  • Why it is necessary to put comments on check-ins? [closed]

    In fact, I always have something to put in when I perform a check-in of my code. However, the question I have is - Is it really so necessary? Does it help so much? How? From one point of view, comments can help you to keep track of changes performed with every check-in. Thus, I will be able to analyze the changes and identify a hypothetic problem a little bit quicker. On the other hand, it takes some time to write useful information into check-in. Is it worth it? What are the pros and cons of writing comments to every check-in? Is there any way to write "efficient" check-in comments?

  • underline line thickness always one pixel...

    ...regardless of font size. Its an mx:Text object. (The Text object is actually being used as a mask so don't know if that's the problem.) If underline is set with the <u> tag in Text.htmlText, or Text.textField.setTextFormat, the underline thickness is always just one pixel which is not acceptable. (There are other problems with <u> so I'm limited to using setTextFormat currently.) Can the thickness of an underline be set through CSS? (textField.styleSheet, etc.) I may have another problem as I already use setTextFormat extensively, and the documentation says you can't use textField.setTextFormat if you use textField.setStyleSheet. I primarily need the underline to simulate correctly the look for an anchor tag.

  • How to set up single array or dictionary for use in multiple datasources?

    I have multiple TableViewDatasources that need to display list of objects form same pool depending of certain property. E.g. object.flag1 is set- it will show up in TableView1 object.flag2 is set- it will show up in TableView2 The obvious way would be to have separate arrays for each TableView, But same object may appear in different arrays. Also I need to update objects very often or access all objects through same array. How do I setup a single dictionary or array to have all objects in one structure? To put it in another way: When table view or selection changes, application need to redraw TableViews with the new data. Application have to access the pool of objects and search through them using iterator and accessing each object and its properties. I think that this is an expensive operation and want to avoid that. Perhaps maybe by making a global pool of objects a dictionary and exposing objects properties as dictionary fields. So instead of iterating global pool of objects I could access global pool Dicitonary in a manner of database by selecting objects that has fields that match particular criteria. Anyone know any example of doing that?

  • Forms Authentication & Virtual Directory

    Hi, We're having trouble getting Forms Authentication to work with a virtual directory in IIS. We have a main site, and then a microsite setup within a virtual directory. This mircosite has its own admin system within an "Admin" folder, which has authentication on it but currently it is not kicking in and the admin section is browsable by anyone. The web.config with the admin folder has the following: <?xml version="1.0"?> <configuration> <appSettings/> <connectionStrings/> <system.web> <authorization> <deny users="?"/> </authorization> <customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" defaultRedirect="~/Admin/Error.aspx"/> </system.web> </configuration> Could anyone give me any clues as to why this might not be working?   • Caching and accessing configuration data in ASP.NET MVC app.

    I'm about to take a look at how to implement internationalisation for an ASP.NET MVC project. I'm looking at how to allow the user to change languages. My initial though is a dropdownlist containing each of the supported langauages. Whoever a few questions have come to mind: How to store the list of supported languages? (e.g. just "en", "English"; "fr", "French" etc.) An xml file? .config files? If I store this in a file I'll have to cache this (at startup I guess). So, what would be best, load the xml data into a list (somehow) and store this list in the System.Web.Cache? Application State? How then to load this data into the view (for display in a dropdown)? Give the view direct access to the cache? Just want to make sure I'm going in the right direction here... Thank you.

  • Which Database to choose?

    I have the following criteria Database should be protected with a username and password. It should not be possible to copy the database file and use it else were like MS Access. There will be no central database server. Each machine will run their own database server locally and user will initiate synchronization. Concept is inspired from distributed version control system like Git. So it should have good replication support. Strong consistency is not needed. Users will synchronize each other database when they need. In case of conflicts it should be possible to find the conflict and present it (from application) to the user for fixing it. Revisions of data if available it will be good. e.g. Entire history of change to a invoice. I explored document oriented database and inclined towards the same. But I dont know what to choose. Database is small it will not reach even 1GB in the next few years (say 3 years). Please feel free to suggest any database which you think might be suitable. Any pointers is highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  • iphone dylibs and frameworks are already in the device?

    Are dylibs and frameworks already in an iPhone, or does my app actually incorporate them? Also, in Xcode I see dylibs with identical names. Sometimes the subsequent names are incremented, as in libz.dylib, libz.1.dylib, libz.1.1.3.dylib, and libz.1.2.3.dylib. If I have to include libz, should I use the one with the highest rev number, assuming that that's what that is?

