  • Compiling C++ when two classes references one another

    I am trying to write a simple wrapper around a connection pointer that will return it to the pool when the wrapper is destroyed. but it wont compile because the ConnectionPool and AutoConn need each other to be declared. I tried to use forward deceleration but it didn't work. how do I solve this?   • Basic help needed with pointers (double indirection)

    Hi, i asked some time ago on an account i cant remember how to manipulate basic pointers and someone gave me a really good demo for example char *ptr = "hello" (hello = a char array) so now *ptr is pointing at h ptr++ = moves the ptr to point at the next element, to get its value i do *ptr and that gives me e ok so far i hope :D but now i need to manipulate a char **ptr and was wondering how I do this in a way that mimmicks the effects of a 2d array? some basic tips would be much appreciated as I need to do an assignment that has a **ptr to imitate a 2d array and without knowing how it does this first means I cant even solve it on paper (for example, how do you dereference a **ptr, how do you get [x][y] values etc) thanks

  • Is Microsoft's Ribbon UI really that great, from a usability perspective?

    The first time I ever used it was at my current job. Among my coworkers, the feelings toward it for usability are mixed. The other developer doesn't really care one way or the other, as long as Office does everything he needs it to do when writing reports. The top manager likes it because it feels natural, and I feel the same way. But another coworker finds in klunky and hard to use (although she admits that she only uses it at home as her machine hasn't been upgraded yet, and that might change if she uses it more often at work). So - is the Ribbon UI really that innovative? What qualities about it make it a good or bad user interface mechanism? Possibly related: Adoption of the Ribbon UI

  • Linq - reuse expression on child property

    Not sure if what I am trying is possible or not, but I'd like to reuse a linq expression on an objects parent property. With the given classes: class Parent { int Id { get; set; } IList<Child> Children { get; set; } string Name { get; set; } } class Child{ int Id { get; set; } Parent Dad { get; set; } string Name { get; set; } } If i then have a helper Expression<Func<Parent,bool> ParentQuery() { Expression<Func<Parent,bool> q = p => p.Name=="foo"; } I then want to use this when querying data out for a child, along the lines of: using(var context=new Entities.Context) { var data=context.Child.Where(c => c.Name=="bar" && c.Dad.Where(ParentQuery)); } I know I can do that on child collections: using(var context=new Entities.Context) { var data=context.Parent.Where(p => p.Name=="foo" && p.Childen.Where(childQuery)); } but cant see any way to do this on a property that isnt a collection. This is just a simplified example, actually the ParentQuery will be more complex and I want to avoid having this repeated in multiple places as rather than just having 2 layers I'll have closer to 5 or 6, but all of them will need to reference the parent query to ensure security.

Is this the best way to go about this (Single project) or should I have a child project which is built from the parent project? I am building this using Maven2 inside Eclipse.     my primay key is user_id which is auto incremant UNSIGNED ZERO FILL, i want to display user_id on a page without leading Zero( means 1 instead of 0000000001 ).. how can we do that in php or in mysql one more question... if i delete last record( let user_id=21) wwhich have highest id of that table then can we adjust auto increment value to 21 instead of 22 of that table.

    I'm developing a web application that shows some controls and descriptions dinamically (I don't want to use jQuery or other libraries). At this moment i make appear and disappear controls using: element.setAttribute("style", "inline"); and element.setAttribute("style", "none"); but i'm thinking about using: element.appendChild(childRef); and element.removeChild(childRef); So, which one is the best solution in terms of system speed and elegance of the code? (and of course, are there better solution?)

    Hi community! I have an ArrayCollection of objects. I'm passing this array to a horizontallist as a dataprovider and I'm using a custom itemRenderer. When executing the application, the horizontallist is displaying [object CustomClass][object CustomClass][object CustomClass][object CustomClass] I've tried casting each object in the itemrenderer as following: <mx:Label text="{(data as CustomClass).label1}"/> But it's not working...   • Streaming large result sets with MySQL

    I'm developing a spring application that uses large MySQL tables. When loading large tables, I get an OutOfMemoryException, since the driver tries to load the entire table into application memory. I tried using statement.setFetchSize(Integer.MIN_VALUE); but then every ResultSet I open hangs on close(); looking online I found that that happens because it tries loading any unread rows before closing the ResultSet, but that is not the case since I do this: ResultSet existingRecords = getTableData(tablename); try { while (existingRecords.next()) { // ... } } finally { existingRecords.close(); // this line is hanging, and there was no exception in the try clause } The hangs happen for small tables (3 rows) as well, and if I don't close the RecordSet (which happened in one method) then connection.close() hangs.

  • Can we find out the difference between 2 RGb colors to find out a 3rd color?

    2 colors are mixed together. If i have the RGB for the resultant color and RGB for one of the colors mixed, then somehow i could calculate the 2nd color? I will try to explain visually what i am trying to say.
