  • iPhone UIButton addTarget:action:forControlEvents: not working

    - by Aaron Vegh
    I see there are similar problems posted here, but none of the solutions work for me. Here goes: I have a UIButton instance inside a UIView frame, which is positioned within another UIView frame, which is positioned in the main window UIView. To wit: UIWindow --> UIView (searchView) --> UISearchBar (findField) --> UIView (prevButtonView) --> UIButton (prevButton) --> UIView (nextButtonView) --> UIButton (nextButton) So far, so good: everything is laid out as I want it. However, the buttons aren't accepting user input of any kind. I am using the UIButton method addTarget:action:forControlEvents: and to give you an idea of what I'm doing, here's my code for nextButton: nextButton = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeCustom]; [nextButton setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"find_next_on.png"] forState:UIControlStateNormal]; [nextButton setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"find_next_off.png"] forState:UIControlStateDisabled]; [nextButton setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"find_next_off.png"] forState:UIControlStateHighlighted]; [nextButton addTarget:self action:@selector(nextResult:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; The method nextResult: never gets called, the state of the button doesn't change on touching, and there's not a damned thing I've been able to do to get it working. I assume that there's an issue with all these layers of views: maybe something is sitting on top of my button, but I'm not sure what it could be. In the interest of information overload, I found a bit of code that would print out all my view info. This is what I get for my entire view hierarchy: UIWindow {{0, 0}, {320, 480}} UILayoutContainerView {{0, 0}, {320, 480}} UINavigationTransitionView {{0, 0}, {320, 480}} UIViewControllerWrapperView {{0, 64}, {320, 416}} UIView {{0, 0}, {320, 416}} UIWebView {{0, 44}, {320, 416}} UIScroller {{0, 0}, {320, 416}} UIImageView {{0, 0}, {54, 54}} UIImageView {{0, 0}, {54, 54}} UIImageView {{0, 0}, {54, 54}} UIImageView {{0, 0}, {54, 54}} UIImageView {{-14.5, 14.5}, {30, 1}} UIImageView {{-14.5, 14.5}, {30, 1}} UIImageView {{0, 0}, {1, 30}} UIImageView {{0, 0}, {1, 30}} UIImageView {{0, 430}, {320, 30}} UIImageView {{0, 0}, {320, 30}} UIWebDocumentView {{0, 0}, {320, 21291}} UIView {{0, 0}, {320, 44}} UISearchBar {{10, 8}, {240, 30}} UISearchBarBackground {{0, 0}, {240, 30}} UISearchBarTextField {{5, -2}, {230, 31}} UITextFieldBorderView {{0, 0}, {230, 31}} UIPushButton {{205, 6}, {19, 19}} UIImageView {{10, 8}, {15, 15}} UILabel {{30, 7}, {163, 18}} UIView {{290, 15}, {23, 23}} UIButton {{0, 0}, {0, 0}} UIImageView {{-12, -12}, {23, 23}} UIView {{260, 15}, {23, 23}} UIButton {{0, 0}, {0, 0}} UIImageView {{-12, -12}, {23, 23}} UINavigationBar {{0, 20}, {320, 44}} UINavigationButton {{267, 7}, {48, 30}} UIImageView {{0, 0}, {48, 30}} UIButtonLabel {{11, 7}, {26, 15}} UINavigationItemView {{79, 8}, {180, 27}} UINavigationItemButtonView {{5, 7}, {66, 30}} MBProgressHUD {{0, 0}, {320, 480}} UIActivityIndicatorView {{141, 206}, {37, 37}} UILabel {{117, 247}, {86, 27}} The relevant part is noted above the UINavigationBar section. Anyone have any suggestions? I'm all out. Thanks for reading. Aaron.

  • What's the best way to deal with limitations in Google AJAX Language API?

    - by allyourcode
    I'm mostly interested in translation, but I'm sure someone else is looking for info on the other features of the language API (namely transliteration and virtual keyboard). I see alot of pages on the web about the limitations of the Language API, but I don't see anything about this in the official docs. Links to where this is described in the official docs would be greatly appreciated. Also, I'm guessing that the best solution will involve breaking up longer texts and translating each piece. Does this violate Google's term's of use? Doesn't this defeat the purpose of having a limit in the first place? Again, links to official documentation would be great.

