  • Where does $PATH get set in OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard?

    I type echo $PATH on the command line and get /opt/local/bin:/opt/local/sbin:/Users/andrew/bin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/local/mysql/bin:/usr/local/pear/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/X11/bin:/opt/local/bin:/usr/local/git/bin I'm wondering where this is getting set since my .bash_login file is empty. I'm particularly concerned that, after installing MacPorts, it installed a bunch of junk in /opt. I don't think that directory even exists in a normal Mac OS X install. Update: Thanks to jtimberman for correcting my echo $PATH statement

  • load page with inactive scrollbar

    I have a page that scrolls through images, some taller than the others. When a tall image loads it auto-creates a scrollbar in the browser window, causing a width jerk. Is there a way to load a scroll bar regardless of if it is needed, and when a tall image apears it activates itself accordingly, then deactivates its self accordingly when the image changes to a shorter image? Thank you!

  • UISearchBar animation hidding button

    Hello I currently have a UISearchBar (attached to a UISearchDisplayController), but I reduced the width of the search bar so I could display a custom button to its right when the search bar is not selected. The button is used to access other views. However, when I select the search bar and then press cancel (or even perform a search) and return to the normal view, where the search bar should be displayed with my custom button, the search bar animates and takes up all the room for the button and the is not displayed. Essentially, the search bar takes up all the width of the screen when I only want it to take up a part of it. Is there any way to prevent the search bar from animating to the whole width of the screen? This is how I defined the CGRect of the search bar: self = [[UISearchBar alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0.0f, 0.0f, 250.0f, 45.0f)] Any help would be great. Regards

  • .NET Remoting Connecting to Wrong Host

    I have an application I wrote which has been running well for 4 years. Yesterday they moved all their servers around and installed about 60 pending Windows updates, and now it is broken. The application makes use of remoting to update some information on another server (10.0.5.230), but when I try to create my remote object, I get the following exception: Note that it is trying to connect to 127.0.0.1, not the proper server. The server (10.0.5.230) is listening on port 9091 as it should. This same error is happening on all three terminal servers where this application is installed.     Hello All, I am learning to use the jquery ui:dialog. And when i go to this link for the example for a modal dialog, in ie6 http://jqueryui.com/demos/dialog/#modal The resizing of the dialog doesnt work. I try to replicate the same scenario by myself, with the bgiframe:true option, the resizing still doesnt work. I know there is an iframefix out there to put in the jquery.ui.resizable.js it still doesnt work. I am using jquery-1.4.2.js Any ideas

  • Java not working on MacOS X Leopard

    I'm running Leopard, xcode 3.1.3. When I type "java" at the command line I get this: dyld: could not load inserted library: /usr/lib/libSaturnFE.dylib Trace/BPT trap What did I do? I did do some profiling with Saturn a while back but I didn't know it was going to screw up my machine. I'm fairly sure it worked when I first installed xcode. I guess I could install a different Java SDK than the one that came with Xcode? I can't find an upgrade path for Xcode that doesn't require me to upgrade to Snow Leopard. I just don't feel like upgrading to Snow Leopard right now because I don't have good disk backups in place. edit: at least if anybody could point me to a resource or even a Mac forum where I could ask this question it would be really helpful.

  • OpenCv QT CvNamedWindow IplImage not working

    I have problem with displaying Cam on QTLabel using openCV, Every thing is working fine . except one . I have to call function from open === cvNamedWindow() == in order for program to work properly . its displaying the webcam on the QLabel no problem but if i don't call the cvNamedWindow function then the program is just hanging its just keep displaying the camera which are working on the screen but i can't click on any thing else its getting freeze. doest any one has any idea why its happening and what i am doing wrong ?

  • How do I animate a UIButton in a UITableView?

    I currently have a UITableView with each cell containing four UIButtons. I am placing an image for each button with a downloaded picture from online. I'd like to have the button fade in when the image is finished downloading. I know I can animate in the viewDidLoad, but I assign the image in the cellForRowAtIndex function. How do I go about animating just the UIButton at a later point in time when I update the UIButton with the image?

