  • How to create a smooth CATransition effect

    - by Futur
    The CATransition what i have implemented works really fine but not smooth, i could see the previous uiview screens during the transition, I am just doing this, CATransition *animation = [CATransition animation]; [animation setDuration:0.1]; [animation setType:kCATransitionPush]; [animation setSubtype:kCATransitionFromRight]; [animation setTimingFunction:[CAMediaTimingFunction functionWithName:kCAMediaTimingFunctionEaseInEaseOut]]; [[objView layer] addAnimation:animation forKey:@"SwitchToView"]; For moving forward and for moving back wards, CATransition *animation = [CATransition animation]; [animation setDuration:0.1]; [animation setType:kCATransitionPush]; [animation setSubtype:kCATransitionFromLeft]; [animation setTimingFunction:[CAMediaTimingFunction functionWithName:kCAMediaTimingFunctionEaseInEaseOut]]; [[objRemovableView layer] addAnimation:animation forKey:@"SwitchToView"]; The effect of sliding is not smooth, is there any other way we can do this which works very smooth? Please help

  • Using CATransition in a viewController

    - by eco_bach
    Hi I'm trying to implement the ViewTransitions code sample from Apple, but putting all the logic in my viewController instead of my applicationDelegate class. I'm getting a bizarre error when I try to compile. I'm importing QuartzCore in my viewcontroller implementation as #import _kCATransitionFade", referenced from: _kCATransitionFade$non_lazy_ptr in ViewTransitionsAsViewControllerViewController.o (maybe you meant: _kCATransitionFade$non_lazy_ptr) Anyone have any ideas?

  • Why are my CATransitions acting up?

    - by Regan
    I am using the following code to switch between views with CATransition. CATransition *applicationLoadViewIn = [CATransition animation]; [applicationLoadViewIn setDuration:20]; [applicationLoadViewIn setType:kCATransitionPush]; [applicationLoadViewIn setSubtype:kCATransitionFromTop]; [applicationLoadViewIn setTimingFunction:[CAMediaTimingFunction functionWithName:kCAMediaTimingFunctionEaseIn]]; ViewToSwitchTo *myviewcontroller = [[ViewToSwitchTo alloc] init]; [self.view.layer addAnimation:applicationLoadViewIn forKey:kCATransitionPush]; [self.view addSubview:myviewcontroller.view]; It functions mostly how I want it to. It pushes from the top like it should, however it for some reason acts strangely. First, the view I am switching to starts coming in from the bottom like it should, but for some reason, the view that I am switching FROM appears over the top of it with low opacity, so you see both of them. However, you also see the view that is coming in, shifted maybe 100 pixels upwards, on top of itself and the other view, once again with low opacity. Just before the halfway point of the the transition, everything works fine, you only see the view that is coming in and the view going out, doing what they should be doing. But slightly after the halfway point, the view I am switching to appears in its final destination, under the view I am switching from, and the view I am switching from has been reduced in opacity. What is going on here?

  • Why can I not add a animation to a UIImageView?

    - by Flocked
    Hello, Im trying to add a animation to a UIImageView, but it always fails. Why? Here is the code: //(…) UIImage *newImage = UIGraphicsGetImageFromCurrentImageContext(); animationImage = [[UIImageView alloc]initWithImage:newImage]; [self.view addSubview:animationImage]; CATransition *animation = [CATransition animation]; [animation setDelegate:self]; [animation setDuration:0.35]; [animation setTimingFunction:UIViewAnimationCurveEaseInOut]; animation.type = @"pageCurl"; animation.fillMode = kCAFillModeForwards; animation.endProgress = 0.58; [animation setRemovedOnCompletion:NO]; [[animationImage layer] addAnimation:animation forKey:@"pageCurlAnimation"];

  • addsubview animation works only first time

    - by Priya
    I am trying add subview with animation effect using the code which work fine for the first time below. CATransition *transition = [CATransition animation]; transition.duration = 1.0; transition.type = kCATransitionMoveIn; transition.subtype = kCATransitionFromRight; [newView.layer removeAllAnimations] [newView.layer addAnimation:transition forKey:nil]; [self.masterview addSubview:newView]; There is a back button in newView which removes the View from the superview. [newView removeFromSuperview]; Now when I try adding newView as subview again using the above code,its first adds the view as a subview(without animation) and again with animation.

