  • How to proceed setting up a secondary mysql linux slave?

    I have a mysql database master and slave in production. I want to setup additional mysql slave. There is around 15 Terabyte of data in the database and there are MYISAM and InnoDB tables in the database. I am thinking of below options: Shutdown master database and copy the mysql data folder to secondary slave. Can Innodb tables be copied like this? Run flush table with read lock, scp the file to new slave and unlock the table and this is possible for myisam tables, can I do the same for innodb tables too? Thanks for looking at the question.

Is there a way to customize the alarm by specifying additional filters like "ERROR" message etc..I think it will be a useful thing to have. Anyone aware of such functionality in linux?   • Using VTD-XML to modify element text only

    Hi, I want to achieve below thing in vtd-xml xml modifier class. Original xml <xml> <element attr1='1' attr2='2' attr3='3'>text</element> </xml> int p = vn.getText() xm.updateToken(p, "new text"); But the code here is not modifying the text to new text. Any idea how to achieve this? Other option is to call xm.remove() and then add tag. But, I am not able to retain the attributes. Thank you Bala

I have installed cygwin in windows and want to configure ssh, to remotely connect to my laptop.   • Hadoop safemode recovery - taking lot of time

    Hi, We are running our cluster on Amazon EC2. we are using cloudera scripts to setup hadoop. On the master node, we start below services. 609 $AS_HADOOP '"$HADOOP_HOME"/bin/hadoop-daemon.sh start namenode' 610 $AS_HADOOP '"$HADOOP_HOME"/bin/hadoop-daemon.sh start secondarynamenode' 611 $AS_HADOOP '"$HADOOP_HOME"/bin/hadoop-daemon.sh start jobtracker' 612 613 $AS_HADOOP '"$HADOOP_HOME"/bin/hadoop dfsadmin -safemode wait' On the slave machine, we run the below services. 625 $AS_HADOOP '"$HADOOP_HOME"/bin/hadoop-daemon.sh start datanode' 626 $AS_HADOOP '"$HADOOP_HOME"/bin/hadoop-daemon.sh start tasktracker' The main problem we are facing is, hdfs safemode recovery is taking more than an hour and this is causing delays in our job completion. Below are the main log messages. 1. domU-12-31-39-0A-34-61.compute-1.internal 10/05/05 20:44:19 INFO ipc.Client: Retrying connect to server: ec2-184-73-64-64.compute-1.amazonaws.com/10.192.11.240:8020. Already tried 21 time(s). 2. The reported blocks 283634 needs additional 322258 blocks to reach the threshold 0.9990 of total blocks 606499. Safe mode will be turned off automatically. The first message is thrown in task trackers log because, job tracker is not started. job tracker didn't start because of hdfs safemode recovery. The second message is thrown during the recovery process. Is there something I am doing wrong? How much time does normal hdfs safemode recovery takes? Will there be any speedup, by not starting task trackers till job tracker is started? Are there any known hadoop problems on amazon cluster? Thanks for your help. Regards Bala Mudiam

    Hi, I have a shell script which is currently running and was running from past 8 hours. It will complete only by tomorrow evening. At the end of the program, it will print 2 million words to standard output. I am running the program on the screen. I forgot to redirect the output to a file. I know I won't be able to copy the data from the window. Is there a way to output the command to a file. I don't want to restart the program. Any thoughts?? Thank you. Bala

  • Java2d: JPanel set background color not working

    I am having the below code. public VizCanvas(){ { this.setBackground(Color.black); this.setSize(400,400); } } It worked fine and displays the panel in black background. But when I implement the paint method, which does nothing, the color changes to default color i.e gray. I tried to set graphics.setColor() but it didn't help. Thank you.

    Hi, I am planning to write web service in python. But, I found wsgi also does the similar thing. Which one can be preferred? Thank you Bala Update I am still confused. Please help. Better in my sense means: 1. Bug will be fixed periodically. 2. Chosen by most developers. 3. Additional features like authentication tokens like AWS, can be supported out of the box. 4. No strong dependency on version.( I see that wsgi requires python 2.6) 5. All python libraries will work out of the box. 6. Scalable in the future. 7. Future upgrade don't cause any issues. With my limited experience, I want these features. There might be some I might be missing. Thanks Bala Update I am sorry for all the confusion caused.     Hi, If I have a file myfile.py, which imports Class1 from file.py and file.py contains imports to different classes in file2.py, file3.py, file4.py. In my myfile.py, can I access these classes or do I need to again import file2.py, file3.py etc...     Hi, We are launching hadoop cluster on amazon ec2 and recently we are having network issues like master unable to connect to slave. We thought the reason is due to amazon throttling the network connections over a limit. So, we tried to establish a connection after a random delay from each slave node. But, that didn't help.     Hi, I am using Boto library to write scripts for automating our jobs on AWS. My script actually starts a hadoop cluster using cloudera scripts and then does some customization. I am having a problem with retries. Seems like very command in my script fails once couple of days. I started adding retry to all the commands, but then the code is very clumsy and difficult to maintain. what do people do in general. Thank you Bala
