  • CGAffineTransform does not rotate subview - MKAnnotationView, CGAffineTransformMakeRotation

    - by ZeroDiv
    I have a view that does 1 simple thing: draws an image. I can rotate the image like this: CGAffineTransform transform = CGAffineTransformMakeRotation((CGFloat)radians); self.transform = transform; // WORKS: DRAWS, ROTATES But if I delegate the image-drawing function to a subview, and apply the rotation transform to the subview: CGAffineTransform transform = CGAffineTransformMakeRotation((CGFloat)radians); self.imageView.transform = transform; // DOESN'T WORK: DRAWS, BUT NO ROTATE I get the image drawn, but no rotation. Why? FWIW the "self" view is an MKAnnotationView.

  • CONFUSING : CGAffineTransform - rotation on uibutton resizes buttonimage ?! (iPad)

    - by Michael
    hi there, i've got a strange problem using uibuttons, type custom. i'm placing 4 of those buttons on a scrollview, rotating each button by a random angle using CGAffineTransform. now it seems, that the buttons itself change size depending on the angle of rotation. can't get this problem solved :( UIGraphicsBeginImageContext(tempCtxSize); [cookbookImage drawInRect:CGRectMake(imgOffsetX, imgOffsetY+frmOffsetY, cookbookImage.size.width, cookbookImage.size.height)]; [cookbookFrame drawInRect:CGRectMake(0.0f, frmOffsetY, cookbookFrame.size.width, cookbookFrame.size.height)]; UIImage *combinedImage = UIGraphicsGetImageFromCurrentImageContext(); UIGraphicsEndImageContext(); ... ... UIButton *cookbookViewButton = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeCustom]; [cookbookViewButton setFrame:CGRectMake(0.0f, 0.0f, combinedImage.size.width, combinedImage.size.height)]; [cookbookViewButton setBackgroundColor:[UIColor clearColor]]; [cookbookViewButton setBackgroundImage:combinedImage forState:UIControlStateNormal]; CGAffineTransform rotation = [cookbookViewButton transform]; rotation = CGAffineTransformRotate(rotation, angle); // some random angle [cookbookViewButton setTransform:rotation]; thx for your help in advance!

  • Get size of UIView after applying CGAffineTransform

    - by Ican Zilb
    I was surprised not to find an answer to this question, maybe is something very simple I somehow overlook : How to get the real size of an UIView after I apply a CGAffineTransform to it? eg. my UIView has size 300 x 200, I apply a scaling transform let's say factor 2 both horizontal and vertical, so the UIView now takes 600 x 400 on the screen, but it's bounds and it's layer's bounds are still returning a size of 300 x 200 ... where do I find the real size of the UIView ?

  • iphone - making the CGAffineTransform permanent

    - by Mike
    I am banging my head on the wall here due to this problem: When I create a UIImageView this view has a certain orientation and size. Lets call this state "A". This view responds to taps. It can be dragged around the screen. At some point in the code I apply a CGAffineTransform to the view. Does not matter if the affine is a scale, a rotation, a translation or a combination of all. Does not matter also if the transform is absolute or relative. Not to mention the device can change its orientation and the view is autorotated to the correct orientation (that we can cay is a kind of rotation or transformation applied to the view). The problem is: the moment I touch that object or try to animate its transparency or any other parameter, it "remembers" the state "A" and does all animations from that state, not from current state. If I simply touch the view, it returns instantly to state "A". The code is not doing it by itself. It is an annoying "gift" from Apple. How to I make a view assume its current state of transformations as the reset or initial state? In other words, how do I make a view forget its past transformations or states? The only way I know is recreating the view, but this is a ridiculous way of doing this. Is there any way to make this work as I described? thanks

  • UIView surface Detection

    - by Sanjay Darshil
    In my code I crated two UIView View1 and View2 out of which View2 rotates on finger touch using CGAffineTransform and View1 is drawn like Arrow shaped (triangle) using CGContext. The View1 is steady view (fixed) which Points (shown directed Up) to the Surface of View2 , So I want to detect the View2 surface points when it stopped rotation and appears in front of the view1. How can I made this possible to detect the UIView Surface when it appears in front of another UIView?

