• How to download streaming video from a flash player (arte)?

  there are a couple of concerts that I would very much like to view from Arte (I think it's a french TV channel?) but my connection is not good enough to stream the video. How can I download the file to play it locally? Here is an example link: http://www.my-jazzlive.tv/?p=1862 I have tried popular browser plugins such as DownloadHelper and Flash Video Downloader, these are working fine for me on sites such as youtube but they don't seem to recognise any stream from the Arte video player. I also looked through /tmp for something that looks like a partially downloaded video, but no luck.

• How do I theme the Nautilus background image?

  I want to change the background image in the Nautilus file browser. My idea is to put my own style in the background. I'm using Ubuntu 11.10 and Nautilus is version 3. I know that I have to change the nautilus.css file of the theme, but the problem is that there is not a parameter for the background. I just want to apply an image but I can't find the file or parameter to change it. The CSS file is in the directory /home/UserName/.theme/MyTheme/gtk-3.0/apps. I've changed the nautilus.css file. I wrote two new lines using CSS style but I don't know where the correct place is to put it. The lines are: background-image: url("carbon.jpg"); background-repeat: repeat; Obviously I put the image called carbon.jpg in the same directory of nautilus.css, but this change doesn't work because I need to know whichs class displays the Nautilus file browsing frame. If I find this class I guess that this code will work. If someone knows how to do it, please tell me because I really want to make this change.

• Dedicated GRUB2 Partition and Windows 8

  Ok so as many of you may know the Windows 8 developer preview was released today and as such I'm very eager to use it but I have both Ubuntu and Windows 7 installed on my machine. I don't want to disturb these drives and have recently set up a dedicated grub partition on /media/sdb8 My question is if I install windows 8 will it overwrite the grub partition and if so what are the steps I should take to recover it.

• Root Domain Redirects Incorrectly To Https instead of to WWW

  TL;DR - Why do visits to my website homepage work without "www", but not to specific pages on it? I recently moved my website (Zappable.com) to a new webhost, RedHat's OpenShift (a PAAS). It requires using Cname records to setup custom domains, something my domain name registar (1&1) does not support without a hosting plan. So instead I setup Cloudflare in-between my domain and web host, and setup a Cname record on it. I then pointed a 1&1 "www" sub-domain to CloudFlare, and then pointed my 1&1 root to "www" sub-domain. This works fine for visiting to my homepage, but for some reason it does not work when visiting a specific page without "www". Instead of adding "www", it goes to HTTPS, which is strange.

• Rebuilt website from static html to CMS need to redirect indexed links

I need to find a way of redirecting all the existing links to there new corresponding pages which utilise friendly URL rewrites on the CMS based website I imagine there will be several hundred if not 1000s as i have pages and images linked from google. • Remove Border From Smiles in Post [migrated]

  Hello i am finally getting to grips with CSS after about 4 years of picking it up as i go. This problem though has had me stumped for a few hours now so ive gave up and decided to ask for some help and learn from it that way. • Deleting Pages and SEO

  I am in the process of re-designing my website. I will be changing the URL structure of several pages and in some cases the pages are going to be deleted as they are no longer necessary or obsolete. My question is this: I do not want to effect any SEO by having a lot of 404 errors pop-up. For the pages that I am changing the URL I will set 301 redirects but how do I handle the pages that I am deleting outright and have no redirects? From my understanding if those pages start showing 404s it will hurt SEO. Is this correct? How do I handle deletion of pages?

• Google Analytics Goal Tracking for Sub-Domains?

  I am trying to track goals in Google Analytics for a website that has the goal URL on a sub-domain. The main domain for example is: domain.com and the sub-domain is my.domain.com. I have Google Analytics configured to track domains and all sub-domains and I've eve set up an advanced filter so I can see traffic to my sub-domains in Analytics. However, in goal tracking, you're supposed to put in the website URL after the front (so if it were domain.com/conversions/ you'd put in just /conversions/). However, since for me it would be my.domain.com/conversions/, how would I input that URL into Analytics to track? Would Analytics automatically determine the URL to be on the sub-domain? Thanks!

  I have a question about redirecting a subdomain of a blog hosted on Wordpress.com to an external URL. Given the following: 1) I own a domain name foobar.com purchased from another registrar (not from Wordpress.com). 2) I have purchased the Custom Domain option on Wordpress.com, and have completed the configuration to make foobar.com resolve to foobar.wordpress.com. 3) I will establish an external site for a store, such as store.yahoo.com/foobar. 4) I want to redirect the subdomain store.foobar.com to store.yahoo.com/foobar. How do I set up the Custom DNS records within Wordpress.com to accomplish this subdomain redirection, while leaving foobar.com pointed to my Wordpress blog? I suspect that the CNAME directive is involved, but I cannot figure out the required syntax. Thanks... JGB

  I was reading about this article - SEO preference for WWW or HTTP:// protocol redirection? Do www websites rank better than NON-www? I have same problem but I needed a help on this further. What about https:// How will this be treated? Is the redirect 301 sufficient to solve the problem? I have a SEO company that says if possible, i should not have redirect but I don't think this is visible? Does permanent redirect in any way have effect on SEO services if properly done? • HTML coding style: attribute starts on a new line

  sublvl's front end developer seems to have a strange coding style that I've never seen before. Every time they begin a new element, immediately after the element name they insert a line break. The first thing that appears on the next line is the first attribute of the element.   Ok so here is the deal currently this script outputs all the products in a parent category as well as the products in the child categories. What i would like to do is seperate the output based on child categories. All the child categories are in the array $children and the string $childs. • Automated Post-billing Service/Solution

  I'm trying to find a solution or service that will allow for my company to automatically take a customer's credit card information via the web to keep on file and bill against based on how much they have used the services we provide. We need a service that will also handle the payment processing as well. Note that this is not recurring billing. The bill at the end of each month won't be the same. Presently, we are having to take a customer's credit card information over the phone and manually input it into Quickbooks, but this just doesn't work for scalability. We will still be manually invoicing the customers, but we need automated credit card acceptance and storage without the liabilities involved with storing it on our own server. Solutions that integrate with Wordpress would be a plus.

