  • Automatically add links to class source files under a specified directory of another project in Visu

    - by Binary255
I want to share some class source files between two projects in Visual Studio 2008. I can't create a project for the common parts and reference it (see my comment if you are curious to why). I've managed to share some source files, but it could be a lot more neat. I've created a test solution called Commonality. The Solution Explorer of the Commonality solution which contains project One and Two: What I like: All class files under the Common folder of project One are automatically added to project Two by linking. It's mostly the same as if I would have chosen Add / Existing Item... : Add As Link on each new class source file. It's clear that these files have been linked in. The shortcut arrow symbol is marking each file icon. What I do not like: The file and folder tree structure under Common of project One isn't included. It's all flat. The linked source files are shown under the project root of project Two. It would look much less cluttered if they were located under Common like in project One. The file tree structure of the Commonality solution which contains project One and Two: $ tree /F /A Folder PATH listing for volume Cystem Volume serial number is 0713370 1337:F6A4 C:. | Commonality.sln | +---One | | One.cs | | One.csproj | | | +---bin | | \---Debug | | One.vshost.exe | | One.vshost.exe.manifest | | | +---Common | | | Common.cs | | | CommonTwo.cs | | | | | \---SubCommon | | CommonThree.cs | | | +---obj | | \---Debug | | +---Refactor | | \---TempPE | \---Properties | AssemblyInfo.cs | \---Two | Two.cs | Two.csproj | Two.csproj.user | Two.csproj~ | +---bin | \---Debug +---obj | \---Debug | +---Refactor | \---TempPE \---Properties AssemblyInfo.cs And the relevant part of project Two's project file Two.csproj: <ItemGroup> <Compile Include="..\One\Common\**\*.cs"> </Compile> <Compile Include="Two.cs" /> <Compile Include="Properties\AssemblyInfo.cs" /> </ItemGroup> How do I address what I do not like, while keeping what I like?

  • Multiple repositories or single repository with branches?

    - by Goro
I have been working on a project for some time, and it has branched off into several different versions. All versions have some common code base, and each version has specific functionality that is unique, and each version will need to be supported individually. What SVN structure would you recommend? Right now I am using a separate repository for each project, but the downside of that is that it is impractical for large number of products. The downside of using a single repository with branches is that it would add revision numbers to every branch whether anything was committed, regardless from which branch. What setup do you/would you use in this situation?

  • Creating Python C module from Fortran sources on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS

    - by Botondus
In a project I work on we use a Python C module compiled from Fortran with f2py. I've had no issues building it on Windows 7 32bit (using mingw32) and on the servers it's built on 32bit Linux. But I've recently installed Ubuntu 10.04 LTS 64bit on my laptop that I use for development, and when I build it I get a lot of warnings (even though I've apparently installed all gcc/fortran libraries/compilers), but it does finish the build. However when I try to use the built module in the application, most of it seems to run well but then it crashes with an error: * glibc detected /home/botondus/Envs/gasit/bin/python: free(): invalid next size (fast): 0x0000000006a44760 ** Warnings on running *f2py -c -m module_name ./fortran/source.f90* customize UnixCCompiler customize UnixCCompiler using build_ext customize GnuFCompiler Could not locate executable g77 Found executable /usr/bin/f77 gnu: no Fortran 90 compiler found gnu: no Fortran 90 compiler found customize IntelFCompiler Could not locate executable ifort Could not locate executable ifc customize LaheyFCompiler Could not locate executable lf95 customize PGroupFCompiler Could not locate executable pgf90 Could not locate executable pgf77 customize AbsoftFCompiler Could not locate executable f90 absoft: no Fortran 90 compiler found absoft: no Fortran 90 compiler found absoft: no Fortran 90 compiler found absoft: no Fortran 90 compiler found absoft: no Fortran 90 compiler found absoft: no Fortran 90 compiler found customize NAGFCompiler Found executable /usr/bin/f95 customize VastFCompiler customize GnuFCompiler gnu: no Fortran 90 compiler found gnu: no Fortran 90 compiler found customize CompaqFCompiler Could not locate executable fort customize IntelItaniumFCompiler Could not locate executable efort Could not locate executable efc customize IntelEM64TFCompiler customize Gnu95FCompiler Found executable /usr/bin/gfortran customize Gnu95FCompiler customize Gnu95FCompiler using build_ext I have tried building a 32bit version by installing the gfortran multilib packages and running f2py with -m32 option (but with no success): f2py -c -m module_name ./fortran/source.f90 --f77flags="-m32" --f90flags="-m32" Any suggestions on what I could try to either build 32bit version or correctly build the 64bit version? Edit: It looks like it crashes right at the end of a subroutine. The 'write' executes fine... which is strange. write(6,*)'Eh=',Eh end subroutine calcolo_involucro The full backtrace is very long and I'm not sure if it's any help, but here it is: *** glibc detected • ruby on rails: How do I access variable data in a url parameter passed to a model?

