    I have to show 25% right screen in such way that the text looks appeared from right. For this I need to set opacity from 0 to 100 at 25% right side screen means rightmost opacity would be 0 and at 75% the opacity would be 100. For this, I took a Div and set opacity but It looks bad because of border. I need to gray out text. It looks a block. Let me know how I can implement cross browser compatible gradient opacity mask for right screen text. What is the best way to do this?

    I installed Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2 in an XP Mode VM on Windows 7. Then I created a trivial Silverlight 4 (beta) project and tried to build it.   • Netbeans can't find running Tomcat

    Hi! I'm running Tomcat inside of Netbeans. I added Tomcat server(not bundled with Netbeans) to Servers in Netbeans. But, when i'm trying to run Tomcat, it starts(i can visit Tomcat home page), but Netbeans can't find it running. Where is the problem? No stacktrace in Tomcat. When i'm deploying my project`s war in this Tomcat manually, everything works, but i need to deploy it automatically from Netbeans. Configuration: Netbeans 6.8 + Tomcat 6.0.26 + JSF and Hibernate project.

    Hello guys and gals... I have a LI with some information, including some links. I would like jQuery to make the LI clickable, but also remain the links in the LI. The Clickable part works. I just need the links within to work as well. NOTE: They work if you right click and choose "Open in new tab".   • Anonymous Methods / Lambda's (Coding Standards)

    In Jeffrey Richter's "CLR via C#" (the .net 2.0 edtion page, 353) he says that as a self-discipline, he never makes anonymous functions longer than 3 lines of code in length. He cites mostly readability / understandability as his reasons. This suites me fine, because I already had a self-discipline of using no more than 5 lines for an anonymous method. But how does that "coding standard" advice stack against lambda's? At face value, I'd treat them the same - keeping a lambda equally as short. But how do others feel about this? In particular, when lambda's are being used where (arguably) they shine brightest - when used in LINQ statements - is there genuine cause to abandon that self-discipline / coding standard?

We have a Text "My very long label goes here" and we have to show it in following format: [...g label goes here] i.e right aligned and text should be trimmed from left (character ellipsis at left side) We have used FlowDirection of TextBlock, ellipsis is correctly shown on the left side, but text is trimmed from the right side.   • How to update GUI thread/class from worker thread/class?

    First question here so hello everyone. The requirement I'm working on is a small test application that communicates with an external device over a serial port. The communication can take a long time, and the device can return all sorts of errors. The device is nicely abstracted in its own class that the GUI thread starts to run in its own thread and has the usual open/close/read data/write data basic functions. The GUI is also pretty simple - choose COM port, open, close, show data read or errors from device, allow modification and write back etc. The question is simply how to update the GUI from the device class? There are several distinct types of data the device deals with so I need a relatively generic bridge between the GUI form/thread class and the working device class/thread. In the GUI to device direction everything works fine with [Begin]Invoke calls for open/close/read/write etc. on various GUI generated events. I've read the thread here (How to update GUI from another thread in C#?) where the assumption is made that the GUI and worker thread are in the same class. Google searches throw up how to create a delegate or how to create the classic background worker but that's not at all what I need, although they may be part of the solution. So, is there a simple but generic structure that can be used? My level of C# is moderate and I've been programming all my working life, given a clue I'll figure it out (and post back)...   • added TextToSpeech to my activity and now my onDestroy is not called any more, bug?

    I added TextToSpeech to my app, following the guidelines in the following post: http://android-developers.blogspot.com/2009/09/introduction-to-text-to-speech-in.html and now my onDestroy is no longer called when the back button is pressed. I filed a bug report regarding this: http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=7674 Figured i should also ask here if someone else has seen this, and found a solution? It seems that it is the intent that causes the problem, i.e. the following: Intent checkIntent = new Intent(); checkIntent.setAction(TextToSpeech.Engine.ACTION_CHECK_TTS_DATA); startActivityForResult(checkIntent, MY_DATA_CHECK_CODE); If I skip this intent, and just go ahead and create a tts-instance, it works fine. Any clues to what is wrong with this intent?

  • Compiling linux kernel, how much size is needed?

    Hello, I am have downloaded the newest most stable linux kernel 2.6.33.2 I thought I would test this using virtualbox. So I create a dynamically sized harddisk of 4gb. And installed CentOS 5.3 with just the minimum packages. I setup the make menuconfig with just the default settings. After that I ran make and got the following error: net/bluetooth/hci_sysfs.o: final close failed: No space left on device make[2]: *** [net/bluetooth/hci_sysfs.o] Error 1 make[1]: *** [net/bluetooth] Error 2 make: *** [net] Error 2 The amount of space I have left is: # df -h Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on /dev/mapper/VolGroup00-LogVol00 3.3G 3.3G 0 100% / /dev/hda1 99M 12M 82M 13% /boot tmpfs 125M 0 125M 0% /dev/shm My virtual size is 4gb, but the actual size is 3.5gb $ ls -hl total 7.5G -rw-------. 1 root root 3.5G 2010-04-13 14:08 LFS.vdi How much size should I give when compiling and installing a linux kernel?