  • Remove a child with a specific attribute, in SimpleXML for PHP

    - by TimTowdi
    I have several identical elements with different attributes that I'm accessing with SimpleXML: <data> <seg id="A1"/> <seg id="A5"/> <seg id="A12"/> <seg id="A29"/> <seg id="A30"/> </data> I need to remove a specific seg element, with an id of "A12", how can I do this? I've tried looping through the seg elements and unsetting the specific one, but this doesn't work, the elements remain. foreach($doc->seg as $seg) { if($seg['id'] == 'A12') { unset($seg); } }

  • what can be causes of http server crash?

    - by mithunmo
    Hello , I am using WAMP server on Windows XP. Apache 2.2.11 MySQL 5.1.36 (INNODB engine) PHP 5.3.0 I observe that my WAMP server crashes in the following scenarios IF I use a Low end PC ( low processor speed and low RAM) After making some changes to httpd.conf file .For eg changing the Allow from IP address . But here it crashes only once and then it starts to work fine. Random crashes CRASH LOG szAppName : httpd.exe szAppVer : 2.2.11.0 szModName : php5ts.dll szModVer : 5.3.0.0 offset : 0000c309 C:\DOCUME~1\blrcom\LOCALS~1\Temp\WERc677.dir00\httpd.exe.mdmp C:\DOCUME~1\blrcom\LOCALS~1\Temp\WERc677.dir00\appcompat.txt My questions Does high CPU utilization/LOW RAM can also cause the HTTP server to crash ? excessive file reading as in every 10 seconds ? unlimited script execution time . I have set the maximum execution time in php script to 0 as my script has to execute for sometimes 2-3 days. Is there any way to avoid this ? Access to Database ? Should we use lock before reading and writing Can these be the reasons for random wamp server crashes ? OR is is some other programming error ? Please guide me . Regards, Mithun

Here's what I've got so far: Read the instructions in this post: http://kmwoley.com/blog/?p=345 , which were quite straight forward and clear. Properly formatted USB key with another laptop (this one running vista), also with no DVD drive wasn't sure how to make the USB bootable, since my .iso was downloaded and I have no DVD drive. Any help would be much appreciated!!

  • Prepare bootable Mac OS install usb on Windows

    - by Dave
    Hello, Is there any software out there that can simulate Disk Utility (Mac app) for Windows? I need to reinstall leopard on my Mac because I screwed something up on the current OS. The thing is, the DVD drive is broken on there, so I need to prepare a bootable USB drive from my Leopard DMG file. This is easily done with the Disk Utility app on the Mac. But seeing how my cannot even log on to my Mac right now, I don't know how to prepare that USB stick. The only other machine I have is a PC with Windows 7. If anyone has any suggestion, please help me out! Thanks so much!

  • Default Critique branch office setup: VPNTunnel->HQ, subnets for VOIP/PC, + several Q's

    - by CHickenTaragon
    We're setting up a new branch office. * ~10 users. * Each user has a VOIP phone provided by a hosted solution. * Users need access to resources on HQ (located in another state), so setting up VPN tunnel * HQ only supports certain Cisco/Juniper devices. VOIP provider only supports SonicWall, so current plan is to have two routers w/ separate subnets for VOIP vs. PC traffic. * PC's will plug into pass-thru Ethernet jacks on the VOIP phones, but the phones vs. PC's will point to different subnets. * Cable Modem is 50Mbps / 5Mbps DOCSIS 3.0 business line w/ 5 static IP's. * Each of the 2 subnets will map to one of the 5 public IP's. * May or may not also need to support a VPN tunnel with a second branch office because of a file server they have there that some in the new office use. I'm pushing to have them move the files to a server on the HQ's network so we don't have to worry about setting up an additional tunnel. Questions: Do you foresee any issues with the below set-up? Router recommendations by HQ IT staff: Cisco Router 2811, or Juniper SSG5 or SSG20. Any recommendations about these routers? We need Wi-Fi too – looks like the above routers have models that support this, any reason not to use this? Users need to be able to work from home. If so, how is authentication handled? Right now we use AD credentials for the HQ's domain, but we currently don't plan to have an AD system in the new location since it's only 10 users. We can't tie the authentication system from the new location's router to the AD system of the HQ. All the PC's that will be in the new location are currently in the existing office that is closing down, and are already joined to the domain of the HQ. Please confirm: this + the VPN tunnel will be sufficient for them to connect to authenticated resources on the HQ's network from the new location, correct? Mainly SQL servers and file servers, and a few remote desktop sessions. I'm sure I'll have some more questions, but can't think of them right now.

