    Straightforward question - apologies if it is a duplicate, but I can't find the answer if so. I have a User model and a Submission model, like this: class Submission(models.Model): uploaded_by = models.ForeignKey('User') class User(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length=250 ) How can I show the number of Submissions made by each user in the template? I've tried {{ user.submission.count }}, like this: for user in users: {{ user.name }} ({{ user.submission.count }} submissions) but no luck...

  • determine parity of a bit representation of a number in MIPS

    Is there some instruction in MIPS that will determine the parity of a certain bit representation? I know to determine whether a "number" has an even parity or an odd parity is to XOR the individual bits of the binary representation together, but that seems computationally-intensive for a set of MIPS instructions... and I need to do this as quick as possible. Also, the number I'm working in is represented in Grey Code... just to throw that in there. So is there some pseudo-instruction in MIPS to determine the parity of a "number" or do I have to do it by hand? If there is no MIPS instruction, which it seems very unlikely to be, any advice on how to do it by hand?   • Qt Graphics Scene mouse event propagation

    hello i'm learning qt and i'm doing the folowing to add some widgets to a graphics scene void MainWindow::addWidgets(QList<QWidget *> &list, int code) { if(code == CODE_INFO) { QWidget *layoutWidget = new QWidget(); QVBoxLayout *layout = new QVBoxLayout(); foreach(QWidget *w, list) { layout->addWidget(w); this->connect(((ProductInfo*)w), SIGNAL(productClicked()), this, SLOT(getProductDetails())); } layoutWidget->setLayout(layout); this->scene->addWidget(layoutWidget); } } my ProductInfo class processes mouse release and emits a signal void ProductInfo::mouseReleaseEvent(QMouseEvent *e) { QWidget::mouseReleaseEvent(e); emit productClicked(); } the problem is after adding the widgets to the scene they no longer get the mouse release event and don't emit productClicked signal but if i add them to the main window(not to the scene) they work as expected. What am i doing wrong?

  • Visual Studion 2008 App_Data defaults

    Is it possible to use the App_Data folder in conjunction with SQL Server 2005? When I try it specifies Express even though I have changed the ToolsOptionsDatabaseData Connections to the correct server. I have downloaded SQLEXPR32_x86_ENU.exe Version 10.0.1600.22 file locally and have gone through 7 installs and deinstalls with a variety of different errors. I pretty much given up on Express and would like to find a workaround if it exists. Thanks Dennis Keith

  • Is there a c++ library that provides functionality to execute an external program and read its outpu

    Basically, I'm looking for something that will allow me to replicate the following Perl code: my $fh = new FileHandle; $fh->open("foo |"); while (<$fh>) { # Do something with this line of data. } This is in the context of Linux, so a library that is specific to Windows will not help. I know how to write a program that does fork/exec/dup2 and all that basic shell-type jazz, but there are some fiddly details involving terminals that I don't feel like messing around with (and I don't have a copy of "Advanced Programming in the UNIX Environment" or a similar reference handy), so I'm hoping that someone has already solved this problem.

  • Out of the box approach to upload XML file to the BIRT Server for Processing

    Hello, I have the BIRT Report Server configured in TOMCAT and it works fine when running reports that require an XML datasource, but that XML file has be available on the network in order for the server to find it and run. Is there an out of the box configuration in the BIRT server that will prompt the user to upload the XML file directly to the server when they try to run a given report that requires an XML data source? This would be handy for users that have the XML datasource stored locally on their C drive and not have to move them to a network server in order to be read by BIRT. Thanks in advance. Paul

  • Dissertation about website and database security - in need of some pointers

    Hi, I am on my dissertation in my final year at university at the moment. One of the areas I need to research is security - for both websites and for databases. I currently have sections on the following: Website Form security - such as data validation. This section is more about preventing errors made by legitimate users as much as possible rather than stopping hackers, for example comparing a field to a regular expression and giving them meaningful feedback on any errors which did occur so as to stop it happening again. Constraints. For example if a value must be true or false then use a checkbox. If it is likely to be one of several values then use a dropdown or a set of radio boxes, and so on. If the value is unpredictable then use regular expressions to limit what characters they are allowed to enter, and to restrict the length of the string, and sometimes to limit the format (such as for dates / times, post codes and so on). Sometimes you can limit permissions to the form. This is on the occasion that you know exactly who (whether it be peoples names or a group of people - such as administrators or employees) is going to need access to the form. Restricting permissions will stop members of the public from being able to access the form. Symbols or strings which could be used maliciously or cause the website to act incorrectly (such as the script tag) should be filtered out or html encoded. Captcha images can be used to prevent automated systems from filling in and submitting the form. There are some hacks for file uploads - such as using double extensions - which can allow hackers to upload malicious files. Databases (this is nowhere near done yet but the sections I have planned are listed below) SQL statements vs stored procedures Throwing an error when one of the variables contains particular characters or groups of characters (I cant remember what characters they are, but I have seen a message thrown back at me before where I have tried to enter html or something into a text area). SQL Injection - and ways around it, with some examples. Does anyone have any hints and tips on where I could go for some decent, reliable information either about these areas or about other areas of security that I could cover? Thanks in advance. Do I need to copy the contents of my mdf to the main SQL Server engine of my host? Is there a way to use the non-SQLExpress engine of my host and still keep my mdf in my App_Data?

