    Actually I have such a code: NSString *path = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource: @"connect" ofType: @"xml"]; NSError *error = nil; NSString *data = [NSString stringWithContentsOfFile: path encoding: NSUTF8StringEncoding error: &error]; NSString *message = [NSString stringWithFormat:data, KEY, COUNTRY_ID]; which reads the connect.xml from resources. But on the formating the string (message) APP quits without displaying any errors. How can I read file.xml from resources to NSString with format?

  • Javascript form validation only works in firefox

    Hello, I am relatively new to Javascript so I'm hoping this is a simple mistake. I building a generic form validation function that is called on the form's onSubmit. The function loops through all the form's child elements, looks for certain classes, and analyzes the contents of the appropriate fields. If it finds something missing or erroneous, it displays the appropriate error message div and returns false, thus preventing the form from being submitted to the php page. It works well in firefox 3.6.3, but in every other browser I've tested (Safari 4.0.4, Chrome 4.1, IE8) it seems to ignore the onSubmit and jump straight to the php processing page.   • C# some sort of plugin system

    Hi, I am a mobile web developer and trying to monetize my traffic with mobile ad services and i have a problem. First of all to get most of out of your ads you usually need to do server side request to advert company's servers and there are quite few ad services. Problem starts when you want to use them in one site. All have different approaches to server side calls and trying to maintain and implement those ad codes becomes pain after a while. So I decided to write a class system where i can simply create methods for every company and upload it to my site. So far i have public Advert class public AdPublisher class with GetAd method that returns an Advert public Adservice class that has Service names as enum I also have converted server request codes of all ad services i use to classes. It works ok but I want to be able to create an ad service class upload it so that asp.net app can import/recognize it automatically like a plugin system. As I am new to .net I have no idea where to start or how to do it.   • Excel VBA File not Found

    During development of some Excel vba code about every other iteration where I go in and add some code then save the file, the next time I open the thing (it is automatically set to run the code on open) I get a spurious "File not Found" error. To fix it I copy all the code- modules and classes plus the startup code, to a fresh blank excel file save it and it runs fine. This happens in both Excel 2003 and 2007. What is happening here?

  • JavaScript cookie value can't be retrieved in Django

    I am trying to build a web site in both English and Bulgarian using the Django framework. My idea is the user should click on a button, the page will reload and the language will be changed.   • Approach to Selecting top item matching a criteria

    I have a SQL problem that I've come up against routinely, and normally just solved w/ a nested query. I'm hoping someone can suggest a more elegant solution. It often happens that I need to select a result set for a user, conditioned upon it being the most recent, or the most sizeable or whatever. For example: Their complete list of pages created, but I only want the most recent name they applied to a page. It so happens that the database contains many entries for each page, and only the most recent one is desired. I've been using a nested select like: SELECT pg.customName, pg.id FROM ( select id, max(createdAt) as mostRecent from pages where userId = @UserId GROUP BY id ) as MostRecentPages JOIN pages pg ON pg.id = MostRecentPages.id AND pg.createdAt = MostRecentPages.mostRecent Is there a better syntax to perform this selection?

  • NSFetchedResultsController on secondary UITableView - how to query data?

    I am creating a core-data based Navigation iPhone app with multiple screens. Let's say it is a flash-card application. The data model is very simple, with only two entities: Language, and CardSet. There is a one-to-many relationship between the Language entity and the CardSet entities, so each Language may contain multiple CardSets. In other words, Language has a one-to-many relationship Language.cardSets which points to the list of CardSets, and CardSet has a relationship CardSet.language which points to the Language. There are two screens: (1) An initial TableView screen, which displays the list of languages; and (2) a secondary TableView screen, which displays the list of CardSets in the Language. In the initial screen, which lists the languages, I am using NSFetchedResultsController to keep the list of languages up-to-date. The screen passes the Language selected to the secondary screen. On the secondary screen, I am trying to figure out whether I should again use an NSFetchedResultsController to maintain the list of CardSets, or if I should work through Language.cardSets to simply pull the list out of the object model. The latter makes the most sense programatically because I already have the Language - but then it would not automatically be updated on changes. I have looked at the NSFetchedResultsController documentation, and it seems like I can easily create predicates based on attributes - but not relationships. I.e., I can create the following NSFetchedResultsController: NSPredicate *predicate = [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat:@"name LIKE[c] 'Chuck Norris'"]; How can I access my data through the direct relationship - Language.cardSets - and also have the table auto-update using NSFetchedResultsController? Is this possible?

  • Postgres error messages in Apache error log

    I'm running Apache 2.2, PHP 5.2, and Postgres 8.2 on Windows, and I'm seeing something funky in Apache's error.log file. Occasionally, I'll see the message "row number -1 is out of range 0..-1" pop up over and over. Unlike all the other lines in that log file, there's no timestamp or log level. Just that exact string. Googling around, it appears that message is, character for character, a common Postgres error message, but is not an Apache error. I've seen it happen multiple times, and on several different servers. I can't seem to reproduce it, though. I've tried throwing all sorts of error ridden database queries and result set inquiries at Postgres via PHP, and none of them seem to trigger that line being written to the log file. Is it possible for Postgres errors to be ending up in my Apache log file, and if so, how? What would trigger an error message like that? Thanks!

