  • Calling a webservice through jquery cross domain

    hi there, i am new to jquery so please bare with me, I am trying to connect to a .asmx webservice (cross domain) by means of client-side script now actually i am having problems to use POST since it is being blocked and in firebug is giving me: OPTIONS Add(method name) 500 internal server error. I bypassed this problem by using GET instead, it is working fine when not inputting any parameters but is giving me trouble with parameters. please see below for the code. The following is a simple example I am trying to make work out with the use of parameters.   • How to hold a queue of messages and have a group of working threads without polling?

    I have a workflow that I want to looks something like this: / Worker 1 \ =Request Channel= - [Holding Queue|||] - Worker 2 - =Response Channel= \ Worker 3 / That is: Requests come in and they enter a FIFO queue Identical workers then pick up tasks from the queue At any given time any worker may work only one task When a worker is free and the holding queue is non-empty the worker should immediately pick up another task When tasks are complete, a worker places the result on the Response Channel I know there are QueueChannels in Spring Integration, but these channels require polling (which seems suboptimal). In particular, if a worker can be busy, I'd like the worker to be busy. Also, I've considered avoiding the queue altogether and simply letting tasks round-robin to all workers, but it's preferable to have a single waiting line as some tasks may be accomplished faster than others. Furthermore, I'd like insight into how many jobs are remaining (which I can get from the queue) and the ability to cancel all or particular jobs. How can I implement this message queuing/work distribution pattern while avoiding a polling? Edit: It appears I'm looking for the Message Dispatcher pattern -- how can I implement this using Spring/Spring Integration?

  • Desimal data Type Display scale part as zero

    I have Decimal field in SQLserver 2005 table, Price decimal(18, 4) if I write 12 it will be converted to 12.0000, if I write 12.33 it will be converted into 12.3300. Always it's putting zero to the right of the decimal point in the count of Scale Part(4). I was using these in SQL Server 2000, it was not behaving like this, in SQL Server 2000 if I put 12.5 it will be stored as 12.5 not as 12.5000 what SQLServer2005 do. My Question is how to stop SQL Server 2005 from putting zeros to the right of the decimal point?

  • Parsing large delimited files with dynamic number of columns

    Hi, What would be the best approach to parse a delimited file when the columns are unknown before parsing the file? The file format is Rightmove v3 (.blm), the structure looks like this: #HEADER# Version : 3 EOF : '^' EOR : '~' #DEFINITION# AGENT_REF^ADDRESS_1^POSTCODE1^MEDIA_IMAGE_00~ // can be any number of columns #DATA# agent1^the address^the postcode^an image~ agent2^the address^the postcode^^~ // the records have to have the same number of columns as specified in the definition, however they can be empty etc #END# The files can potentially be very large, the example file I have is 40Mb but they could be several hundred megabytes. Below is the code I had started on before I realised the columns were dynamic, I'm opening a filestream as I read that was the best way to handle large files. I'm not sure my idea of putting every record in a list then processing is any good though, don't know if that will work with such large files.     Given an account with a list of transactions I would like to output a query that shows each transaction with the rolling balance (just like you would see on an online banking account). TRANSACTIONS - ID - DATE - AMOUNT Here is what I created in T-SQL however was wondering if this can be translated to linq2sql code? select T.ID, convert(char(10), T.DATE, 101) as 'DATE', T.AMOUNT, (select sum(O.AMOUNT) from TRANSACTIONS O where O.DATE < T.DATE or (O.DATE = T.DATE and O.ID <= T.ID)) 'BALANCE' from TRANSACTIONS as T where T.DATE between @pStartDate and @pEndDate order by T.DATE, T.ID Alternatively I guess my other option is to just call a stored procedure for these kind of results. However, I have Services which call Repositories and didn't really want to put the sproc call in the Repository.

  • Cache Refresh in Chrome

    I dunno what exactly it's called, by cache refresh I mean, refresh the page after clearing its cache. I don't want to clear the entire browser cache. I prefer Chrome's Dev panel against firebug... don't ask me why. But I can't seem to cache refresh my pages. In FF, I know it to be Shift+Refresh. In chrome, I've tried Ctrl+R, Ctrl+Refresh, Alt+Refresh, Shift+Refresh but none of them work. EDIT: I got a Notable Question Badge for the lamest question I've ever asked. FML.

I talked about choosing a unicode encoding for the database and the front-end, and designing RTL friendly user interface modules. And he didn't seem too happy with the answer.     Hi! I'd like multiple threads to use the dijkstra_shortest_paths and astar_search functions of the BGL, and then read the property maps of the result vertices and edges. I'm wondering wether I should use mutexes to ensure thread-safety. So here are my questions: 1., Are the dijkstra_shortest_paths and astar_search functions of the Boost.Graph thread safe? 2., If I only try to read the property maps of the graph from multiple threads, do I need to worry about thread safety?

  • Using YQL and Jquery to check URL validity

    The answer in this post http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2119680/use-jquery-to-check-if-a-url-on-another-domain-is-404-or-not shows how to use YQL in Jquery to check if URL is valid or not. However, I can't get this to work for me. The only difference I can think of is that my URL is a text file (http://mycrossdomain.com/sometext.txt) and not HTML.I think the YQL query needs to be adjusted accordingly. Any help is appreciated.

  • Should multiple regional websites all use the same database?

    I'm developing a cms for a company that has multiple regional sites (us, uk, china, russia, etc..). Should I use a separate database for each of these sites or use a single database with a 'site' field in each table? My main concern is the table language encoding (ie, can storing strings in different langauges in the same table cause problems, such as sorting issues).

  • Reasons to learn MSIL

    Hi, Learning MSIL is fun and all that. Understanding what is going on "under the hood" can in many ways improve how you write your code performance-wise. However, the IL that is produced by the compiler is quite verbose and does not tell the whole story since JIT will optimize away a lot of the code. I, personally, have had good use of my very basic IL understanding when I've had to make a small fix in an assembly I do not have the source code for. But, I could as well have used Reflector to generate C# code. I would like to know if you've ever had good use of MSIL understanding and/or why you think it is worth learning it (except for the fun in it, of course). I'd also like to know if you think one should not learn it and why.