  • CATransitionFade not working on newly added subviews

    - by David Liu
    For some reason, fading in new buttons using CATransition isn't working for me when it's a newly added button. The fade animation, however, is working on existing subviews. Code: // Add new button. CATransition *animation = [CATransition animation]; [animation setDuration:0.5]; [animation setType:kCATransitionFade]; [[button layer] addAnimation:animation forKey:@"fadeIn"]; [self.view addSubview:button]; // Enable previous button (Enabling fades in different type of background) if(toolbar.buttons.count != 0){ UIButton * prevButton = [toolbar.buttons objectAtIndex:(toolbar.buttons.count - 1)]; prevButton.enabled = YES; [[prevButton layer] addAnimation:animation forKey:@"fadeIn"]; }

  • How do I rotate only some views when working with a uinavigationcontroller as a tab of a uitabbarcon

    - by maxpower
    Here is a flow that I can not figure out how to work. ( when I state (working) it means that in that current state the rules for orientation for that view are working correctly) First View: TableView on the stack of a UINavigationController that is a tab of UITabBarController. TableView is only allowed to be portrait. (working) When you rotate the TableView to landscape a modal comes up with a custom UIView that is like a coverflow (which i'll explain the problem there in a moment). A Selection made on tableview pushes a UIScrollview on to the stack. UIScrollView is allowed all orientations. (working) When UIScrollView is in landscape mode and the user hits back they are taken to the custom UIView that is like the coverflow and only allows landscape. The problem is here. Because the UIScrollView allows full rotation it permitted the TableView to rotate as well to landscape. I have a method attached to a notification "UIDeviceOrientationDidChangeNotification" that checks to see if the custom view is the current controller and if it is and if the user has rotated back to portrait I need to pop the custom view and show the table view. The table view has to rotate back to portrait, which really is okay as long as the user doesn't see it. When I create custom animations it works pretty good except for some odd invisible black box that seems to rotate with the device right before I fade out the customview to the tableview. Further inorder to ensure that my tableview will rotate to portrait I have to allow the customview to support all orientations because the system looks to the current view (in my code) as to whether or not that app is allowed to rotate to a certain orientation. Because of this I many proposed solutions will show the customview rotating to portrait as the table view comes back to focus. My other problem is very similar. If you are viewing the tableview and rotate the modalview of the customview is presented. When you make a selection on this view it pushes the UIScrollview onto the stack, but because the Tableview only supports portrait the UIScrollview comes in in portrait while the device is in landscape mode. How can I overcome these awful blocks? This is my current attempt: When it comes to working with UITabBarController the system really only cares what the tabbarcontroller has to say about rotation. Currently whenever a view loads it reports it supported orientations. TabBarController.m - (BOOL)shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)interfaceOrientation { switch (self.supportedOrientation) { case SupportPortraitOrientation: [[UIApplication sharedApplication] setStatusBarHidden:NO animated:YES]; return (interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationPortrait); break; case SupportPortraitUpsideDownOrientation: [[UIApplication sharedApplication] setStatusBarHidden:NO animated:YES]; return (interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationPortraitUpsideDown); break; case SupportPortraitAllOrientation: [[UIApplication sharedApplication] setStatusBarHidden:NO animated:YES]; return (interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationPortrait || interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationPortraitUpsideDown); break; case SupportLandscapeLeftOrientation: [[UIApplication sharedApplication] setStatusBarHidden:YES animated:YES]; return (interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeLeft); break; case SupportLandscapeRightOrienation: [[UIApplication sharedApplication] setStatusBarHidden:YES animated:YES]; return (interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeRight); break; case SupportLandscapeAllOrientation: [[UIApplication sharedApplication] setStatusBarHidden:YES animated:YES]; return (interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeLeft || interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeRight); break; case SupportAllOrientation: if (interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeLeft || interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeRight) { [[UIApplication sharedApplication] setStatusBarHidden:YES animated:YES]; }else { //[[UIApplication sharedApplication] setStatusBarHidden:NO animated:YES]; } return YES; break; default: return (interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationPortrait); break; } } This block of code is part of my UINavigationController and is in a method that responds to the UIDeviceOrientationDidChangeNotification Notification. It is responsible for poping the customview and showing the tableview. There are two different versions in place that originally were for two different versions of the SDK but both are pretty close to solutions. The reason the first is not supported on 3.0 is for some reason you can't have a view showing and then showen as a modal view. Not sure if that is a bug or a feature. The second solution works pretty good except that I see an outer box rotating around the iphone. if ([[self topViewController] isKindOfClass:FlowViewController.class]) { NSString *iphoneVersion = [[UIDevice currentDevice] systemVersion]; double version = [iphoneVersion doubleValue]; if(version > 3.0){ //1st solution //if the delivered app is not built with the 3.1 SDK I don't think this will happen anyway //we need to test this [self presentModalViewController:self.flowViewController animated:NO]; //[self toInterfaceOrientation:UIDeviceOrientationPortrait animated:NO]; [self popViewControllerAnimated:NO]; [self setNavigationBarHidden:NO animated:NO]; [self dismissModalViewControllerAnimated:YES]; }else{ //2nd solution DLog(@"3.0!!"); //[self toInterfaceOrientation:UIDeviceOrientationPortrait animated:NO]; CATransition *transition = [CATransition animation]; transition.duration = 0.50; transition.timingFunction = [CAMediaTimingFunction functionWithName:kCAMediaTimingFunctionEaseInEaseOut]; transition.type = kCATransitionPush; transition.subtype = kCATransitionFade; CATransition *tabBarControllerLayer = [CATransition animation]; tabBarControllerLayer.duration = 0.50; tabBarControllerLayer.timingFunction = [CAMediaTimingFunction functionWithName:kCAMediaTimingFunctionEaseInEaseOut]; tabBarControllerLayer.type = kCATransitionPush; tabBarControllerLayer.subtype = kCATransitionFade; [self.tabBarController.view.layer addAnimation:transition forKey:kCATransition]; [self.view.layer addAnimation:transition forKey:kCATransition]; [self popViewControllerAnimated:NO]; [self setNavigationBarHidden:NO animated:NO]; } [self performSelector:@selector(resetFlow) withObject:nil afterDelay:0.75]; } I'm near convinced there is no solution except for manual rotation which messes up the keyboard rotation. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks.

