  • How to create a HTML world map with GeoDjango ?

    - by pierre-guillaume-degans
    The GeoDjango tutorial explains how to insert world borders into a spatial database. I would like to create a world Map in HTML with these data, with both map and area tags. Something like that. I just don't know how to retrieve the coordinates for each country (required for the area's coords attribute). from world.models import WorldBorders for country in WorldBorders.objects.all(): print u'<area shape="poly" title="%s" alt="%s" coords="%s" />' % (v.name, v.name, "???") Thanks !

  • Which PSU should I chose? The biggest is the best?

    - by Shiki
    I'm fully aware of PSU's "Active PFC" and that they won't consume the written W all the time. (Makes sense). But now I'm before a PSU replacement (Guys: NEVER buy a Chieftec. Seriously.) The question is: If one can get a bigger one (in my case 750W and 650W) ... should that person go for the bigger one ? (The difference in price is not much). No, I don't think I'll soon use all that much. (Help (if you want of course) to make the question more generic if the question is really not OK in this form. I've been wondering about this for a time already. In my case it would be XFX Black Edition Silver 750W and 650W)

  • Android VideoView resume and seekTo

    - by Chris
    I am playing a Video using a VideoView in my app. On the click of a button, it records the current position of the video, and the app opens up the browser with some url. On pressing the back button, the app comes back to video app and resumes the video from where it left off. I looked at the Android Activity lifecycle and saw that onStart() method gets called once the video activity comes to the foreground. So I am creating my layout in onStart() and playing the video by seeking to the current position. My problem is that when the video resumes, it buffers from the start and then seeks to. Since it already buffered the first time, is there a way to eliminate buffering again while doing a seekTo? Thanks Chris

  • PHP - How can I lookup the Zip Code using the City & State

    - by John Himmelman
    I need to lookup the Zip Code for a list of addresses (which include the city/state). Is there a master zip code list for download (that is free) or are there any web services that will return the full postage info for an address. Ie, lookup query: 386 Bread & Cheese Hollow Rd, Northport, NY ==== 386 Bread And Cheese Hollow Rd, Northport, NY 11768 Thanks!

  • "Circuit breaker" for net.msmq?

    - by Alex
    Hi, The Circuit Breaker pattern, from the book Release It!, protects a service from requests while it is failing (or recovering). The net.msmq binding used with transactions give us nice retry and poison message capabilities. But I am missing the implementation of such a "Circuit breaker" pattern. A service is put under even heavier load by retries while it is already in a failure condition (like DB connectivity issues causing loads of blocked threads etc.). Anyone knows about a behavior extension or similar that explicitly closes the service host when defined failure thresholds have been exceeded? Cheers, Alex

  • Problem with evaluating XPath expression in Java

    - by JSteve
    Can somebody help me find the mistake I am doing in evaluating following XPath expression? I want to get all "DataTable" nodes under the node "Model" in my xml through XPath. Here is my XML doc: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <Root> <Application> <Model> <DataSet name="ds" primaryTable="Members" openRows="1"> <DataTable name="Members" openFor="write"> <DataColumn name="id" type="String" mandatory="true" primaryKey="true" valueBy="user"/> <DataColumn name="name" type="String" mandatory="true" valueBy="user"/> <DataColumn name="address" type="String" mandatory="false" valueBy="user"/> <DataColumn name="city" type="String" mandatory="false" valueBy="user"/> <DataColumn name="country" type="String" mandatory="false" valueBy="user"/> </DataTable> </DataSet> </Model> <View> <Composite> <Grid> <Label value="ID:" row="0" column="0" /> <Label value="Name:" row="1" column="0" /> <Label value="Address:" row="2" column="0" /> <Label value="City:" row="3" column="0" /> <Label value="Country:" row="4" column="0" /> <TextField name="txtId" row="0" column="1" /> <TextField name="txtName" row="1" column="1" /> <TextField name="txtAddress" row="2" column="1" /> <TextField name="txtCity" row="3" column="1" /> <TextField name="txtCountry" row="4" column="1" /> </Grid> </Composite> </View> </Application> </Root> Here the Java code to extract required node list: try { DocumentBuilderFactory domFactory = DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance(); domFactory.setNamespaceAware(true); domFactory.setIgnoringComments(true); domFactory.setIgnoringElementContentWhitespace(true); DocumentBuilder builder = domFactory.newDocumentBuilder(); Document dDoc = builder.parse("D:\TEST\myFile.xml"); XPath xpath = XPathFactory.newInstance().newXPath(); NodeList nl = (NodeList) xpath.evaluate("//Model//DataTable", dDoc, XPathConstants.NODESET); System.out.println(nl.getLength()); }catch (Exception ex) { System.out.println(ex.getMessage()); } There is no problem in loading and parsing xml file and I can see correct nodes in dDoc. Problem is with xpath that returns nothing on evaluating my expression. I tried many other expressions for testing purpose but every time resulting NodeList "nl" does not have any item

  • How much Java should I have learnt before trying Android programming?

