  • class browsing in django

    I'd like to browse active classes in Django. I think I'd learn a lot that way. So what's a good way to do that? I could use IDLE if I knew how to start Django from within IDLE. But as I'm new to Python/Django, I'm not particularly wedded to IDLE. Other alternatives?

  • Visual Studio Code Metrics and the Maintainability index of switch case

As a person who loves to follow the best practices, If i run code metrics (right click on project name in solution explorer and select "Calculate Code Metrics" - Visual Studio 2010) on: public static string GetFormFactor(int number) { string formFactor = string.Empty; switch (number) { case 1: formFactor = "Other"; break; case 2: formFactor = "SIP"; break; case 3: formFactor = "DIP"; break; case 4: formFactor = "ZIP"; break; case 5: formFactor = "SOJ"; break; } return formFactor; } It Gives me a Maintainability index of 61 (of course this is insignificant if you have only this, but if you use an utility like class whos philosophy is doing stuff like that, your utility class will have the maintainability index much worst..) Whats the solution for this?

  • IE Hanging on jQuery code

    Here's another clichéd problem, but I couldn't find an exact match to this. I haven't posted any source here, as you can freely see all that is there on the link. :-) Statement:I have a web page at http://agrimgupta.com/antaragni/ Disclaimer: Pardon me for the pathetic coding on that page. ;-) It was done on a very short interval. Improvements will be done at a later stage. Observation: This page is functioning normally on my localhost on all browsers. Problem: IE 8 is crawling (nearly hanging) while loading this page from the website. Although it is working fine on localhost. When on the website, It fails to render the mouseover effects, doing them in almost what seems like a minute. Question: How to resolve this stuck up of IE? It is necessary to resolve this.   • C#: Replicating keyboard shortcuts in textbox, how do I prevent the beep sound caused by alt key pre

    I'm creating a routine that allows the user to replicate keyboard shortcuts into a textbox for 'custom keyboard shortcuts' customization, but everytime the alt key is pressed with another letter, it produces another sound. I'm capturing the keys in the textbox_keydown event to parse the modifiers + other keys into a readable Shift + A or Ctrl + Shift + B manner into that very same textbox. Should I be doing this in a different event like textbox_previewkey instead of textbox_keydown? How can I prevent the alt modifier key + a letter or number causing the Beep sound? the textbox is just a normal .net 3.5 textbox with the only edited properties of it being the ReadOnly property to false. Is there a better way I could re-do this? I'm currently just checking that if any modifiers keys are pressed and then + a-z or 0-9, then to go ahead and input the appropriately pressed keys into that same textbox like Shift + A or Ctrl + Shift + Y.

  • How to render Asian characters in a PDF using xhtmlrenderer

    I was wondering what steps were needed to render Asian characters using the java based xhtmlrenderer (flying saucer) library? I am wanting to render the following: <html> <body>????????</body> </html> Without any font settings being added to the HTML this renders fine in normal browsers, but I can't find anyway to render this to PDF using the iTextRenderer portion of xhtmlrenderer. After following various threads on the mailing list, I see lots of posts talking about adding .TTF files from the c:\windows\fonts directory, and I have modified the examples to run on linux ( https://gist.github.com/643173745182c9becc57 ), which shows me various fonts being displayed, but I don't see any Asian glyffs. Does anyone have any decent pointers, or clean solutions to this problem? Or am I looking at the wrong problem with a really simple solution elsewhere?

  • Is session destory not enough to clean the session

    When the user clicks a logout button, I connect to a script that simply does this session_destroy(); session_start(); I thought this would be enough to reset all $_SESSION variables such as $_SESSION['logged'] and $_SESSION['username'] but when I load the page again, it automatically logs me in as if the session is still active.

    I am trying to implement slice functionality for a class I am making that creates a vector representation. I have this code so far, which I believe will properly implement the slice but whenever I do a call like v[4] where v is a vector python returns an error about not having enough parameters. So I am trying to figure out how to define the getitem class to handle both plain indexes and slicing. def __getitem__(self, start, stop, step): indx = start if stop == None: end = start + 1 else: end = stop if step == None: stride = 1 else: stride = step return self.__data[indx:end:stride]

  • Ruby Socket Inheritance

    I'm writing a Ruby class that extends TCPSocket. Assume it looks something like this: class FooSocket < TCPSocket def hello puts 'hello' end end I have a TCPServer listening for incoming connections server = TCPServer.new 1234 socket = server.accept When my server finally accepts a connection, it will return a TCPSocket. However, I want a FooSocket so that I can call socket.hello. How can I change TCPSocket into a FooSocket? I could duck-punch the methods and attributes I want directly onto the TCPSocket class, but I'm using it elsewhere and so I don't want to do that. Probably the easiest solution is to write a class that encapsulates a TCPSocket, and just pass the socket returned by accept as a param. However, I'm interested to know how to do it through inheritance—I've been trying to bend my mind around it but can't figure it out. Thanks in advance.

