  • Running PowerShell from MSdeploy runcommand does not exit

    - by Peter Moberg
Im am trying to get MSDeploy to execute a PowerShell script on a remote server. This is how i execute MSDeploy: msdeploy \ -verb:sync \ -source:runCommand='C:\temp\HelloWorld.bat', \ waitInterval=15000,waitAttempts=1 \ -dest:auto,computername=$WebDeployService$Credentials -verbose HelloWorld.bat contains: echo "Hello world!" powershell.exe C:\temp\WebDeploy\Package\HelloWorld.ps1 echo "Done" The HelloWorld.ps1 only contains: Write-Host "Hello world from PowerShell!" However, it seems like PowerShell never terminates. This is the output from running the msdeploy: Verbose: Performing synchronization pass #1. Verbose: Source runCommand (C:\temp\HelloWorld.bat) does not match destination (C:\temp\HelloWorld.bat) differing in attributes (isSource['True','False']). Update pending. Info: Updating runCommand (C:\temp\HelloWorld.bat). Info: Info: C:\temp>echo "Hello world!" "Hello world!" C:\temp\WebDeploy>powershell.exe C:\temp\HelloWorld.ps1 Info: Hello world from Powershell! Info: Warning: The process 'C:\Windows\system32\cmd.exe' (command line '/c "C:\Users\peter\AppData\Local\Temp\gaskgh55.b2q.bat "') is still running. Waiting for 15000 ms (attempt 1 of 1). Error: The process 'C:\Windows\system32\cmd.exe' (command line '/c "C:\Users\peter\AppData\Local\Temp\gaskgh55.b2q.bat"' ) was terminated because it exceeded the wait time. Error count: 1. Anyone knows a solution?

  • Postfix tutorial inconsistency

    - by Desmond Hume
I'm following this tutorial to setup a Postfix/Dovecot mail server with Postfix Admin as a web front end. As regards directory structure for virtual mail users, the author of the tutorial writes: Virtual mail users are those that do not exist as Unix system users. They thus don't use the standard Unix methods of authentication or mail delivery and don't have home directories. That is how we are managing things here: mail users are defined in the database created by Postfix Admin rather than existing as system users. Mail will be kept in subfolders per domain and account under /var/vmail - e.g. [email protected] will have a mail directory of /var/vmail/example.com/me. But when he gives instructions about configuring Postfix Admin, he suggests this to be contained by Postfix Admin's config.inc.php: // Mailboxes // If you want to store the mailboxes per domain set this to 'YES'. // Examples: // YES: /usr/local/virtual/domain.tld/[email protected] // NO: /usr/local/virtual/[email protected] $CONF['domain_path'] = 'NO'; Is there an inconsistency?

  • How to deploy new instances of the same application (on 1 server) automatically?

    - by Intru
I'm working on a SaaS application where each customer runs its own version of the application. All the application instances currently run on a single server. This works quite well for us (we need less resources in total). The application doesn't use a lot of resources, so even a small VPS would be overkill (and more expensive). Adding a new customer is currently quite a bit of work: Create a user that is allowed to ssh Create a new MySQL database and user Create a virtual host for the application Log in with the new user, do a git checkout of the application (in the right location) Create tables in the new database, and add some init data Add some cron jobs Create a first user that can log in Add this new instance to capistrano What would be the best way to automate these tasks? Are the applications that can (given proper configuration) do this? Ideally this should be usable for a sales-person (so something web-based). I could write a (bash) script that does most of these tasks, and then maybe add a small web-based wrapper where someone could provider the domain/default user information. Of course, this would also require a delete-script, since some customers will eventually leave, which means that you need a list of all existing customers/instances.

  • Images not accessible in localhost using wamp in windows 7 [closed]

    - by Am poru
I Installed wamp in windows 7 pro, and copied a joomla live site. Everything seems working well except that it doesn't load the images on the page. Even when I try to access in directly: localhost/logo.png Im getting an 403 Forbidden: Forbidden You don't have permission to access /logo.png on this server. Solutions I have tried are: 1. Using icacls to grant priviledge 2. manually set the permission by right clicking the image and editing the security. php, html and other files are loading in the browser, but not images. Please help.

  • No Data Received

    - by Ben Moore
Out of the blue, around 40% of my website's community can no longer visit, saying they're getting "No Data Received" errors. We've taken our firewall offline, tried going through systems such as Cloudflare and checked our .htaccess to no avail. I've asked affected users to traceroute but the weird thing is it looks like it's being stopped at ISP level. Can anyone suggest other things that may be causing this error?