• Calculating the correct particle angle in an outwards explosion

  I'm creating a simple particle explosion but am stuck in finding the correct angle to rotate my particle. The effect I'm going for is similar to this: Where each particle is going outwards from the point of origin and at the correct angle. This is what I currently have: As you can see, each particle is facing the same angle, but I'm having a little difficulty figuring out the correct angle. I have the vector for the point of emission and the new vector for each particle, how can I use this to calculate the angle? Some code for reference: private Particle CreateParticle() { ... • iOS Game Center - Quit turn-based games for previous version of app

  I have a game on the iOS App Store that uses Game Center for turn-based multiplayer (GKTurnBasedMatch). I recently updated the app with a new game mode and I had to change the network protocol for that to happen. As a result I marked my new version as incompatible with the old one. That is, you cannot see the old games within the new app and you cannot initiate a game with someone with the old version of the app. This works as expected. However: The old games remain active after updating. There seems to be no way to quit them. What is worse is that they still count to the maximum number of games you can start. I have been contacted by players that can only start 1-3 games without hitting the roof. Have anyone experienced this before? Is there any way to quit the games? Thanks in advance

• Updating "Inactive" Chunks

  In my game, the only chunks (4x4 areas of tiles) in memory are the ones that the player is in. However, chunks need to have updates applied to them over time. A (likely) well-known example would be MineCraft: even if the player isn't in a chunk, the wheat still needs to grow over time. My current solution is to call a method and pass in the time since the chunk was active.. but what if the chunk depends on nearby chunks for information, i.e. vines spreading or similar? Is there any reasonable solutions to this problem, or should I simply not depend on nearby chunks?

• How to get GameElements (RigidBody) size in Unity

  I've made a prefab consisting of a Cube which I've first scaled to more resemble a brick. There's also a Rigidbody added to the cube (in the prefab). Now I want to use that prefab in a c# script to make a wall out of multiple bricks. My question is, how can I access the dimensions of my brick (width, height, the z dimension size) so that in my script I can make bricks which are placed one next to the other (and then one on top of the other)? I've looked at the documentation for GameObject and Rigidbody but I can't find anything helpful. • How to build list of items available in World of Warcraft?

  There are a number of non-Blizzard sites that show a complete list of available items in World of Warcraft (such as wowhead, etc). I would like to know the best (easiest) way to compile a similar list. I believe some sites are based on user-entered input, which I would like to avoid. Looking at the lua API, it seems that there are functions to get a list of items, but it's not clear if I can just download everything (I remember a reference to throttling somewhere, can't find it now). Does anyone have code samples that would do this, or links to source? Also, Eve Online has made a database of items available (and I do mean SQL database file for download, not the Armory) - is there anything similar for Wow? I'm just looking for the names and stats, not the graphic icons.

• Get Python 2.7's 'json' to not throw an exception when it encounters random byte strings

  Trying to encode a a dict object into json using Python 2.7's json (ie: import json). The object has some byte strings in it that are "pickled" data using cPickle, so for json's purposes, they are basically random byte strings. I was using django.utils's simplejson and this worked fine. But I recently switched to Python 2.7 on google app engine and they don't seem to have simplejson available anymore. Now that I am using json, it throws an exception when it encounters bytes that aren't part of UTF-8. The error that I'm getting is: UnicodeDecodeError: 'utf8' codec can't decode byte 0x80 in position 0: invalid start byte It would be nice if it printed out a string of the character codes like the debugging might do, ie: \u0002]q\u0000U\u001201. But I really don't much care how it handles this data just as long as it doesn't throw an exception and continues serializing the information that it does recognize. How can I make this happen? • Google Maps or Open Street or Something Else

  I have been working on a concept for a while for a sports related website where users can record a location on a map and put that location into a category for a sport and then rate it by a metric or two. I want these metrics displayed on the map but then I want a link or button to view a full page description. I know that this is possible with Google Maps but I don't know a lot about Open Street Maps or other options. I am expecting around 50,000 views a day and am curious as to what the best option would be.

• How do would you use jQuery's .each() to apply the same script to each element with the same class?

  I have a with multiple cart items listed. I have a "x-men logo" looking remove button that I want to fade-in next to the item when the customer hovers over a cart item. I had no issue getting this to work when there is only one item in the list. However, when there are multiple items in the cart, the jQuery operates funky. It still does the fade in, but only when I hover over the last item in the cart, and of course all of the "remove X" images become visible. Argh... So i searched around and think the .each() is my savior. I have been trying to get it to work, with no luck. My script just breaks when I attempt to implement it. Anyone have any pointers on this *.each() thing and how to implement it into my script?* I have tried putting a cartItem.each(function(){ around the mouseEnter/mouseLeave events (and used some $(this) selectors to make it "make sense") and that didn't do anything. Tried some other things as well with no luck...
