  • What does double? mean in C# ?

    Hi, While reading the code of the NUnit project's assert class, I came across this particular construct - public static void AreEqual(double expected, double? actual, double delta) { AssertDoublesAreEqual(expected, (double)actual, delta ,null, null); } In this function the second input parameter is entered as "double?". The interesting thing is that this code compiles without issue in VS2010 (c# 4.0). Anyone know why this is NOT throwing an error ? Why is "double?" considered a valid keyword and is there any special significance to the "?".

This is an example from the book Visual C# 2010 Recipes, where the author says that the platformName variable (declaration ommitted), wil equal the OS above. Thanks

  • Get control instance in asp.net dynamic data

    Hello All: I am creating a web application using Asp.net dynamic data. I am using GridView to show data from the database. In the grid view I am having following code for columns <Columns> <asp:DynamicField DataField="UserId" UIHint="Label" /> <asp:DynamicField DataField="Address" UIHint="Address"/> <asp:DynamicField DataField="CreatedDate" UIHint="Label" /> </Columns> But, before displaying I want to do some processing in C# code for each row. In normal ASP.net grid view we can handle OnRowDataBound method, and using FindControl("controlid") we can get the control instance, but in case of dynamic data, I am not getting any id attribute for columns, so I am not able to get the control instance to show updated data in that control depending on some conditions.   • How do you use multiple versions of the same R package?

    In order to be able to compare two versions of a package, I need to able to choose which version of the package that I load. R's package system is set to by default to overwrite existing packages, so that you always have the latest version. How do I override this behaviour? My thoughts so far are: I could get the package sources, edit the descriptions to give different names and build, in effect, two different packages. I'd rather be able to work directly with the binaries though, as it is much less hassle. I don't necessarily need to have both versions of the packages loaded at the same time (just installed somewhere at the same time). I could perhaps mess about with Sys.getenv('R_HOME') to change the place where R installs the packages, and then .libpaths() to change the place where R looks for them. This seems hacky though, so does anyone have any better ideas?

  • Why does /**[newline] not always insert the Javadoc template including @param and @return in Eclipse

    I'm documenting code in Eclipse and have been using the /** followed by Enter alot to insert the Javadoc template. However this does not always work for some reason, it will create the template for writing comments but it won't automatically insert the @param and @return text. If I copy the exact same method to another class it will insert the full template. It would be a big help if anyone could tell me why it won't do this in some situations.

  • Prolog adding and removing list element if non present in second list

    I don't know what I'm missing here. I wan't to add an element if it is in arg1 but not in arg2 and want to remove an element if it is in arg1 but not in arg2. I'm using an if condition with includes function that return true if the element is in the arg2 list, false otherwise. Then use built it predicates append and select to add or remove. I'm getting false to all my objectives searches. I comment and uncomment depending on what predicate I want, add or remove. includes([],_). includes([P|Z],S) :- memberchk(P,S), includes(Z,S). addop([],list,res). addop([P|R],list,res) :- includes(P,s0) - addop(R,list,res) ; append(P,list,res), addop(R,list,res). rem([],list,res). rem([P|R],list,res) :- includes(P,list) - rem(R,list,res) ; select(P,list,res),rem(R,list,res). I am able to get sections but i am not able to display data for a particular section in correct order. I have data in the form of dictionaries in an array.     Hi, in my Django (1.2) project, I want to prepopulate a field in a modelform, but my new value is ignored. This is the snippet: class ArtefactForm(ModelForm): material = CharField(widget=AutoCompleteWidget('material', force_selection=False)) def __init__(self, *args, **kwargs): super(ArtefactForm, self).__init__(*args, **kwargs) self.fields['material'].initial = 'Test' I also tried with self.base_fields, but no effect: there is always the database-value displaying in the form.   • Inheritance vs specific types in Financial Modelling for cashflows

    Hello, I have to program some financial applications where I have to represent a schedule of flows. The flows can be of 3 types: - fee flow (just a lump payment at some date) - floating rate flow (the flow is dependant of an interest rate to be determined at a later date) - fixed rate flow (the flow is dependant of an interest rate determined when the deal is done) I need to keep the whole information and I need to represent a schedule of these flows. Originally I wanted to use inheritance and create three classes FeeFlow, FloatingFlow, FixedFlow all inheriting from ICashFlow and implement some method GetFlowType() returning an enum then I could dynamic_cast the object to the correct type. That would allow me to have only one vector to represent my schedule. What do you think of this design, should I rather use three vectors vector, vector and vector to avoid the dynamic casts ?

  • speed: XmlTextReader vs LinqtoXml

    Hi, i'm about to read some xml (who isn't :-)) This time however it's a lot of data: about 30.000 records with 5 properties, all in one file. Till now i've always read that the XmlTextReader is the fastest way to read xml data, but now there also is the (nice sytax of) linqtoXml. Does anybody know any performance issues, or that there aren't any, with LinqToXml? Michel