  • How to create a "Shell IDList Array" to support drag-and-drop of virtual files from C# to Windows Ex

    I started trying to implement drag-and-drop of virtual files (from a C# 4/WPF app) with this codeplex tutorial. After spending some time trying to figure out a DV_E_FORMATETC error, I figured out I need to support the "Shell IDList Array" data format. But there seems to be next to zero documentation on what this format actually does. After some searching, I found this page on advanced data transfer which said that a Shell IDList Array was a pointer to a CIDA structure. This CIDA structure then contains the number of PIDLs, and a list of offsets to them. So what the hell is a PIDL? After some more searching, this page sort of implies it's a pointer to an ITEMIDLIST, which itself contains a single member that is a list of SHITEMIDs. My next idea was to try dragging a file from another application with virtual files. I just got a MemoryStream back for this format. At least I know what class to provide for the thing, but that doesn't help at all for explaining what to put in it. So now that that's explained, I still have no idea how to create one of these things so that it's valid. There's two real questions here: What is a valid "abID" member for a SHITEMID? These virtual files only exist with my program; will the thing they are dragged to pass the "abID" back later when it executes GetData? Do they have to be system-unique? Why are there two levels of lists; a list of PIDLs and each PIDL has a list of SHITEMIDs? I'm assuming one of them is one for each file, but what's the other one for? Multiple IDs for the same file? Any help or even links that explain what I should be doing would be greatly appreciated.

  • How do efficiently display items on Google map in the viewing range of the user?

    When a user moves the Google map, I would like to display items in the viewing range of the user automatically. How can I efficiently and quickly display the items? I have basic understanding of calling getBounds() method every time the user moves the map, but I am not sure how I can efficiently search and get from my database the items within the lat/lng of the bounds of the current viewport. Is there easier and faster way of doing this?

  • PHP Simple_html_dom issue

    The snippet below loops through some web pages, grabs the html and then looks for table.results and gets the plaintext out of the tags contained in each . $results is ok. Now I'm trying to get the href value of an tag that is found in the second of each . I'd like to include this in the $results array, but I'm not sure how to do this. The third foreach statement gets them but then I need to merge $links with $results. Ideally I'd also get the links in the second foreach statement.   • Play animation (storyboard) backwards

    Is there a simple way to play some StoryBoad backward (reversed) ? As there is a method Storyboard.Begin() I would expect that there is some method like "Storyboard.BeginReversed()" but I cannot find it. If there is no way to play an animation backwards that I have to write for most of my animations complementary animations. That smells bad to me (code duplication of some kind). Basically I just animate a Grid that shows and than hides.

  • VMware Server 2.0 in Linux loads a blank screen at the login page

    I'm using VMware Server 2.0.1-156745.i386 for Linux on Ubuntu 8.10. When I run "vmware", it brings up what is supposed to be the login page in a browser, but it just loads a blank page. This is the address: https://127.0.0.1:8333/ui/ Sometimes the login page comes back if you reload it a bunch of times, but this time it won't. Doing this also doesn't help: /etc/init.d/vmware restart Does anyone know why this happens, and how to fix it?

  • C++: Static variable inside a constructor, are there any drawbacks or side effects?

    What I want to do: run some prerequisite code whenever instance of the class is going to be used inside a program. This code will check for requiremts etc. and should be run only once. I found that this can be achieved using another object as static variable inside a constructor. Here's an example for a better picture: class Prerequisites { public: Prerequisites() { std::cout << "checking requirements of C, "; std::cout << "registering C in dictionary, etc." << std::endl; } }; class C { public: C() { static Prerequisites prerequisites; std::cout << "normal initialization of C object" << std::endl; } }; What bothers me is that I haven't seen similar use of static variables so far. Are there any drawbacks or side-effects or am I missing something? Or maybe there is a better solution? Any suggestions are welcome.

  • How to parse a directory tree in python?

    I have a directory called "notes" within the notes I have categories which are named "science", "maths" ... within those folder are sub-categories, such as "Quantum Mechanics", "Linear Algebra". ./notes --> ./notes/maths ------> ./notes/maths/linear_algebra --> ./notes/physics/ ------> ./notes/physics/quantum_mechanics My problem is that I don't know how to put the categories and subcategories into TWO SEPARATE list/array.

  • "Abstract static" method - how?

    There are already several SO questions on why there is not abstract static method/field as such, but I'm wondering about how one would go about implementing the following psuedo-code: class Animal { abstract static int getNumberOfLegs(); // not possible } class Chicken inherits Animal { static int getNumberOfLegs() { return 2; } class Dog inherits Animal { static int getNumberOfLegs() { return 4; } Here is the problem: Assuming that I want make sure that every class that inherits Animal to contain getNumberOfLegs() method (i.e. almost like an interface, except I do want the abstract class to implement several methods that are common to all child classes, hence pure interface does not work here). getNumberOfLegs() obviously should be a static method (assuming that in a perfect world we dont' have crippled chicken and dogs so getNumberOfLegs is not instance-dependent). Without an "abstract static" method/field, one can either leave the method out from Animal class, then there is the risk that some child class do not have that method. Or one can make getNumberOfLegs an instance method, but then one would have to instantiate a class to find out how many legs that animal has - even though it is not necessary. How do one usually go about implementing this situation?