  • what is the purpose of the files in this directory: /var/lib/apt/lists?

    - by Magpie
linux lubuntu HD4000 intel ivy-bridge 8gb 1600 ram. I am getting a duplicate entry error message from synaptic package manager and it says the problem is there. I am wondering a few things: What this directory is. Whether it safe to simply delete the offending duplicates from there. Whether this is a useful new discovery... Is this where all the packages I have no use for end up and something I can edit to suit my fancy in the long run? It would be nice to be able to reduce the clutter in my package manager. Especially find a way to get rid of all the 32 bit stuff or older versions of programs I have downloaded manually elsewhere. I had meant to post this in linux! So if this is wrong place let me know and I will move it there!

  • How should I configure backup of my server?

    - by ed209
I have just rented a dedicated server. If it helps this is the config I have: CPU1 Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600 CPU @ 3.40GHz (Cores 8) RAM 15975 MB Disk /dev/sda doesn't contain a valid partition table (=> /dev/sda doesn't) Disk /dev/sdc doesn't contain a valid partition table (=> /dev/sdc doesn't) Disk /dev/sdb doesn't contain a valid partition table (=> /dev/sdb doesn't) Disk /dev/sda: 120.0 GB (=> 114 GIB) Disk /dev/sdc: 3000.6 GB (=> 2861 GIB) Disk /dev/sdb: 3000.6 GB (=> 2861 GIB) /dev/sda is a 120GB SSD. This is where I have Ubuntu/lamp installed. It's the drive that will run my site. With the account I got two other drives of 3000GB each which I really don't need but they came with the account. I figured I could use these to back up my main 120gb drive. So a couple of things I wondered were: Should I use these for backups? How should I back up. The data I want to back up is a user uploads directory full of images and the database. Everything else is either in a code repo or backed up some other way. For example, it would be nice to know there is a disk image of the 120gb drive somewhere that I can copy over should there be any problems but equally I don't mind doing a fresh install of all the software and copying over just the images and database dump. Thanks for your advice! (also, happy to not use the two other drives and backup elsewhere if it's more sensible)

  • mutt, smime, decrypt with one of two different keys

    - by munin
This is an odd one. We want to have an encrypted e-mail list. There are a few ways to do this, but in the interim what we've done is created a public/private keypair via openssl for our e-mail list ([email protected]) and then distributed the public/private keypair amongst the list participants (ugh). When someone posts to the list, they encrypt using the lists public key, and everyone has the private key (ugh) so it 'works'. MUAs like Outlook and Thunderbird work with this setup. Mutt has a problem though - it seems to only decrypt a SMIME message with a private key that is specified by your e-mail. So when someone sends an e-mail to the list e-mail, my MUA won't decrypt it. How can I tell Mutt about this second private key?

  • getaddrinfo: command not found

    - by jebbie
I've installed a new Ubuntu 12.04 on an AWS EC2 instance and everything worked fine till now. I followed the instructions in this great tutorial: http://www.exratione.com/2012/05/a-mailserver-on-ubuntu-1204-postfix-dovecot-mysql/ Now i'm on the point "installing monit" and when i restart the service i get this error message now: monit: Cannot translate '(none)' to FQDN name -- Name or service not known I started googling and someone is writing there, that monit uses getaddrinfo in his startup-process to determine the hostname. Ok, so i thought i try out on myself what is getaddrinfo delivering, and then i got: getaddrinfo: command not found I guess, something is missing on my system. Can anyone help?

  • How exactly are Distributed File Systems used in cloud environment?

    - by vaab
How exactly are Distributed File Systems used in cloud environment ? More precisely: Are live VMs images (or their filesystem) usually located in the DFS ? Are VMs usually used to run the backbone (actual code) of DFS structure ? Precise example citing DFS (ceph, Gluster, GFS, GPFS, Lustre) or cloud environment (Openstack , CloudStack, ...) would be appreciated, even if I'm more interessted by ceph on OpenStack for now.

  • Rsync: remote source and destination

    - by goncalopp
If both source and destination are remote, rsync complains: The source and destination cannot both be remote. rsync error: syntax or usage error (code 1) at main.c(1156) [Receiver=3.0.7] Is there a insurmountable technical obstacle to making rsync do this? Or it's simply a case of it's-not-yet-implemented? It seems relatively easy to create a local buffer in memory that mediates the transfer between two remotes, holding both hashes and data. Conversely, is there other (unix) software that implements this functionality?

