why cannot use uncaught_exception in dtor?

Hi , Herb Sutter in his article http://www.gotw.ca/gotw/047.htm pointed out that we cannot use uncaught_exception in desturctor function, // Why the wrong solution is wrong // U::~U() { try { T t; // do work } catch( ... ) { // clean up } } If a U object is destroyed due to stack unwinding during to exception propagation, T::~T will fail to use the "code that could throw" path even though it safely could. but I write a test program, and T::~T in fact didn't use the "code that could throw" #include <exception> #include <iostream> using namespace std; class T { public: ~T() { if( !std::uncaught_exception() ) { cout<<"can throw"<<endl; throw 1; } else { cout<<"cannot throw"<<endl; } } }; struct U { ~U() { try { T t; } catch( ... ) { } } }; void f() { U u; throw 2; } int main() { try { f(); } catch(...) {} } output is : cannot throw did I miss something? The beginnings of a site here: http://qaa.miltonfame.org/ html and css pass validation tests Page displays fine in all Mac browsers I have tried (Safari, Firefox, Camino) Page displays fine in Windows 7 FireFox Nothing but background renders in Explorer 8 Windows 7 (and in other Explorer versions via screenshot services.) View Source shows that Explorer is getting the content - it's just not appearing on screen. No idea how to approach addressing this - any suggestions would REALLY be appreciated. Thanks a million.

Make Safari 5's location bar more like Omnibox or AwesomeBar

When searching for history or favorites, the search phrase has to be an exact substring of the URL or title. For example super awesome wouldn't match this page. Can the criteria be made more liberal? When an item that was matched by its title is selected from the suggestion list, the title is filled in in place of the URL. The filled in part sometimes starts from the middle of a URL or a title. Can either of these behaviors be changed? Can you redirect unresolved addresses to the default search engine or a custom URL? In Firefox you can go to about:config and set keyword.URL to http://www.google.com/search?btnI&q=. Can you remove or hide the web search field? In Camino, Cruz, and Fluid it can be resized to zero width.

iTunes Music Store Link Maker — how to search from within my app?

I'm writing a music reference app and for each album (pulled from last.fm) would like to link to the ITMS (if the album is in the store). iTunes link maker web tool http://apple.com/itunes/linkmaker/ is great for getting links for a known album but I need to access it programatically from within my app. This NSLog blogpost which is from 2003 but was referenced more recently in another question here seems to offer the only solution I've come across so far, suggesting to submit a query to: phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZSearch.woa/wa/advancedSearchResults? Put "itms://" before it and the link will work in iTunes, put "http://" before it and the link will work in Camino (Safari sometimes spits back a malformed XML error). The tags that are of importance are as follows: songTerm - song title artistTerm - artist name albumTerm - album name composerTerm - composer name term - all fields The suggestion is that would using http:// rather than itms:// the server will return an XML document of results instead of opening iTunes but either way I am sent directly to iTunes. Is it possible to get back a list of results?

<noscript> not working in Opera 11?

I am testing my noscript tags which display content when javascript is disabled, this works in Safari, Chrome, Firefox, Camino, IE6, IE7, IE8, IE9, basically everything but Opera (I'm running version 11, not sure if its isolated to that version). In Opera 11 nothing is displayed... is the noscript tag not supported? and what is the alternative? Nothing surprising: <noscript>Please enable JavaScript.</noscript> Located between the body tags. <html> <body> <script>alert('Hello World');</script> <noscript>Hello World!</noscript> </body> </html>

Safari's location bar (auto-suggest and web search)

Auto-suggest don't seem to work for queries with spaces. Am I missing something? If you select an item from the suggestion list that was matched by its title, the title is filled in before the address. Can you change it to work like in other browsers? SMRT disables searching by title completely. Can you combine Top Hit, History and Bookmarks into a single section? The preferences starting with DebugSafari4 don't work anymore. (Like DebugSafari4IncludeFancyURLCompletionList.) Can you direct unresolved addresses to something like google.com/search?q=?&btnI instead of ?.com? Like by changing keyword.URL in Firefox. Can you remove or hide the web search field? In Camino, Cruz and Fluid it can be resized to zero width. You can't circumvent the normal maximum ratio with InputFieldWidthRatio. AddressBarIncludesGoogle doesn't appear do anything in the current version. Are there fixes or workarounds to any of these? I'm lumping these issues together, because they are closely related — a lot of them were introduced when the location bar was redesigned in Safari 5. I'm also hoping to find something like an extension or a plugin that would replace the standard location bar.

keyup bindings not working in Firefox

Hi. You can see my project here - http://www.inluxphoto.com/custom/jsgallery/index.php I am attempting to make the left and right arrow keys move the slideshow. I was able to get it to work in all browsers by following exactly the instructions on the front page of jqueryfordesigners.com (sorry I am only allowed one link). However, it is necessary that the keyup be unbinded until the animation completes, so the user cannot do a quick double tap of the key, which breaks the show. This led me to the following function - function keyCommands() { //Bind Keys according to keyAssignments function keyCommandBind() { $(document.documentElement).bind('keyup', keyAssignments) } //Bind functions to specific keys function keyAssignments() { if (event.keyCode == 37) { leftArrow(); } if (event.keyCode == 39) { rightArrow(); } if (event.keyCode == 32) { spaceBar(); } } function leftArrow() { //unbind, do stuff, rebind } function rightArrow() { //unbind, do stuff, rebind } function spaceBar() { //unbind, do stuff, rebind } keyCommandBind(); } This works in all browsers except Firefox & Camino. Firebug tells me event (ie event.keyCode) is not defined. That's true, it's not defined, and I understand that. However I don't understand why, if it's not defined, does it work in all other browsers. How can I appropriately define this? Or, am I doing it wrong? Any help would be most appreciated, thanks for your time!
