  • COMException when trying to use a Library

    Hi Guys, I have an ASP.net WebService which uses a Library, this has a dependency on some third party .dlls. If I add a reference to the Library to my webservice, I get a COMException and I can't load the site. I thought it may be to do with aspnet user credentials, so I have tried impersonating and using processModel in machine.config but nothing seems to work. The .dlls are for communicating with hardware so I am not even using them on the server just other parts of the library, is there any way I can fix this? I'm running on Windows XP Pro SP3 with Visual 2008 SP1 and .net 3.5. I am thinking the only way of fixing it, is to split up the library into hardware and non-hardware based.   • Windows with Plesk Panel installs ActiveState Python 2.5.0 - any thoughts?

    I expect to run Pylons on a Windows Server 2003 and IIS 6 on a Virtual Private Server (VPS). Most work with the VPS is done through the Plesk 8.6 panel. The Plesk panel has a lot of maintenance advantages for us. However, this Plesk configuration installs ActiveState Python 2.5.0. The Parallels Plesk documents for 8.6 and version 9 insist that only this configuration should be installed. I'm not eager to settle for the baseline 2.5.0. but don't see any safe upgrade path. How has ActiveState Python 2.5.0 been for other users? Can you replace the Parallels\Plesk\Additional\Python with another distribution? I don't want to break Plesk, please. Previously, I followed these instructions, Serving a Pylons app with IIS - Pylons Cookbook Using the default web site IP address, I had Python 2.6.3 installing the ISAPI-WSGI dll in IIS so that I successfully ran Pylons in a virutalenv through IIS using the IP address, no domain name. I would be so happy if I could run this successful configuration for my domains while I must use Plesk. Tips and solutions appreciated.

    Hello, I have written code to run the printer programatically in Java.I have to set the value of docflavor to print the .txt file.When I set it for INPUT_STREAM.TEXT_PLAIN_UTF_8 and run my program on Linux , it prints the text file.but when i run the same code for windows.It can't print the text file.It only prints the jpeg format file.I am using HP Deskjet F735 printer for this.   • Pathfinding Algorithm For Pacman

    Hi, I wanted to implement the game Pacman. For the AI, I was thinking of using the A* algorithm, having seen it on numerous forums. However, I implemented the Breadth First Search for some simple pathfinding (going from point a to point b with certain obstacles in between) and found it gave the optimum path always. I guess it might be because in a game like pacman which uses simple pathfinding, there is no notion of costs in the graph. So, will it be OK if I use BFS instead of A* for pathfinding in Pacman?

  • Running msiexec from a service (Local System account)

    We are working on an update system for our software. The updater should in the background as a service, and when an update is available, downloads and installs it. We need the service to install the update since the msi requires elevation to run, but some of our clients will be restricted users. The MSI is a WIX MSI and does a Major Upgrade when run. The problem is, the update does not seem to work when ran from our service. I can see msiexec run, and it returns successfully, but seems to make no changes to the system. The same command, when run from my user account works as expected. Is there some caveat to running msiexec from a Local System service?   • How to program a real-time accurate audio sequencer on the iphone?

    Hi... I want to program a simple audio sequencer on the iphone but I can't get accurate timing. The last days I tried all possible audio techniques on the iphone, starting from AudioServicesPlaySystemSound and AVAudioPlayer and OpenAL to AudioQueues. In my last attempt I tried the CocosDenshion sound engine which uses openAL and allows to load sounds into multiple buffers and then play them whenever needed. As soon as something else happens (i.g. drawing in a view) it goes out of sync. As I understand the sound engine and openAL the buffers are loaded (in the init code) and then are ready to start immediately with alSourcePlay(source); - so the problem may be with NSTimer? Now there are dozens of sound sequencer apps in the appstore and they have accurate timing. I.g. "idrum" has a perfect stable beat even in 180 bpm when zooming and drawing is done.     I just configured my NHibValidator. My NHibernate creates the DB schema. When I set MaxLenght="20" to some property of a class then in the database the length appears in the database column. I am doing this in the NHibValidator xml file. But the problem is that I have components and cannot figure out how to achieve this behaviour. The component is configured correctly in the Customer.hbm.xml file. EDIT: Well, I found that Hibernate Validator users had the same problem two years ago. http://opensource.atlassian.com/projects/hibernate/browse/HV-25 Is this an issue for NHibernate Validator or it is fixed.   • Basic Contact Form in PHP

    I'm working on a contact form for my church website. The church has an email already registered (it's POP3) and the hosting company says their mail server is mymail.brinkster.com . With all that information, how can you send the form using mail()? The server won't show PHP errors. The current code looks like this: $headers = 'MIME-Version: 1.0' .   • SCSI drives not showing up in Linux CentOS 4

    So I have a poweredge 6650 with Perc 3 installed. on the first channel of raid controller I have 2x 73gb configured in raid 1. On the second channel I have two 300GB drives that are stand alone. The two 300gb drives do not show up in linux, (no /dev/sdb*)... Can perc 3 support non-raid and raid drives combined? Is there any settings I may be missing? Thanks in advance :)

  • SQL Server compatibility mode not logged

    I've been researching a problem which was diagnosed as someone changing the compatability mode for the SQL Server database from 80 to 90 on SQL Server 2005 for a database which had it's compatibility mode set to 80 due to legacy stored procedure code not having been upgraded. I found that when changing the compatibility mode this is not logged in the SQL Server logs. Has anyone seen this issue and is this a bug or is there an alternative method to track these changes?

    Hello everybody, I've been trying to find a python code that would log in to my mail box on yahoo.com from "Google App Engine". That log-in form contains two fields, one for users' Yahoo! ID and another one is for users' password. However, when I tried this code out (substituting mu real Yahoo login for 'my-login-here' and my real password for 'my-password-here'), it just return the log-in form back to me, which means that something didn't work right. Another supporter suggested that I should send an MD5 hash of my password, rather than a plain password.   • Upgrading Windows 7 on a new Netbook - Problems

    I know this seems like a repeat of a question but i didn't get a clear answer from reading the other questions so im going to ask mine and hope i hear back good news. I bought an Acer Aspire one netbook with windows 7 starter. I have a DVD of Windows 7 Professional(x86) from MSNDAA through my college but when i tried to install it, i was given an error saying that i could only upgrade through the "Windows Anytime Upgrade" Though, it only gives me the options of paying for an upgrade, which im not willing to do, or putting in an upgrade key. I have a legitimate product key for windows 7 but it does not work for upgrading and the DVD does not allow for it. Am i doing something wrong? is there another option? can i convert my product key to an upgrade key ? Im up for any option, windows 7 starter is pretty limited in its features...

    Hi everyone, I tried the jQuery fadeIn animation in all browsers and it work good, but not that much on IE. the Alpha png images are so creepy after appending the CSS opacity, but i have an idea and i don't know how to implement it using jQuery. The idea is to fadeIn the element and when the animation is finished it will automatically remove the opacity property in order to make the picture quality better. How to do that? Note: i'm using Animate and not FadeIn. Thanks