  • iPhone Curl Left and Curl Right transitions

    - by Dimitris
    I am looking for a way to do a UIViewAnimationTransitionCurlUp or UIViewAnimationTransitionCurlDown transition on the iPhone but instead of top to bottom, do it from the left to right (or top/bottom in landscape mode). I've seen this asked aroud the internet a few times but none sems to get an answer. However I feel this is doable. I have tried changing the View's transform and the view.layer's transform but that didn't affect the transition. Since the transition changes when the device changes orientation I presume there is a way to fool the device to use the landscape transition in portrait mode and vice versa?

  • iPhone: scale UIView about a specific point

    - by Greg Maletic
    I want to animate the scaling down of a UIView, but not about its center: about a different point. As a shot in the dark, I tried translating the view, scaling, then translating back, using a series of CGAffineTransforms. But it doesn't work: it still scales about the center. Anyone know how to do this? Thanks very much.

    I have an UIImageView and I wanted to rotate it slightly in the anti-clock direction. But when I do that, rotation works. But the edges are not shared. Having a pixelated edges. How do I solve this issue. Please help. UIImageView *popupTop = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(10, 54, 300, 15)]; popupTop.image = [UIImage imageNamed:@"pover_note.png"]; [self.view addSubview:popupTop]; popupTop.transform = CGAffineTransformMakeRotation(-0.04);

  • zoomfactor value in CGAffineTransformMakeScale in iPhone

    - by suse
    Hello, 1) I'm doing pinch zoom on the UIImageView , how should i decide upon the zoomfactor value, because when the zoomfactor value goes beyond 0[i.e negative value]the image is gettig tilted, which i dont want it to happen. how to avoid this situation. 2) Y is the flickring kind of rotationis happening, Y not the smooth rotation? ll this be taken care by CGAffineTransformMakeScale(zoomfactor,zoomfactor);method? This is what i'm doing in my code: zoomFactor = 0;// Initially zoomfactor is set to zero - (void)touchesBegan:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event{ NSLog(@" Inside touchesBegan .................."); NSArray *twoTouches = [touches allObjects]; UITouch *first = [twoTouches objectAtIndex:0]; OPERATION = [self identifyOperation:touches :first]; NSLog(@"OPERATION : %d",OPERATION); if(OPERATION == OPERATION_PINCH){ //double touch pinch UITouch *second = [twoTouches objectAtIndex:1]; f_G_initialDistance = distanceBetweenPoints([first locationInView:self.view],[second locationInView:self.view]); } NSLog(@" leaving touchesBegan .................."); } - (void)touchesMoved:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { NSLog(@" Inside touchesMoved ................."); NSArray *twoTouchPoints = [touches allObjects]; if(OPERATION == OPERATION_PINCH){ CGFloat currentDistance = distanceBetweenPoints([[twoTouchPoints objectAtIndex:0] locationInView:self.view],[[twoTouchPoints objectAtIndex:1] locationInView:self.view]); int pinchOperation = [self identifyPinchOperation:f_G_initialDistance :currentDistance]; G_zoomFactor = [self calculateZoomFactor:pinchOperation :G_zoomFactor]; [uiImageView_G_obj setTransform:CGAffineTransformMakeScale(G_zoomFactor, G_zoomFactor)]; [self.view bringSubviewToFront:resetButton]; [self.view bringSubviewToFront:uiSlider_G_obj]; f_G_initialDistance = currentDistance; } NSLog(@" leaving touchesMoved .................."); } - (void)touchesEnded:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { NSLog(@" Inside touchesEnded .................."); NSArray *twoTouches = [touches allObjects]; UITouch *first = [twoTouches objectAtIndex:0]; if(OPERATION == OPERATION_PINCH){ //do nothing } NSLog(@" Leaving touchesEnded .................."); } Thank You.

