  • Using recursion to find paths in a 2D array

    Hi, I'm working on a project for my A level. It involves finding the maximum flow of a network, and I'm using javascript. I have a 2D array, with values in the array representing a distance between the two points. An example of the array: 0 2 2 0 0 0 1 2 0 0 0 2 0 0 0 0 I think I need to use a recursive technique to find a path; below is some pseudocode, assuming that the array is 4x4. a is (0,0), b is (3,3). function search(a,b) from a to b if element(i,j) != 0 then store value of element search(j,3) I was wondering if that was the right construction for a depth first search. Thanks for any help.

  • Which software for intranet CMS - Django or Joomla?

    In my company we are thinking of moving from wiki style intranet to a more bespoke CMS solution. Natural choice would be Joomla, but we have a specific architecture. There is a few hundred people who will use the system. System should be self explainable (easier than wiki). We use a lot of tools web, applications and integrated within 3rd party software. The superior element which is a glue for all of them is API. In example for the intranet tools we do use Django, but it's used without ORM, kind of limited to templates and url - every application has an adequate methods within our API. We do not use the Django admin interface, because it is hardly dependent on ORM. Because of that Joomla may be hard to integrate. Every employee should be able to edit most of the pages, authentication and privileges have to be managed by our API. How hard is it to plug Joomla to use a different authentication process? (extension only - no hacks) If one knows Django better than Joomla, should Django be used?

  • Alligator tags(<% %>) inside js string?

    I am trying to redirect a page reading the url from the config file. However, when I try this: <script type="text/javascript"> <%string redirectUrl = System.Web.Configuration.WebConfigurationManager.AppSettings["RedirectURL"];%> window.parent.location.replace("<%=redirectUrl%>"); </script> the alligator tags <% % are Not being highlighted, and when I run I get the following error in the yellow screen: the controls collection cannot be modified because the control contains code blocks (i.e. <% ... %>). What am I doing wrong?? Thanks!

    In a comparison operator: template<class R1, class R2> bool operator==(Manager<R1> m1, Manager<R2> m2) { return p1.internal_field == p2.internal_field; } Is there any way I could enforce that R1 and R2 must have a supertype or subtype relation? That is, I'd like to allow either R1 to be derived from R2, or R2 to be derived from R1, but disallow the comparison if R1 and R2 are unrelated types.

  • How do I stop IIS7 from putting out its own 404 before my MVC app gets a chance to handle it?

    I have an ASP.NET MVC 2 application, which has an Application_Error event handler in global.asax. In this, I'm detecting the case where the Exception type is HttpException and the HTTP code is 404, and redirecting to my own 404-handling page. This works fine on my Cassini development server, but now I'm trying to move it over to my production server which has IIS7. When I request a non-existent URL, IIS7 is showing its own 404 page, and so far as I can tell, my Application_Error method is never called. How do I fix that?

  • Is HTML5 the new buzzword? ( Web 2.0 was the old one )

    Your thoughts on this? I'm hearing more and more people saying things like: "Is it html 5 compatible" "Can I make my website html 5" "Other html 5 question here..." What do you guys think? Is html5 the new buzzword? Obviously, it's more than a fad. It is the way things are going. But it seems like it's catching on in the mainstream. I don't think it will get as big as Web 2.0, mind you. Thought I'd ask a light question this Tuesday

  • Using Apache Camel how do I unmarshal my deserialized object that comes in through a CXF Endpoint?

    I have a very simple camel route. It starts with a CXF Endpoint exposed as a web service. I then want to convert it to xml and call a method on a bean. Currently i'm getting a CXF specific object after the web service call. How do I take my serialized object out of the CXF MessageList and use it going forward?     I have a question which may be somewhat silly because I'm pretty sure I may know the answer already. Suppose you have static library A, and dynamic shared object library B and your program C under linux. Suppose that library A calls functions from library B and your program calls functions from library A. Now suppose that all functions that C calls in A make no use of functions in B. To compile C will it be enough to link just A and omit B and furthermore can your program C be run on a system without library B installed?