    - by Sidney Yin
    Hi - I have been seeking beginner learning books in Android, and of course found out that I should learn Java first. So I began studying Java and now I am quite comfortable with objects, classes, inheritance, interfaces, and just moved onto Layouts in Swing as well as Swing Features. But I am starting to wonder.... do I know enough about Java now? Can I start programming Android yet? Of course I can keep going in Java, but have been itching to begin programming Android apps. Any definitive answer here about how much Java I need to know before Android? Thanks so much!

  • Does this pattern have a name?

    - by LK7jb
    Disclaimer: I'm trying to learn proper OO programming/design, so I'm pretty new to this stuff. I guess this is a general design patterns question, but I'll base my example on a game engine or something that renders objects to the display. Consider the following: How can this sort of separation between physical objects (e.g., cubes, spheres, etc.) and the rendering mechanism be achieved in an extensible manner? This design is not set in stone, and perhaps I've got something wrong from the start. I'm just curious as to how a problem like this is solved in real world code.

  • Android SDK not recognizing debug-able device.

    - by kal.zekdor
    I'm new to Android development, and am attempting to run a test application on my actual device. I followed the instructions at http://developer.android.com/guide/developing/device.html (and related links), but the Android Debug Bridge (adb) doesn't recognize my connected device. Some quick background info, I'm running WinXP, developing with Eclipse, with a Motorola Droid running Android 2.1 as my physical device. An overview of the steps I've taken: Installed the Android SDK, downloading all necessary packages. Enabled USB Debugging on my device. Connected Device via USB, installing the driver from the SDK folder. I'll stop here (though I continued to setup my application to be debug-able in Eclipse), because I at this point I noticed a problem. Running "sdk\tools\adb devices" at this point (at least, by my understanding), should list my device as connected. However, running this yields only: List of devices attached My device recognizes that it's connected to a computer in debug mode, and my computer recognizes the device. However, I can't seem to get the sdk to recognize it. I'll leave out the steps I used to setup Eclipse for debugging on a device, as it doesn't seem relevant to the problem. I'll include them if requested. If anyone has any ideas, I'd greatly appreciate some assistance. Thanks in advance for your time.

    - by idrish

  • Get the layout mode (landscape or portrait) of a pdf from php/linux

    - by Jonathan Hendler
    Given a PDF, how can one get the layout mode of a PDF (or relative width/height) using a PHP lib or linux command line tool? Using http://www.tecnick.com/public/code/cp%5Fdpage.php?aiocp%5Fdp=tcpdf which can set this variable on new PDFs, but for existing pdfs from adobe. Thought of converting pdfs to ps, or using gs in some other way - like converting it to an image first, and getting the width and height of that. Is this the best way?

  • .NET Mailserver smtp/relay problem

    - by Quandary
    Question, I'm trying to setup my own mailserver: This is the server (latest version): http://www.codeproject.com/KB/vista/SMTP_POP3_IMAP_server.aspx Now I've the following problem: I can add user accounts, and receive mails from the internet in that account. I can also setup a mailinglist. This works fine (for local users). But I can't send any emails out... Why ? I've forwarded port 25 + 110, and it works fine for receiving mails from the internet. Do I need to configure SMTP under SMTP, or under relay, or both ? Or do I miss anything ?

Like Duracell but in a PSU. :) But the performance is a different thing.)

  • Converting a C# code to F#??

    - by Brendon
    Hello all I am just a beginner in programing i wish covert some code from C# to F#, I have encotered this code: float[] v1=new float[10]; ... //Enqueue the Execute command. Queue.Execute(kernelVecSum, null, **new long[] { v1.Length }**, null, null); I have previously ask how to convert the v1 object, I think i know how, But how do i use the function call especially the "new long[] { v1.Length }" part of the function argument, what does "new long[] { v1.Length }" mean?? I have created v1 like this "let v1 = [| for i in 1.0 .. 10.0 -> 2.0 * i |]" Is it correct?? or should i use v1 like this "let v1 = ref [| for i in 1.0 .. 10.0 -> 2.0 * i |]" ???
