  • wpa_supplicant on lucid

    Hi, I'm trying to get my wifi working through the command line, but I'm not having success. I generated the wpa_supplicant.conf with wpa_passphrase and I'm running wpa_supplicant -Dwext -iwlan0 -c /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf. I only receive as a clue "Disconnect event - remove keys" and I get associated. What can I do?

  • Debian or CentOS?

    I am looking at using either Debian or CentOS for a production server and I've heard mixed reviews of each one. I've heard CentOS performs better under load, however I am aware that Debian has a much larger package repository. Personally, I am partial to Debian since I am less familiar with Red Hat distros, but wanted to reach out on Server Fault to see which I really should be using. Any ideas? Thanks!

  • How to add dynamic profile fields in Invision Power Board?

    I run a game server and want to link the persons in game character name and stats to Invision Power Board. I've setup IPB so players currently login with their in game login. That means their username on the forum is the same as their username for the game. They can have multiple characters on 1 account so ideally I'd like to allow them to choose a main character and display an actual image of that character and allow them to display other characters if they are online. Currently I'm doing something like this by hacking profileFields.php but it's messy and not very efficient on the user or server end. My code currently uses 2 custom fields which the player can enter their character names in. To display only their main character they enter the name in the first field. To also display other characters if they are online they enter the same name into the second field. To resolve the IDs I have to run a lot of queries. I know PHP but I am not familiar with IPBs code at all. I just need pointed in a direction where I can combine the 2 fields into 1 field. tl;dr: Here is my setup: Invision Power Board 3 Data is stored in MySQL on the same server the forum is hosted on. Usernames on the forum are identical to usernames in the game Here is a breakdown of what I'd like to do: In the edit profile section I need to resolve the forum username to the games account id then: Display a list of characters and allow them to choose which characters they want to display if they are online as well as a default character that will be displayed if none are online. In the posts user info pane: Display the online character or the default if none are online. Here is what I need to know: How to generate a list of characters in the profile edit form and allow selection (checkbox) of each character to display as well as the selection of a default character (radio or dropdown?) How to fetch the data and place it in the posts user info pane

  • Recover history from foolish git-svn merge

    the players: master: the svn branch (actual, not local trackign) mybranch: a local branch My mistake: [master] git svn rebase [master] git merge mybranch [master] git svn dcommit I did this twice. Is there a way I can remedy all this? I was thinking something like: git checkout --hard [commit before the merging] git dcommit # that to the svn? git rebase mybranch git dcommit But this doesn't seem to work. (I know I should a. working from a local tracking branch and b. have rebased rather than merged) I'm in the frantic / willing to send beer to respondents stage :)

  • jQuery selector for option tag value attribute returns null

    Hello, I am trying to change the selected option in a select dropdown box with jQuery. I have it set so that it finds the hash tag at the end of the URL and based on that hash tag it changes the selected option in the select box. Most of my code is functional, it successfully finds the hash tag and executes the if statement that corresponds with it. However, when it goes to execute the "then" section of the statement when it goes to the selector for the option (which uses an attribute selector based on the value attribute of the option tag) it returns null. If figured this out with firebug, in the console it says that the selector is null.   • Alternatives to Ctags/Cscope with Objective-c?

    Are there any alternatives to ctags and cscope with Objective-c support. This does pertain to cocoa development, so inevitably it seems I will be using Xcode (and probably should). I was just wondering what are my Vim options. Maybe there is some type of plugin system like eclim, but for xcode? EDIT So it seems that other than updating ctags to support objective-c, I'm out of luck. Does anyone know if cscope is the same?

  • Provisioning problem with certificate and APNs

I hava a big problem, here is the deal : I've made an app which has an id, on an another machine i've submit the app to the app store, now i have another mac, and i have made the AppIds using my old mac (so i used an old cer to make the push certificates), next made my apns cert for my server and i have : unable to connect to ssl://gateway.... I do not know what to do because i cannot create another appId using the same id and can't remove an app Id. Thanks to all

  • Cufon h2 on div hover

    Hi all, I have h2 tags inside divs which I need to change colour on div hover, if the cufon is turned off, the h2 tag changes colour fine, but when cufon is turned on, it doesn't change colour.   • Minimax algorithm: Cost/evaluation function?