  • Overriding classes/functions from a .dll.

    Say I have class A and class B. B inherits from class A, and implements a few virtual functions. The only problem is that B is defined in a .dll. Right now, I have a function that returns an instance of class A, but it retrieves that from a static function in the .dll that returns an instance of class B. My plan is to call the created object, and hopefully, have the functions in the .dll executed instead of the functions defined in class A. For some reason, I keep getting restricted memory access errors. Is there something I don't understand that will keep this plan from working?

  • Unit Test json output in Zend Framework

    The Zend Tutorial lists many assertions to check the output generated by a request. http://framework.zend.com/manual/en/zend.test.phpunit.html But they all seem to assume that the output is html. I need to test json output instead. Are there any assertions helpful to check json, or is there at least a generic way to make assertions against the output? Anything that doesn't rely on the request outputting html?

    What would be the best way to transfer 4.4 GB of user images to S3? I would prefer to somehow directly trasnfer images from my current production server to a S3 bucket and without having to download images to my home mahchine first and then upload it to a S3 bucket. Thanks.

    Hi I have created a windows2003 cluster and then try to configure MSDTC by following the link http://support.microsoft.com/kb/301600/#appliesto after follow this i have enable network DTC access in Windows Server 2003 by following http://support.microsoft.com/kb/817064/ But the group i have created MSDTC( as said in first link from 7th point onwards ) for the resourse Distribution Transaction Coordinator failed and all are in online after done this. But i dont know why it is failing.. I dont know how to post the screen shot here.....

    Hi all I am having a problem with the deployment of Windows 7 from a server with Microsoft Toolkit 2010. When deployment has finished I get a Windows error report which shows following message. FAILURE (Er): 70: CreateObject(Microsoft.BDD.Utility) - Permission denied Litetouch deployment failed, Return Code = - 2147023589 0x8007051B I don't get it what Microsoft.BDD.Utility is exactly and when this utility is used (Tasksequence?) ? Can anyone help me on this problem?

  • Memory Stick Controller is not compatible with this version of Windows.

    I'm getting this error message in the Action Center on Windows 7, and I can't seem to solve it through Windows or through searches on Google: RICOH R5C592 PCI-CardBus/IEEE-1394/SD Card/Memory Stick Controller is not compatible with this version of Windows. Thanks for any help PS. I wasn't sure if you're allowed to post questions like this, about proprietary software, but I checked the FAQ and it seemed ok. Response: The URL I am told to visit it this but I can't tell which I should choose that I am originally presented with, or what to put in to select, as I am not sure what input it is referring to.

  • Anonymous methods/functions: a fundamental feature or a violation of OO principles?

    Is the recent movement towards anonymous methods/functions by mainstream languages like perl and C# something important, or a weird feature that violates OO principles? Are recent libraries like the most recent version of Intel's Thread Building Blocks and Microsofts PPL and Linq that depend on such things a good thing, or not? Are languages that currently reject anonymous methods/functions, like Java, making wise choices in sticking with a purely OO model, or are they falling behind by lacking a fundamental programming feature?

  • Search a string to find which records in table are inside said string

    Hello, Say I have a string. Then I have a number of unique tokens or keywords, potentially a large number in a database. I want to search and find out which of these database strings are inside the string I provide (and get the IDs of them). Is there a way of using a query to search the provided string or must it be taken to application space? Am I right in thinking that this is not a 'full text search'? Would the best method be to insert it into the database to make it a full text search?

  • Preserve whitespace and formatting for text returned from $.get jquery call

    I have a jquery $.get() call in my app that requests an entire web page. In the callback function, I access a div in the returned page, get its data and show it on my page. The problem is that the text I get from the div does not preserve the source formatting. If the div in the requested page had say an ordered list, then when i get that text and display on my page, it shows up as a paragraph with items inline instead of being shown as a list.   • I'm working on Peano Axioms in Agda and I've hit a bit of a sticking point

    PA6 : ?{m n} -> m = n -> n = m is the axiom I am trying to solve and support, I've tried using a cong (from the core library) but am having troubles with the cong constructor PA6 = cong gets me nowhere, I know for cong I am required to supply a refl for equality and a type, but I'm, not sure what type I'm supposed to supply. Ideas? This is for a small assignment at University, so I'd rather someone demonstrate what I've missed rather than write the acutual answer, but I'd appreciate any degree of support.