  • LINQ – SequenceEqual() method

    I have been looking at LINQ extension methods and have blogged about what I learned from them in my blog space. Next in line is the SequenceEqual() method. Here’s the description about this method: “Determines whether two sequences are equal by comparing the elements by using the default equality comparer for their type.” Let’s play with some code: 1: int[] numbers = { 5, 4, 1, 3, 9, 8, 6, 7, 2, 0 }; 2: // int[] numbersCopy = numbers; 3: int[] numbersCopy = { 5, 4, 1, 3, 9, 8, 6, 7, 2, 0 }; 4:  5: Console.WriteLine(numbers.SequenceEqual(numbersCopy)); This gives an output of ‘True’ – basically compares each of the elements in the two arrays and returns true in this case. The result is same even if you uncomment line 2 and comment line 3 (I didn’t need to say that now did I?). So then what happens for custom types? But lets take one simple step at a time. Ok first thing you’ve noticed is that the class implements IEquatable<Product> interface – the key step towards achieving our goal. This interface provides us with an ‘Equals’ method to perform the test for equality with another Product object, in this case. This method is called in the following situations: when you do a ProductInstance.Equals(AnotherProductInstance) and when you perform actions like Contains<T>, IndexOf() or Remove() on your collection Coming to the Equals method defined line 14 onwards. The two ‘if’ blocks check for null and referential equality using the ReferenceEquals() method defined in the Object class. Line 23 is where I’m doing the actual check on the properties of the Product instances. This is what returns the ‘True’ for us when we run the application. I have also overridden the Object.Equals() method which calls the Equals() method of the interface. One thing to remember is that anytime you override the Equals() method, its’ a good practice to override the GetHashCode() method and overload the ‘==’ and the ‘!=’ operators. For detailed information on this, please read this and this. Since we’ve overloaded the operators as well, we get ‘True’ when we do actions like: 1: Console.WriteLine(products1.Contains(products2[0])); 2: Console.WriteLine(products1[0] == products2[0]); This completes the full circle on the SequenceEqual() method.   • LINQ – Skip() and Take() methods

    I had this issue recently where I have an array of integers and I’m doing some Skip(n) and then a Take(m) on the collection. Here’s an abstraction of the code: 1: int[] numbers = { 5, 4, 1, 3, 9, 8, 6, 7, 2, 0 }; 2: var taken = numbers.Skip(3).Take(3); 3: foreach (var i in taken) 4: { 5: Console.WriteLine(i); 6: } The output is as expected: 3, 9, 8 – skip the first three and then take the next three items. But, what happens if I do something like: 1: var taken = numbers.Skip(7).Take(5); In English – skip the first seven and the take the next 5 items from an array that contains only 10 elements. Think it’ll throw the IndexOutOfRangeException exception? Nope. These extension methods are a little smarter than that. Even though the user has requested more elements than what exists in the collection, the Take method only returns the first three thereby making the output of the program as: 7, 2, 0. The scenario is handled similarly when you do: 1: var taken = numbers.Take(5).Skip(7); This one takes the first 5 elements from the numbers array and then skips 7 of them. This is what is looks like in the debug mode: Just wanted to share this behavior.

  • Listing group members using ldapsearch

    Our corporate LDAP directory is housed on a Snow Leopard Server Open Directory setup. I'm trying to use the ldapsearch tool to export an .ldif file to import into another external LDAP server to authenticate with externally; basically trying to be able to use the same credentials internally and externally. I've got ldapsearch working and giving me the contents and attributes of everything in the "Users" OU, and even filtering down to only the attributes I need: ldapsearch -xLLL -H ldap://server.domain.net / -b "cn=users,dc=server,dc=domain,dc=net" objectClass / uid uidNumber cn userPassword > directorycontents.ldif That gives me a list of users and properties that I can import to my remote OpenLDAP server. dn: uid=username1,cn=users,dc=server,dc=domain,dc=net objectClass: inetOrgPerson objectClass: posixAccount objectClass: organizationalPerson uidNumber: 1000 uid: username1 userPassword:: (hashedpassword) cn: username1 However, when I try the same query on an OD "group" instead of a "container," the results are something like this: dn: cn=groupname,cn=groups,dc=server,dc=domain,dc=net objectClass: posixGroup objectClass: apple-group objectClass: extensibleObject objectClass: top gidNumber: 1032 cn: groupname memberUid: username1 memberUid: username2 memberUid: username3 What I really want is a list of users from the top example filtered based on their group memberships, but it looks like membership is set from the Group side, rather than the user account side. There must be a way to filter this down and only export what I need, right?

  • Is there a utility that will let me write to an Excel 2007 .xlsm file with macros enabled?

    I am writing a program that writes to Excel files. I am restricted to writing to Excel 2007, which is fine, and I'm using EPPlus, which is a great utility. The thing is that I need to have macros and VBA enabled for an update function in the sheet, but EPPlus will only write to .xlsx files, not macro-enabled .xlsm files. If I try to write to .xlsm files it won't open. Is there another code library that lets me accomplish what I need (again that's writing to Excell 2007 Macro-enabled workbooks)?

  • How can I listen to multiple Serial Ports asynchronously in C#

    I have an application that listens to a piece of hardware on a USB to Serial converter. My application should monitor more than one serial port at the same time. I loop the serial ports I need to listen to, and create a thread for each port. In the thread I have my data handing routine. When I assign one port, it runs flawlessly. When I listen to the other one, it also works. When I open both ports however, the second port always throws an UnauthorizedAccessException when calling serialPort.Open(). It does not matter in what order I open the ports, the second one always fails. I listen to the ports using serialPort.ReadLine() in a while loop. Can .NET open more than one port at the same time? Can I listen to both? Or should I use another (thread safe?) way to access my serial port events?