  • Save a UIImageView using NSUSerDefaults

    - by Magician Software
    How do you save an Image using NSUSerDefaults The main image is set in IB, the secondary image is set here - (IBAction)changeImage { CATransition *fadeThing = [CATransition animation]; fadeThing.type = kCATransitionFade; fadeThing.subtype = kCATransitionFade; fadeThing.duration = 1; [CATransaction begin]; [background.layer addAnimation:fadeThing forKey:@"superCoolSloMoFadingAnimation"]; [background setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"Mainbackground.png"]]; [CATransaction commit]; I will have different actions for different images. Anyway of setting this up so I can use a toggle button maybe and change the image as well as save it Thanks

  • How to transform (rotate) a already exist CALayer/animation?

    - by Flocked
    Hello, I have added a CALayer to the UIView of my app: CATransition *animation = [CATransition animation]; [animation setDelegate:self]; [animation setDuration:0.35]; [animation setTimingFunction:UIViewAnimationCurveEaseInOut]; animation.type = @"pageCurl"; animation.fillMode = kCAFillModeForwards; animation.endProgress = 0.58; [animation setRemovedOnCompletion:NO]; [[self.view layer] addAnimation:animation forKey:@"pageCurlAnimation"]; Now when the user rotates the device, the layer always stays in the same position on the screen (in line to the homescreen button). Is it possible to rotate the animation/layer? I tried self.view.layer.transform = CGAffineTransformMakeRotation (angle); but this code just rotates the UIView and not the animation/layer I set.

  • What is the proper way to change the UINavigationController transition effect

    - by Felipe Sabino
    I have seen lots of people asking on how to push/pop UINavigationControllers using other animations besides the default one, like flip or curl. The problem is that either the question/answer was relative old, which means the have some things like [UIView beginAnimations:] (example here) or they use two very different approaches. The first is to use UIView's transitionFromView:toView:duration:options:completion: selector before pushing the controller (with the animation flag set to NO), like the following: UIViewController *ctrl = [[UIViewController alloc] init]; [UIView transitionFromView:self.view toView:ctrl.view duration:1 options:UIViewAnimationOptionTransitionFlipFromTop completion:nil]; [self.navigationController pushViewController:ctrl animated:NO]; Another one is to use CoreAnimation explicitly with a CATransaction like the following: // remember you will have to have the QuartzCore framework added to your project for this approach and also add <QuartzCore/QuartzCore.h> to the class this code is used CATransition* transition = [CATransition animation]; transition.timingFunction = [CAMediaTimingFunction functionWithName:kCAMediaTimingFunctionEaseIn]; transition.duration = 1.0f; transition.type = @"flip"; transition.subtype = @"fromTop"; [self.navigationController.view.layer removeAllAnimations]; [self.navigationController.view.layer addAnimation:transition forKey:kCATransition]; UIViewController *ctrl = [[UIViewController alloc] init]; [self.navigationController pushViewController:ctrl animated:NO]; There are pros and cons for both approaches. The first approach gives me a much cleaner code but restricts me from using animations like "suckEffect", "cube" and others. The second approach feels wrong just by looking at it. It starts by using undocumented transitions types (i.e. not present in the Common transition types documentation from CATransition Class Reference) which might get your app rejected from App Store (I mean might as I could not found any reference of apps being rejected because it was using this transactions, which I would also appreciate any clarification on this matter), but it gives you much more flexibility on your animations, as I can use other animation types such as "cameraIris", "rippleEffect" and so on. Regarding all that, do I really need to appeal for QuartzCore and CoreAnimation whenever I need a fancier UINavigationController transition? Is there any other way to accomplish the same effect using only UIKit? If not, will the use of string values like "flip" and "cube" instead of the pre-defined constants (kCATransitionFade, kCATransitionMoveIn, etc...) be an issue regarding my app approval in the App Store? Also, are there other pros and cons regarding both approaches that could help me deciding whether to choose each one of them?

