of the VM from WHS. I have created a restore CD ISO and used it to create a new VM. It all works as advertised up to the point where the restore process wants to load the network drivers (it only finds 4 disk drivers on the restore CD. but no network drivers). So I created a virtual floppy and copied the contents of 'Home Server Drivers for Restore onto it. But no luck! I have tried moving the 4 subdirectories into the root of the floppy, but that didn't work either. Finally, I started another instance of the WS 2008 to identify the network driver that the virtualized instance is using (%WINDOWS%\system32\drivers\netvsc60.sys) and copied that file onto the virtual floppy, without success. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get networking working on a Hyper-V instance running off the Windows Home Server Restore CD? UPDATE: As suggested by delenda, I have added a legacy network adapter to my VM, and indeed I now get a network driver listed! However, the WHS it still not found, even after entering the home server name manually. PHS

• Apache mod_header rule to change all cookies to secure

  I would like to change all cookies to be secure and http-only. It works fine for one cookie, but doesn't work when multiple cookies are set in response. Apache mod_header rule should change cookies from: Set-Cookie cookie1=value; Path=/somePath Set-Cookie cookie2=value; Path=/somePath to Set-Cookie cookie1=value; Path=/somePath; Secure; Http-Only Set-Cookie cookie2=value; Path=/somePath; Secure; Http-Only I use mod_headers for it with following rule: Header edit Set-Cookie ^(.*)$ $1;Secure;HttpOnly It works fine when only one cookie is set, but if there is more than one, it just removes all the following and they are not set at all. Any help how to write mod_headers rule for multiple values? or the problem is in something else?

• Postgres pgpass windows - not working

  DB: Postgres 9.0 Client: Windows 7 Server Windows 2008, 64bit I'm trying to connect remotely to a postgres instance for purposes of performing a pg_dump to my local machine. Everything works from my client machine, except that I need to provide a password at the password prompt, and I'd ultimately like to batch this with a script. I've followed the instructions here: http://www.postgresql.org/docs/current/static/libpq-pgpass.html but it's not working. To recap, I've created a file on the client (and tried the server as well): C:/Users/postgres/AppData/postgresql/pgpass.conf, where postgresql is the db user. The file has one line with the following data: *:5432:*postgres:[mypassword] (also tried explicit ip/dbname values, all asterisks, and every combination in between. (I've also tried replacing each '*' with [localhost|myip] and [mydatabasename] respectively. From my client machine, I connect using: pg_dump -h [myip] -U postgres -w [mydbname] [mylocaldumpfile] I'm presuming that I need to provide the '-w' switch in order to ignore password prompt, at which point it should look in the AppData directory on the server. It just comes back with "connection to database failed: fe_sendauth: no password supplied. Any insights are appreciated. As a hack workaround, if there was a way I could tell the windows batch file on my client machine to inject the password at the postgres prompt, that would work as well. Thanks.

For this reason, the filesystem calls used by PHP will use the legacy "ANSI" API and so the C/C++ libraries linked with this version of PHP will first try to convert yout UTF-8-encoded PHP string into the local "ANSI" codepage selected in the running environment (see the CHCP command before starting PHP from a command line window) Your version of Windows is MOST PROBABLY NOT responsible of this weird thing. Actually, this is YOUR version of PHP which is not compiled correctly, and that uses the legacy ANSI version of the Win32 API (for compatibility with the legacy 16-bit versions of Windows 95/98 whose filesystem support in the kernel actually had no direct support for Unicode, but used an internal conversion layer to convert Unicode to the local ANSI codepage before using the actual ANSI version of the API). I can't confirm whether this is my problem or not. I used phpinfo() and did not find anything interesting, but I wasn't sure what to look for.
