  • Does a wrapper class for a COM interop IStream already exist?

    - by AnthonyWJones
I'm about to write a Wrapper for a COM interop IStream so that code that expects a standard .NET Stream can use it. However it occurs to me that this sort of thing may already have been done before (although I haven't been able to find it myself with web searching). So I'm just putting this out here in case I'm about to re-invent the wheel. Note I've come across code implementing IStream wrapping a .NET stream but I need the reverse.

  • iPhone SDK Smaller CAF files: lower recording quality with Audio Queues?

    - by Nick
In my iPhone app I have voice recording functionality the utilizes Audio Queue voice recording functions of the SDK. I'm saving directly to CAF format and using the following settings for the AudioStreamBasicDescription reference: audioFormat.mFormatID = kAudioFormatLinearPCM; I can see that there are other format ids I could use like: kAudioFormatLinearPCM kAudioFormatAppleLossless kAudioFormatAppleIMA4 kAudioFormatiLBC kAudioFormatULaw kAudioFormatALaw My knowledge of sound formats is very limited so my question is... which of these should I use to create the lowest compressed audio recording files? Plus, are there other settings I should apply to lower the quality and filesize even further?

  • Detect if Visual Studio Test is running

    - by RTigger
Is there an easy way to detect if you're running in the context of a Visual Studio Test as opposed to debug or release? Here's the scenario - we have a factory class that we use heavily throughout our existing codebase, and I figured instead of refactoring it out in each class so we can substitute the default factory with one that would return mock/fake objects, I could add something in the factory class itself to return those mock objects if it detects it's running in "test" mode.

  • sql median value of column

Is there a way in sql (or tsql) to select the median of a column of numbers? I know you can sort by the column and pick the middle value, but it would be nice if there was a built-in function

  • How is the iPad going to be classified - as a mobile platform or a desktop platform?

    - by Tony Eichelberger
I sometimes use the following site to look at browser and OS trends http://gs.statcounter.com/. It got me thinking about how the iPad is going to be classified, as a mobile platform or a desktop platform, or is it going to spark a new category. Since it runs iPhone OS, it could be considered a mobile device, but I have a hard time with that because of the screen size. What should iPad be classified as: Mobile, Desktop, or Other (Try to come up with a good name for Other)?

  • Is it a good idea to keep all the enums in one place?

    - by kzen
When I'm building a class library I usually create a file Enums.cs to hold all the enums used in the assembly. Here is an example: namespace MyNamespace { public enum Colors { Red, Green, Blue } public enum Shapes { Circle, Square, Triangle } } This makes all my enums easy to find, well organized and easy to access in code. I'm wondering if there is any reason why this would not be such a good idea?

  • check item in popupmenu

    - by alex-gu
i call popumemu(list of checkboxes in another program) using code like: PostMessage(Wnd,WM_RBUTTONDOWN,0,0x0); PostMessage(Wnd,WM_RBUTTONUP,0,0x0); and i can get the HWND of popupmenu window how to check(uncheck) item at certain item? without sending code SendMessage( TMP,WM_KEYDOWN, VK_DOWN, 0); SendMessage( TMP,WM_KEYUP, VK_DOWN, 0); SendMessage( TMP,WM_KEYDOWN, VK_RETURN, 0); SendMessage( TMP,WM_KEYUP, VK_RETURN, 0); or there is another way to call popupmenu and check its item?

  • How do I redirect output from the Visual Studio debugger?

    - by jeatsy
In Visual Studio 2008, I can specify a message to be printed when a breakpoint is hit (by right-clicking the breakpoint and choosing 'When Hit...'). When the program is run, these messages appear in the Output Window. I would like to know, is there any way to redirect them to a file? Specifying file.txt as a command argument to the program does not work: this redirects the program's output, but not the debugger's. (FWIW the behaviour I wish to achieve is to get the debugger to repeatedly print a variable's value to a file, rather than peppering my code with printf/cout statements.)

  • Best way to get started with Facebook and Ruby on Rails

    - by TMB
I'm looking to develop my first Facebook application and therefore looking for some advice on where to get started. I've spent a few hours browsing Facebook's Developer Wiki, Facebooker library, looking at the sample chapters in "Developing Facebook Applications with Rails" by Pragmatic Programmers, etc. Since FB is constantly changing their API, and Facebook Connect is newer than the aforementioned book, does anyone have any advice on where to get started?

  • Login in via curl then open that page logged in

    - by user207022
    I'm trying the following code to send post data to the login form, then reload that page in the browser as a logged in user. somehow it's not saving the cookie, and reusing it for the header() function, can the same thing as header be done by calling curl again after sending the login details? .. $ch = curl_init(); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, $url); $ch = curl_init(); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL,$url); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_FOLLOWLOCATION,true); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, true); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_HEADER, true); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_TIMEOUT, 60); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYPEER , false ); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYHOST , false ); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_USERAGENT, $defined_vars['HTTP_USER_AGENT']); //curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_COOKIEJAR, $cookie); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_COOKIEFILE, $cookie); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_MAXREDIRS, 1); // Apply the XML to our curl call curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POST, 1); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS, $data); $data = curl_exec($ch); setcookie($cookie); header('location: ' . $url); die();

  • Log4Perl - how to set exit code if any WARN, ERROR, or FATAL messages?

    - by pdxrlk
Hi - I've been using Log4Perl extensively in a number of scripts. I'd like to augment those scripts to set an error code if any WARN or ERROR messages have been logged. I couldn't find any obvious way to do this based on existing documentation. I'd like to avoid a brute-force rewrite of my existing scripts to add a check on every WARN or ERROR log message; I'd prefer to handle it prior to script exit if possible like this pseudocode: if $log->has_warnings_or_errors then exit 1 else exit 0 Is there any easy way to call Log4Perl to determine if the current logger has issues messages of certain levels? Thanks.