  • Is ceph usable with only 100Mbps bandwidth between nodes?

    - by vaab
I haven't great hardware, but my requirements are low, I would like to start using ceph so as to abstract filesystem location and allow potential easy scaling to bigger hardware in an hypothetical future. My actual hardware meets ceph hardware requirements except the ethernet bandwidth part between the hosts. Mine is 100 Mbit/s which is much lower than the 1Gbps expected in ceph, even from the minimal requirement. Will I be able to use ceph in a very small smili-prod environnement (with limited number of clients) ? FYI: My hardware is 2 or maybe 3 hosts having each 4 core Intel, 24Go RAM, 2x2To disks but 100Mpbs between them.

  • Remove Duplicate Messages from Maildir

    - by Joseph Holsten
I've got a bunch of duplicate messages in my IMAP server's Maildir. What's the best way to remove them? Some relevant points: Shared Message-ID is usually a good enough definition of duplicate. A tiny script that removes all but one of the duplicate messages would work. Sometimes it's necessary to find duplicates based on shared message bodies. What's a reasonable definition of shared here? Bitwise equivalent? What about weird differences in line wrapping, escaping, character encoding? Sometimes there's some meaningful difference between 'duplicate' messages. What's the best way to review the differences in sets of 'duplicate' messages? Diffs?

  • How can I install Satchmo?

    - by Jonathan Hayward
I am trying to install Satchmo 0.9 on an Ubuntu 9.10 32-bit guest off of the instructions at http://bitbucket.org/chris1610/satchmo/downloads/Satchmo.pdf. I run into difficulties at 2.1.2: pip install -r http://bitbucket.org/chris1610/satchmo/raw/tip/scripts/requirements.txt pip install -e hg+http://bitbucket.org/chris1610/satchmo/@v0.9#egg=satchmo The first command fails because a compile error for how it's trying to build PIL. So I ran an "aptitude install python-imaging", locally copy the first line's requirements.text, and remove the line that's unsuccessfully trying to build PIL. The first line completes without reported error, as does the second. The next step tells me to change directory to the /path/to/new/store, and run: python clonesatchmo.py A little bit of trouble here; I am told that clonesatchmo.py will be in /bin by now, and it isn't there, but I put some Satchmo stuff under /usr/local, create a symlink in /bin, and run: python /bin/clonesatchmo.py This gives: jonathan@ubuntu:~/store$ python /bin/clonesatchmo.py Creating the Satchmo Application Traceback (most recent call last): File "/bin/clonesatchmo.py", line 108, in <module> create_satchmo_site(opts.site_name) File "/bin/clonesatchmo.py", line 47, in create_satchmo_site import satchmo_skeleton ImportError: No module named satchmo_skeleton A find after apparently checking out the repository reveals that there is no file with a name like satchmo*skeleton* on my system. I thought that bash might be prone to take part of the second pip invocation's URL as the beginning of a comment; I tried both: pip install -e hg+http://bitbucket.org/chris1610/satchmo/@v0.9\#egg=satchmo pip install -e hg+http://bitbucket.org/chris1610/satchmo/@v0.9#egg=satchmo Neither way of doing it seems to take care of the import error mentioned above. How can I get a Satchmo installation under Ubuntu, or at least enough of a Satchmo installation that I am able to start with a skeleton of a store and then flesh it out the way I want? Thanks, Jonathan

  • Organizing files relationally in Windows 7?

    - by Cayetano Gonçalves
I just took a new job as a policy analyst, and after even one week keeping track of hundreds of files- lawsuits, legislation, letters, etc- in Windows 7 is proving difficult. In my last job I was a database architect and I helped build Linux based servers to track files among an entire department, however there is no way for me to do that at this time in this job. Is there any way to track files/indices/locations/tags/themes and store them in some kind of RDBMS system, instead of storing the files in folders that only allow for flat and fixed storage? For example, if I have a file that deals with: ELID organization Appeals court John Smith It really is inconvenient to have to decide which one of these tags to create into a folder and place the file into it, when it falls under all the categories. Even if I could place tags the way you can in Stack Exchange on files, it would solve a lot of heart ache.