  • How to perform kCATransitionPush animation without any transparency / fade effects

    - by Anthony
    I'm trying to duplicate the "slide up from the bottom" animation that [UIViewController presentModalViewController:animated:] performs but without calling it because I don't want a modal view. The below core animation code comes very close but appears to be changing transparency values of the views during it. At the start of the animation you can partially see through the view sliding up. By the middle/end of the animation the view we are sliding over is fully transparent so we can see behind it. I'd like both to remain fully opaque during this animation. Any ideas on how to stop transparency changes in this code or to otherwise get the "slide up animation" I am looking for without requiring a modal view? UIViewController *nextViewController = [[UIViewController alloc] autorelease]; nextViewController.view.backgroundColor = [UIColor redColor]; CATransition *animation = [CATransition animation]; animation.duration = 3.5; animation.timingFunction = [CAMediaTimingFunction functionWithName:kCAMediaTimingFunctionEaseInEaseOut]; animation.type = kCATransitionPush; animation.subtype = kCATransitionFromTop; [self.navigationController pushViewController:nextViewController animated:NO]; [self.navigationController.view.layer addAnimation:animation forKey:nil];

  • Correct way to switch between UIView with ARC. My way leads to memory leaks :( (iOS)

    - by Andrei Golubev
    i use xcode 4.4 with ARC on.. I have dynamically created UIViews in the ViewController.m: UIView*myviews[10]; Then in the - (void)viewDidLoad function i fill each of it with pictures i need myviews[viewIndex] = [[UIView alloc]initWithFrame:myrec]; UIImage *testImg; UIImageView * testImgView; testImg = [UIImage imageNamed:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"imgarray%d.png", viewIndex]; testImgView.image = testImg; viewindex++; So all seems to be fine, when i want to jump from one view to another i do with two buttons next: [self.view addSubview:views[viewIndex]]; CATransition *animation = [CATransition animation]; [animation setDelegate:self]; [animation setDuration:1.0f]; [animation setType:@"rippleEffect"]; [animation setSubtype:kCATransitionFromTop]; //[animation setTimingFunction:[CAMediaTimingFunction functionWithName:kCAMediaTimingFunctionEaseInEaseOut]]; [self.view.layer addAnimation:animation forKey:@"transitionViewAnimation"]; Nothing seems to be bad, but the memory consumption grows with huge speed when i switch between views.. and then i get low memory warning or sometimes application will just crash. I have tried to use UIViewController array and was switching between the controllers: nothing changes, the memory low warning is what i end up with.. Maybe i need to clean the memory somehow? But how? ARC does not allow to use release and so on.. last what i have tried (sorry, maybe not very professional) before to add new subview is this NSArray *viewsToRemove = [self.view subviews]; for (UIView *views in viewsToRemove) { [views removeFromSuperview]; } But this does not help either.. Please don't judge too strong, i am still new to iOS and Objective-c..

  • Iphone page curl effect

    - by dragon
    I am using this code for Page curl effect ....Its work fine in simulator and device... But its not (setType:@"pageCurl") apple documented api , this caused it to be rejected by the iPhone Developer Program during the App Store review process: animation = [CATransition animation]; [animation setDelegate:self]; [animation setDuration:1.0f]; animation.startProgress = 0.5; animation.endProgress = 1; [animation setTimingFunction:UIViewAnimationCurveEaseInOut]; [animation setType:@"pageCurl"]; [animation setSubtype:@"fromRight"]; [animation setRemovedOnCompletion:NO]; [animation setFillMode: @"extended"]; [animation setRemovedOnCompletion: NO]; [[imageView layer] addAnimation:animation forKey:@"pageFlipAnimation"]; So i changed and using like this [UIView beginAnimations:nil context:NULL]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:1]; [UIView setAnimationDelegate:self]; [UIView setAnimationBeginsFromCurrentState:YES]; [UIView setAnimationCurve:UIViewAnimationCurveLinear]; [UIView setAnimationWillStartSelector:@selector(transitionWillStart:finished:context:)]; [UIView setAnimationDidStopSelector:@selector(transitionDidStop:finished:context:)]; // other animation properties [UIView setAnimationTransition:UIViewAnimationTransitionCurlUp forView:imageView cache:YES]; // set view properties [UIView commitAnimations]; In this above code i want to stop the page curl effect at midway.. But i cant stop it in midway like map applications in ipod... Is this any fix for this? or Is there any apple documented methods used for page curl effect in ipod touch? I am searching lot. but didnt get any answer ? can anyone help me? Thanks in advance..plz

