  • How can I generate the Rowland prime sequence idiomatically in J?

    If you're not familiar with the Rowland prime sequence, you can find out about it here. I've created an ugly, procedural monadic verb in J to generate the first n terms in this sequence, as follows: rowland =: monad define result =. 0 $ 0 t =. 1 $ 7 while. (# result) < y do. a =. {: t n =. 1 + # t t =. t , a + n +. a d =. | -/ _2 {. t if. d > 1 do. result =. ~. result , d end. end. result ) This works perfectly, and it indeed generates the first n terms in the sequence. (By n terms, I mean the first n distinct primes.) Here is the output of rowland 20: 5 3 11 23 47 101 7 13 233 467 941 1889 3779 7559 15131 53 30323 60647 121403 242807 My question is, how can I write this in more idiomatic J? I don't have a clue, although I did write the following function to find the differences between each successive number in a list of numbers, which is one of the required steps.     Hi All, I need to develop a Instant Lottery game app. I need an idea/procedure to implement Scratchable custom widget similar to instant Lottery Tickets in Android. The requirement is like, the actual content(secret number) should be covered by some image(which indicates scratch area). When the user touch and scratch the image, the image has to disappear slowly and the background content(secret number) should appear accordingly. Please let me know the best way to implement this.   • What's the best way to stop multiple instances of a Windows app being launched?

    Many Windows apps (like Skype or MSN for instance) don't let you start multiple instances, rather trying to run it a 2nd time just leaves the existing version running. Is this typically done in some simple way - the start-menu shortcut is a 'wrapper' app around the main app - or is there some registry magic you can do to delegate the problem to Windows itself? Specifically dealing with Win32 here (unmanaged C++) but happy to hear more general solutions as long as they are workable on Windows XP or alter.

  • Problem with eastern european characters when scraping data from the European Parliaments Website

    Dear Experts I am trying to scrape a lot of data from the European Parliament website for a research project. Ther first step is the create a list if all parliamentarians, however due to the many Eastern European names and the accents they use i get a lot of missing entries. Here is an example of what is giving me troubles (notice the accents at the end of the family name): ANDRIKIENE, Laima Liucija Group of the European People's Party (Christian Democrats) So far I have been using PyParser and the following code: parser_names name = Word(alphanums + alphas8bit) begin, end = map(Suppress, "<") names = begin + ZeroOrMore(name) + "," + ZeroOrMore(name) + end for name in names.searchString(page): print(name) However this does not catch the name from the html above.   • Better Version Control (Distributed) - Minimum impact on sources - always possible to update

    I am f...fed up with Subversion. Need a version control that: Can be used without affecting the sources with embedded files (like the Subversion .svn-directories), or having to check in and then check out (If you want to version control live web-site files for example). It should always be possible to bring the repository quickly up to date whatever I have done (Without resolving conflicts or adding files first etc.) Ideally it should be possible to merge repositories starting out as separate. I thing it should be a distributed one, I think GIT is the Lingua Franca, but there is also Mercurial and Bazaar, which should have some advantages since they exist :-)

  • Grub Error 18 - Solid State Drive

    I recently used Raw Copy to make an image of my 300gb Raptor Hd to a OCZ Vertex SSD 60GB. And When I pluged in the SSD to boot I get a Grub Error 18. I have tried to changed in the BIOS setting to LBA, Large, Auto, trying different combination's. Any advice. thanks, Clint

  • paypal custom confirmation page

    I have a deposit page where people can deposit money on their accounts, but I would like to extend this with other payment methods and also I don't want to have certain information in the form visible to people (those who now how to manipulate form data using firebug). So I want to submit the form to a confirmation page where the data is processed and where new data is added like the paypal e-mail and the IPN link that needs to be send to, and only then redirected to paypal. is there php code I can use to submit the form immediatly once the data is processed? or should this be done in the meta tag or something like that?

  • iPhone keyboard's return key will move curser to next textfield

    Hello Fellow Koder ••• I have a TableViewController that is using a grouped Style and has two(2) sections. The first section has 4 rows and the second section has 3 rows. I have placed a UILabel and a UITextField in each cell, and have a custom method(textFieldDone:) to handle the cursor movement to the next text field when the return key is press.     Hi, I am a little stumped with how to do this. I am using jQuery and wish to encapsulate certain sets of divs with a div. For example I have: <div class="group-1">x</div> <div class="group-1">x</div> <div class="group-2">x</div> <div class="group-2">x</div> <div class="group-3">x</div> And wish to end up with: <div id="set-1"> <div class="group-1">x</div> <div class="group-1">x</div> </div> <div id="set-2"> <div class="group-2">x</div> <div class="group-2">x</div> </div> <div id="set-3"> <div class="group-3">x</div> </div> I am able to cycle through each div and add a div around each one but not the way I want above.   • Will the next iPhone Simulator be able to simulate the high resolution of iPhone 4?

    As a follow-up to this question, the next one is: Will we be able to simulate our interfaces how they look on the new high resolution display, even without owning an iPhone 4? I guess that there is a formula that we can use to calculate the exact needed distance between our monitors and our eyes, to achieve the exact same visual effect of the Retina Display.   • UITableView: block cell dragging during reordering

    Hi I've a problem with UITableView. When I'm in editing mode i want to reorder the cell but e when I drag a cell at the bottom of the screen it's allowed to go down as much as the TableView height and down the last tableViewCell. I've only 4 cell and i want that when Im dragging a cell it's not allowed to go down after the fourth cell. Can Anyone help me?!?
