  • googledoc doesn't accept zip files ?

    I want to archive some project files. I have uploaded them to microsoft skydrive without problem. As I don't totally trust ms i wanted also store them elsewhere. So I tried Google doc and to my surprise it says server refuses. It's c# zipped files, not video or softwares, why does it refuse ? What is Google Doc worth then ?

    I want to log into https://www.t-mobile.com/ programmatically. My first idea was to use Mechanize to submit the login form: However, it turns out that this isn't even a real form. Instead, when you click "Log in" some javascript grabs the values of the fields, creates a new form dynamically, and submits it.   • Performance Problems with Django's F() Object

    Has anyone else noticed performance issues using Django's F() object? I am running Windows XP SP3 and developing against the Django trunk. A snippet of the models I'm using and the query I'm building are below. When I have the F() object in place, each call to a QuerySet method (e.g. filter, exclude, order_by, distinct, etc.) takes approximately 2 seconds, but when I comment out the F() clause the calls are sub-second. I had a co-worker test it on his Ubuntu machine, and he is not experiencing the same performance issues I am with the F() clause.   • Problem installing MySQL gem on Fedora

    When I try rake db:migrate, I get the following error: !!! The bundled mysql.rb driver has been removed from Rails 2.2. Please install the mysql gem and try again: gem install mysql. rake aborted! no such file to load -- mysql And when I try to "gem install mysql" Building native extensions. This could take a while... ERROR: Error installing mysql: ERROR: Failed to build gem native extension. /usr/bin/ruby extconf.rb Can't find header files for ruby. Gem files will remain installed in /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/mysql-2.8.1 for inspection. $ sudo gem install mysql -- --with-mysql-config=/usr/local/mysql/bin/mysql_config has also been tried but same error. I'm on a Fedora 10. Help will be much appreciated.Cheers!

  • Parsing a blackberry .ipd file

    I recently lost my Blackberry. When I discovered it was gone very shortly afterwards and called it, the sim card had already been removed. I ain't seeing that Blackberry again. Ok. I am out $300, but at least my data is backed up. I had an older working Blackberry fortunately and I got a new sim card and proceeded to restore my data using Blackberry Desktop Manager. 7000+ emails, hundreds of autotext entries, sms messages, calendar events, all backing up. Looking good. Lo and behold! My Address Book contacts refuse to back up? I try advanced, and it is greyed out as an option to restore. Far more frustrating than losing my bberry in the first place is wrangling with software that defies human logic. Ok, now I guess I will have to enter all 327 names by hand. That is, if I can read the .ipd file. I have tried the free version of ABC Amber Blackberry editor, but when I open the .ipd file, the contacts just do not show up. I am beginning to feel like the gods are conspiring against me. Then I found this: http://jabide.com/2009/03/parse-blackberry-ipd-files/ He posted a perl script that claims to extract the files. I copied and pasted the code and it did list all the different databases in my .ipd file, I was elated that a cool solution like this was published. I followed the instructions and garbled data with some discernible ascii was sent to standard output unlike a .csv file like he said it would. This is enough to make a grown man cry. Does anyone out there have a solution to extract my address book contacts from an .ipd file?

  • Response, Result, Reply, which is best?

    I'm refactoring some client-server code and it uses the terms Response, Result & Reply for the same thing (an answer from the server). And although its not really that important it's become hard to guess which word to use while writing new code, so I'd like to unify the three terms into one and do the appropriate refactoring, but I'm not sure which word is the "best", if there is such a thing. Any suggestions based on precedence and standards towards naming for this case?

I know that I can't do a GROUP BY on the OnlineStatus column, and it makes sense because it's a function call, not an actual column in my table.   • Why can't the JVM just make autoboxing "just work"?

    Autoboxing is rather scary. While I fully understand the difference between == and .equals I can't but help have the follow bug the hell out of me: final List<Integer> foo = Arrays.asList(1, 1000); final List<Integer> bar = Arrays.asList(1, 1000); System.out.println(foo.get(0) == bar.get(0)); System.out.println(foo.get(1) == bar.get(1)); That prints true false Why did they do it this way? It something to do with cached Integers, but if that is the case why don't they just cache all Integers used by the program? Or why doesn't the JVM always auto unbox to primitive? Printing false false or true true would have been way better.