  • How to resize the UIView when CGAffineTransformIdentity

    - by Gowtham
    I am doing an app which has a feature to rotate and re size a view. i have implemented this feature but i do face an issue. My problem The View wil be resized when dragging its four corners, after resizing it i can rotate the view in both directions. Once the rotation is done, if i try again to resize the view by dragging its corner, the view's size gone to unpredictable value and its moving all around the screen. I googled lot finally i got the following solution The frame property is undefined when transform != CGAffineTransformIdentity, as per the docs on UIView I saw one app which has implemented the feature exactly what i wish to implement. How can i resize the UIView after rotation of UIView My code for resize the view Touches Began - (void)touchesBegan:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event{ UITouch *touch = [[event allTouches] anyObject]; NSLog(@"[touch view]:::%@",[touch view]); touchStart = [[touches anyObject] locationInView:testVw]; isResizingLR = (testVw.bounds.size.width - touchStart.x < kResizeThumbSize && testVw.bounds.size.height - touchStart.y < kResizeThumbSize); isResizingUL = (touchStart.x <kResizeThumbSize && touchStart.y <kResizeThumbSize); isResizingUR = (testVw.bounds.size.width-touchStart.x < kResizeThumbSize && touchStart.y<kResizeThumbSize); isResizingLL = (touchStart.x <kResizeThumbSize && testVw.bounds.size.height -touchStart.y <kResizeThumbSize); } Touches Moved - (void)touchesMoved:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event{ CGPoint touchPoint = [[touches anyObject] locationInView:testVw]; CGPoint previous=[[touches anyObject]previousLocationInView:testVw]; float deltaWidth = touchPoint.x-previous.x; float deltaHeight = touchPoint.y-previous.y; NSLog(@"CVTM:%@",NSStringFromCGRect(testVw.frame)); if (isResizingLR) { testVw.frame = CGRectMake(testVw.frame.origin.x, testVw.frame.origin.y,touchPoint.x + deltaWidth, touchPoint.y + deltaWidth); } if (isResizingUL) { testVw.frame = CGRectMake(testVw.frame.origin.x + deltaWidth, testVw.frame.origin.y + deltaHeight, testVw.frame.size.width - deltaWidth, testVw.frame.size.height - deltaHeight); } if (isResizingUR) { testVw.frame = CGRectMake(testVw.frame.origin.x ,testVw.frame.origin.y + deltaHeight, testVw.frame.size.width + deltaWidth, testVw.frame.size.height - deltaHeight); } if (isResizingLL) { testVw.frame = CGRectMake(testVw.frame.origin.x + deltaWidth ,testVw.frame.origin.y , testVw.frame.size.width - deltaWidth, testVw.frame.size.height + deltaHeight); } if (!isResizingUL && !isResizingLR && !isResizingUR && !isResizingLL) { testVw.center = CGPointMake(testVw.center.x + touchPoint.x - touchStart.x,testVw.center.y + touchPoint.y - touchStart.y); } }

  • Affine Transforms with Demo App

    - by Dex
    I have a demo app here https://github.com/rdetert/image-transform-test After importing an image, you can pinch, zoom, rotate the image. What I want to do is save out a 640x480 image (landscape mode) that looks identical to the live preview. So if there are 100px bars of empty space on the sides, I need the same empty bars in the final output (scaled appropriately). This is proving to be more difficult than I thought it would be. I can't quite get it to come out right after days of working on it. The magic method that generates the final image is called -(void)generateFinalImage Good luck! ;)

  • Drawing scaled emoji icons on iOS

    - by Eimantas
    I'm trying to implement my own emoji icon keyboard and have some problems. I'm trying to draw emoji icons at the same size as on native iOS emoji keyboard, but when doing simple drawing (standard unicode characters like "\ue415") icons always appear at original size. When trying to increase the font - emoji icons stay of the same size. When applying CGAffineTransform for scaling - drawn icons are bigger, but pixelated and blurred. How should I go about drawing emoji icons bigger, but sharper?