  • Financial Statement Presentation Changes

    - by Theresa Hickman
    On March 10, 2010, FASB and IASB came to an agreement on financial statement presentation. They have been discussing changes for some time, such as displaying more lines items and moving certain line items from equity to the P&L, and now it seems they have finally come to a joint decision and put it in writing. I recently learned that there will be a trend to book nothing to equity and to convey everything in the P&L to take away any facility for companies to hide losses from its shareholders, investors, etc. (I'm exaggerating when I say book nothing to equity. Obviously, those items that already live there, such as stocks and dividends, would stay there.) But accounts like your CTA (Cumulative Translation Adjustment account) used to plug the gain or loss from equity translation would move from the equity section to your expense section. The rationale is that when you run translation, you're doing so for a subsidiary that you own, or simply put, it's a foriegn investment. Thus, the gains/losses of that foriegn investment should be itemized on your P&L and not buried in equity. The FASB will include changes in financial statement presentation in its Exposure Draft that is planned for issuance at the end of April 2010. Companies will be required to adopt the financial statement presentation provisions retroactively. Yes, that means companies will need to apply these changes to previously issued financial statements. The FASB Summary of Board Decisions can be found at "fasb.org".

  • Why does Git display certain new folders when checking out old revisions?

    - by ConnorG
    Hey all - I'm still learning the ropes of Git (love it!) but the other day I noticed some behavior I just do not understand. We have, in essence, three folders that got moved into the repository at different times (one immediately after we created the repo, one a little while later, and one just recently). Recently, I had to get some code out of an old revision. I used git checkout <old SHA1 hash> to pull up one of our first checkins, when I noticed Git showed the old folder (as it should), as well as the newest folder (which got added to the repo long after the checked out commit was made). But it did not show the second folder. What would cause Git to display the newest folder with the old revision?

  • Using Linux vs Windows for development

    - by Philipp Lenssen
    On my servers I run everything on Linux/ Apache, but for offline preparation before upload of the projects I'm using Windows (Vista) with a local Apache/ WAMP, PHP, Python, GD_image installation and so on. My question, would it be much easier in terms of setting up a good environment if I were to use Linux, e.g. Ubuntu distribution, as development OS for these things? Would you know some pros and cons when it comes to Windows vs Linux in terms of web development? (As I'm using mostly web apps these days, switching the OS might be less of a problem. I would need a good replacement for my image editor, though, as I prefer Corel PhotoPaint and PSP4 over Gimp, last time I tried.)

  • C++ _beginthreadex in cygwin

    - by Hugh
    Hello all, I am aware that _beginthreadex is part of the MSCVRT functions and therefore not accessible via Cygwin/MinGW uintptr_t _beginthreadex( void *security, unsigned stack_size, unsigned ( __stdcall *start_address )( void * ), void *arglist, unsigned initflag, unsigned *thrdaddr ); However, _beginthreadex does call upon CreateThread(). HANDLE CreateThread( LPSECURITY_ATTRIBUTES secAttr, SIZE_T stackSize, LPTHREAD_START_ROUTINE threadFunc, LPVOID param, DWORD flags, LPDWORD threadID ); However, does anyone have a wrapper or a URL to a library that is compatible with Cygwin/WinGW. Or can offer some advice? As this is the last little piece of moving from VSutdio Project over to makefiles for Windows/Darwin/Linux. Thanks.

    - by DucDigital

I currently don't understand the basic of this (In GWT, i think it implement Comet), so is there anyone can give me a term or definition for this? so I can get it on Google for more information? Thank you very much

  • A polygon creation program, adjacent face ignoring not working right. Any solutions?

    - by user292767
    I'm working on a simple program that converts a 3d array into a polygon structure similar to voxels. It reads the array and creates cubes for positions with a value and checks adjacent directions (North,south,east,west,up,down) for a null value before setting up a cube's face. A link that displays the full code is below, written in GLBasic. Some snapshots to show you whats up. link text

    - by Ke
    Hi, I'm new to JPA. In JPA, the query is: Query query = entityManager.createQuery("select o from Product o WHERE o.category = :value"); query.setParameter("category", category); How can I set category to any category in JPA? So if the null category passed, I simple ignore the category parameter, select all products.
