  • LINQ count query returns a 1 instead of a 0

    I have the following view:- CREATE VIEW tbl_adjudicator_result_view AS SELECT a.adjudicator_id, sar.section_adjudicator_role_id, s.section_id, sdr.section_dance_role_id, d.dance_id, c.contact_id, ro.round_id, r.result_id, c.title, c.first_name, c.last_name, d.name, r.value, ro.type FROM tbl_adjudicator a INNER JOIN tbl_section_adjudicator_role sar on sar.section_adjudicator_role2adjudicator = a.adjudicator_id INNER JOIN tbl_section s on sar.section_adjudicator_role2section = s.section_id INNER JOIN tbl_section_dance_role sdr on sdr.section_dance_role2section = s.section_id INNER JOIN tbl_dance d on sdr.section_dance_role2dance = d.dance_id INNER JOIN tbl_contact c on a.adjudicator2contact = c.contact_id INNER JOIN tbl_round ro on ro.round2section = s.section_id LEFT OUTER JOIN tbl_result r on r.result2adjudicator = a.adjudicator_id AND r.result2dance = d.dance_id When I run the following query directly against the db I get 0 in the count column where there is no result select adjudicator_id, first_name, COUNT(result_id) from tbl_adjudicator_result_view arv where arv.round_id = 16 group by adjudicator_id, first_name However when I use LINQ query I always get 1 in the Count Column var query = from arv in db.AdjudicatorResultViews where arv.round_id == id group arv by new { arv.adjudicator_id, arv.first_name} into grp select new AdjudicatorResultViewGroupedByDance { AdjudicatorId = grp.Key.adjudicator_id, FirstName = grp.Key.first_name, Count = grp.Select(p => p.result_id).Distinct().Count() }; What do I need to change in the View / Linq query.

  • How to get an object from a list based upon IEqualityComparer<T>

    The Compare method in Linq lets you find by an IEqualityComparer, but I can't find a counterpart method that allows you retrieve an item by the same comparer. Is this really the best way to do it? So then sections are going default Colleapse again. I need them back to expand.   • Prototype to JQuery - how to access originator of event

    Hi there I'm coming from a Prototype background and looking into JQuery. I'd like to know the 'right' way to do attach a click event to a bunch of elements, but then know in the event handler which one of my elements was clicked. I've come up with the following: MYNS.CarouselHelper.prototype.attachImgHandlers = function () { $j(".carouselItem").bind("click", this, function(e){ e.data.openCarouselImage(e) }); } I then have the following in my event handler: MYNS.CarouselHelper.prototype.openCarouselImage = function(e) { var img = e.currentTarget; // Do stuff to the image element }; Is this 'right'? It feels wrong to me as I am used to explicitly passing the element to the event handler in Prototype as I loop through an array of elements. Thanks in advance.

  • Problem with Google AJAX Search API RESTful interface

    When I send the following query http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/services/search/local?v=1.0&q=coffee%20New%20York%20NY using c# WebClient.DownloadString function or ordinary web browser I get JSON data which is different from data for the same query using JavaScript and Google AJAX Search API. From REST service I get the following url field http://www.google.com/maps/place?source003duds0026q003dcoffee0026cid003d13245583795745066822 but from JavaScript query I get this url field http://www.google.com/maps/place?source=uds&q=coffee&cid=13245583795745066822 The problem with REST service answer is that the url it gives points to a web page with error message "We currently do not support the location". What am I doing wrong?

    Three questions about reserved words: Are there any reserved words in SQLite? If so, what are they? If there are reserved words, is the correct syntax for using one of them as a column or table name still to surround it with brackets? E.g., [User] or [Name]? Are there any implications with using words that are reserved in other flavors of SQL (e.g., SQLServer) but not reserved in SQLite when using ADO.NET to query a SQLite database?

  • Rails nested attributes with a join model, where one of the models being joined is a new record

    I'm trying to build a grid, in rails, for entering data. It has rows and columns, and rows and columns are joined by cells. In my view, I need for the grid to be able to handle having 'new' rows and columns on the edge, so that if you type in them and then submit, they are automatically generated, and their shared cells are connected to them correctly. I want to be able to do this without JS. Rails nested attributes fail to handle being mapped to both a new record and a new column, they can only do one or the other. The reason is that they are a nested specifically in one of the two models, and whichever one they aren't nested in will have no id (since it doesn't exist yet), and when pushed through accepts_nested_attributes_for on the top level Grid model, they will only be bound to the new object created for whatever they were nested in. How can I handle this? Do I have to override rails handling of nested attributes?   • Random numbers from binomial distribution

    I need to generate quickly lots of random numbers from binomial distributions for dramatically different trial sizes (most, however, will be small). I was hoping not to have to code an algorithm by hand (see, e.g., this related discussion from November), because I'm a novice programmer and don't like reinventing wheels. It appears Boost does not supply a generator for binomially distributed variates, but TR1 and GSL do. Is there a good reason to choose one over the other, or is it better that I write something customized to my situation? I don't know if this makes sense, but I'll alternate between generating numbers from uniform distributions and binomial distributions throughout the program, and I'd like for them to share the same seed and to minimize overhead. I'd love some advice or examples for what I should be considering.

  • How do I configure dual WAN links for failover on a Cisco 891?

    I have a Cisco 891 that is going to be connected to 2 WAN links, a DSL connection and a cable connection. I'm not so concerned with load balancing between them because the DSL connection speed is a drop in the bucket when compared to the cable speed though it would be nice if it worked that way. I mainly just want to force all traffic through the cable WAN link unless it goes down. I'm not really sure what feature set I should be researching.

  • Implementing Variable Envelope Return Path (VERP) using Exchange

    We're looking into implementing Variable Envelope Return Path (VERP) for improved bounce processing for our application. Our current mail infrastructure is MS Exchange 2007 but are in the process of upgrading to 2010. We're also implementing Postini for spam filtering. Exchange doesn't support sub-addressing (see also this question on disposable addresses) -- and VERP is somewhat of a specialized application of sub-addressing. Are there any options for implementing VERP in Exchange without putting another non-Exchange SMTP relay in front of Exchange to pre-process incoming messages? Specifically could a transport rule be created that could match against the target (non-existing) recipient, store that recipient address in a special header added to the message, and redirect the message to a pre-created mailbox? Note: we have developer resources available if custom code could be used somehow.

  • linux shell, keep task alive for specified time

    Hello, I am looking for a tool to keep a task alive (restarting if necessary) for a specified amount of time (in seconds), and then kill it and stop. For example: keep_for 3600 rsync foo bar:faz should for try to synchronize a directory (restarting rsync in case of f.e. dropped connection), but explicitly kill rsync and stop respawning it after an hour. I tried to write a shell script for that, but it was surprisingly difficult to write, with lots of edge cases (like child process not getting killed, or shell escaping issues). So... maybe there already is a tool for that?