  • Rotating and Moving a UIImageView (CocoaTouch)

    - by yar
    This code works to rotate: CGAffineTransform transform = CGAffineTransformMakeRotation(radians(lastAngle++)); anImage.transform = transform; and this code works to move my UIImageView CGRect frame = [anImage frame]; frame.origin.x+=1; frame.origin.y+=1; [anImage setFrame:frame]; but when I combine them, the image stretches out increasingly on each run through. Perhaps the frame should not be modified like this?

  • Implementing touch-based rotation in cocoa touch

    - by ewoo
    I am wondering what is the best way to implement rotation-based dragging movements in my iPhone application. I have a UIView that I wish to rotate around its centre, when the users finger is touch the view and they move it. Think of it like a dial that needs to be adjusted with the finger. The basic question comes down to: 1) Should I remember the initial angle and transform when touchesBegan is called, and then every time touchesMoved is called apply a new transform to the view based on the current position of the finger, e.g., something like: - (void)touchesBegan:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { UITouch *touch = [touches anyObject]; CGPoint currentPoint = [touch locationInView:self]; //current position of touch if (([touch view] == self) && [Utility getDistance:currentPoint toPoint:self.middle] <= ROTATE_RADIUS //middle is centre of view && [Utility getDistance:currentPoint toPoint:self.middle] >= MOVE_RADIUS) { //will be rotation gesture //remember state of view at beginning of touch CGPoint top = CGPointMake(self.middle.x, 0); self.initialTouch = currentPoint; self.initialAngle = angleBetweenLines(self.middle, top, self.middle, currentPoint); self.initialTransform = self.transform; } } - (void)touchesMoved:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event{ UITouch *touch = [touches anyObject]; CGPoint currentPoint = [touch locationInView:self]; //current position of touch if (([touch view] == self) && [Utility getDistance:currentPoint toPoint:self.middle] <= ROTATE_RADIUS && [Utility getDistance:currentPoint toPoint:self.middle] >= MOVE_RADIUS) { //a rotation gesture //rotate tile float newAngle = angleBetweenLines(self.middle, CGPointMake(self.middle.x, 0), self.middle, currentPoint); //touch angle float angleDif = newAngle - self.initialAngle; //work out dif between angle at beginning of touch and now. CGAffineTransform newTransform = CGAffineTransformRotate(self.initialTransform, angleDif); //create new transform self.transform = newTransform; //apply transform. } OR 2) Should I simply remember the last known position/angle, and rotate the view based on the difference in angle between that and now, e.g.,: - (void)touchesBegan:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { UITouch *touch = [touches anyObject]; CGPoint currentPoint = [touch locationInView:self]; //current position of touch if (([touch view] == self) && [Utility getDistance:currentPoint toPoint:self.middle] <= ROTATE_RADIUS && [Utility getDistance:currentPoint toPoint:self.middle] >= MOVE_RADIUS) { //will be rotation gesture //remember state of view at beginning of touch CGPoint top = CGPointMake(self.middle.x, 0); self.lastTouch = currentPoint; self.lastAngle = angleBetweenLines(self.middle, top, self.middle, currentPoint); } } - (void)touchesMoved:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event{ UITouch *touch = [touches anyObject]; CGPoint currentPoint = [touch locationInView:self]; //current position of touch if (([touch view] == self) && [Utility getDistance:currentPoint toPoint:middle] <= ROTATE_RADIUS && [Utility getDistance:currentPoint toPoint:middle] >= MOVE_RADIUS) { //a rotation gesture //rotate tile float newAngle = angleBetweenLines(self.middle, CGPointMake(self.middle.x, 0), self.middle, currentPoint); //touch angle float angleDif = newAngle - self.lastAngle; //work out dif between angle at beginning of touch and now. CGAffineTransform newTransform = CGAffineTransformRotate(self.transform, angleDif); //create new transform self.transform = newTransform; //apply transform. self.lastTouch = currentPoint; self.lastAngle = newAngle; } The second option makes more sense to me, but it is not giving very pleasing results (jaggy updates and non-smooth rotations). Which way is best (if any), in terms of performance? Cheers!