    Please vote to reopen. This is different from Can I use my laptop as a second monitor for my desk computer?, because that question is asking how to use the laptop screen as the secondary display, not as the only display. My PC's monitor just died and I'm not looking at buying a new monitor anytime soon. So I'm thinking of using my laptop's monitor for it. Both machines are running on Fedora linux. Edit: Both machines are connected to the same wireless network. PC needs to log in before it can connect to the network if I'm not mistaken.

  • Take Snapshots of Your Favorite Movie Scenes in VLC

    Have you ever wanted to grab a screenshot of your favorite TV or movie scene? Today we’ll show you how to do so with VLC Media Player. If you don’t have it already, download and install the latest version of VLC (link below). Start playing your movie, and to grab a snapshot, select Video from the menu and click Snapshot.   When you take a snapshot, by default a preview is displayed at the top left and the folder where the file is saved is briefly displayed on the screen. If you enable the Advanced Controls, you can take a snapshot with a click of a button, and advance the video frame by frame to get a more accurate shot. To enable the Advanced Controls, select View and Advanced Controls.   You’ll see the Advanced Controls buttons appear below the slider. Now just click on the Snapshot button to grab an image.   You can more easily control the frame you wish to grab by pressing the Frame by Frame button. You can pause the movie when it is near the perfect spot for your snapshot, and then press the Frame by Frame button to advance a single frame at a time. By default, the snapshots are saved as PNG files in your My Pictures folder in Windows. You can change those setting in the Preferences. First, you’ll need to select All under Show settings at the bottom. Then click on Video on the left. Scroll down a bit and you’ll see the Snapshot section. Here you can change the format from PNG to JPG, change the directory to which the snapshots are stored, turn on and off the preview, and change the filename prefix. Click Save when finished.   Now you have nice screenshots of your favorite movie to display as you wish…such as a Desktop Background!   VLC is an excellent media player that runs on Windows, Mac, and Linux.   • UITableView: Need a liveUpdate (Huge amount of cells)

    Hey all, I have a UITableView which shows some information. The informations are from a XMLFile. The Xmlfile is pretty big, about 500 entries. I don't want that the user has to wait until the parsing has finished, i want to add cell by cell to the TableView. Here's my code: -(void) onFinishedPartDownload:(id)item { if(odvTableViewDelegateController.odvs == nil) odvTableViewDelegateController.odvs = [NSMutableArray new]; if([odvTableViewDelegateController.odvs count]==0) { genericDelegate.tableView.delegate = odvTableViewDelegateController; genericDelegate.tableView.dataSource = odvTableViewDelegateController; } [odvTableViewDelegateController.odvs addObject:item]; [genericDelegate.tableView reloadData]; } This method is called everytime an item has parsed, but it reloads the tableView all at once at the end. I don't have my expected liveUpdate which i'm searching for. The intervall the method is called is about 0.001 to 0.0025 seconds. Any ideas to fix that? Sebastian

  • Rails has_one vs belongs_to semantics

    I have a model representing a Content item that contains some images. The number of images are fixed as these image references are very specific to the content. For example, the Content model refers to the Image model twice (profile image, and background image). I am trying to avoid a generic has_many, and sticking to multiple has_one's. The current database structure looks like: contents - id:integer - integer:profile_image_id - integer:background_image_id images - integer:id - string:filename - integer:content_id I just can't figure out how to setup the associations correctly here. The Content model could contain two belongs_to references to an Image, but that doesn't seem semantically right cause ideally an image belongs to the content, or in other words, the content has two images. This is the best I could think of (by breaking the semantics): class Content belongs_to :profile_image, :class_name => 'Image', :foreign_key => 'profile_image_id' belongs_to :background_image, :class_name => 'Image', :foreign_key => 'background_image_id' end Am I way off, and there a better way to achieve this association?

    I have a context menu, that I'd like to change the Header based on whether the Control Key is pressed or not. Right now I have, <MenuItem Header="Send To"> <MenuItem ... /> <MenuItem ... /> </MenuItem> I'd like based on the Control Key being down to be, <MenuItem Header="Move To"> <MenuItem ... /> <MenuItem ... /> </MenuItem> All I really need to do is change the Header text, because inside the code I know how to check for the Modifier key being Control.

  • NASM: Count how many bits in a 32 Bit number are set to 1.

    I have a 32 Bit number and want to count know how many bits are 1. I'm thinking of this pseudocode: mov eax, [number] while(eax != 0) { div eax, 2 if(edx == 1) { ecx++; } shr eax, 1 } Is there a more efficient way? I'm using NASM on a x86 processor. (I'm just beginning with assembler, so please do not tell me to use code from extern libraries, because I do not even know how to include them ;) ) (I just found http://stackoverflow.com/questions/109023/best-algorithm-to-count-the-number-of-set-bits-in-a-32-bit-integer which also contains my solution. There are other solutions posted, but unfortunatly I can't seem to figure out, how I would write them in assembler)
