  • <%: %> brackets for HTML Encoding in ASP.NET 4.0

    Accidentally I found this post about a new feature in ASP.NET 4.0: Expressions enclosed in these new brackets <%: Content %> should be rendered as HTML encoded. I've tried this within a databound label in a FormView like so: <asp:Label ID="MyLabel" runat="server" Text='<%: Eval("MyTextProperty") %>' /> But it doesn't work: The text property contains script tags (for testing), but the output is blank. Using the traditional way works: <asp:Label ID="MyLabel" runat="server" Text='<%# HttpUtility.HtmlEncode(Eval("MyTextProperty")) %>' /> What am I doing wrong? (On a sidenote: I am too stupid to find any information: Google refuses to search for that thing. The VS2010 Online help on MSDN offers a lot of hits, but nothing related to my search. Stackoverflow search too. And I don't know how these "things" (the brackets I mean) are officially called to have a better search term.) Any info and additional links and resources are welcome!   • Nerd Dinner - labels for textfields are broken

    Hello. I am trying to learn ASP.NET (since I know C#) so I have decided to follow Nerd Dinner Tutorial. I am having trouble in part 5 of tutorial. I exactly followed tutorial, even pasted whole code to my visual studio, but when I was supposed to create EDIT VIEW, my result was different than one in tutorial. Please take a look at following pictures and think, where might problem be. I did not customise anything, everything is default.   • How do I pass a string or data object between two view controllers?

  • How do I control the background color during the iPhone flip view animation transition?

    I have some pretty standing flipping action going on: [UIView beginAnimations:@"swapScreens" context:nil]; [UIView setAnimationTransition:UIViewAnimationTransitionFlipFromLeft forView:self.view cache:YES]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:1.0]; [self.view exchangeSubviewAtIndex:0 withSubviewAtIndex:1]; [UIView commitAnimations]; To Apple's credit, this style of animation is amazingly easy to work with. Very cool, and I've been able to animate transitions, flips, fades etc. throughout the app very easily. Question: During the flip transition, the background visible 'behind' the two views during the flip is white and I'd like it to be black. I've: Set the background of the containing view (self.view above) - no dice. I really thought that would work. Set the background of each view to black - no dice. I didn't think this would work although you give different things a shot to understand better :) Google'd like crazy; keep landing on Safari-related listings. Thanks in advance!

    I have a method that asynchronously downloads images. If the images are related to an array of objects (a common use-case in the app I'm building), I want to cache them. The idea is, I pass in an index number (based on the indexPath.row of the table I'm making by way through), and I stash the image in a static NSMutableArray, keyed on the row of the table I'm dealing with.     I am trying to format 'n' number of disks using a batch script. My script goes like this. diskpart /s "abc.txt" where abc.txt is: sel disk 1 create part primary format FS=NTFS label=label2 quick compress My Problem here is I want to 'loop' the commands in abc.txt for the number of disks that exists. But I cannot send an argument like %1 to abc.txt file as it is a .txt file. and my diskpart /s can only take a .txt file as an argument. how to overcome this... could anybody please help?

I downloaded it, but don't know what the proper steps are to add this tarball into the webmin config. I'm running Ubuntu Server 9.10 with Webmin 1.510, if that matters.

  • recyle application pool,Warm up scripts-Performance tuning in Sharepoint WCM site

    I was trying to tune WCM public facing site we have in Sharepoint . I have following doubts By default application pools are set to recycle themselves at 2 am in night and because of that we need warm up scripts . But As I was googling on this topic I found mixed reactions on this some MVP are saying its not advisable to recycle application pool daily and some say otherwise so I am confused. Because if I am not doing recycling application pool then I don't hv to use warmup scripts . But as my site is public facing and its all around the globe so is it advisable that I should recycle it daily as it will affect the performance of my site even though I would run warm up scripts once I don't think so it wud be as good as it should be ....Any advice on that?

I have 4 sections: Section1, Section2, Section3, Section4 There are classes for each section, so I am hiding and showing based on the section. The problem is some classes need to be showin in Section1 and Section2. <div class="section1 section2"> blah blah </div> $('a.homeLink').click(function(){ $('.section1').show(); $('.section2, .section3, .section4').hide(); return false; }); As you see in this case I have a div in two sections, but as i thought would happen it remains hidden due to hiding class section2 work arounds or solutions?? thanks

  • Using the MVVM Light Toolkit to make Blendable applications

    A while ago, I posted a question regarding switching between a Blend-authored GUI and a Visual Studio-authored one. I got it to work okay by adding my Blend project to my VS2008 project and then changing the Startup Application and recompiling. This would result in two applications that had completely different GUIs, yet used the exact same ViewModel and Model code. I was pretty happy with that. Now that I've learned about the Laurent Bugnion's MVVM Light Toolkit, I would really like to leverage his efforts to make this process of supporting multiple GUIs for the same backend code possible. The question is, does the toolkit facilate this, or am I stuck doing it my previous way? I've watched his video from MIX10 and have read some of the articles about it online. However, I've yet to see something that indicates that there is a clean way to allow a user to either dynamically switch GUIs on the fly by loading a different DLL. There are MVVM templates for VS2008 and Blend 3, but am I supposed to create both types of projects for my application and then reference specific files from my VS2008 solution? UPDATE I re-read some information on Laurent's site, and seemed to have forgotten that the whole point of the template was to allow the same solution to be opened in VS2008 and Blend. So anyhow, with this new perspective it looks like the templates are actually intended to use a single GUI, most likely designed entirely in Blend (with the convenience of debugging through VS2008), and then be able to use two different ViewModels -- one for design-time, and one for runtime. So it seems to me like the answer to my question is that I want to use a combination of my previous solution, along with the MVVM Light Toolkit. The former will allow me to make multiple, distinct GUIs around my core code, while the latter will make designing fancy GUIs in Blend easier with the usage of a design-time ViewModel. Can anyone comment on this?

I need to attach the id of the business to the row of photos.   • Probability distribution for sms answer delays

    I'm writing an app using sms as communication. I have chosen to subscribe to an sms-gateway, which provides me with an API for doing so. The API has functions for sending as well as pulling new messages. It does however not have any kind of push functionality. In order to do my queries most efficient, I'm seeking data on how long time people wait before they answer a text message - as a probability function. Extra info: The application is interactive (as can be), so I suppose the times will be pretty similar to real life human-human communication. I don't believe differences in personal style will play a big impact on the right times and frequencies to query, so average data should be fine.

    I am trying to design the standards and patterns for implementing portlets/web gadgets with the main goal of maximizing interoperability if those components were hosted in a Java app server framework or within an existing ASP.NET technology (SharePoint webparts), or a client side-only framework. Is there any guidance anywhere of the parts of different portlet standards that are shared between most portal frameworks? Is the best I can hope for is to adhere to the JSR 168 and 286 standards and hitch my wagon to Java?

  • ASP MVC ViewData from one view to another (Html.Encode())

    Hello all, I have a page with a bunch of labels and checkboxes on it. On this page, the labels need to be easily customizable after the project is deployed. So I made all of the labels in this style: Html.Encode(ViewData["lblText"]) And I added a button on the page called "Edit Button Labels" that will only be seen by admins. When that button is clicked, I would like to load another view that simply contains a table of two columns. One column needs to contain the current labels and the other should have text boxes for the user to enter new labels. Then, once any changes have been made, I need to permanently change the "lblText" for each label on the original page. I have tried passing viewdata and tempdata to the "Edit Button Labels" view using both return view() and return RedirectToAction() with no success. Am I missing something minor or is there a better way to do this?