    - by bandhunt
I have a variable called "account_type" passed from a rails form and need to access the value in the corresponding model. I can check if :account_type exists as a symbol, but where does the stored data come into play? Is there something I need to do in the controller? This code gives an undefined method 'account_type' error. validates_format_of :name, :with => /^[a-z0-9_]+$/i, :on => :create if account_type == 2 If I use a symbol then it doesn't give an error, but a symbol will never equal 2 validates_format_of :name, :with => /^[a-z0-9_]+$/i, :on => :create if :account_type == 2 It's confusing that you can validate the format of a symbol (like :name above) when :name only seems to be a reference with nothing stored in it. Thanks!

  • Client to server data upload

    - by RickBowden
I'm trying to design a system similar to the traditional server monitoring systems like MOM, Tivoli, Open View, where an agent will record data and then upload it to a central database once a day, but them also be able to send immediate alerts back to the server. I'm not sure what the best methodology might be for this. I've started looking at Microsoft sync services but I'm not sure if it will fit my needs. I'm using VS2008 and C#. Does anyone have any experience or ideas about how I should go about this task?

  • Stdin to powershell script

    - by Stefan
I have a service running that can invoke an external process to modify a text stream before it is returned to the service. The text stream is handed from the service to the external process on stdout and the modified result is read from the service on stdin. The external process (command) can in other words be used as a text "filter". I would like to use a powershell script to modify the text stream. I can successfully launch a script from the service on win 2008r2 using the command "powershell -executionpolicy bypass -noninteractive ./myscript.ps1". I can make the script return text to the service on stdout using the write-host cmdlet. My problem is that I can't find a way to read the text on stdin in the script. Read-host doesn't seem to work as it requires an interactive shell. I would like to avoid writing the stdout from the service to a tmp file and read that file in the script as the service is multithreaded (can launch more than one external command at a time) and tmp file management (locking, unique filenames etc) is not desired. Is this possible or should I use for example Perl for this? Powershell seems compelling as it is preinstalled on all my win 2008 machines.

  • Leading underscore in directory name in IIS 5.

In IIS 5 one of the directories off the root has a leading underscore. All files under the directory are unreachable (404) from the browser. I have verified that the paths are correct. Other javascript files outside the directory comedown fine. Any thoughts? Example: http://fm74g4rndmu02.corp.com/_cache/softwarecommunity/api.js

  • Apache loads any file that begins with the same string as used in url. How to prevent this?

    - by MarshallBananas
If I point to: mywebsite.com/search and there is a file called search.php or search.html or search.inc.php or search.whatthehell.php in website's directory, Apache will point to that file instead of 404'ing. What is even more annoying is that if I point to: mywebsite.com/search/string?also=whatever Apache will still display any file with filename that begins with "search.". Also, all RewriteRules with patterns containing filenames existing in directory are ignored/useless. I'm using Apache 2 on Mac, unmodified httpd.conf. How do I prevent it from redirecting my urls so freely?

  • A simple WCF Service (POX) without complex serialization

    - by jammer59
I'm a complete WCF novice. I'm trying to build a deploy a very, very simple IIS 7.0 hosted web service. For reasons outside of my control it must be WCF and not ASMX. It's a wrapper service for a pre-existing web application that simply does the following: 1) Receives a POST request with the request body XML-encapsulated form elements. Something like valuevalue. This is untyped XML and the XML is atomic (a form) and not a list of records/objects. 2) Add a couple of tags to the request XML and the invoke another HTTP-based service with a simple POST + bare XML -- this will actually be added by some internal SQL ops but that isn't the issue. 3) Receive the XML response from the 3rd party service and relay it as the response to the original calling client in Step 1. The clients (step 1) will be some sort of web-based scripting but could be anything .aspx, python, php, etc. I can't have SOAP and the usual WCF-based REST examples with their contracts and serialization have me confused. This seems like a very common and very simple problem conceptually. It would be easy to implement in code but IIS-hosted WCF is a requirement. Any pointers?

  • Mac internet problems

    - by Bradley Herman
Our office is set up with mostly macs (7 of them) but we do have a windows laptop and a windows desktop on the network as well. The network is configured with a modem going into a switch/router throughout the office to the computers, along with a wireless router. Everything runs fine most of the time, but periodically while using the web, certain sites will stop loading and timeout repeatedly. This usually lasts 20 minutes or so and can be incredibly annoying. Resetting the modem/router and/or rebooting the computer never helps. The weirdest part is that in almost every case, the websites are fine on our Windows machines. I frequently use github, google, Stack Overflow, and jQuery reference and I can count on the sites being unavailable to me at least once a day. While I can't get them to load, I can spin my chair around to the windows server behind me and load the sites just fine. Any idea what the hell could be going on here?

  • Setup symbolic link where users can access it with FTP

    - by Dan Shields
I have a folder on a server where a client of mine has a bunch of folders that they upload images and what not for a site, I do a symbolic link to those folders to the root of the website. This way I can give them ftp access to upload whatever they need without having access to the root level of the website. I have another folder that I can't setup as a symbolic link to their folder, which has images they need to upload to. I know that if I create a symbolic link the other way around where the sym link is in their folder, they can't access it through FTP. There has to be a way without creating two separate FTP accounts and give a user the ability to upload to a different directory that is outside of their home directory. I see that it is ftp specific and that there are some settings that can be changed but I haven't seen any clear cut answers for the best way to handle this.