  • How i set the background color in UIView using CGContext?

    - by Rajendra Bhole
    Hi, I have developed the application in which i want to set the background color of UIView which is already set on UIViewController.The code is below, @implementation frmGraphView /* // The designated initializer. • Wandering CGAffineTransformMakeRotation

    - by Joe
    Okay this is about to make me insane -- any help would be appreciated. I have two images which are part of a timer application. One is the needle/hand and the other is a little hub which is styled to look like the needle base. I'm using a CGAffineTransformMakeRotation to rotate the needle and the base stays stationary. The problem: there is like a 1-2px 'wander' to the needle's rotation which makes it look like it's moving off center in relation to the base. I have worked the base and needle image over in PS extensively, and both are dead center pixel wise -- seriously. My method to rotate the hand: -(IBAction) rotateSteamArrow{ CGAffineTransform rotate = CGAffineTransformMakeRotation( degreesSteam / 180.0 * 3.14159265); degreesSteam = degreesSteam + 1.5; if (degreesSteam <= 180) { [steamNeedle setTransform:rotate]; } else { [self handleSteamTimer]; [self toggleButton:(id)timerButton]; [self switchSound]; } }

  • Wider than expected margins with CGContextDrawPDFPage

It works, but the margins seem much wider than when I view the same PDF using a Acrobat Reader or the Mac's Preview, and that consequently scales the content down much smaller than it otherwise would be. Is my code actually causing this behavior? • get rotation direction of UIView on touchesMoved

    - by mlecho
    this may sound funny, but i spent hours trying to recreate a knob with a realistic rotation using UIView and some trig. I achieved the goal, but now i can not figure out how to know if the knob is rotating left or right. The most pertinent part of the math is here: - (void)touchesMoved:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { UITouch *touch = [touches anyObject]; CGPoint pt = [touch locationInView:self]; float dx = pt.x - iv.center.x; float dy = pt.y - iv.center.y; float ang = atan2(dy,dx); //do the rotation if (deltaAngle == 0.0) { deltaAngle = ang; initialTransform = iv.transform; }else { float angleDif = deltaAngle - ang; CGAffineTransform newTrans = CGAffineTransformRotate(initialTransform, -angleDif); iv.transform = newTrans; currentValue = [self goodDegrees:radiansToDegrees(angleDif)]; } } ideally, i could leverage a numeric value to tell me if the rotation is positive or negative.

  • CGContext rotation

    I have a 100x100 pixel image that I want to draw at various angles rotated around the center of the image. The following code works, but rotates around the original origo of the coordinate system (upper left hand corner) and not the translated location. Thus the image is not rotated around itself but around the upper left corner of the screen. CGContextRef context = UIGraphicsGetCurrentContext(); CGContextTranslateCTM(context, -50, -50); CGContextRotateCTM (context, 0.3); CGContextTranslateCTM(context,768/2,1024/2); [image drawAtPoint:CGPointMake(0,0)]; I tried doing the same using CGAffineTransform, but got the same results.

    Hi I'm trying to represent a view that rotates on the iphone screen. I have a button and when you press it, the view rotates 180 degrees. My problem is that this only works the first time. Here is the code: -(IBAction) flip:(id)sender{ CGAffineTransform transform; //the transform matrix to be used below //BEGIN ANIMATIONS [UIView beginAnimations:nil context:NULL]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:2.0]; //animate if (flag){ transform = CGAffineTransformMakeRotation( RADIANS(180) ); } else { transform = CGAffineTransformMakeRotation( RADIANS(-180) ); } flag = !flag; transform = CGAffineTransformTranslate(transform, 0, 0); self.mySuview.transform = transform; //COMMIT ANIMATIONS [UIView commitAnimations]; } The first time you click, the view spins alright, but when you click again NOTHING happens. No errors, no changes on the view. What am I missing? Thanks Gonso