    Hi guys, A school project has me writing a Date game in C++ (example at http://www.cut-the-knot.org/Curriculum/Games/Date.shtml) where the computer player must implement a Minimax algorithm with alpha-beta pruning. Thus far, I understand what the goal is behind the algorithm in terms of maximizing potential gains while assuming the opponent will minify them. However, none of the resources I read helped me understand how to design the evaluation function the minimax bases all it's decisions on. All the examples have had arbitrary numbers assigned to the leaf nodes, however, I need to actually assign meaningful values to those nodes. Intuition tells me it'd be something like +1 for a win leaf node, and -1 for a loss, but how do intermediate nodes evaluate? Any help would be most appreciated.

I am splitting the string as follows $parts = split(' ', preg_replace("/([0-9])/", ' ${1}', $amount, 1)); Couldn't make preg_split work with PREG_SPLIT_DELIM_CAPTURE $parts = preg_split("/\d/", $amount, 2, PREG_SPLIT_DELIM_CAPTURE); I have an array of currency sign to currency code $currencySymbols = array('£'=>'GBP', '$'=>'USD','€'=>'EUR') I need to 1. split the string into currency sign and value - if there is a better way then what i am doing 2. map the currency sign to currency code.   • What is the correct way to synchronize a shared, static object in Java?

    This is a question concerning what is the proper way to synchronize a shared object in java. One caveat is that the object that I want to share must be accessed from static methods. My question is, If I synchronize on a static field, does that lock the class the field belongs to similar to the way a synchronized static method would? Or, will this only lock the field itself? In my specific example I am asking: Will calling PayloadService.getPayload() or PayloadService.setPayload() lock PayloadService.payload? Or will it lock the entire PayloadService class? public class PayloadService extends Service { private static PayloadDTO payload = new PayloadDTO(); public static void setPayload(PayloadDTO payload){ synchronized(PayloadService.payload){ PayloadService.payload = payload; } } public static PayloadDTO getPayload() { synchronized(PayloadService.payload){ return PayloadService.payload ; } } ... Is this a correct/acceptable approach ? In my example the PayloadService is a separate thread, updating the payload object at regular intervals - other threads need to call PayloadService.getPayload() at random intervals to get the latest data and I need to make sure that they don't lock the PayloadService from carrying out its timer task

  • Multiple calls to different page methods in same web page are not running in parallel (JQuery/Ajax/A

    I have several page methods defined in the code behind of an aspx page. I have several JS calls (see example below), one after the other, in the ready() method of JQuery to call these page methods. I noticed the javascript calls run asynchronously but the .NET page methods do not run in parallel. Page method 1 finishes first before page method 2 runs. Is there a way to get all the page methods to run all at the same time? My workaround is to put each method in its own aspx page or use iframes but I am looking for better solutions. $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: (page/methodname), data: "{}", contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", dataType: "json", success: function(msg) { .... } } });

  • Best method of achieving bi-directional communication between Apple iPad "clients" and a Windows Ser

    We are currently starting to build a client-server system which will see 10 or more Apple iPad client devices communicating to a central Windows server over a wireless LAN. We wanted to some existing plumbing (.NET remoting/WCF/web services/etc) that would allow us to implement a reliable, secure solution without having to start at a low level (e.g. sockets) and recreate the wheel. One of the major requirements that complicates this scenario is that unlike a traditional web service, the windows server needs to be able to arbitrarily notify the clients whenever certain events occur -- so it is not a simple request/response scenario like the web. Initially, we were going to use Windows clients, so our plan was to use the full-duplex mode of .NET WCF over HTTP|TCP. But now using the iPad, we don't have any of the WCF infrastructure. So my question is: what is the best way to allow an iPad and a Windows server to (securely) communicate over a LAN, with each device able to initiate communication to the other? Am I stuck writing low-level socket code? Thanks!

  • Formatting text in an html table column?

    So, I have a table like below. Imagine there are multiple columns, I thought by formatting the <col/> tag I would be able to change the formatting of every <td> in that column. I want to give data in the first column a text-align:center, but it doesn't seem to work. Is there a way to get this to work other than adding a class to every <td>? <table> <col class="column"/> <tr> ... </tr> <tr> ... </tr> <tr> ... </tr> </table>

  • Cufon font replacement issue

    I copied the working files from a demo url to the live site and cufon refuses to work after modifying everything I can think of. I even regenerated the font thinking I may have accidentally specified a domain for restricting the use. The trouble url is sterlingross.com and I am unable to see where I have gone wrong. Thank you for your help.