  • iPhone SDK: Progressive UITableView updates, smoothly animated

    - by boliva
    Hi all, There's something I've been trying to do with no success. I have an UITableView whose viewController is both its delegate and dataSource. On it I also have a mutableArray as a property, which basically acts as the tableView dataSource. This mutableArray gets continously updated from an online XML source. What I haven't been able to accomplish successfully is to animate the adding of new rows at the top of the tableView and the deletion of the oldest rows at its bottom (thinking I'll always going to show the same amount of data, say the latest 10 entries). The method I'm actually using is that, after finishing receiving and parsing the XML data I'm removing all the contents of the mutableArray and storing the new entries on it, to later reload the tableView (calling the 'reloadData' method). In between I'm using a CATransition in order to 'fade' the tableView from its previous to its new state. I tried using beginUpdates and endUpdates, with code for selectively removing the old rows from the tableView and adding the new ones to it, as well as to its datasource, however the animation takes place in the whole table instead of the affected rows only. What I want to accomplish is, after an update, to delete as many rows from the 'bottom' of the table as new entries I have retrieved, sliding the tableView down and adding the new rows at the top of it, smoothly animated. Best regards,

  • [Cocoa] Core Animation with an NSView and subviews

    - by ndg
    I've subclassed NSView to create a 'container' view (which I've called TRTransitionView) which is being used to house two subviews. At the click of a button, I want to transition one subview out of the parent view and transition the other in, using the Core Animation transition type: kCATransitionPush. For the most part, I have this working as you'd expect (here's a basic test project I threw together). The issue I'm seeing relates to resizing my window and then toggling between my two views. After resizing a window, my subviews will appear at seemingly random locations within my TRTransitionView. Additionally, it appears as if the TRTransitionView hasn't stretched correctly and is clipping the contents of its subviews. Ideally, I would like subviews anchored to the top-left of their parent view at all times, and to also grow to expand the size of the parent view. The second issue relates to an NSTableView I've placed in my first subview. When my window is resized, and my TRTransitionView resizes to match its new dimensions, my TableView seems to resize its content quite awkwardly (the entire table seems to jolt around) and the newly expanded space that the table now occupies seems to 'flash' (as if in the process of being animated). Extremely difficult to describe, but is there any way to stop this? Here's my TRTransitionView class: -(void) awakeFromNib { [self setWantsLayer:YES]; [self addSubview:[self currentView]]; transition = [CATransition animation]; [transition setType:kCATransitionPush]; [transition setSubtype:kCATransitionFromLeft]; [self setAnimations: [NSDictionary dictionaryWithObject:transition forKey:@"subviews"]]; } - (void)setCurrentView:(NSView*)newView { if (!currentView) { currentView = newView; return; } [[self animator] replaceSubview:currentView with:newView]; currentView = newView; } -(IBAction) switchToViewOne:(id)sender { [transition setSubtype:kCATransitionFromLeft]; [self setCurrentView:viewOne]; } -(IBAction) switchToViewTwo:(id)sender { [transition setSubtype:kCATransitionFromRight]; [self setCurrentView:viewTwo]; }

  • steps to fix a project that won't compile

    - by eco_bach
    Hi Pulling my hair out in trying to get a simple window based project to compile. I am running both 3.2.2 and 3.2.3 versions of Xcode. The latter is set up in a separate folder. Originally I used the latter to create and compile my project against the new 4.0 sdk. It compiled fine. Then I made the mistake of deleting some sdks I thought I no longer needed. Ever since I can no longer compile. Right now I get a dozen or so errors similar to the following "_OBJC_CLASS_$_CATransition", referenced from: objc-class-ref-to-CATransition in ViewTransitionsAppDelegate.o My active executable is the iphone simulator 4 and Base SDK is iPhone device 3.0. I tried reinstalling the xcode3.2.3 installer, no difference. I'm totally stymied, as my project WAS working and compiling fine, both to the simulator and external device. Are there any best practices or recommended steps in fixing or rebuilding a project when it won't compile? Any help welcome!