  • How are you using IronPython?

    I'm keen to drink some modern dynamic language koolaid, so I've believed all the stuff on Michael Foord's blog and podcasts, I've bought his book (and read some of it), and I added an embedded IPy runtime to a large existing app a year or so ago (though that was for someone else and I didn't really use it myself). Now I need to do some fairly simple code generation stuff, where I'm going to call a few methods on a few .net objects (custom, C#-authored objects), create a few strings, write some files, etc. The experience of trying this leaves me feeling like the little boy who thinks he's the only one who can see that The Emperor has no clothes on. If you're using IronPython, I'd really appreciate knowing how you deal with the following aspects of it: Code editing - do you use the .NET framework without Intellisense? Refactoring - I know a load of 'refactoring' is about working around language-related busywork, so if Python is sufficiently lightweight then we won't need that, But things like renames seem to me to be essential to iteratively developing quality code regardless of language. Crippling startup time - One of the things which is supposed to be good about interpreted languages is the lack of compile time leading to fast interactive development. Unfortunately I can compile a C# application and launch it quicker than IPy can start up. Interactive hacking - the IPy console/repl is supposed to be good for this, but I haven't found a good way to take the code you've interactively arrived at and persist it into a file - cut and paste from the console is fairly miserable. And the console seems to hold references to .NET assemblies you've imported, so you have to quit it and restart it if you're working on the C# stuff as well. Hacking on C# in something like LinqPad seems a much faster and easier way to try things out (and has proper Intellisense). Do you use the console? Debugging - what's the story here? I know someone on the IPy team is working on a command-line hobby-project, but let's just say I'm not immediately attracted to a command line debugger. I don't really need a debugger from little Python scripts, but I would if I were to use IPy for scripting unit tests, for example. Unit testing - I can see that dynamic languages could be great for this, but is there any IDE test-runner integration (like for Resharper, etc). The Foord book has a chapter about this, which I'll admit I have not yet read properly, but it does seem to involve driving a console-mode test-runner from the command prompt, which feels to be an enormous step back from using an integrated test runner like TestDriven.net or Resharper. I really want to believe in this stuff, so I am still working on the assumption that I've missed something. I would really like to know how other people are dealing with IPy, particularly if they're doing it in a way which doesn't feel like we've just lost 15 years'-worth of tool development.

  • Default MVC Web Application Database

    When setting up a new ASP.NET MVC Web Application, the default connection string inside Web.Config is something like this: connectionString="data source=.\SQLEXPRESS;Integrated Security=SSPI;AttachDBFilename=|DataDirectory|aspnetdb.mdf;User Instance=true" I'm just wanting to play around with logging in and registering, etc but when I run the app it obviously can't find a SQL database. What database with what tables do I need to setup to do this? I have SQL Server 2005 Standard installed on my system, is that enough? Thanks.

  • TV video constantly skips 1/2 second, plays 1 second; green on bottom

    I just got DirecTV. It worked for a day, but now the TV video constantly skips 1/2 second, then plays 1 second. Also, the bottom 5th of the screen is solid green. The audio does not skip. I tried to do "Set up TV signal" (in Media Center) - but I get an error. See the post I just made here titled "Error - “IR Hardware not detected” - but it’s installed/working." Thanks for your help.

  • Setting Background of a Jbutton

    Hello there, I have 5 JButtons: b1, b2, b3, b4, b5. By default, their color is gray. When I click on any button, the background of that button changes to white. When I click another button, I want that previous clicked button to change its background to gray, and this newly clicked button to change its background to white.   • Can't ssh to ec2 permission denied (publickey)

    I have existing instances running and I can connect to them fine. Even if I start a new instance from one of my saved ami's I can connect to it fine but any new public or community ami (I've tried 2 offical Ubuntu ami's and 1 Fedora quickstart ami) I get permission denied (publickey). The permissions are good on my key file. I've also tried creating a new keyfile. My ec2 firewall rules are good, I've also tried creating a new group. I need 3 actions. 1) When user click in textarea i want display DIV what will contain preview, i want animate opening. 2) When user typing, i want dynamical load parsed by PHP code to DIV. (i'm still thinking what will be best option... refresh every 2 seconds, or maybe we can detect and refresh after 1 second of inactivity [stop typing]) 3) When user click outside textarea i want close preview div with animation. For example the PHP parser will have patch /api/parser.php and variable by POST called $_POST['message']. Any idea my digital friends ?

  • .htaccess rewriting rule

    I have a folder within a site that is a seperate web app than the parent. Both are working fine, but when I go to the domain.com/folder/ path, I would like it to forward me to domain.com/folder/index.htm for consistency. This is the htaccess rule I was trying, but it wasn't working for me and I am not sure what I did wrong. RewriteRule ^folder/$ folder/index.htm RewriteRule ^folder$ folder/index.htm I tried these rules at the start and end of the rule list to see if anything was overriding and nothing appears to be.