  • Can I use a MIME type declaration to get an HTML file to open in MS Word?

  • Calling https process from ASP Net

    I have an ASP NET web server application that calls another process running on the same box that creates a pdf file and returns it. The second process requires a secure connection via SSL. The second process has issued my ASP NET application with a digital certificate but I still cannot authenticate, getting a 403 error. The code is a little hard to show but here's a simplified method ... X509Certificate cert = X509Certificate.CreateFromCertFile("path\to\cert.cer"); string URL = "https://urltoservice?params=value"; HttpWebRequest req = HttpWebRequest.Create(URL) as HttpWebRequest; req.ClientCertificates.Add(cert); req.Credentials = CredentialCache.DefaultCredentials; req.PreAuthenticate = true; /// error happens here WebResponse resp = req.GetResponse(); Stream input = resp.GetResponseStream(); The error text is "The remote server returned an error: (403) Forbidden." Any pointers are welcome.

  • transferring binary files between systems

    Hi guys I'm trying to transfer my files between 2 UNIX clusters, the data is pure numeric (vectors of double) in binary form. Unfortunately one of the systems is IBM ppc997 and the other is AMD Opteron, It seems the format of binary numbers in these systems are different. I have tried 3 ways till now: 1- Changed my files to ASCII format (i.e. saved a number at each line in a text file), sent them to the destination and changed them again to binary on the target system (they both are UNIX, no end of line character difference??!) 2- Sent pure binaries to the destination 3- used uuencode sent them to the destination and decoded them Unfortunately any of these methods does not work (my code in the destination system generates garbage, while it works on the first system, I'm 100% sure the code itself is portable). I don't know what else I can do? Do you have any idea? I'm not a professional, please don't use computer scientists terminology! And: my codes are in C, so by binary I mean a one to one mapping between memory and hard disk. Thanks

  • Quick introduction to Linux needed [closed]

    Hi guys! I have to get into Linux ASAP and realy mean ASAP. I have installed Cygwin but as allways - things dont go as easy as one would like. First problem i enconter was - i choose KDE package, but there is no sign of KDE files anywhere in cygwin folder. How do i run KDE windows. Currently startx fires, but all looks ugly! My desire is to download and run Qt Creator. Seems that there is no cygwin package, but downloading source and compiling is good to go. Only that i have forgoten every linux command i ever knew! :D Please - what are default commands u use on linux? What does exec do? what ./ stands for? What is directory strucutre and why there is such mess in bin folder? Thanks god - i have windows over cygwin, so downloading files is not a problem, but again -how do i unpack them in linux style and how to i build? simply issue "make" command from folder, where i extracted files? Please help!

  • Custom control doesn't fire validation

    I've written a custom ASP.net control that descends from LinkButton and overrides the Render() method. I'm using it to replace ImageButtons in the site I'm working on so we don't have to have an image for each button. This control works fine, does the required post-backs etc., however it doesn't fire the validators in its validation group. This is obviously an issue.   • Looking for new hosting company

    I am currently looking for a new hosting company for my business. We are a design and development company and have been recommending WestHost to our clients for the last several years. However due to some changes they have implemented in the last year, we have decided to start referring people elsewhere. Most of our clients need affordable Linux hosting with the basics. SSH is also a definite must and 24/7 support (preferably phone, as well as email/ticket system) that won't cost extra. An easy to use and understand control panel would be nice as well. I have heard good things about HostGator, and am wondering if anyone has experience with them. The prices seem right and they have everything we need. We are also thinking of purchasing a dedicated server with them for a specific project that's going to require one. I don't know if I am asking this in the right place, if this is not welcome here please let me know.

  • Google is blocking our requests due to "automated queries"; what's the best way to find out why?

    This started a few weeks ago and we thought it was a virus so we checked every computer and all though 50%(Yeah, that's right) were infected once they were cleaned the problem didn't go away. It's really frustrating so I want to figure it out so I need suggestions on how to find the culprit. I think the router has logging but it logs everyone so it's hard to tell and I might be able to setup a proxy but again it's hard to tell when and what to monitor. What are your suggestions?
