  • Is writing eSQL database independent or not?

    Using EF we can use LINQ to read data which is rather simple (especially using fluent calls), but we have less control unless we write eSQL on our own. Is writing eSQL actually data store independent code? So if we decide to change data store, can the same statements still be used? Does writing eSQL strings in your code pose any serious security threats similar to writing TSQL statements as plain strings in C# code? That's why SPs are recommended. Could we still move eSQL scripts outside of code and use some other technique to make them a bit more secure?

  • Why are my basic Heroku Apps Taking 2 seconds to load?

    I have created two very simple heroku apps to test out the service, but it's often taking several seconds to load the page when I first visit them: Cropify - Basic Sinatra App (on github) Textile2HTML - Even more basic Sinatra App (on github) All I did was create a simple sinatra app and deploy it. I haven't done anything to mess with or test the heroku servers. What can I do to improve response time? It's very slow right now and I'm not sure where to start. The code for the projects are on github if that helps. Thanks so much.

    Howdy, When trying to connect to a ESXi server using the VMWare vShere Client I get an error: Error parsing the server "server" "clients.xml" file. Login will continue, contact your system administrator. Followed by: The type initializer for 'VirtualInfrastructure.Utils.HttpWebRequestProxy' threw an exception. Any clues to fix this?   • codeIgniter: pass parameter to a select query from previous query

    I'm creating a little management tool for the browser game travian. So I select all the villages from the database and I want to display some content that's unique to each of the villages. But in order to query for those unique details I need to pass the id of the village.   • Can't get Secondary UITableViewController to display inside a UITabBarController

    I've programmatically created a UITabBarController that is loaded in my App Delegate like this: - (void)applicationDidFinishLaunching:(UIApplication *)application { tabBarController = [[UITabBarController alloc] init]; myTableViewController = [[MyTableViewController alloc] init]; UINavigationController *tableNavController = [[[UINavigationController alloc] initWithRootViewController:myTableViewController] autorelease]; myTableViewController.title = @"Tab 1"; [myTableViewController release]; mySecondTableViewController = [[MySecondTableViewController alloc] init]; UINavigationController *table2NavController = [[[UINavigationController alloc] initWithRootViewController:mySecondTableViewController] autorelease]; mySecondTableViewController.title = @"Tab 2"; [mySecondTableViewController release]; tabBarController.viewControllers = [NSArray arrayWithObjects:tableNavController, table2NavController, nil]; [window addSubview:tabBarController.view]; [window makeKeyAndVisible]; } Now the issue I have is that I can get into the views no problem, but when I try and click onto any item in the Table View, I can't get a secondary table view to appear in any tab. The tabs work absolutely fine, just the secondary views. I'm using the code below in my myTableViewController to run when selecting a specific row (the code reaches the HELP line, and crashes)... - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { NSUInteger row = [indexPath row]; // this gets the correct view controller from a list of controllers SecondaryViewController *svc = [self.controllers objectAtIndex:row]; /*** HELP NEEDED WITH THIS LINE ***/ [self.navigationController pushViewController:svc animated:YES]; } Simply put, I'm trying to switch views to the new view controller whilst keeping the tabs available and using the navigation to go back and forth (like in the iTunes App).   • How to get PHP command line to work with PDO?

    I want to work with PDO, through PHP command line. It works perfect through the PHP web API, but not through the command line. But when I execute the command: php test.php, it says unknown class PDO. I think it has something to do with the thread-safety difference.   • pager problem with drupal and taxonomy

    Ok, so this is probably a silly question, but i thought i'd put it out there anyway: I know it's a strange solution to a simple problem, but i needed to control the listing of the nodes in the taxonomy pages, which i didn't feel i got the traditional way. So i went ahead and created a module that fetches the nodes based on taxonomy (taxonomy_select_nodes()), and i wanted a pager to go along with that. Here's the code: function theModule_recipeList(){ $path = drupal_get_path_alias($_GET['q']); $args = explode("/",$path); $themePath = drupal_get_path("theme", "theTheme"); $term = taxonomy_get_term_by_name($args[1]); $tid = $term[0]->tid; $nodes = taxonomy_select_nodes(array($tid)); $output = "<div id='recipeListWrapper'>"; while($row = db_fetch_object($nodes)){ $node = node_load($row->nid); if($node->uid != 1){ $userClass="user"; } else{ $userClass="admin"; } $output .= " <div class='receptThumbnailWrapper'> <div class='wrapper'> <img src='".base_path().$themePath."/graphics/recept-default-small.png' /> <h3><a href='".base_path() . $node->path."'>".$node->title."</a></h3> <div class='recipeType $userClass'></div> </div> </div> "; } $output .= "</div>"; return $output; } Now, the module works as i planned and all (even though it is a duct tape sort of solution, i know), and the pager prints and works. The problem is that the pager prints before anything else. I suspect that it is because i call taxonomy_select_nodes before $output is returned, but i need it to get the nodes i want.   • I don't want to convert solution files when switching from Visual Studio 2008-2010. How?

    I just got a new work laptop. I want to run Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2. However, the rest of my team is using Visual Studio 2008 with .Net 3.5, and I don't want to check-in the solution migration code into TFS. In fact, I don't want any migration code at all - I just want to use the old .NET Framework with our old solution, with the new IDE. How can I do this? Is this possible? Thank you!

  • Problems with deploying JSF project from Netbeans to Tomcat

    Hi! Googled everything, but can't find solution for my problem. When i'm trying to deploy my project to Tomcat, i have such errors in Tomcat log: SEVERE: Error configuring application listener of class com.sun.faces.config.ConfigureListener java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: javax/servlet/ServletRequestListener I tried to deploy it from fresh Netbeans 6.8 to fresh Tomcat 6.0.26, but the problem is still there. Servlet-api.jar is in the tomcat/lib folder. Tried to replace it with the newest, but problem is still there. No compilation errors. Everything is correct. Problem started suddenly. No code changes, no new jars added. Help? UPD: contents of WEB-INF/lib: hibernate3.jar hibernate-testing.jar quartz-1.7.2.jar quartz-all-1.7.2 servlet-api-2.5-20081211
