  • Can I see the SMTP session log when Mail.app connects to an SMPT server?

    Problem: I've set up a mail server using SASL authentication, and have given Mail.app (on Mac Os 10.4) the login information it needs to connect. I wrote a test message for it to deliver to my server: the Activity window shows that it tries to deliver the message, but then it simply stops, with no indication of error, except that the test message is left in the Outbox. How can I find out what went wrong? Is there some log file I don't know about?

  • C# 2008 Express v C# 2010 Express

    Can anybody post a link to a comparison chart, or even to a duplicated question here on SO, for these two products? Plenty of info on what is missing between Express and Pro for example, but I'm struggling to find much on Express v Express. Is the only real difference the ability to develop apps for .NET 4.0? I'm developing WinForms apps, targetting .NET 2.0 at the moment, so are there any benefits for me in changing to 2010 Express? Unfortunately, upgrading to VS Professional or such is not an option for me right now, so I'm stuck with the hamstrung versions. Thanks.

I've been messing around with VS2010 beta 2 (ultimate) on windows7 and already I have a nasty problem - when I try to run devenv it's only shows me very-nice-beta2 splash screen and cpu usage of devenv process run to sky. If thats can help - on machine i have already vs2008 installed.

  • Git: Remove specific commit

    I was working with a friend on a project, and he edited a bunch of files that shouldn't have been edited. Somehow I merged his work into mine, either when I pulled it, or when I tried to just pick the specific files out that I wanted. I've been looking and playing for a long time, trying to figure out how to remove the commits that contain the edits to those files, it seems to be a toss up between revert and rebase, and there are no straightforward examples, and the docs assume I know more than I do. So here is a simplified version of the question: Given the following scenario, how do I remove commit 2? $ mkdir git_revert_test && cd git_revert_test $ git init Initialized empty Git repository in /Users/josh/deleteme/git_revert_test/.git/ $ echo "line 1" > myfile $ git add -A $ git commit -m "commit 1" [master (root-commit) 8230fa3] commit 1 1 files changed, 1 insertions(+), 0 deletions(-) create mode 100644 myfile $ echo "line 2" >> myfile $ git commit -am "commit 2" [master 342f9bb] commit 2 1 files changed, 1 insertions(+), 0 deletions(-) $ echo "line 3" >> myfile $ git commit -am "commit 3" [master 1bcb872] commit 3 1 files changed, 1 insertions(+), 0 deletions(-) The expected result is $ cat myfile line 1 line 3 Here is an example of how I have been trying to revert $ git revert 342f9bb Automatic revert failed.   • finding ALL cycles in a huge sparse matrix

    Hi there, First of all I'm quite a Java beginner, so I'm not sure if this is even possible! Basically I have a huge (3+million) data source of relational data (i.e. A is friends with B+C+D, B is friends with D+G+Z (but not A - i.e. unmutual) etc.) and I want to find every cycle within this (not necessarily connected) directed graph. I've found this thread (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/546655/finding-all-cycles-in-graph/549402#549402) which has pointed me to Donald Johnson's (elementary) cycle-finding algorithm which, superficially at least, looks like it'll do what I'm after (I'm going to try when I'm back at work on Tuesday - thought it wouldn't hurt to ask in the meanwhile!). I had a quick scan through the code of the Java implementation of Johnson's algorithm (in that thread) and it looks like a matrix of relations is the first step, so I guess my questions are: a) Is Java capable of handling a 3+million*3+million matrix? (was planning on representing A-friends-with-B by a binary sparse matrix) b) Do I need to find every connected subgraph as my first problem, or will cycle-finding algorithms handle disjoint data? c) Is this actually an appropriate solution for the problem? My understanding of "elementary" cycles is that in the graph below, rather than picking out A-B-C-D-E-F it'll pick out A-B-F, B-C-D etc. but that's not the end of the world given the task. E / \ D---F / \ / \ C---B---A d) If necessary, I can simplify the problem by enforcing mutuality in relations - i.e. A-friends-with-B <== B-friends-with-A, and if really necessary I can maybe cut down the data size, but realistically it is always going to be around the 1mil mark. z) Is this a P or NP task?! Each section has a menu in it to jump to another section, however i want to have a class added to menu for the current section: i.e. if you are in about the about link would have a class 'current'.   • Exception if there is IBOutlet in view controller created by initWithNibName

    When I create a Navigation-based application, the second view controller is created with initWithNibName, if I add a label onto the second view and connect it with IBOutlet in the second view controller. After I navigate to the second view by clicking table cell, and then back to the root view, the application aborts - send message retainCount to a freed object. I know this is caused by the IBOutlet label, which is retained, set nil in viewDidUnload and dealloc in dealloc. But I don't know why, and if I wanna still use IBOutlet, what can I do? Not dealloc it in viewcontroller's dealloc? Anybody could help? Thank you.

  • Android canceling all alarm set

    Hi all. I am making an event application and user can set a reminder for events he wants. So i use the alarmManager to create alarms. I would like to put a cancel all option to my main activity so that i could cancel all the alarms created by my application. The usual method for canceling the alarm with the same intent doesnt really help cause i set tha alarms on a different activity than the one I want to cancel them in. So is there a way to cancel all the alarms created by my application? Thanks!

I have changed the icon that shows when the program is run, but I want to change the icon in the environment (e.g. Windows XP), that is for the file itself. I googled, but the best I could find is converting the .JAR to a .EXE, which is not the best choice.

  • Custom ArrayList serialization

    Hi, i was trying to serialize an ArrayList which contacins custom objects. I`am serializing it in a servlet(server side), and deserialize at the client side. (using ObjectOutputStream,ObjectInputStream) it worked fine, when I work with ArrayList< String but when i tried it with ArrayList< MyObject i couldnt get any results in the client side, this is the exception: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: web.MyObject *ofcourse that i have done this: MyObject implements Serializable ...   • Php security question

    I have a linux server, and I am about to upload a classifieds website to it. The website is php based. That means php code adds/removes classifieds, with the help of the users offcourse. The php-code then adds/removes a classified to a database index called Solr (like MySql). Problem is that anybody can currently access the database, but I only want the website to access the database (solr). Solr is on port 8983 as standard btw. My Q is, if I add a rule in my firewall (iptables), to only allow connections coming from the servers IP to the Solr port nr, would this solve my issue? Thanks