    We have a .Net application that runs as a shell for certain users. We'd like the application to automatically restart when it crashes. The application is set as the shell here: HKEY_USERS*User*\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\WinLogon\Shell I've tried adding an "AutoRestartShell" key with a value of "1", like what exists in: HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\WinLogon. When I kill the application's process for the user (via RDP) the application exits, but never restarts. Ideas?

  • Automating WebTrends analysis

    Every week I access server logs processed by WebTrends (for about 7 profiles) and copy ad clickthrough and visitor information into Excel spreadsheets. A lot of it is just accessing certain sections and finding the right title and then copying the unique visitor information. I tried using WebTrends' built-in query tool but that is really poorly done (only uses a drag-and-drop system instead of text-based) and it has a maximum number of parameters and maximum length of queries to query with. As far as I know, the tools in WebTrends are not suitable to my purpose of automating the entire web metrics gathering process. I've gotten access to the raw server logs, but it seems redundant to parse that given that they are already being processed by WebTrends. To me it seems very scriptable, but how would I go about doing that? Is screen-scraping an option?

    I have a treeview control that gets populated at runtime with a pyramid of employee names. I put the css scrollbar on the view by putting overflow:auto" in the tag where the treeview is located. The users are now asking me to to have the scrollbar go down in the treeview where a treeview item is selected. How do I make a scroll bar to go to a place where the treeview has been selected? Note: treeView1.SelectedNode.EnsureVisible(); is not available in asp.net need another way.

  • Ant Copy Task: Failed to copy due to java.io.FileNotFoundException

    I'm trying to compile a Flex application in Ant (no problems here, I can do it fine). When I try to publish the contents of the project to a Windows network drive (known as "Z:\" on my system), I get the following LAME exception thrown by Java/Ant: BUILD FAILED C:\workspace\bkeller\build.xml:42: Failed to copy C:\workspace\bkeller\web\assets\text\biography.html to Z:\web\bkeller\assets\text\biography.html due to java.io.FileNotFoundException Z:\web\bkeller\assets\text\biography.html (The system cannot find the file specified) Which kind of sucks. I can't find any way to get rid of this problem and it's pretty crucial to my project that I get this working. I know for sure that I have read/write/execute permissions on the network drive, I can create/edit/delete files on the drive just fine through Windows explorer. Drive Z is a network mount to virtualbox, allowing me to get access to my host OS, Ubuntu. I've double checked that it has write permissions. Any ideas?

  • Ruby -- looking for some sort of "Regexp unescape" method

    I have a bunch of strings that appear to have been double-escaped -- eg, I have "\\014\"\\000\"\\016smoothing\"\\011mean\"\\022color\"\\011zero@\\016" but I want "\014"\000"\016smoothing"\011mean"\022color"\011zero@\016" Is there a method I can use to unescape them? I imagine that I could make a regex to remove 1 backslash from every consecutive n backslashes, but I don't have a lot of regex experience and it seems there ought to be a "more elegant" way to do it. For example, when I puts MyString it displays the output I'd like, but I don't know how I might capture that into a variable. Thanks! Edited to add context: I have this class that is being used to marshal / restore some stuff, but when I restore some old strings it spits out a type error which I've determined is because they weren't -- for some inexplicable reason -- stored as base64.     Form, Redirect and Forward all send an unauthenticated user to a Form on a login page specified within an Authkit middleware application. I'd like to allow a client application to request a service via XHR and then present a custom 'client side' form if a HTTP status code of 401 is returned, which would then post to Authkit for authentication until valid authentication/authorization occured. Specifically, 1) a jquery $.get request might request a resource. 2) if an Authkit cookie check confirmed previous authorization the content would be returned. 3) if not I would like Authkit to simply return the '401 response' (and not redirect to another page, or return a form template) where a client side exception handler would notify the user and present an authentication form. Can Authkit work like this?

    Every month, 4 or 5 text files are created. The data in the files is pulled into MS Access and used in a mailmerge. Each file contains a header. The last field is the date in the form yymmdd. Using gawk (for Windows), I've done ok with rearranging/modifying the data and writing it all out to a new file for importing into Access except for the following. I'm trying to create a unique ID number for each record. The ID number has the form 1mmddyyXXXX, where XXXX is a number, padded with leading zeros. Using the header above, the first record in the output file would get the ID number 10106100001 and the last record would get the ID 10106100130. I've tried putting the second field in the header into a variable, rearranging the last header field into the required date format and then looping with "for" statements to append the XXXX part of the ID and then outputting it all with printf but so far I've been complete rubbish at it.