  • Windows 8 - Ubuntu dual boot

    - by Serkan Özkan
I bought a new Toshiba s855 notebook with windows 8 preinstalled. Secure boot feature was enabled by default. I installed latest version of ubuntu after disabling secure boot feature(it was not possible to install ubuntu without disabling secure boot). But now when I enable secure boot, the system automatically boots into windows 8, and it boots into ubuntu when I disable secure boot. EasyBCD lists the following boot entries but I can only see Windows 8 in boot menu: Default: Windows 8 Timeout: 7 seconds EasyBCD Boot Device: C:\ Entry #1 Name: Ubuntu BCD ID: {971641cd-304a-11e2-be82-806e6f6e6963} Device: \Device\HarddiskVolume2 Bootloader Path: \EFI\ubuntu\grubx64.efi ... Entry #5 Name: Windows 8 BCD ID: {current} Drive: C:\ Bootloader Path: \windows\system32\winload.efi Any recommendations will be appreciated.

  • GRUB2 UEFI booting from LVM on RAID (with XEN)

    - by pavian
I'm experimenting with booting root fs from LVM volume inside the raid (mdraid superblock 1.x) via UEFI with GRUB2. Also I'm using Xen hypervisor. From grub command line I can see my lvm volume (ls command) but I got kernel panic due to "unable to mount root fs". I saw a note in this article telling it's probably impossible to boot root fs from raid via UEFI, but I don't understand the reason why not. Is it possible to boot linux with this configuration without the initramfs (which I don't won't to use)?

  • Dialog boxes font is missing in Windows 7

    - by forgetso
About 3 years ago I messed up my laptop with some virus removal software. It's obviously changed the registry settings and the text in dialogue boxes in the control panel, run box, etc. is the wrong size. See image:http://i.stack.imgur.com/SlFFU.jpg I've tried changing the MS Shell Dlg registry values to different fonts and restarting. I've made sure that I have the fonts SSERIFE.FON and SERIFE.FON on my system and that they are correctly referenced in the registry. Does anyone know how to fix this? I'd like to be able to see all of the options in the dialog boxes! Cheers

  • Connecting both WAN and LAN ports to the same hub

    - by C. Lee
For some reason I wish to connect the WAN port and the LAN port on a router to the same hub and make the hub is connected to both networks, the Internet and a private network. Below is a diagram of the network configuration I'd like to build. I tried this and it didn't work as expected. PC 1 has no problem, but PC 2 cannot connect to the Internet. When I ping 192.168.0.1 from PC 2, all packets are lost. It works well when PC 2 is connected directly to the router. What's the problem with the network configuration above?

  • How to activate Windows 8 Pro license with Releae Preview installed?

    - by Antonio
So I'm one of the many who downloaded the Release Preview (64-bit). I now got the ISO to install Windows 8 Professional (64-bit) and a product key (note: I didn't get these from either Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant or Microsoft's web Store), everything legal. However, the Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant only gives me the option to Store my personal files which means that I'll have to say goodbye to both my Program Files and their respective configurations. I just want to input the Product Key and activate the license, why isn't this possible? Even "Add Features to Windows 8" doesn't accept the key. Do I really need to backup all of my stuff and make a clean install?

  • Server side version of 'receipients address' rule in Outlook

    - by lethalMango
I currently have a variety of folders on Outlook 2010 which connects to my works Exchange server. I have all the emails received from clients added to the correct folder, what I want to do is make any emails in the recipient address (i.e. I've been cc'ed in to an email sent from another user) to be also moved. Is it possible to achieve this server side opposed to using the "with @domain.com in the recipients address" rule which is client side only?

  • are blue ray disks the cheapest storage medium per Gb?

    - by oshirowanen
The question is as simple as that really. Are bluray disks the cheapest storage medium per gb? I am recording video which is using about 32gb per day. So a month of that would be almost 1Tb. A year around 12tb. I want to store at last a years worth with the possibility of more if needed. To me it seems that cheap bluray disks world be the cheapest solution. But I wanted to get this confirmed.

  • Connecting multiple access points

    - by mohsen farahanipoor
I'm working on a big project. We want to create a wireless network throughout the building with 15 floors. My idea is that we should set up one unified wireless access point at least in each floor...in case of signal attenuate, we use Access point extender/repeater. I selected DWL-6600AP from among D-Link industrial access points. I want to implement a single wireless LAN throughout the building. Is it possible to combines multiple DWL-6600 access points to achieving just a single WLAN? Can a wireless switch controller do this task? Can these Access Points interfere with each other? What is the solution? I read D-Link website's learning materials, but I am still confused. My other question is around the connecting these APs to Wireless Switch Controller - Is it possible to use power line for connecting DWL-6600 to Wireless Switch Controller device? My main goal is that clients with portable devices such as laptops should be easily connected to the network to share & have communication without any more manual configuration as they are already connected to a single network.
